Oh! So curious to see what your take on Domi is.. ;-)
-
Well done!
Now I just hope we get a letter from Hero 1...
Ajax's would be neat as well since he was the one who actually survived ... -
I have the following Defenders right now on different servers:
Empath/Psi
Rad/Rad
Force field/Electricity
- all level 50.
Sonic/Sonic- 38 or so.
Cold/Ice - Level 32.
I tend to run Scrappers and Controllers more than my Defenders as I solo a lot.
On the other hand, I really enjoy doing Task Forces.
Of the below Task Forces, which Defender would you be inclined to use or invite to your Task Force team, and why:
Imperious Task Force
Katie Hannon Task Force
Lady Grey Task Force
Dr. Khan Task Force -
So I have conceived a mad massion to get my Fire/WP Scrapper the Vanguard outfit. She currently has a bit under 400 Vanguard Merits.
Paragon Wiki says she needs over 1000!
That price seem high to anyone else?
Second, do you get a bonus of Vanguard Merits for completing the Lady Gray TF? -
Well done, Zortel!
But the reason I want a quiet meeting between Recluse and Statesman is to use it as an excuse to tell the whole origin of Statesman and Recluse and the Freedom Phalanx.
Statesman and Recluse's meeting would be the wraparound to the main story ... and the end would have Recluse's minions and the Freedom Phalanx showing up to fight with Recluse and Statesman stepping between them to put a stop to the fight ... for that day.
There are a couple of reasons why I would want to play a scene like this.
Depending on whether or not you accept the novels as canon, Stefan and Marcus weren't just foxhole buddies ... they literally grew up together. Stefan's father took Marcus and his brother (would make for an interesting story if we found out that Marcus's dead brother was either Tyrant or Reichsman in another reality) in when their parents died. I'd like to think some ties still linger though both Marcus and Stefan would deny it ...
(After all, doesn't the idea that Clark Kent and Lex Luthor were close friends at one point make the story of Luthor Vs. Superman so much more interesting?)
Aside from the familial connections, the fact remains that Recluse and Statesman are two of the last survivors of World War I. I've always thought that a neat scene would be Recluse and Statesman toasting to their fellow doughboys when the last American veteran of the War to End All Wars finally passes onto his great reward ... -
Going to have to make this quicker than I'd like since I have to head off to work in a few minutes, but I wanted to get the ball rolling to see what everyone came up with while I was gone.
What if the COX franchise really took off after the Going Rogue Expansion to the extent that there was interest in an Animated Series based on the game? What would you want to see in it? Any suggestions on who you would want to be the voice actor? Animation style?
As for me, I've got a few brief ideas:
Animation: Timmverse style. There's just something about that style of animation that really appeals to me in terms of a super hero show. Maybe it's because I've seen so much of it already ...
Content: If I were in charge, I would do the show similar to how JLU was set up. Most of the episodes would focus on the Freedom Phalanx and Recluse and his lieutenants, but I'd also do episodes focusing on other heroes and villains ... say an episode featuring Penny and the Clockwork King or an episode centered on the Adventures of Wretch and the Sidekick Villains ...
Overarching themes: I'd set up an arc for Ms. Liberty. At the beginning of the series, she would start out being the wholesome Goody Two-Shoes she seems to be when you first meet her after going through the Outbreak tutorial. The series would start right after the Rikti War with her just starting to stepping out of Statesman's shadow. Throughout the first season, she would face hard choices that would lead her down a path darker than her grandfather likes. The end of the first season would see her founding Longbow.
I would want to do spotlight/flashback episodes on the main characters showing how they came to be the heroes and villains they are today:
Citadel and Luminary would show us something of life for the non-organics of Paragon City. An ongoing theme would be showing how Lumi is much more accepted by people than Citadel and is something of a party girl. She'd face some setbacks along the way because of her desire to be "human", but she would also succeed in making Citadel somewhat less stuffy ...
Oh, and there would be an episode centering around the friendship/rivalry of Recluse and Statesman flashing back throughout their whole history. It would reveal that there's one day a year where they do NOT strike out at each other and come together in peace to talk about times gone by and toast to long gone friends and family ...
I have more ideas, but I want to hear what the rest of you think too ... So share already! -
Quote:I'm basing the whole "developing the personality of Jeanette aka Mrs. Luminary I" off Lumi's Paragon Wiki entry. I seem to recall that I've seen the reference in game but I can't really swear to that. It may not actually be canon, but if not it SHOULD be.Sure about that, Blue? I know her personality matrix (or w/e you like to call it) was designed to emulate the woman, but that doesn't mean she is turning into her.
