  1. Make a macro: something like /bind numpad9 "tell $target, Hi there, do you have a space for a 33 MM on your team?"

Go through all the people on your list with this macro, giving each a few seconds to respond.

Failing that, solo ;-) or ask people who are not in teams to duo with you. Many people wouldnt mind a duo on villains side, it works well.
  2. I would go for Mace, but not take any of the damage powers, go for the shield and immob first.

It seems like Doms are the ones people make for the high end stuff. Like Trollers, below 32 they pretty much suck, then when they hit the higher lvls, they start to overshadow many other ATs. Both the strongest and the weakest of the ATs, a pain to lvl, but once you get high up, oh boy!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Due to time and family contstraints I usually solo/duo my dom and as such I LOVE the mind set (excuse the pun). At lefvel 6 you have 3 control tools and that is all you need to solo very very well. The BIG downside to mind is that late game there is very little. You dont have any immobs or AE immobs which make you useful in a big group. Your signature power is an AE confuse which isnt so good for big groups since mobs tend to spread.

To me mind is the "enjoy the road to 50" kind of set, rather than the "aim for the big power at the end" kind of set
  4. One thing I never understood is the different damage types on holds/sleeps. If a mob has high defence against Psi damage (or resists) does it mean that mob has a high defence against mind holds/sleep/confuse?

The one thing I hated about my mind/psi dom was that at 40+ my holds/sleep/confuse was missing a LOT.

    Respecs and SOA

Just a question from someone who has absolutely no idea at all:

At 24 you get a forced respec to choose your VEAT path. If you use a respec after choosing your path and powers, say at 30 or so, can you pick a different path. So if you are tired of playing a Night Widow at 30, can you use one of your freespecs/respecs to change to a Fortunata? Or does the respec only allow you to change your powers chosen in the Night Widow path?
  6. The price on the achilles heel is coming down since the effect was fixed in I12. Pre I12 it used to stick on a mob for ever, now it has the correct 10 sec duration.
  7. I am trying to figure out if it will be worth slotting my Traps/Poison trap with proc IOs keeping in mind the I12 changes looming. Slotting it with the 2 Hold chance for psi damage proc IOs seems to be nice but

and here is the hard question: do these procs check every time the trap cloud pulses a hold chance OR does it proc every time the cloud actually LANDS a hold.

The reason this is important is because in I12 the chance to hold has been scaled down to once every second, where before it was 4 times every second. However the hold % has been upped a little.

So if the IO triggers every time a hold is tested for then it would be worth it still, but if it only triggers every time a hold actually lands then it might not be worth all that money.

    Any ideas?

    looking for a sg

Excellently done peeps, I can from personal experience say that both EVIL and the Dirty Hand Prints are excellent friendly SGs
  9. I have played both a BS and Kat scrap to 30 and have used a number of proc IOs in their attacks. My question is: which of these is actually a siginificant upgrade to slotting a damage enh or rech enh in it rather:

Achilles Heel -res: I slot this in my cone AE and low single target attack so that I have the largest chance of it going off. One of the issues with BS and Kat is the S/L damage type which is resisted a lot. I feel that this proc IO is a good addition. PS: I read on the US forums that the duration of this -res proc is now fixed for I12, it lasts 10 seconds and not forever anymore. Does this change this proc's usefulness?

Lady Grey chance of neg damage: nice number to see popping up now and then, I slot it in my cone AE, low singel target and big single target hits. Is it worth it?

Force Feedback +rech: I slot this in my level 26 big single target attack (for now). I think this is the best of all of them and provides an amazing recharge on atacks and build up. It goes off a lot. Is it worth slotting it in the level 32 big attack?

On another note: both my scrappers are WP, I find that the Dark Watcher -rech proc IO in Rise to the Challenge works very well indeed.
  10. I find slotting pets with interesting proc IOs makes for more interesting game play, watching for that proc to go off and see how your pet suddenly kicks more behind than usual. Slotting Acc/dmg IOs in 3 slots and fitting the others for fun works out better in most cases I think.

This is especially true for the -def procs such as Achilles Heel and Lady Grey. If your pet does a -def AE attack, even better, having a group -res debuffed makes a huge difference.

For Necro I would most certainly slot achilles heel and lady grey in the death knights and to hit debuff Proc IOs in the Lich.

Another thing to think of is poison, the proc IOs in here make so much sense in weaken and envenom. Now you can spam these two on bosses/EB/AVs and have an effect. Weaken can now also debuff recharge rate with dark watcher and envenom can now -res with achilles heel. Slotting pacing of the turtle in neuro breath makes for a large group of enemies -rech even more as well.

    I love proc slotting!

Any chance I can download this video from somewhere? Streaming it means I watch 5 seconds every 2 minutes.

[/ QUOTE ]That's why streams have a pause button, just wait 'till it's fully loaded and then watch it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do that, then it gets to where it starts talking about the fortunata and then asks me for my rating, which I give and it goes no further. What am I doing wrong?

  13. I have done some extensive testing this weekend and I would recommend the following proc slotting:

    1. Thugs: none. I have proven that although the thugs have -def listed as a set IO slottable, they do not do any attacks with -def at all. I see you have force feedback listed in your post, the thugs cannot take knockback set IOs.

