  1. Smite does more than Fire Blast (mids has it wrong last I checked if you're going by Mids, but also still, Smite does better damage).

Those are currently unavaible if you hadn't bought the pack though, as the store is offline.

Also, in case you are just coming back and hadn't seen. We will soon be getting Time Manipulation with issue 21 as well as a good bit of prolif.

Then, shortly after Issue 21 we will get Street Justice and Beam Rifle sets in the store for purchase. You will have to use Paragon Points to unlock these sets, even as a subscriber.

Also on the horizon is talk of a Staff Fighting set.
Isn't Beam Rifle coming with i21?

And after Street Justice gets released, it looks to be Titan Weapons next, then Staff Fighting (based purely on Titan Weapons being announced and Staff Fighting being an apparent leak).

Tech advances do indeed mean some jobs become obsolete, but they just as much open up new areas of employment.

Rather than structure our hypothetical New Society on low tech to ensure that certain jobs are never made obsolete, we'd be better off investing in vocational schools that teach people how to work in the newly created professions that technological advances create.
Well I'd say some of the bigger advancements happened recently. And with current trends (at least in the US) of lay people off, work with less people, find out you can work with less people, then not hiring people back when things are going good again, shows more tech equals less jobs. Yes, new jobs are created, but less people are needed to fullfill them.

Well the fact of the matter is whether someone finds out there was a dude raising the dead or that it was all made up or somewhere in between there isn't a single person that was genuinely interested in truth wouldn't go and find out what they could... And given the probabilities the christian marines would find out that what they believe is wrong which would likely completely a number of their beliefs in the after life...

It's one thing to believe in an after life and be a soldier and to be one while not believing and given that short time period to incorporate that knowledge and while your on the battle field there would be several reactions from hiding, to suicide, to spastic because they now are hyper aware of their immortality, or spastic based on believing that nothing matters... to little to no reaction at all, but the more likely is one of the former.

If there was a Yeshua those very same christians would like abandon their mission follow Jesus around as might muslims and jews.

Other religions would be unaffected if it is false...

if it's true other religions might convert and desert to follow while some of the more skeptical would likely wonder how it's done and try to ask what how it was done and/or try to test his knowledge to confirm or disconfirm claims, but ultimately be unaffected and just consider it a curiosity...or try to take him back to the present.
The problem with this line of thinking is a few...

    1) Even if they thought to look, what makes you think they wouldn't wait to find answers. Get the job done first, then if that doesn't get them home, they can go and look.

    2) Right or wrong. Doesn't mean suicide or getting reckless. Plenty people of faith lose their faith and don't become reckless/suicidal about it. Those who gain a new faith if found to be true would then what? Not become a Judas to their fellow soldiers and finish the task at hand.

As mentioned, this is one grasping at straws. Not to mention, we living in the now, have no idea if it's true or not (outside of one's faith) so putting that into the equation, I don't think works.

But if you do, refere to the above. They decide their faith is wrong. Then go on living to make a lasting impression another way. Taking out all those Romans, and changing history, with their names in the books! \o/

    no opinion on HoB
Cryo should have longer durations, and i think chem should also have a slight -regen(if not put in piercing) too?

EDIT: also, the +def and/or the claws treatment makes a lot of sense too, maybe use all of these suggestions for the set?
I don't think it needs all the suggestions.

    50/50 split for sure.

Possibly keeping the -Resist on all ammo types.

Then I'd say either the +Def or the end/rch. Doesn't really increase it's damage but either gives a set that goes witht he idea of move move move (+Def) or Pistols don't really need to use so much END/RCH.

I thought of the END/RCH from claws, as while it won't increase the damage, people can attack more.

Well, I think most players just want a very survivable build rather than a ST machine, that does good on AOE.

That's my experience with helping SG members with builds anyways.

There's plenty of things to do on Redside. And not look nice? I think Redside looks good from a graphics point of view.

Or do you mean you want to see a city like Paragon, and not a civilization in the middle of a wasteland look?