For example: Citadel is based off Statesman genetic and personality patterns, but acts... not really like Statesman.
As for Citadel ... to be fair, we don't actually see much of ANY personality for him at all. (Which some might argue means he's an exact double of Statesman in personality ...)
But for what it's worth, my own thought about Citadel's personality is that-- since Crey built him as revealed in Manticore's "Fodder for the Canon" thread-- is that Citadel should actually SOUND like Statesman and have his body language (as gleaned from extensive viewing of footage of Statesman by Crey's scientists) with a personality that's based on the public's popular view of Statesman's personality rather than be an actual double of the complex person that is Marcus Cole.
It'd be like having Superman as seen in the next to the last season of the Justice League Unlimited Series dealing with a robot double that's actually based on the performance of Christopher Reeve ... -
I'd pay for jet boots ... not the rocket boots we have now, but boots like they had in the PPD Costume at Christmas. That rocked!
I'd also buy the jetpack if they'd offer it as a one-time fee instead of a 30 day rental. Given that they have now removed the level restriction to go into the Shard, I don't see why it would be unbalanced to offer it as a one-time price since anyone can get a jetpack if they want one without even doing the low level radio/newspaper mishs. -
Personally, I think they should release a "Cure Hero 1" TF on that day ... or have Hero 1 do an RWZ TF on every server that day ... ;-)
-
I said "'Shipping" because I tend to think of 'ships as being relationships that will never be canon.
I actually see Percy and Katie as more of a couple with Skipper going for Kelly Nemmers. Something about the way he introduces her just smacks of unrequited love to me ... *sighs as he thinks of yet ANOTHER fic he needs to write ...*
I actually think Lord Recluse is more spider than man, now ... and incapable of feeling romantic love or even physical desire for a human being these days. (Why else would he strive to reproduce himself using the Arachnoids?) On the other hand, there is also evidence suggesting that he had a thing for Red Widow so maybe he and Cole are both one-woman men ... which could suck for immortals...
Praetoria-wise, I think that Maurader and Dominatrix may actually be a clandestine couple ... just something about the idea that we see them together several times ... (though I don't think Tyrant would approve if he knew).
It's totally not canon with no real evidence to support it, but I could easily see Luminary as being in love with her predecessor, the human Luminary Kit Rafter. She was built to resemble his human wife and she's developing a personality similar to her's? Why would she NOT be in love with him? (Or vice versa ...)
(Oh, and Michelle? If you're reading this, you really need to do a scene where Posi and Sorina are shopping for wedding gifts and she pointedly tells him that she's going to make the pick-- giving a couple a robot modeled after the bride just strikes me as being a bit on the kinky side ...) -
And on the hand ...
Let's 'ship the NPCs. Who do you think hangs out, dates, or should date? Who would you set up on a blind date if you could ...
Some of my suggestions:
Statesman/Doc Delilah- I think that if Statesman ever gets over his grief over his wife to date again, he's going to have trouble with a relationship. For the last 70 years, the world has seen him as a savior, a parental figure-- how many women are going to look at him in a romantic like? It'd be like Santa trying to hit the dating scene ...
I think that Doc Delilah would find a man who's seen so much history-- he's been to Tartarus for gosh sakes!--- fascinating. They may or may not wind up in a romantic relationship, but I can see them definitely enjoying each other's company.
Mynx/Synapse: After doing the villain storylines about them, I just think that these two have one of the greatest "Moonlighting" relationships in the COX Universe. Neither one of them would probably ever be willing to act on it, but the only other relationshp that means as much to Synapse would be Positron (his heterosexual life partner).
Back Alley Brawler and Facemaker-- the only reason I mention these two is that I'm still ticked that my villain once "rescued" BAB's girlfriend from some baddies and he didn't even give me a lousy DO for it.
He deserves to suffer for that. -
I am an unusual beast.
For the last nine months or so, I have run two accounts. (I got my second account for two reasons; one, I had filled a number of slots up on my first account and I had some toons that I wanted to level without having to depend on finding or building a team that just could not solo well enough on their own to suit me.)
Here's what makes me unusual: I build concept toons to dual box with.
