The other major (imo) effect of Domination is status defense of about 9.6 (iirc) to everything. Since Domination can be used even WHEN mezzed (thus often breaking them, unless stacked), this can be a pretty hefty defense against such effects.

Well, I can certainly see the Engrish goin' on, here. Choking hazard? Not so much. I think "gagging" was the word they were trying for...

Quote:I guess I'm just too much the "teach a man to fish... the hard way..." kind of guy. I'd be far more likely to accept the invite and wait for them to try to start their TF, only to find out that SOMEone is an inappropriate level, and have to figure out who it is. Has the advantage of teaching them to actually read the TF contact dialog. Also, oddly enough, has the advantage of getting far fewer snippy responses. One of the few I ever got was along the lines of:I'll reply with "You can limit your search to appropriate level ranges - which I'm not in - by..." and give them a quick rundown of what to do. Similar to seeing "Level 35 xyz lft" in Atlas - I'll quietly point them at the appropriate zones. A search 2-3 minutes later will tend to show them in the right place.
If they get snippy back, well, then things can get interesting. Or not, if I choose to just one-star them and throw them on ignore.
TF Leader: "Why the $%@ are you here wasting my time?" (Was actually WITH them, standing patiently at the contact, waiting for the inevitable realization)
Me: "I don't know, why AM I here wasting my time?"
TF Leader: "Why didn't you tell me you were the wrong level for the TF?!?"
Me: "I didn't have to - the TF contact and the search window already did that."
Other TF Members: *rofl*, *lol*, etc. -

Heh, a lot of folks seem to complain about the MM TA secondary, but my wife soloed her Mercs/TA through... just about everything... A lot of procs you can hide in those debuffs.
-
The IO sets are actually attached to YOU, so the procs are always there. Much like Supremacy, they lose them if they wander to far away from you, but none of the def or res procs require you to have the pets they are "on" summoned at the time.

Best way to get those is to swim up one side and down the other, since they are ON the water. Have gotten them to register every time that way.

In order to, I think, answer more effectively, if the fliers are high enough (about 20 feet or so), the persistent damage field doesn't reach the ground, any more than a flier who's high enough is affected by the ones ON the ground. They are not "columns" that extend from the flight ceiling to the ground. That being said, if they're not at least 50 feet up or so, the ones they "generate" are still a problem for folks on the ground that spend the fight jumping around a lot, because they can't always see them from the ground, and can end up jumping through them unexpectedly.

Heh, if you find this amusing, go check out the Rude Tells thread.

I know ONE of the criteria that changed was the need to defeat the Ghost of Scrapyard, rather than the 200 (or whatever number) rioting scrapyarders. Was changed in issue 15 or 16 iirc, but I can't check at the moment because cohtitan seems to be down or inaccessible at the moment.

Quote:Don't know that I'd re-roll him, might send a petition/bug report in and see if they respond and can help. Other than that, might consider rolling a new toon in the isles and burning it to 20, rather than "wasting" the time you spent on the one you already have.Yeah, it's been a day or two since I hit 20 and I've relogged in as the character a few times. Apparently it doesn't unlock since I started him in preatoria.
That seems kindof lame, I guess I'll have to reroll him starting in the isles. Especially lame since it told me I unlocked them. -
Had to think about this a bit, because I had a similar problem back when the necessary level was still 50. Question: did you log out completely and then come back later to try and create your SoA? The reason I ask is that I ended up having to log into my villain first, and then exit to login (and now character selection is an option) before it would let me create one.

Eventually, we all reach the point of packing up and moving on. Thank you for the time you've spent with us, and may your ongoing journey forward always be an adventure, sir. You will be sorely missed.

Quote:No, it isn't. In fact it is an inevitable one. Sooner or later either the AE system in particular or the game in general will be shut down. When that happens everyone's arcs get "junked". There is no reason to burden the system with garbage no one including the creator is even touching any more.Quote:"Eventually the game is going to die so who cares what happens" is a remarkably stupid, shortsighted argument even for you.
Gratz on lowering your own bar, which I thought was already resting on the ground.
Seriously, the point I took from the first statement was perfectly pragmatic and obvious: if the unmaintained, unplayed arcs are never removed from the system, they will remain in the system until the game itself is shut down which, at SOME point, is inevitable.
I neither foresee nor want the AE itself shut down but, again, if it is, all the chaff goes away as well. As things stand now, it may very well die (through lack of use, even if the AE system remains in the game) BECAUSE of said chaff. Is that REALLY what the "don't purge ANY arcs" crowd is after? -
Quote:Trust me, as tired as I am, I'm quite aware of how many arcs would get wiped. I'm just not sure how many AE authors would actually mind, if getting the system cleaned up would eventually get their arcs NOTICED.Since there are literally hundreds of thousands of arcs, the vast majority aren't going to be played recently. Basically you're removing any which have had the bad luck to be overlooked. Even if they become "invisible" but still in the system, you're still aggravating authors by making them republish. Same goes with arcs by inactive players -- some may be quite good and shouldn't be punished for not currently playing.
The only real plan I can get behind that would tick off the fewest people is to find all the arcs which are broken due to updates and make them "invisible." That way if people want to fix their arcs, they can. If they're inactive they won't care. If and when they return they can fix them.
Anyway, now I'm REALLY tired. G'night. -
Gah, finally found the thread mentioned by wife (D_R/Samuraiko).
To respond to the thread itself - why don't I play it more? Chaff... metric kilotons of it. Why don't I use it? Partly personal, and partly functional. Once upon a time, there were several maps in the system that I badly wanted to use in several arcs. They were determined to be "broken", removed from the system, and never returned. Bad taste in the mouth syndrome, and quite certainly my issue to "deal" with. Functionally, better tools needed, both regarding the interface itself, and with regard to what game mechanics are available to the system itself. For example, I'd like to be able to design custom GMs, but there's no option to scale an opponent that large.
Getting a bit tired, so I'm unlikely to be thinking through the ramifications effectively, but in response to the folks that would like to see the vast bulk of garbage-arcs culled from the system...
I'm wondering if it would be possible/useful/fair to ditch arcs that haven't been PLAYED within the passage of a certain amount of time. Granted, this doesn't get rid of any active farms, but it does at least clear anything that has "dropped off the radar", and if it's the work of an active AE author, can be republished, since it's still presumably saved locally. Yes, they lose their ratings... but we all seem to know what the rating system itself is worth.
After that, implement a similar system for regularly culling arcs that aren't played for increasing amounts of time. For example:
Delete if not played within 3 days.
Then, delete if not played within 7 days.
Then, 14 days.
Then, 30 days.
60 days
90 days
180 days, rechecking thereafter every 180 days
Thoughts? Pros and cons? The solution seems fairly simple to me... which almost certainly means that it's far too late this evening for me to be posting in a completely intelligent fashion.
edit - Yes, definitely getting tired; thinking too much about this. Regarding being able to identify farms: A meter showing how many plays a given arc has received in the past 7 days. Ten? Either a) not a farm, or b) a bad farm. 62,947? Ummm... is this really as simple as it seems to me, at the moment? -
My response to a (frequently) unwanted Speed Boost remains unchanged: the Walk power.
-
"Bane of Titans" perhaps.
Not sure I'd get behind an accolade for this one, though I would for it being for all GMs on both sides. If youy're getting it for a badger, you're side-flipping ANYway. -