2: add Gaussian chance for buildup, it works off the to hit buff that the enforcers run, and it really does work

    3.Bruiser: you got it right

I would also suggest you place 3 acc/dam IOs in the first 3 slots of Enforcers and Bruiser to bring your acc/dam up for stealing slots to place the proc IOs.
  14. I believe that all the pet sets are pretty useless compared to frankenslotting them. For example:

    1. Slotting your Enforcers with 3 IOs (above level 35) of acc/dmg (or HOs to achieve the same and better effect) and then slotting the last 3 slots with achilles heel -res, Lady Grey chance of Neg dmg and Gaussian chance for build up will increase your enforcer DPS by a HUGE amount as opposed to using the set and getting a small bonus.

    2. The same goes for your bruiser, most of his attacks have KB in them so slotting a Force Feedback and an explosive strike IO will also up his damage by a lot more.

I also think that not slotting paralytic poison fully (even with a set) is a real shame. It is an amazing power for any MM to have a hold and a good one at that.

In a lot of cases the (marginal) gain from a set can be overshadowed a lot by the bonuses in the power itself that can be gained from frankenslotting, ESPECIALLY with pet powers.

Also, getting around in SuperSpeed is going to hurt your nose, you might want to rethink that.
  15. After much testing: the Tier 1 thugs pets DO NOT do any -def attacks, despite the fact that the power is listed as taking -def IO sets.

The Tier 2 pets definitely do -def so slotting Achilles heel and Lady Grey in this summon power is very advantageous.
  16. Thugs would work since it is ranged. When level 32 comes around, you will have to be sharp on that Go To button for the Bruiser or you will have to watch him throw his rock all the time, which cuts his DPS by 80%
  17. I am looking forward to Ninja/Storm. It is going to be very hard to make it work, a KB set + melee is going to be chaos. But I am loving the challenge already ;-)
  18. After having a lot of success in triggering more burn patches with my assault bot through the +rech proc on the Force Feedback IO, I tried it out on my thugs bruiser.

It works very well, he now does specials far more often, forcing me sometimes to drop him some blue insps. He also throws his stupid rock more too ;-P
  19. It is really sad that you will have slot very expensive IOs in the pets to actually get them to perform well. Achilles heel goes for 5-8mil an IO and the lady grey ones even more. That is a lot of money to get the set DPS working well.

After playing my TA/Merc in a group for a while I used my vet respec to salvage the IOs I put in it and shelved the toon.

I was especially feeling rather down when I had to quickly afk in a few fights due to family emergencies and when returning I saw that my partner had not even missed me at all.

The merc utility is lacking as well. You just have to group with a ninja MM to see how your commando does not do so well when that Oni rips out a rain of fire and has mobs choking in a hold. I really dont see how a LRM shot or short range flame thrower can hold a candle to other tier 3 pets.

BAH, enough of this maudlin depression, it was only 3 weeks of levelling wasted, I will move on.
  20. They are pretty bad, I have played 4/5 MM primaries to 32 and beyond and I can safely say that they are the worst DPS and the worst survivors. It took an achilles heel -res IO in each pet to get the DPS up to bot level. Once the commando arrives at 26 and is slotted at 27, it becomes equal to the bot DPS (with -res slotting). Once the commando gets the level 32 upgrade, it falls below bots again, since the upgrade is pretty underwhelming for the commando.

I agree with Psiko, a set with huge -res and -acc and holds is good for them to keep them alive and killing adequately fast enough.

I am playing a TA/Mercs which is self torture, I wanted to see if I could make it work. In short: I can't. The only place the character fits in well is in a large team where the large area debuffs (as pathetic as they are) work best.

I have a ff/bot at 32 and a thugs/poison at 36 and a necro/dark at 50 and I can honestly say that my TA/merc is heading for a delete soon. I will keep at it until slotted oil slick then give it another assessment if its to keep or not.
  21. It buffs their recharge rate. I have found that the +rech proc on the knights does not do that much since their abilities recharge fast anyway. It DOES have a huge impact on the assault bot for bot MMs tho, especially post 32. Those burn patches suddenly appear a lot more!
  22. You will not be able to see the trigger. The proc is a debuff on the mob your pets are hitting. If you take a look, the first debuff they get are the debuff shields flashing on them which indicates the -def. The -res doesnt show.

The only way to test it is to have one pet shoot at a mob and then see if the damage that the different bursts do changes. The best way to do this is not to buff your T1 mercs and then check the damage. You should see a small variation in the damage when it procs. It doesnt look like much, the burst will do eg. 12 damage rather than 11. But that is +1 per tick on what is essentially a dot, it adds up. Without this IO slotted in all 3 pets, merc damage is really limp.
  23. It is a little sad really, but you have to slot this set with IOs to get it working properly and almost on par with the other sets.

    1. Achilles Heel -res chance on all 3 pets.
    2. Explosive strike smash dmg chance on commando (can also use lady grey chance neg dmg if you have the cash)
    3. Achilles Heel -res chance on acid arrow. The -15% res on it is just minimal.
    4. Dark Watcher chance for rech slow on Flash Arrow. This makes it really useful.
    5. Pacing of the turtle chance of -rech on Glue arrow

And even then the mercs damage is really poor until the commando gets his first damage slots at 27. Then it starts to perk up.

    MM vs AV/Hero

Well I tried taking down Radio on my lvl 50 MM (necro Dark), fully slotted with pet set IOS. No go, I couldnt even budge his health. Heck, I even had issues with a level 53 Arachnid Boss which I couldnt solo as a purple. He couldnt kill me but neither could I keep up with his regen.

    Shivan time again.
