  1. I've tried them all. I am a Brute at Heart. Street Justice is almost perfect, but i do not like combo systems, so close but no cigar. You left out Dark Blast, which I sorta like, but i need to rework my concept for that character and find a Blaster strategy (other than my preferred ranged AR/Nrg) that i can live with. There is another Grav Dom in my future, or maybe I will bite the bullet and finally run a troller using Grav's changes as the impetus for that. (Probably happen this year)

Bwah hah ah. What in the content of this game leads you to believe they do ANY Quality Assurance? I am actually verging on being non hyperbolic here. It is so bad in so many areas I am honestly believing there is none. Spelling, grammar, mobs in walls, clipping, I could go on literally forever.

Do not get me wrong, i love CoH for all it offers. it has been my only video game for 5 years. But QA? Heh. You really got to show me who is making a paycheck off of QA in this game. We need their E-mail address to so we can "help" them.
  3. Yeah, I like the basic idea and most of the details as well.

edit: Did think deleting small SGs is very not necessary and punitive. I have at least 5 huge bases that I am the only one living in. This has been my solution to the problem you are addressing. Please do not advocate stripping me of bases with 15-35 mil prestige built up just because they are now solo bases. PS one of those bases has over 600 Enhancers in it. You gonna just dump those in my e-mail? And all the hundreds of salvage from another base? and the thousands of Inspirations from a 3rd base? Not likely.

    Exactly.

And So I propose an alternate solution. Please start selling all your Purple Enhancers for 1,423,666. This number was created using a complex formula you would not understand. Just go, sell your Purples. Strip characters if you have to. It will work, I promise.

    Best

What is the absolute best ( no budget limit ) Brute and/or Scrapper for real (arcanatime) play?
  6. Hey folks, i have most of the ideas I want down for this Brute. What i cannot figure out is a good idea for Dull Pain, what to use an extra power pick for (Combat jumping to mule another LOTG?) and whether/how much i should throw into Health and Stamina. This is my main focus right now, and I have all my enhancers ready to go on him, just cannot figure out the last 5% of the build and a sweet solution. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

  7. Here is the build I am thinking about, I will be boosting the two 50 I/O straight Resist and 4 I/O Recharge. I will also be taking the Recharge Alpha. My feeling is this build just gets stronger and stronger with more recharge.

  8. The buff will be near constant with the level of recharge I am talking, so then its just a matter of saturating it.

When I say "burst" I mean making the most of the 15-20 second attack windows prevalent in Incarnate Trials. I am slightly interested in the build as a Brute, but just more interested in it as a Scrapper.
  9. Hey Folks! I'm looking for build ideas for this. I have a very solid Tanker Invul/Dark/Soul I can mostly transpose. But I was wondering id anyone has some great ideas for how to do this most efficiently?

Build goals: Softcap S/L, use Hasten, +high global recharge (near perma hasten or better)

Budget: unlimited. I am looking for my new main, this will get everything I got.

PS, Yes I know this would probably be stronger as a Brute, but I want "burst" damage.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

  11. I generally spend about $60.00 a month. Most of that goes to tuned enhancers, although I get other things as well.
  12. Blue_Centurion

    How many went?

How many went to the Emerald City Comicon in Seattle? I did not see a CoH booth unfortunately. My Wife asked me what I enjoyed the most. After some thought I had to reply "Being around 40,000 geeks for the whole weekend."

You know when I got a lot happier with the game? when someone told me the how different the written descriptions on the character generation pages are from the developers actual discussions on what they were creating.

I live with a copy editor (my wife). I honestly do not believe the people responsible for putting descriptions on powers, archetypes, or really anything written in the game even know what a copy editor does. I would not let the people (who are not devs) who write the descriptions for this game write "men's" and "women's" on doors. Because they would get it wrong.

So, my suggestion is stop reading that useless verbage and actually look at what the archetype does. Also, ask some people if they have information about some original discussion regarding the archetype by devs. There are some good historians lurking on the boards if you ask nice.

    .

Okay, Here is a little something I threw together. I restarted a level 40 Invul/Dark Tank, and have almost everything slotted I can at 41. I will finish the build next week. I think it could still be stronger, but I think i nailed 90-95% of what i wanted. All I ask is that you show me your Brute that can reach this Potential Level of survivability. GL. (oh, and Perma dull Pain does count as helping survival, so I expect your Brute to match that health level.) Edit: I just noticed I am over one of the recharge rule of 5s 9going too fast, i'll throw in something w/ a 6.25 global instead somewhere)

ps just noticed I am over recharge on 10%s, will either 5 slot posi blast or 6 slot TOTH and pull Grav Anchor. probably, need to think about it. Like i said, I thrw this together very fast. The hard part is always that last few enhancers for me.