If it's the last one, I have to ask. Would a city filled with villains (nevermind that I'm sure you have the villain who cares about the people) that outside of a few strict laws, are allowed to get away with anything they can manage to powerplay away from another, have a nice looking city to live in?

This will result in finding out what the truth is and some having their entire world view completely rewritten. How this would play out would have a big impact on the morale of the Marines.
Seeing as how this is suppossed to be at the height of the Roman empire, wouldn't they have to wait awhile for that, not to mention, for all you know, they could find out how right they are.

So in this case, I'd say it's best to leave that bit out.

No. And I don't believe that ANY one person could do this either. Civilization forms organically over time due to the infuluence of MANY people. No one person could do that and have it feel like any kind of actual society.
You have a point. If you could rebuild society, you'd know such things as technology equals less work and thus more people jobless, and could (untill you died) try to keep it clear from such a trapping.

The fiction writer is correct that there'll be a rash of suicides in the Marine camp.
How long have those Marines been stuck there?

I don't think you'd see a rash of suicides at all, not untill they truely thought they were stuck there.

Sounds more like the writer coming up with various ways to make it not look so one sided, rather than going by how it would really happen.

Which isnt bad mind you, it probably makes for a better story. Just I doubt it would happen.

There is nothing saying that scrappers could not get a pistol set with slightly different rules than the blaster set and yet use the same animations. Add a melee strike/combo or two (possibly involving hitting AND firing their gun), give them 1-2 ranged attacks like other sets, give them the PBAOE with different values.

Pistols/Dual Wield and the targeted AOE would like be replaced by a couple melee (either straight melee or melee/shots) or short range attacks. Keep Empty Clips in there as it's cone, executioners as a short range hit, keep a modified version of HOB as it's pbaoe. Confront and build-up. Now you have 2 attacks to account for. Either 2 heavy single target hits or 1 heavy single target and something with another cone/pbaoe depending on whether you want to make it a ST or AOE or balanced set.

It would also cut the need to develop new powers for a set down to 4 from 7. Though I'd recommend the Empty Clips animation be cleaned up during the process.

As far DP as a APP set? I just don't see them doing that because that is a very very specific concept to make a APP set.
I've actually posted a build up of how to do it for scrappers that only had two actual range shots (1 ST blast, the other a short range cone...nothing different than KM, Claws, Spines) one PBAOE, and the rest were melee attacks that involved hitting and following up with a point blank shot.

One attack was akin to Combat Jumping, as you spun ont he ground kicked them up then let off a couple of shots at them as they were knocked up into the air. All a melee attack, it just used the pistols in the attack.

Ive given up on that idea though. This was just a suggestion for the Epic Pools.

People prefere the heroes. This isn't going to change. However, this isn't to say giving more zones/content is bad for players who prefere redside.

Though really, what I like about redside is the lack of so many zones. Why do we need tons of new zones?

I had heard people wanting it, but I think the devs learned from CoH, that it really just isn't worth it, not to mention their game world is a bit different (more open) than here.

And why doesn't the OP's knife set have Parry when a good deal of knife technique come from fencing? Probably the same reason the OP choose a Follow up clone instead: too many choices and not enough powers.

But that involves the set power make-up, not the set theme. No blade set can natively decrease a target's resistance.
And I see no reason a set can't have -resist be it's thing, and not be Sonic.

Admittedly, then a lot of the difference between this Knife Melee and peoples want for a Sonic Melee will likely be Smashing vs Lethal damage, Weapon Set (and thusly redraw) VS Punch People, and likely Build Up vs Follow Up.

And this is how almost everyone would do it as well.

Why stay hero/villain if rogue/vigilante gets the same rewards AND gets the added bonus of traveling between both sides.

The rewards are perfect as is. Do Rogues/Vigilantes get to obtain Purple/PvP IO Recipes with their Reward Merits? No. But then, those also come with a high price anyways
  16. The other game started out with equal content, and players had the choice from the beginning on which side to play (something CoH didn't), and people STILL gravitated towards being a hero.