My first set-- and the only toons I have level pacted to 50-- were a Fire/Kin Controller and a Fire/WP Scrapper. They were sisters who had gotten their powers through a run in with the Hellions who had decided to fight for justice because they had seen that real evil exists. (In turn, they led me to create a Mace/Fire Armor Brute who's their little brother...)
My second set that I have played the most are a Sonic/Sonic Defender who's a robot and a cursed woman who's a Dark Melee/Fire Armor Scrapper. The Scrapper was cursed in that any man who sees her unmasked face is consumed by fear. Sonix Shieldbot, being a robot, does not have that problem, and is able to work well with her.
My most recent set are a Psi/Mental Blaster and an Empath/Psi Defender. The Defender is one of my oldest toons who had been stuck at 8 for the longest time because I already have a 50 Empath/Psi Defender and I hadn't really enjoyed the set that much. On the other hand, with a new look thanks to the Science Pack and newly colored powers thanks to Power Spectrum, I felt ready to play him to 50. To help him with that goal, I created his twin sister as a Psi/Mental Blaster.
The neat thing about this duo is that they are the children of a pair of heroes that I created in high school. Their father is a super human genius with formidable psychic gifts of his own; their mother is a powerful sorceress. Having grown up in the shadow of their parents, the Defender came to Paragon to become a hero on his own terms. His sister recently joined him to help him in his quest.
Having made the Empath a twin, I now find his character far more interesting to me than he was on his own. His sister is the dominant twin-- the proactive one. She's even the namesake of their father. I want to see how their journey through Paragon will shape their relationship with each other, and whether or not he will begin to assert his independence...
How many people who dual box build their characters with the intent of their being some relationship between the two toons?
And for those of you who don't dual box but have inter-related characters-- friends, lovers, family, what have you--tell us about some of your favorite "'Ships" ... -
Quote:Yeah.Do you mean Geoffrey Holder, of the 7-up ads campaign? (And he also appeared as Punjab in the 1982 version of ANNIE, if memory serves...)
Yes, he'd make a fantastic Mr. Bocor.

That's him.
Peter Cullen's "Optimus Prime" voice is who I hear as Statesman. -

Does Penny Preston, the Mutant Store Contact in Founders Fall, age or is prolonged youth a side effect of her abilities? Her biography describes her as being a teenager but she looks like a child and I somehow recall her as being described as being 11 years old in the past....
-
For those of you who don't know, Penny Preston is the level 30-40 Mutant Store in Founders Falls. Every time I get a hero side toon to 30, I do all the store missions. I've done them so many times that I don't normally click on the "Ask About This Contact" link.
This time, I did.
It describes Penny Preston as being a teenager.
Thing is, she still looks like a kid, and I'd swear that her biography used to say that she was an 11 year old child.
So does anyone know if Penny Preston is aging or not or is prolonged youth one of her gifts? -
He may not be exactly on the same level as most of these characters, but I have a level 50 Elec Melee/WP brute named Damon B. McCoy.
Damon is the semi-identical evil twin cousin of my Illusion/Kinetic hero, Simon McCoy. Simon is one of my most favorite characters to play ... so much so that I have built another version of him on another server that I'm leveling just so I could have the fun of getting him to 50 again. Simon's backstory is that he's a mutant who didn't realize he was one until an encounter with the Vahzilok. Surviving that incident, Simon went on to become a hero of Paragon though he never took an alias and didn't even start to wear a costume until he was forced to do so to allow him to get close enough to the Countess Crey after she framed him for a crime he did not commit (see the final Countess Crey arc for more details).
Before Simon's mutation activated, Simon and Damon looked like virtual identical twins. (After his powers manifested, Simoon's skin took on a golden hue.) The Countess kidnapped Damon and experimented on him in hopes of learning something about the McCoy genetic code that would allow her to A) Defeat Simon B) Make even MORE money.
It didn't quite work out that way.
Damon WAS a mutant. His powers DID manifest, but he was a Brute instead of a Controller. He used his newfound powers to escape and started wreaking havoc in Paragon until Simon was obliged to capture him and send him to the Zig.
Damon doesn't like Crey AT ALL, and he's not happy with Simon either as he feels that he never would have been kidnapped and tortured if Simon had simply taken on an alias and costumed identity when he began his costumed career. Damon also isn't thrilled with Paragon law enforcement in general as they haven't shut down the Countess.
