  1. Hmmm...hadn't thought of it before, but hasn't Star Trek had both timelines and alternate dimensions as two different things?

Going back in time didn't usually create an alternate universe. Or else, they would have made an alternate universe everytime one of the captains went back in time.

Also the new Star Trek isn't a rewrite of the old Star Trek timeline, it's an alternate dimension one, much like the Mirror Mirror ones.

Prime Universe is still going, just without Spock in it, who didn't die, but rather travelled to a new dimension and never returned to his own, where'd he see his friend Kirk (or maybe not depending on if he's considered a live or not) and Picard and company.

I'd say that's why they didn't change anything in the movie. They see it as a different dimension now.

Which is probably some of the fail people have with it. When dealing with time travel storylines into the past, one has to set out the rules and stick to them...does it change the current timeline or does it not change it and instead creates an alternate timeline/dimension or can it do one or the other under certain circumstances (which ST has never elaborated on).

As for the movie itself, I was just let down with the Kobiashi Maru scenerio. I think it was done so much better in the ST novel of the same name, for how Kirk went about reprogramming it and playing out, the movie was such a let down for it. Maybe I was expecting to much.

As for the new enemy of the next movie, I think there's a few actors who could do Khan just fine, maybe even better, but I think they should avoid it. Even if someone did it better, there'd just be those who say "There's no replacing Ricardo! No!"

Best bet is all new enemies! Save the meeting of this timeline's Khan for a ST novel if it needs to be done.

That might be the case with some suggestions, but this one is about getting Mu Mastery, which isn't a defense based toggle armor.

Also, Blasters have a defensed based toggle armor.

Admittedly, Mace Mastery's defense based toggle armor, imo anyways, is very concept friendly, in that it's just a glow effect, and not say something like an Ice Armor Toggle.

Without adjusting the hue, the devs could still afford to make the effect brighter and more solid.
When has roughly 6% of the male population and 1% of the female population made something a fairly common condition? o.O

I've got an Elec/Regen and a Spines/Dark. The only stalkers I occasionally turn off bosses. I challenge you to take down even a tough boss with those sets.

Yeah, Elec and Spines are great for AoE and can manage some decent ST,. but one thing you forget about those sets: They are SLLLLOOOOOOOOOOWW. Any decent ST they manage is at a fraction of the speed of even Martial Arts.

While I could see the issue of Electric armor, I find it a downgrade to try and shoehorn RttC in WP. You have to realize Placate doesn't bring hide back up so it will cause problems with using it like other auras...except it has no effect to mitigate the enemy's attack

Also, needing to stand in the middle of a spawn to heal? Nah, Reconstruction is far superior. Same with Invulnerability, if/when that's proliferated, get rid of Invincibility and replace it with Shadow Meld clone.

Lastly, only those dmg auras were lost for Hide. RttC was replaced with Reconstruction. WP lost Quick Recovery for hide.

What set combos are these that are horrible?

Epics and the new final tier leaping pool power. But I find adjusting the spawn size down to work just as good.

    Grant Cover? Phalanx Fighting?

The idea isn't to remove the thing to try and piss off as many as possible, it's replacing the easiest analog so they can be lazy. :P
Phalanx Fighting would be a lose of defense, and Grant Cover would be a loss of defense debuff.

I'm sure the removal of any power would be piss people off

Maybe Hide should of just be an inherent power to begin with? Take away the chance to crit outside of hide, up their damage scale to Scrapper levels, and they can have Hide and Controlled Crits with Hide status as their Inherent.

And also maybe fix it so hide isn't broken so easily...like say once you placate you have 2 seconds of staying hidden even if you get a stray hit in, so you can actually use your big hitter and not have it wasted (which is my experience with using Placate in the middle of a fight to try to use Assassin Strike on a target).
  5. I like that idea!

A passive Mag 2-4 Mez Protection from Hold/Immobilize/Stun.

Enough to shrug off 1 Mag 3 Hold, but not multiple or stacked from same caster protection.

It could also be useful to some Melee types, if they're that worried about being overloaded, but int he long term really not that needed (and I know enough Tsoo have overloaded my melees on Stuns, to know it's possible to do it)

Shield Defense is probably the exception case.
Untill they do something akin to their first superhero MMO counterpart, one can easily just IMAGINE they're made of the element versus wrapped in it. Just having them suppressed toggles without any visual clue makes it more like "I want Shield's abiltiies, but I want to be INV, so let me suppress the effects so I can be INV while using Shield's effects".

Now i know you said Shield Defense is probably the exception, but the example goes for all the other elemental types sets as well.

Admittably, we can do this with a few powers already. INV and WP are pretty interchangable now, and INV/WP with the use of Stone costume pices can make one have a stone armor theme without taking stone armor.

That said one can easily do the same with going FM/INV and grabbing one of the Auras to represent Fire Armor type.

My Blaster was created because I was impressed by the sheer power and wonderful animation of the Judgement Ion powers... I wanted to make a Blaster who used those powers all the way through, A true theme character.

This character became an RP character, heroic and pure.

