  1. NBC's new superhero show "The Cape" is looking for Villains. Go here for details http://www.nbc.com/the-cape/submit-y...in/login.shtml
  2. I, for one, welcome our beer chucking robot overlords!
  3. I am at work right now, so I don't have time to get the link. Stacker has some excellent training videos on base building on youtube. They include stacking, and alot of other neat tricks used in base building. You should check them out.
  4. Maybe a different approach to the "secret identity" idea could be to give characters their own personal space or apartments or housing. It would be a great way to introduce players to base building on a small scale, and would help RP'ers with the type of immersion I think the OP is looking for. Just my thoughts. YMMV.
  5. I'd have to agree with Fulmens here. In my experience with a concept character I was

playing as a "vow of charity" kind of guy, I put up every piece of salvage that I got for

100 inf and had plenty of influence throughout his career for DO's, SO's and IO's. I had

enough when he got to 50 to trade alot of it in to improve his solo base (a church

    concept).
  6. You always have the most entertaining threads Steelclaw.

More bacon would also be fine with me
  8. I'd like to know if there's a good reason for a limit of only 2 beacons per telepad. And if there isn't a good reason for the limit, may we please have more beacons per pad?
  9. Just my opinion, but I can't get excited about this idea. I've read through the posts in this thread and can understand both sides of the issue. I personally wouldn't go to an underwater zone more than once to see what its like.
  10. Thank you for the suggestions. Your assumption that I did not search before posting is

incorrect. 7 pages into a search for "suppression" I found a thread started by

Hyperstrike. I believe that with enough threads on the subject someone may eventually

pay attention. You may believe I am wrong, and I'm willing to accept that you may be

    right.
  11. I work in a bank. You can't come in this building while talking on a cell phone, or with

any kind of hat or even sunglasses on. It is quiet, and people do their business in

peace. I guess I am leaking real world expectations into the game, and for that I

apologize. I did not want any drama, I just wanted to express a suggestion for folks to

consider turning off some of their toggles and pets while doing business in Wentworths.

I hoped by starting a new thread that someone who could do something about it would

take note and start a discussion toward making all sides comfortable with any changes.

    Edit -

Here is one relatively recent thread. It is not a simple issue.
Sorry to annoy you Penny. I didn't realise this was the "New suggestions Only" forum. Maybe my idea of people just being mindful of others doesn't measure up to your posting standards, but I will continue to express my opinion despite your annoyance, and I for one will turn off my toggles and pets when I'm inside Wentworths, and encourage others to do the same.
  13. I don't want to start any drama. I don't care if its done by the game or by the players

themselves. I'm just asking people to be courteous of others inside Wentworths.
  14. I know its a small thing. It just doesn't make sense that people need to have their imps

and demons and hasten and buildup and group fly and every other nonsense going inside

Wentworths. Can we please have power suppression?

Base editing is a steaming pile of legacy code. It has bugs so old they've become cherished features: stacking, for instance. It has legacy items that people have repurposed to the point where improving their resemblance to the thing they're supposed to be is considered a terrible mistake. It has an editor that intimidates new users with its absurdly fine-grained control, and has no expedited path for reasonable defaults - all editing must be done at the detailed level, one piece at a time. Incremental improvement is not a realistic option - it would be too much effort for too little gain. Wholesale replacement would basically be a choice to discard a significant fraction of the current editing userbase - because all current bases would have to be invalidated in order to make enough changes to make a difference - in the hope that the new system will attract enough people to make up for the loss, and I'm pretty sure we all remember how well that went for PvP.

Basically, any changes significant enough to be worth doing would alienate the players who would theoretically be the target audience for the changes. The reason why devs aren't giving bases love is because there's no form of love they could give that would be returned.

