gratz, nice. they got a min effect on that bad boy? (not saying that look isnt perfect for you)

THe Overwhelming Force set has KB Protection if you 6 slot it. This is, of course, a horribly inefficient way to get 4 pts KB protection UNLESS you were considering using the set anyways. In which case it is a true giggle.

Quote:Ah, it's pretty simple then. (Except I have no idea how you translate your build from MiDs to in-game. Do you memorize every enhancer?) But whatever you are doing obviously works for you. It's the difference between what I have been able to slot on the character live vs. what I have planned. I don't always have every single IO that I need for one completed build. I don't spend weeks/months collecting a pile of them in inventory before slotting them, so I don't usually stuff everything in at once. Once I get the individual IOs, or sets, I start using them.
Although you've got a three ring binder, and I'm sure it works great for you, I'd prefer not to print out builds.
So.... Go back into Mids once you have your "real" build. Open the "Planned build" rename it "Real Hero XYZ" and modify that to what you actually made. Save it. No need to print it out, and Mids will save that for you forever. If you are taking time to "create" the build. Then just keep a live model in MiDs that tracks your progress. You spend a day or a week getting one or two sets slotted onto the build, then open MiDs for two minutes, note that by placing the Enhancers, save it. Mids will be your notebook, just keep multiple copies. "Planned Hero XYZ, Working Hero XYZ" -
Quote:Simple 5 step solution. 1) get free account (B). 2) Create new character (Account B) 3) Invite character on account B to SG with character from (Account A), promote as high as you want. 4) Anytime you create a new character (Account A) log into character from (Account B) and invite/promote your alt (Account A). 5) EnjoyI would be satisfied with being able to email Super Group invites so you can invite your own characters without having to bribe players to join just to do invites or convincing someone to drop their SG, join yours do invites then get a join back into their own again.
For those of us who like creating characters this is very annoying. -
Quote:I have zero use for that. I have a 3 ring binder with my builds. I build them in MiDs, print them, create them in the game to match the MiDs printout. If i need them again (because I imploded for instance) I still have a hardcopy record of the build as well as the record saved in Mids if I need a reminder of the values. This is my system.I think you're misunderstanding my question. I'm not looking for Mids to track what I have, or don't have across all my characters. I'm looking for a way to flag IOs/Enhancements on ONE build so that I know what I've already slotted on the ONE character. That's all. Nothing beyond that.
I think I still misunderstand your statement. How can you not know what is on your character. It is right in your Mids build. Right? You spend however long planning the build in MiDs. How is that not going to be the build on your character. If that is not what you actually put on your character...(say for instance you ignored the 3 hours uyou put into the best Scrapper build of all time and opted instead for level 10 End I/Os on everything) how is Mids going to track that you did not follow the Mids build you created.
My problem is I make and unmake so many high end builds (to re-use I/Os for other projects) That I have trouble following the debris trail, and invest a day or so every few months clearing up the clutter. -

definitely pretty screenshots folks. thanks.

Not sure when Moar Cowbell was on his Vahz Badge run, but he helped me on mine. I had a 20+ level character I drove through Prae for the badges. Moar and a few others helped me get the Vahz badge on "SuperSnark" (my answer for the easiest character for me to run in the game, a SS/Will Brute. Since I am using it as a vacation character I decided it would be good for my long term badging goals.) We got the Cadaver Counter badge in that run. Initially I thought we missed the next badge for killing all the minions first before making the Lost a non-prophet organization, but then realized I had run the sewers once before in the day (without getting the Vahz badge).
Anyways I love the Moar Cowbell character. I have yet to see anything Christopher Walken has done that is not spellbinding. Weapon of Choice is one of the best videos of all time. The watch scene from Pulp Fiction....wow. So, to see that bull walking up, lol. I need to find a way to make a tribute for Moar Cowbell in my Bull themed SG "Cow Palace". That was my 1st thought when I saw him in Atlas lol. Edit: Hmm, maybe combine the bull with the Liberty Bell theme.... -
Quote:I only go for Perma Hasten on Doms and very specially skewed builds. My current project is a reincarnation of an idea from 2 years ago. A super high recharge Dark/Invul Brute. But he is also s/l softcap, as you pointed out, it is crazy to not do that with a good build these days.Buying Kinetic Combats was also dirt cheap. Everyone only cared about slotting for recharge. Perma-Hasten were everyone's goal at the time. I found it rather... shocking coming 2 years later and hear nearly no one talk about perma-hasten anymore. Everyone now focus on Soft-Capping. Mind you, people still aim for high recharge but it seems to be an after-thought.
I am also holding out hope for being able to make some builds that chase a different goal than S/L/En softcap. I love reactive Armors, but it gets boring after awhile lol. -
grumble. the problem with it being in mids is how do you synch up the data entry with the characters. IF (Big freaking If) Mids could tell me where all my enhancers are on every character (in trays or not) and in my base? I'd PAY for that.
The preferred solution is for NC Soft to actually address their paying customers needs. Yes, i would Pay for that too. -
3 months ago I did a major re-inventory. I put about 500 enhancers in one base, in alphabetical order. Since then I have made lots of characters. I build them, level them, strip them of stuff, half stripped, etc. Oh, further complicating? I have bought lots of "Tuned" enhancers, and those cannot be stored at any base. I am looking at having to spend another day or two (as in 12-24 hours of real tedious work) regathering everything for my next 3-6 months of builds. Especially with i24 coming up. What I would love? Have something in the game where I can store all my enhancers for my account. Tuned, Regular, all of it. My logic? I buy from NC Soft $15-$100 a month worth of stuff. Throw me a little storage space. Cause it is frustrating to try to figure if I have this stuff available or not. I spent 2 hours last night running through 15 characters looking for parts for my latest project.