You can understand my distress when I realized to keep him in his theme, and get Mu as his epic pool, I would have to become a true villain. Spending at least a week of my characters time on villain side working on this project, doing horrible things for horrible people just for personal gain.

It's totally out of character for the character but the only way to attain those powers. Villains don't have to redeem themselves to get power mastery, so why do we have to come to they're side to enjoy power proliferation of the Epic power pools?

This goes for all the Epics, they all suffer from the same lose of those four pool options when the villains get the hero options for free... Either give us a hero side equivalent set of missions to unlock the powers, or set them to unlock at the same time as the Epic Power Pool powers.

    Thanks,
    Elvnsword
PS: I am sure, this has been mentioned before, and I may well be beating a dead horse, but I had to mention this because it's currently driving me a bit insane in game...
I'd say this is something that should be in suggestions, and there's in fact a recent suggestion thread on this very topic.

Next, you can do the whole thing as an OOC type deal for your hero blaster. Or do you skip everything that wouldn't be IC for your character? Like skip the mission that has the flavor text of your character slicking their hair back. Smelling something they can't smell, ect, ect.

Or you could just say they're going to the Rogue Islands to fight crime and not really taking a patron or allying with them.

So the RP side of things is clearly not in your way of getting the patron powers.

Also this is the different between Patron and Ancillary Pool powers. There doesn't need to be a hero equivalent.

Thoug if they do them, I'm all for SideKick Pool Powers. Pick a Freedom Phalanx member and become their sidekick! Let it come with a permanent gold Title of "So and So's Sidekick" too.

I say they don't want Shield in Stalker because they are afraid that 90% of the people will pick Shield because Shield has Shield Charge and the lack of defense isn't that a big deal on Stalker who naturally doesn't attract that much aggro. Shield set looks very good on paper for Stalker gameplay and they don't want to give Stalker that.

And yet they have no problem allowing Elec/Shield or SS/Shield that maul through mobs like butter. That's where I have problem with dev's decision on how to balance Stalker. It's like they would spend that extra energy to make sure Stalker isn't "overpowering" while letting other melee ATs have ridiculous set combinations that ruin the balance. I just can't believe how high damage /Fiery Armor is now when you have fury and rage.

My only high level Brute is Dark/Energy aura and I enjoy that build but it's far from "overpowering".

PS: If they want separate Empathy VS Pain due to "theme" reason, then maybe Stalker can get another new set that is similar to Shield? Oh wait, that means it would lose money in the future because only one AT can have it. It's not worth the time or effort to just satisfy one AT, whose population is already at the bottom of the barrel.

One manipulates the electro magnetic spectrum and becomes invisible! Or some such!

Also, why have Shield on Stalkers? It's real benefit is Shield Charge, and that's likely the power to be gotten rid of for Hide.

It's something I always wanted to do ever since 8th grade when I read S.E. Hinton's novels The Outsiders and That Was Then, This Is Now where minor characters in one book are major players in the other.

I know some of the filmmakers like Favreau are chafing under the challenge and some viewers are starting to get annoyed at references to the other movies, but I'd love to be faced with the challenge of taking elements that are given to you and make them work within the constraints of a new story. When all is said and done, this will be one of the coolest series of movies ever made.
Are these annoyed viewers, non comic book fans? Because I can't see why they'd find it annoying. I've always wanted to see super hero movies that didn't act like the main character/team and their enemies were the only super powers in the world.

Even if it was just mentioning others without actually making a movie.

During Spider-Man they could easily have a newspaper article or a news clip mentioning Daredevil.

What does the power do INGAME against enemies rather than what does your toon do when you click the power.

This I think is more inline with what a lot of ppl (myself included) have asked for with the character generator. An actual zone where you can run around and attack those unkillable "dummies" to see how your powers look.
It would be nicer if we could actually fight/defeat something in this zone so you can see how powers like Levitate work and how damaging they are. Of course these mobs dont cound for XP, debt, drops, # of kills, etc.

For example when I first played this game I made a Corruptor and died so often as I didnt know the mechanics and had unrealistic expectations for that AT (a friend told me how awesome his Corr was but he didnt classify he was lvl 50 with full IO Sets).

This would obviously be more helpfull when looking at your toon at level 25+ rather than level 6. By the time you've hit level 25 as a new player (so no PLing) thats a lot of time invested and a "just re-roll" may make some want to leave the game.
By that level, if you've screwed up power choices, you can do a respec trial

Nope, I have no problem with Romulus having a heart-to-heart with the Nictus, not least because they are talking between themselves and not to us, the team. And at least its not a zone-in cutscene.

And actually I think Antimatter is further away than 100 ft.... I never said his shouting at us from however far away is a "pet peeve," its just immersion-breaking and not very credible. Last time I checked none of my characrters had super-hearing.

Ah, the "I'm smarter than you" card, always such a great way to win hearts and change minds.

I'd take that more seriously were it not for half the league saying the same thing, re how unpleasant this trial is.
If they don't have super hearing how do they hear the other cut scenes?

Wasn't a "I'm smarter than you" card being played. I admitted to not having the Keyes Trial down 100% yet. It was more of a "if it's to hard, just dont bother" card.