Again, though, I'm cynical. But that's the cynical analysis, FWIW. I'd be overjoyed to see an effective rebuttal.
I would gladly sacrifice the hundreds of hours I have spent on the many different bases I

have worked on for a new base system. Maybe I'm in the minority, I wouldn't feel

alienated, in fact I'd be willing to pay for a booster pack of new base stuff or even a base

expansion. I would have a demolition party for the old bases, sorta like when the Teutels

(sp?) wrecked their old shop on the tv show "American Chopper" for their new and

improved headquarters. I say bring on the new and improved base system.
  16. Taliso, mousedroid is trying to make a joke. Outside the game Noble Savage is also

known as David Nakayama, the art lead for CoH. Mousedroid is implying that taking

away an artists magic markers would make him powerless. I'm sure someone will come

along and help you with your question. Good luck, and welcome to the game and the

    forums.
  17. sry, guess I gotta move my guess up to 952
  18. What an awesome illustration of just how, with a simple strategy and a little planning you

can make as much influence as you could ever want in this game. I'd like to guess for

951,000,100.00, and congratulate you on making your point so clearly. Great job.
  19. Thank you so much Red !! I did just that, and was able to change my settings. I knew someone here would know
  20. I had the same problem. NCSoft support was able to have me delete a couple of files and then re-run the updater, and everything has been fine since. Definately contact support, they have the fix.
  21. I hope someone else has had this problem, and I just can't find the fix for it. When I start a new toon I like to set the graphics options to custom colors for the HUD and word balloons, and I set the size to 86%, so everything fits the way I like. My desktop is fine, but on my laptop everytime I click on the graphics tab, under <menu> and <options> my program crashes. I can click on either of the other 2 tabs under <menu> and <options>, just not <graphics>. Before the last update I never had any problems. The laptop is about six months old, its a Dell Studio 17. If it matters, I also can't see any of my costume slots on other toons when playing on the laptop or any contact portraits. I reported a bug, but I'm hoping someone here has a fix. Thanks for any assistance.
  22. I'm just gonna agree to disagree with Trashcan and Electric Knight regarding the merits of trying to bring attention to base improvements. There is really no point debating any of these points until a developer actually shows up and says what they want for bases.

Thanks for the good wishes Spitting Trashcan!!

When did someone suggest a new base system? Because I thought we were talking about making improvements to the current system by adding design and function elements to make bases more popular with the general playerbase.

    God bless us, every one

    Look at the track record. i13 PvP, AE, market UI, Hamidon Green mitos, Base Raiding;

Consistently when players have asked for the devs to "Improve" or "fix" something of the game they enjoy the players wind up with far less than what they began with or something that's completely broken.
"Hi, my name is BlueTurbo, and I'm a base builder." We're ALL base builders, the title of the thread includes "a letter from the Base Builders". We all have a level of passion for this aspect of the game. I think that's a good thing. Why is it so wrong for players who play a game to point to areas where they can see something that can be done better? Do the game developers really do everything that badly? They obviously started with a pretty descent product, we're all still here playing a pretty good game. Some players can now make heroes and villains that wag their tails. Did that get messed up and completely break some aspect of the game? What about all the booster packs that have come out? Don't they add something for the players that have chosen to purchase them? Is the game broken because of AE? I would like to give the devs some credit for continuing to improve on a great product through the years. No one's perfect and you can't please everyone, but do you really think that beakers is the best that can be done to bases? Just look through some of the other base suggestion threads, and you'll see that I'm not the only one who wants additions in design and function. Do you really think that a gaping hallway equals a door? I don't. So go ahead stack your desks, stick your head in the sand and keep telling yourself that doing nothing is the best option. I don't think these are unrealistic requests, and I don't think they are too hard to do. Maybe I'm spitting in the wind, but it's my spit. And maybe some of it will get on a developer and make them take a look at some of the posts in the base builders forum.

You're really going to start counting the players who would prefer that nothing get done to the base system? Do you think the other people posting here in this "Dear Devs" letter would really rather have nothing at all done? I am tired of the status quo, and I am not ready to go quietly. I think there are others who would also like to see features and items ADDED , not changed. I am adding my voice to those who would gladly attract the attention of any of the game developers, in this forum, in messages to them directly and in person at the many cons. Don't count my vote for number 1. There are other choices.