Quote:I'll keep this tucked in my head for future experiments.Resistance synergizes with Absorb in a way I don't think even I could convince people of until they see it on beta for themselves.
I do tend to believe any strategy not giving a very high probability of success is useless. Not quite "If it doesn't make us immortal it is useless" but definitely on the track to that station. Not trying to justify anything, but when you play as crazy as I do (or poorly..) you gotta have planned for success long before you wade in lol. -
Quote:Ah, if it was anyone besides you Arcanaville I would be in a scrappier mood. Sigh. Actually, I been trying to tone down my forum responses to more of what i would like to say in person anyways. Is that a trick question? Forget now, when even my current 40%+ s/l resistance is very noticeable on a blaster. But in I24 blasters are going to have regen-scrapper levels of regeneration inside that resist.
But seriously. My point is that a Blaster can AND will get shredded. My Dark/Invul Brute that I blast with (thx soul mastery) can periodically get shredded. Especially in Incarnate Trials, but also in ITF and regular high end play. I know you know the Blaster numbers, but here they are. 75% resist capped, and 1600 Health. So a good alpha of 6400 will floor this guy, even if it is pure S/L (soooo rare). That is the best he can do. We both know Brutes and Tanks who regularly trot around with that much S/L, tons more health, and usually much more regen will faceplant regular. Thats why they all seek the softcap. You know you are not gonna softcap that Blaster AND hardcap S/L resist. Not unless you got a bucketful of extra enhancer slots (and prob another bucket of powers to put them on) cause there will not be room in the build.
Will some resist help a Blaster yes. If in theory a Blaster could hardcap S/L resist would that be great? Sure. They would shake off an alpha here or there once in a while, and faceplant slower than they usually do. But seriously, this is not the solution for Blasters. It is a band aid. Or more closely that blue tape the athletes put on, great psychological help. What Blasters need is what i have seen you argue quite well for. Mez Protection. Cause they will never tank. Period.
Edit: I did not know about the regen scrapper level. But healing is the third level of protection. 1)Defense 2) Resist 3) Regen. It is very helpful, and I believe will achieve its intended function of getting a Blaster ready for combat in a minute or two, the next fight. But Tanking means just shrugging off everything happening right now. And, more to my point, Blasters may pick up a bonus here or there, but not enough to matter. On your 40% resist Blaster, how much are you going to alter your build, even if each 4-6 i/O set offered you 3-5% s/L resist? Are you going to gut your build chasing that? Seriously? Is it that good? -
Heh, ya. I checked some activity (forum activity) from someone who has a Global I wanted. It was YEARS since the last post. Good luck getting them to respond to my tell, if they were even interested in allowing me the name. Heh. By definition, if they came back it would be 50% chance that's when they would want to keep it. ah well.

Quote:Yeah, since Mez resists are pretty much garbage pail you can stick anything in there. Thank the heavens they finally switched out something useless (debt protection) to something almost useless (Mez Protection).I would be very surprised if any of these resistance bonuses are more than 2%, with 0.75% seeming more probable to me. You can stick big numbers on the mez resists without affecting anything much though.
Why are you quoting such low Res numbers? Based on what I see that would make no sense. Not thatI know what the Devs are thinking. But seriously, look at the building process. Say you give these sets 3-5% resists (huge, right?) They are going to be useful, but only somewhat. The only people who will benefit remarkably will be people who already have good all around resist armor sets. They can then abandon building for softcap and concentrate on their core game, resist. But for those who build for softcap, they will get only incidental resist added to their builds, because cramming anymore build goals onto a high end build is nigh impossible. As far as anyone else making a Resist Monster, good luck with that, I see a lopsided build in just about anyone else that tries. Say a Blaster gets capped S/L resist. What use is that? Seriously. -
Does anyone know when Protection from Pies goes live? Is that i24 or i25. Glad the Devs have finally switched Debt protection out for something useful. Has anyone seen the Pie Protection on Beta? Does it work well?

