Quote:Doesn't make sense either considering the power as being discussed here supresses if you move. Unless the mission requires you to use stealth AND be completely motionless, it still seems pretty useless.Maybe if there was a mission in which stealth was a literal requirement, rather than just a good suggestion. I remember similar quests in Guild Wars and Champions: Return to Arms, where if you didn't stealth past the patrols, you either got infinite ambushes or insta-ganked. But I don't see that happening in this game, particularly when patrols break so often, and with the power being in a for-purchase pack. (Assuming Shadowy Presence is in fact in SB4)

Quote:Not a computer programmer here, but could it be that it is easier to work with an unchanging schedule of 30 days than it is to program a cycle of 28,31,30,31,31,30, etc.?Are you serious?
We have the Gregorian Calendar, the Julian Calendar, the federal Fiscal Year, and now the City of Heroes Veteran Reward Calendar? Why would such bizarre code be written? Is there some reason that February resulting in somone getting a Vet reward two days early is such a crisis they have to write their own unique calendar?
That's weird.
For the record, I subscribed December 1 of some prior year (2004 maybe?) and just got the 57-month Vet reward October 4th. -
Quote:I'm so happy I'm not the only one in this situation. I started my dom during the head-start weekend and she's only level 43. Hoping to get her to 50. I also have a scrapper who just turned 48. May as well finish him off and start working my troller (37) as much as I can.I'm kinda hoping to get my level 44 Corr to 50 (finally - she was created during CoV pre-start weekend) to unlock the VEATs.
Other than that, I have a few characters who kinda specialize in Double XP Weekend - a Grav/Rad Controller, a FF Defender, 3 Emps at various levels. All in demand for DXP teams who don't get played as much at other times.
Postagulous - I don't want to try to tell you how to play your characters - but a level 2 Tank that is "messed up" is easier to delete and start again (especialy on DXP Weekend) than to try to "save". If you delete & re-roll right now, the baby tank should be up to reasonably good levels (at least high teens) before DXP and then you don't have to make time for the Respec Trial unless you want to do it for the XP & drops (and to see what it's like, of course, if you have never done one). -
That face plate will likely never be available to us. It's a signature item of Statesman, the iconic hero of this game. There is a set of Roman armour available once you complete the Imperious Task Force in Cimerora. To get there go to the university in Steel Canyon (if you're a hero). In the library to the right of the entrance will be a contact that puts you on a story arc that eventually lets you enter Cimerora.

Quote:Just pointing out there is no reason i17 has to come out in three months. It could easily come out next year, or in December. Not saying it GR is definitely connected to i17, just that it certainly isn't certain that it won't be.If you figure about 3 months between issues, that puts i17 around November.
If the 2nd wave of beta invites comes after november *), i17 certainly isn't GR.
We don't even have a solid release date, pre-orders or anything yet for GR, so I'm guessin it'll come out early spring, maybe.
Remember, GR isn't just a free, fast issue. It's a complete Expansion, like CoV was. Expect a decent amount of time to drum up the release, advertise it properly and hype up those pre-orders.
(* Extrapolating what the devs have told us. 1st wave of beta invites is for 60 month vets, 2nd wave is those with an active account between August and November, and 3rd wave is the pre-orders. -
That would be about $22 CDN.
A good conversion site for future reference is www.xe.com
Oh, and welcome to the game. We need more Canadians!
Edit- and this is a fine forum to ask questions in. -
On the other hand, it doesn't hurt, and I know I tend to look at the people flagged as searching for a team before I move on to the unflagged ones. No point not setting the flag.
-
Yes, it's still worth it. If you log out at the base portal for the extra prestige anyway that's great, but I don't. I have that day job badge on exactly one of my toons, and I don't intent to get it on any other. Day jobs for me have to fit thematically with the character. I use the vet base teleporter virtually every time I play and would hate to see it replaced.
-
I also had a great time this weekend. I play at off-peak hours, so I mostly solo, and especially in the upper levels when EBs feature in many story arcs my toons often get stuck. Got two of my toons moving again, and had no problems with teams at any time, so it was a good time.

Dominators can pulverize their enemies with Earth Assault. Masterminds heat things up with Thermal Radiation
[/ QUOTE ]
On second thought, this interests me. Earth assault for doms? It'd have to be a hodge-podge of existing powers in order to count as proliferation and not a whole new set, but are there any earthy powers outside of stone melee and earth control? I mean, maybe Hurl Boulder, but I can't think of anything this could contain other than a port of stone melee in some shape or form. I'm really curious about how this could turn out.
Therm for MMs makes me

The luddites have some beautiful earth-based powers. Maybe we'll steal some of them. -