  16. The problem, Johnny Butane, is that what you are describing is not balanced. Although I agree with you 100% about comic book tanks. It took me many years to wrap my head around CoX Tankers. But they are balanced, as primarily Melee AT Controllers.

Take a look at one of the original PS2 X-Men games. Had 1-50 levels in it. You had to unlock Colossus at about 25th level by doing a nuclear plant mission. Why? Because he was completely over the top powerful for the game. Same with Tony Stark in a later title from the same series. Because a Tanker like Iron Man that was also a Blaster and a hard hitting melee character just walks on game balance.

If, as you say, Brutes have the same "potential survivability" as a Tanker your solution is simple. Make a Brute, whose damage (depending on build/sets) jostles with Scrapper for top Melee AT damage dealer.
  17. As much as I truly loved the last page (especially my overlooked post, sigh) wasn't this thread really about someone's grave concern that Scrappers might lose their place as the bestest most wonderful melee AT because Stalkers aren't completely wrecked in PvE anymore? Don't we need to address that poor OPs heartfelt fear?

Edit: PS after reading this yesterday I revived a year old tanker and started building/cramming I/Os onto it. I'm off to a comicon this weekend, but I will have him finished (50'd, I/Od, and partially Incarnated) next week, and will post a build soon. I am going to challenge anyone to make a Brute that has the same survival as this tank. If you can then indeed, Brutes "Potential Survivability" is the same as a Tanks. But of course it is impossible. That statement and that argument is smoke and mirrors. A Tank's job and a Brutes Job are different. A Tank is a melee AT Controller with one Mez trick (Taunt) and the powers to use that trick very well. A Brute is a Melee damage dealer who can fill the role of a Tank when built right, but will never do it quite as well as a tank.

Yes, that is right. I am going Dark/Invul/Soul with a very expensive build with Softcap S/L and 82.5% global recharge, plus Hasten, giving 152.5% recharge almost all the time, with Hasten near perma. The idea is to Tank hard first, lay out Taunt/Dark oblit/Soul Tentacles/Midnight Grasp/Gloom when times are good and in big masses, then ST MG/Gloom/Shadow Punch/Siphon life, and when things get bad just Spamming Siphon Life (with the resist proc in it) Also, the massive global recharge has Dull Pain at slightly better than Perma, and for attack power Soul Drain is near perma. Dark Consumption is up more than once a minute to solve End issues.

So putting this in siphon Life works very well with how I plan to use the power. When things are going good I am Soul Drain, then MG and Soul attacks, when things get ugly I hunker down and Siphon.

Necrotech says Superior is 6 PPM, so thats 10 second recharge powers. Is that accurate?

12 second is for the standard and 10 second is for the Superior?

Wow, I am looking at a very very expensive Dark Invul build right now i just made in MiDs. I see nothing bad, just insane tankiness. Having the ATO in Siphon Life even makes mechanical sense, I will be leaning more on SL when I am in trouble, and when I start to spam it my Res creeps up.

So if I put the Superior in Siphon Life base Recharge 10 seconds, even if I get the recharge down to 3 Seconds it Procs every time?

I cannot figure this one out. Might of the Tanker: Chance for Resist. MiDs goes crazy when i turn it on. Anybody able to give me an idea how often I could count on it being up if I use it in a tier 1 punch?
  24. I rarely stay on one character after I "finish it", keeping 1-3 mains and shattering/deleting the rest. Yet on most builds I 50 i go to 3-5 tier 4s. the reason? How can i test how good something is without getting the full effect?

And of course, my handful of favorites and mains have achieved tier 4 just because I run them all the time.

Last thought: Because the way I play it is actually easier for me to tier 4 many times. Everytime I delete a 50 that has done I trials i email threads with Emps and Astrals to my account. So the next 50 saves their Astrals/Emps, and it continues snowballing.
  25. if Brutes are allowed to have essentially the same potential survivability as Tankers, why...

You haven't seen it stated that way because the basic thesis of the argument is arguably false. "Potential Survivability" is not the same. If we were allowed unlimited enhancers, sure, they have the same caps. But Tanks get higher bonuses across the board on their sets. Higher health, higher defense, higher resist. It is much easier to I/O greater survivability onto a Tank than a Brute. For the exact same Investment of I/Os you get way more survivability out of the Tanker. Since there is not "unlimited enhancers" and the number of set bonuses you can cram on is limited, and ED does exist, you cannot make a Brute with the same "Potential Survivability" as a Tanker. If you do not believe me go into MiDs and try.

If you are still going to make the "Potential Survivability" argument based on resist caps (after I explained how much stronger Tankers resists and defenses are...) consider this:

    Brute
    Base HP 1499.3
    Max HP 3212.7

    Tanker
    Base HP 1874.1
    Max HP 3534