Quote:It's definitely a slippery slope. But the core of this argument is very sound. Personally I find the need for a true dedicated "Tank" unnecessary. But I played almost exclusively Brutes Redside for many years before GR. Therefore I see any "waste of build" for Tanking as "money left on the table" that could be spent on DPS.While the difference between Brute and Tanker survivability on paper is debatable, what isn't debatable (well it is, everything is, but not intelligently) is that in practice, an equally skilled tank and brute will be doing different things. A Tanker's primary goal will be tanking. A Brute's primary goal will be melee DPS. Therefore, a Tank is a better tank than a Brute.

Thank you all for the wonderful thread. Based on the sound feedback and creativity I saw here I was inspired to create something truly unique. In it's own way as gawdawful and cheesy as Skeletor, but in no way related. Er, besides having a skull face.
I was actually able to use my idea for meshing the "Hat" category, and settled on one of the 3 possibles I had in mind. Thankfully the metal pieces described as "hats" work well on the "Death Goggles". THe theme easily went robotic, borrowing clockwork and Mecha pieces and a few odds and ends to tie it together.
The storyline is about a proud Paladin who saw himself as a slayer of evil (all undead) and enforcer of the church's rules about no technology or science (gotta love the religious fanatics) The Paladin crossed paths with an extremely powerful necromancer (and champion of undead rights!) who decided to show the Paladin how one sided the poor sots views really were. After smiting him he turned the Paladin's remains (not much) over to a friend who was working at the extreme edge of where magic and technology meet. THis individual gave the Paladin a robotic body (with the remains of his skull and spine implanted in it) the Necromancer then tied the thing to the negative material Plane to power it up, and keep the nanobots (the real heroes here) going. The Paladin worked many years to right the wrongs he did in life. Then he was free from service to the Necromancer. But he is permanently to be trapped in this undead state. He travels the worlds now as "Skulz" (The nickname given him by the builder of the robot body) seeking to learn what he can and help wherever it is possible.
Again, thanks. -
I am currently experimenting with a Dark/Invul/Soul Brute in the Incarnate Trials. Gloom/Soul Tentacles/Dark Obliteration give a solid Blaster type attack chain. He is softcapped to S/L and mid 30s Energy Defense. I have the build set up for very high recharge, with Global Rech bonuses, Hasten perma, and Spirtual Alpha. The massive recharge allows this to be an effective "Tank/Mage" Buyer Beware: One of the reasons I go for high recharge is the Tremendous Endurance hole the build is constantly digging itself. Hitting Dark Consumption once a minute is about the only solution I have found. In my own building term the build runs "Really Hot" meaning it has horrid endurance issues. The build is very tanky, as we all know Invul armor can be when a little defense is slapped atop it. I find the secret to the build is when facing one opponent I can back the End issues off by relying on ST attacks and when pressed to be aTank I have Dull Pain, which can be stacked/perma with this layer of recharge. Propping that up with Siphon Life makes for a character that can be very Tanky. So, depending on the need I can go Blaster and constantly work to fix the End prob, or hunker down and go really tanky. This without ever clicking a kheldian form change button, but just in changing tactics.
I have previously run (and warehoused now) a SS/Fire/Mu Brute. This is a great "Ghetto Blaster" but is on the squishy end of Brutes. On the bright side dying is just another weapon in the arsenal of a fire armor brute. -
I am a longtime Brute builder, who also make forays into Tanker and Blaster territory. For me being able to add "real" amounts of resistance will change how I build. First, it will give me new options as I choose an armor for a new character. For instance, being able to add 10-15% resist to one to four categories will dramatically change the performance on a high end build. Many good builds, once softcapped to S/L or S/L/En/Neg defense, will still lag in resist performance. The Dark Tanker project I have going, even with Might of The Tanker up, still has 45.5 Energy Resist. All of the other resist numbers are higher, and I have S/L/En/Neg softcapped on him. He is not 50'd yet, but I am worried how he will perform in the trials because of the sheer amount of energy damage I will face. If I can tweak the build and get even 5-10% more Energy resist on him I will feel great. Having over 50% resist is a good psychological buff lol. Having 60-70% resist, on top of def with a huge heal popping up regular? Yeah, that can tank.
Similarly, if Willpower could get just a touch more S/L resist thrown on regular? Very nice. Also, Invulnerabilty is not great at resisting anything besides S/L. But with 5% or so added here and there? (or 10%?) this armor type (already strong) will get a little less shaky in the modern game.
Not sure how I will exactly start changing some of my favorite builds but it will be fun experimenting. -