I don't care much about min/maxing (at least untill a certain point), but i don't want to run into a situation where i can't finish a mission because i can't get past a single boss mob.

I guess it comes down to whether i really need to have a lot of min/maxing done if i want to get anything done when i get to 50 on km/wp.

I hope that makes sense ;p
It comes down to what difficulty you want to play at.

If you're playing at 0/1, then no. 4/8 It comes in really handy.

Ultimate Fantastic Four started off great, too. But once they let people like Millar and Card into the sandbox and didn't exercise firm editorial control over them, things went awry and it got out of hand. (Card's Ultimate Iron Man has already been retconned within the Ultimate universe itself as having just been the Iron Man movie of that world, not a sign of support.) Ultimatum, with its world-killing tsunami that wiped out tons of characters, was really out there in terms of a game-changer. I mean, they killed off Wolverine. That's huge for Marvel.

I think Bendis is telling the truth when he says that he was persuaded by the whole internet thing promoting Donald Glover as the next Spider-man and that a black friend of his told him the only hero his friends would let him play was Spider-man because no one could see his skin color. To me, "white" isn't an absolute criterion for being Spider-man. The most important traits of the character have nothing to do with his ethnicity.

And again, Ultimate is an alternate universe. Regular Spidey is still fine. I think they should take such chances, because that's what an alternate universe is for.
Of course not. Being Peter Parker is! Like Spider-Man 2099 is Miguel O'Hara! Come to think of it, why didn't they just use Miguel for the new Ultimate Spider-Man? It's the ultimate universe, so he could be there at a different point in time.

Keyes is massive fail, on so many levels.

BAF: easy to get a sense of whats going on.

    Lambda: Same.

Keyes: What are we doing? Why are we here? Antimatter delivers an insane rant from atop a reactor - and amazing how we can hear what he's saying from 100 ft away, down on the ground - and then its what do we do, where and when? People run willy-nilly as if fleeing the Martian death-machines on War of the Worlds.

I was on one today where as people were being held, disintergrated, alpha- and beta-held or whatever, and green-light-pulsed to death - ALL AT THE SAME TIME, mind you -, some maroon was going on about "this is the easiest trial ever, I love it." Drugs are bad, mmmm-kay? What is someone smoking, to be able to make a comment like that?

Also see: Cut-scene immediately upon zoning, one of the worst decisions this game has yet made, zone-in cutscenes are just horrible.

This trial is awful. If you love it good on you, but all three times I have run it, at least half the league swears to never do it again. I think this time, I'm one of them.
Do you have that same problem with being 100ft away from someone not yelling untill the very end, but rather just having a conversation with each other on the ITF?

How about everyone is in the building just taken out weapon caches and containment cells, and can hear Maurader talking to himself?

Come on now, that little pet peeve is a bit laughable. Nevermind the one with Mother Mayhem having a talk with Seige and Nightstar totally away from you.

As for Keyes, you know, still not 100% on that iTrial, but it's not that bad imo. Maybe it's just to hard for you to grasp? If that's the case, just continue to run Lam and Baf and skip Keyes.

I swapped it out so i could take super jump at least. In normal missions i don't really see any difference, if anything it goes a little better, maybe because i dont have tough and weave sucking up so much endurance (not level 50 yet).

That said, still looking at what powers i might or might not need from km and wp themselves. Do you really need a spreadsheet to know, "More survival powers = better survival"?

Just because people take/suggest taking Tough/Weave doesn't mean spreadsheet play

You say Repulsing torrent can be useful for a way of escape, couldn't one just as easily say with Tough/Weave one wouldn't have needed to eascape?

Resurgence is terrible, because you can't use it with enemies around and still stay alive long enough to come back. It's basically like using a wakie in the middle of a group of enemies. You're going to die again.

SoW, I think it's worth it, other's don't. It's on a fixed timer and you tend to want to use it either before jumping in on a group or really quickly before things go south.

SoW will see less use if you build WP for better defense.

*I* read comic books. USM is actually one of the few that I buy. So I get more of a say in it than Dobbs does. And I'm fine with it.
Well I know I do, and I know I don't care for the change. Because it's a change being made for these exact reasons.

    The reason was exactly this...

"They say we have to many white heroes. Well lets make one of color. Can't make it new though, it may never last. Well, let's kill off one of the popular ones, replace him, and give him name a hero name people will recognize, see if that changes anything."

I don't see a problem with the changes. With the change to Nick Fury in the ultimate universe, I didn't get this feeling at all. With this change, it feels like it was done for other reasons.

Just feels kinda like Batwoman being gay. It didn't seem like they did it for any real character reasons. It felt like a "lets be edgy" and "this will give it so much more hype" reasons.

Never got that feeling from Northstar in Marvel.

Could just be how the news is relaying it, and with the more recent "more diversity in comic books/comic book publishing" that happened it all seems to be going hand in hand.

I agree. I just don't see how 200 apes can start a revolt against a population in the billions, when it starts in a country where we have tanks (those Apes arent going to tear through a tank) big guns, and the government would sooner fire bomb the city than let it happen.