You are probably better off just running the Snaptooth mission, I don't think that one can be dropped. Just advertise on your server channels to form a team, I'm sure you can find someone who wants to get the badge or costume rewards from that mission for a specific toon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even if you don't want to run the mission it's easier to simply enter the mission, head to the portal to activate Snaptooth, then leave and finish off some business in WW or what have you. That mission is failable, so just wait it out. -

Shadow Shard. Accessible through Peregrine Island, and being level 40+.
There are some mission givers there, but they mainly are like Levantera or a typical Radio mission; no arc, just constant missions, repeated. Otherwise, there's getting the Overseer badge and also some major taskforces (and the longest ones in the game.)
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean Borea, right? Levantera has an actual story arc, while the Sadow Shard is just repeatable missions and taskforces. -

Purples are about a 1 in 1000 chance of dropping if your in the right level range for them. The only reason increasing difficulty would have a chance of more drops is that the 3rd and 5th difficulty increase the number of mobs spawned giving you more chances per mission of getting what you are looking for.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you mean 2nd and 4th.
[/ QUOTE ]
And 5th... higher cons AND higher mob counts -- two great tastes that go great together
[/ QUOTE ]
Level 4 gives you higher cons with higher mob counts. Level 5 gives you normal spawn sizes at +2/+3 levels. -
[ QUOTE ]
if you have unlocked contacts from 45-50 you haven't finished before hitting 50 you can still do their missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to clarify, the 40 to 45 contacts are the last ones you need to worry about out leveling. Even if you haven't done a single mission for your 45+ contacts, they will still give you all their missions at 50. Don't worry about them. They will always be available and unlockable to you. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's not the time, it's what you're doing. Why is that so hard to grasp? You cannot sell a unit of measurement.
[/ QUOTE ]
Time isn't a unit of measurement. It's an abstract noun. Minutes, hours, days months and years are units of measurement that measure time. Just like acres and hectares measure land. Time is very sellable. TV and Radio stations sell time on their station to advertise whatever the buyer wants. -

should i explain the joke to all of you or what?
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly, yes. You're expecting everyone to instantly recognize a glitch on a dark costume set against a dark background. On a costume piece that is exclusive to two ATs that many players still don't have access to, and many players that do have access to may not enjoy using.
Not to mention, the thing doesn't even look off unless you really know the piece or stare at it for a really long time.
If you want to share the "joke" great, but make sure you let us in on it too. -

It's called a reroll.
Further explanation: Devs have already said it won't ever happen. And just because you know how to work an Illusion controller doesn't mean you can work a Fire or Earth controller.

I'd call it a retroll.
*cough*

Really? Given that the OP has been on the forums for about a month is it too hard to believe this could be a legitimate suggestion? The term "troll" really needs to stop being used for any post someone doesn't like or agree with.
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought it was a pun off the way the OP used "troller" to denote what AT they were talking about.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. That makes a lot of sense now. Disregard my previous comment. -

side note: You can chat cross-server already via global tells and global chat channels.
there are a few "single world" games out there now
Guild Wars is the only one that comes to mind at the moment,

The other big player that is a single shard is EvE online.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know about EvE Online, but Guild Wars has a pretty severe restriction on the number of character slots. I'd much rather have separate servers with lots and lots of character slots, like CoH has.
[/ QUOTE ]
EVE allows even less than Guild Wars. I agree our server system is much better for this simple fact. -

You're over reacting. A lot.
And also wrong.
Great concept is important, I imagine thats why you picked the powers you picked, not for their effects but for their concept. So you'd pick origin for the same reason and live with the consequences. I really do not understand how this is even an issue it's like you guys are just opposed to new things being added to the game. Maybe you guys should just go play WoW. That way you can have a very clear goal to reach for, and an end game where every character has exactly the same gear or is reaching for the same gear. it might be mroe your style.
[/ QUOTE ]
Despite all the logic and reasoning we give to you, you simply respond with "BUT I WANT IT!!!"
Fine, have it your way. You can view everyone as wrong and you can firmly believe that you're right. You can cling to your idea forever, but it's never going to happen.
Thread over.
[/ QUOTE ]
You're not presenting logic or reason you're presenting a bunch of teenagers who's entire argument is "If I can't have everything I don't want anything at all."
[/ QUOTE ]
Their argument: "If I can't have everything I don't want anything."
Your argument: "You're wrong, because you don't think the way I do, and naturally the way I think is correct. The best way to deal with you is to belittle your ideas and insult you until you go away."
If they are teenagers, that makes you what? Four? -

That's only the vile slur you Americans have pasted our beautiful homeland with. The official name is the Etoile Isles. If you must corrupt it with your American ways, you may translate it from the original French to the 'Star Islands.'
Peace, your neighbors to the east.

Why aren't they going to be very rogue soon? Unless they're completely changing the concept behind the islands they are still going to be a den of villainy. Even more so now as heroes turn their back on Paragon and... well... go rogue.