The thing about Damon is that he's not an over-the-top "Grr, I'm evil!" sort of guy. Damon doesn't consider himself evil at all. Like his cousin, he's a fun-loving guy who's great to have on your team. He loves going into a fight that taxes him to see if he's got the stuff to come out on top.
Aside from his powers, the main difference between Damon and Simon, the reason that he's a villain instead of a hero, is that Damon doesn't care about the consequences. He doesn't set out to kill anyone or harm innocent bystanders-- he may even feel bad about it when it happens-- but that doesn't stop him from doing so again.
To give you an example of what I mean, here's something in his backstory: Damon meets a Longbow soldier in Pocket D. They hit it off. Simon meets her as well and warns her about his cousin, but she doesn't pay attention-- especially after Damon saves her life in the RWZ. They start a romance of sorts.
Then she's called on to defend the Peregrine Island bank from a villain attack, and who does she see beating the heck out of her friends but her brand new bad-boy boyfriend!
She tells him to stop-- not only does he not listen, but he decks her as well.
Later on, they meet in Pocket D and Damon can't understand why she's mad at him. After all, she understands the way things work-- and any injuries he gave her or her friends are healed by the advance Rikti tech-- so why is she mad at him?
And that's the thing about Damon that makes him one of my more disturbing villains. Not that he's some deliberately evil guy, but that he isn't. He just doesn't care what happens to other people.
And he'll never undersand why that matters. -
Oh, and one more thing: I keep hearing "You betcha" whenever I imagine Desdemona talking ...
-
I don't have it for everyone, but certain NPCs have "voices" that I hear their dialogue in when I read the text.
Montague Castanella sounds like Ian McKellen as Magneto.
Percy Winkler sounds like Wesley from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (before he got cool in Angel).
Mercedes Sheldon sounds like Darla (also from Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
Skipper LaGrange sounds like Michaelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Turtles.
Gordon Bower is Oliver Hardy.
Kelly Nemmers is Mary Anne from Gilligan's Island.
Katie Hannon is some generic British girl ... maybe the oldest girl in the Narnia movies. (Or possibly a young Olivia Newton John.)
Doc Delilah is Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft without the British accent.
Synapse is Xander from Buffy.
Faultline is Dean Winchester.
What voice do you "hear" for your favorite NPCs? -
Quote:It was a pain in the butt to fix. I'm in North America. And trust me, funding wasn't the problem. It's not necessarily either of their fault. Do you have enough money in the account?
Are you buying from a country which doesn't deal well with NC? They have a number of problems with south american countries, though I thought they'd fixed some of those by using paypal at all. Dunno. But I don't think it's worth getting your panties in a bunch about.
They didn't say why, but I think it was because I made two of the exact same purchases at the same time.
And I had to change my Paypal password, resubmit my credit card information, and go through an automated phone call to confirm my account. And THEN spend 15 minutes on the phone to fix it. So, yeah. That torked me off. -
I called Paypal directly and authorized the payment. They closed the issue and said they sent an e-mail to the seller to let them know.
That's the last time I make a purchase for the NcSoft Store using Paypal ... -
I ordered the Ninja Pack for both of my accounts using Paypal, and they decided that was suspicious behavior. I just had to jump through hoops to get my Paypal restored. The Resolution Center thing still leaves an open issue saying they sent e-mails to NcSoft for dispute resolution.
If this costs me Going Rogue Beta Access because it screws up my Account I am going to be VERY unhappy!!!
Who the heck does Paypal think they are?! -
This is probably not technically feasible at all, but I thought I'd toss it out and see what everyone else had to say about it.
I've suggested/hoped for cross-server teaming before, but now I thought of an added hook.
Say that COX offered a Passport ... basically, it's a temp power you can purchase that would allow you to move any toon you wanted from one server to another and back again. The difference between that and server transfer now is that your toon STILL keeps their home server and SG Membership ... they can just journey to parallel realities to help out other heroes (or villains) at need.
How much would you be willing to pay for this feature?
I don't know what would be a fair price. Obviously it should be considerably more than the server transfer that we have now, but I don't have a hard and fast figure.
And again, it's probably not all that doable from a technical standpoint, but I just thought I'd toss the idea out and see what people thought of it.
Edit: I'm shooting for a one-time fee rather than a per usage charge. -
I don't think we're at the point where they need to merge servers, but I do wish that we could do cross-server teaming. I may have three or more friends playing at the same time on different servers. I'd love it if everyone could play their favorite toons at the same time no matter which server we're on.
In fact, I just had an idea.
