I offen get to a point when designing a costume within CoX that I wonder: "why isn't this an option?"

That is the purpose of this thread. I know, this seems like a selfindulgent excercise (it is on the surface ), but I hope to bring forward an honest serving of "yeah, why not?" when it comes to the costume creator. I have always been a believer in "showing" rather than "telling", so another goal of this thread is VISUAL REPRESENTATIONS of the things I will be wanting/discussing.
To facilitate these "visual representations" I will use a dummy toon... TESTbot_01

TESTbot_01 will be modeling through use of Photoshop. Fear not, when the time comes for an alternate BODY being required... TESTbot_01 has a sister and huge big brother.

First up: something simple... Shoulder pieces.

Here TESTbot_01 is showcasing three(3) variations of exsisting shoulder options that I have offen wondered "why not?"

Double Large Skull - Reverse Gladiator - The Romulus Lite


This idea can be applied to other shoulder options (no doubt if these can be accomplished), so I refrained from including every shoulder option. I did choose to limit my examples to "legacy" or "non costume pack" costume pieces.

Next up: Robotic Arm options!

Why are we limited to merely "robotic" options. Recently the Fire & Ice veteran costumes added a handy selection of elemental full right arm options. Why stop there? I propose this...

Here TESTbot_01 is showing a "Metallic" arm option (something I would give my arm for).


But why stop there? This idea can translate to other currently available costume options. Here are a few:

Just out of curiosity, are you using the NC Soft launcher or the CoH Updater?

I have never played an Ice Armor tank, but have been teamed with some very impressive ones. I have an Ice Armor stalker, it is fun and durable. For some good defence stacking I paired it with Ninja Blade. My concept for my character was a psychic assassin, I colored the shields dark purple so they are barely visible and I have the Fire & Ice elemental flame blade colored a similar purple color (ala Psylocke).
It's a fun combo and I personally enjoy my take on "ice" armor.

Off topic:
Seeing the Pure West Batman gives me an idea... I want masks with thinly painted on eyebrows in the costume creator.

Rodion has it... Hit beta, try before you buy. Simple solution, fun to boot, knock yourself out.

Maybe Medicine could be given a "Serum" type steroid buff, either self or teammate. Roid-Rage on demand!

True, we can not help you here, a petition is in order. However, may I suggest you check all character slots on Freedom, check every page to be sure they didn't get shifted. Also check every server, all slots and pages on those too to be sure they weren't bounced there. Compile a list, to the best if your reckoning, exactly what characters/AT/level/hero-or-villian/etc. and include it to the petition.

Hope you get some assistance and resolution.

When using the /search command the window appears showing those in the current zone with you. Those NOT shown are those from a different faction and those that are hidden. With the search window open and clicking the "search" button in the window results in a compiled search of all characters from your faction. The window only shows a maximum of 50 names. Repeating the search button will load the next batch of names until all non-hidden are shown. The pull down windows in the search are self explanatory.

I have encountered an issue when using the search command where no one is listed and a refresh was needed. Similar to your university experiment. It is possible those around you were hidden. Were their names present upon a refresh of the search window?

How about all free players have their characters default idle animation be the "savage" (screaming ape emote from the animal pack) animation. That way a simple glimpse around Atlas can spot all the freebie players.

Oh have all their chat in the Help and LFG channel be preempted by "duh, I'm free"

seriously, I agree with the OP's concerns, and like sending pms before invites... Sadly, the LFG channel is the best solution we got currently.

If being found annoys you... Try: /hide or /hideall
Those will keep you off the radar from everyone except Gawd and the GMs.

Make an homage character.

I have to agree with Stone Daemon, too automated.

Secondly, personally the only times I have been "surprised" by my characters face planting have been when when I just snap back after a quickie map serve or bad rubberband jam session. However, not as surprised as when I am actually still standing after one of those.

Have a look at Defenders/Corruptors. Browse the forums on those two aswell. Lots of good advice and playstyles to get a feel for on the players guides also. If DeBuffing the enemy is confusing or tricky, stick to Buffing the group. Pain Dom, Empathy, Force Field, Sonic Res, Thermal, Cold Dom can be just as welcome and overly helpful on any team... Or you can roll a Trick Arrow and drop patches (no target required) and watch all melt and stick and twitch and burn.

Look into Doms. Great control and nasty range/melee dps potential.
Mind is not.. well, great at DPS. Great control, just short on damage. The way mind works is, you are a buffer zone between cascading mob agro. Mezzing a close mob so it doesn't spill onto the one your team is chewing through gets to be the norm.

By late game (incarnate content), your character will have enough iPowers to fill in whatever gaps you think you have. Making a Tankmage is darn near certain in a lot of builds regarless of AT. If it is in fact DeBuffing/Buffing/Team stuff you want, then Defenders/Corruptors can't be beat. Controllers can be better at DPS while bringing sizable Mez to the group. Some Troller builds are just plain silly as far as Mez potential.

Explore the ATs, as a VIP you have plenty of slots and access to the Test Server/Beta to test any build you want.

Recent financial hurdles saw their way to my credit card and I was forced to allow my account to lapse into "premium" status until I can inject my coffers with green again.

Anyhoo, I was hoping to jump onto Test and play with some concept builds and whatnot... come to find out, Test is locked to me. It is requiring me to be a VIP. Is this accurate? I know Beta has the VIP lock to it, but I thought Test was open for Premiums and Free players.

Anyone have the specifics regarding Test Access?

I'd go with Empathy/Pain Domination with self destruct my only attack power next to brawl. I'd also grab Rise of Phoenix from the epic pool. I'd call her, Nurse Gemini.

The Hellions needs a fire fox... A mystical fox that spits fire and poops imps.
The Skuls need a shadow hound that barks gloom and poops shades.
The Trolls need a roided up SupaDog that barks handclap and poops hurl boulder.
The Rikti need an alien mut that barks time stop and poops rad blasts.
...
...

See where I'm going with this... The four legged rig needs more play, cuz it's fast and cheap.

Seriously though, I do like the above suggestions by other posters.

Ok, took this theoretical character to beta and realized I have zero interest in playing this. After all the lvling to 23 I sat there thinking, "why the heck am I doing this? This is no fun..." Toon deleted.

Thanks for the replies... You all could've just said "Shut up BC!" And I'd have been equally wiser for it. ;P

If I remember correctly, the weapon draw time is factored into the activation time. So theoretically the dps should be factored as normal based on the activation and recharge times.

Now of course the real number crunchers can weigh in and put this question to bed.

Yes,they do indeed need to change the copy... Or hotlink that ad to a page specifying exactly how you obtain these pieces from the Market, cuz I want to know that trick.

Tier 9 VIP reward set exclusive. Sorry.
They need to specify that or announce you must purchase points up to that level to obtain.