It's just as much mental on wanting to be seen as the hero as it is about wanting to feel like you're winning. Playing a villain means you lost.

Before i21 you kinda start out having lost, as you're breaking out of jail
  17. As to the OP, fixing redside is going to be harder than you think.

First off, while GG obviously isn't helping with the above post, there is something to be said about her past posts. Namely, it's not all about people wanting go where the crowd is, it's that people generally prefere to roll the hero.

It's a mentality thing. To be seen as the hero as much as heroes win, villains lose (your comic book villain for instance will never take over the world).

Yes, people get vocal over wanting the option, but that isn't the majority. I like playing a Rogue style character from time to time, but I wouldn't call that a true villain (much more the thrill seeker/theif who pulls off heroics).

The best way to get redside active (and you never know, if i21 brings a massive influx of new players, it just might become very active) is possibly for redside players to get active in promoting the game.
  18. Something like this, is what I tend to go for with WP characters. However changes of course need to be made depending on budget, primary, and power pool picks.

Multiple legions (six, if I remember right) are stationed around the village and will all advance on the village regularly, but not all at once. Basically when Caesar gets angry or a general wants to make a name for himself by defeating that pesky village in Gaul.

The question then becomes, can the Marines match the feats of Asterix and friends? Can they hold the village indefinitely? Or at least for five years? Going on the offensive is allowed, but the objective is survival, not conquest, and if the village falls, to Rome or anyone else when the time is up, the mission is lost. (As the return portal will open in the village.)

They get all the same resources, with enough fuel to keep each vehicle going for 30 days each and so on.

I like this scenario more, because a decapitation strike on Rome with a starting point in Italy is just playing everything into the Marines' hands. That's what they do. Hit fast, hit hard, go home. It's a much better match if the objective becomes Hold Position instead of Conquest and that they start on the far edge of the Roman Empire. I'm thinking that for long term, it'd be good to perhaps be a bit more diplomatic than the usual approach, which leads to an interesting question: Can any of the Marines speak Latin?

I'm fairly sure the Marines can hold out, but Operation Getafix* is a better setup than the "destroy Rome" objective.

*Getafix is the druid in Asterix that makes the magic potion.
I'd still give it to the Marines.

Walking by foot is still something Marines are trained to do. Sniper Rifle in hand, they're still able to take out the important individuals.

    Basically, people would be screwed!
  21. I think the fact that the set has -resist in it, to not be a real problem, Leo.

Really, look at Street Justice. Has an attack with -Resist. Yet Martial Arts and Super Strength don't. What makes Street Justice's hitting do -Resists compared to a well trained Martial Artist who would likely learn pressure points over a bar room brawler?

Why can BRaodsword and Katana users Parry, and not a Claws or Dual Blade user, when you can in fact parry with such weapons.

Once the glitch started to spread the crew worked like mad to save the program. The original program. As pretending to be magical creatures isn't what this Holo-Novel was constructed for. Add to that the fact that Janeway was falling for one of the characters (I'll agree her role was all over the place, due to various writers and producers) suffice it to say, the crew was very attached to those characters and that setting just the way it was. If they wanted a Holo-Novel to pretend to be Fey they could just make one from scratch. Janeway had her Da Vinci program and Paris had his Capt. Proton program. This was the crews program.

Still, it was a bit of a mini-arc, getting touched on here and there for 3 or 4 episodes before being the main focus for 2. If you hadn't seen Fair Haven's creation and subsequent overuse... If the 1st time you see Fair Haven was the Glitch episode it could leave you asking "What's the big deal just delete the dern thing and start over" When, for them, it was more than just a holodeck simulation.

Hmmm...while I certainly would prefere the Dual Pistols animations for Thug MMs...

Pistols would get a shorter animation, but both Dual Wield and Empty Clips would get longer ones.
