Quote:Wanted to highlight this point, pardon the semi-thread necro. One of the most frightening player duo I ever saw in PvE was a BS/Shield Scrapper, a Shield/Super Strength Tanker. The 2 build their characters around eachother, know that they will both recieve the benefit form grant cover as well as 2 ticks of Phalanx Fighting each. The whole concept was insane, not t mention their damage output was just incredible alone, there was almost no need for me to buff or do almost anything to help them besides toss heals in now and then.Nice guide, only disagree about the utility of Grant cover. I'd rate it an 8 or 9 teamed. although a 1 solo. With it you can help the tanker and nearby scrapper's survivability, help keep that squishy you run to save alive if your first swipe at the baddie doesn't kill it, or use in combo with other shield tanks and scrappers to make a formidible anchor in the middle of a grouped mob, each of you helping the defense of the others.
For me this was one of the major appeals of the set, a scrapper set that provided a very useful buff to other members of the team, something truly distinctive.
If you're a shield scrapper or tank, watch out for other Shield scraps and tanks, as they you can benefit them and vice versa. -
I tank on my crab and I dont even worry about hitting aggro cap. Venom Grenade + Suppression and team AoEs, kills all of th minions and LTs, usually. For tanks it shouldnt be hard to handle groups past the cap with the various mitigations options you have. Super Strength can selectively knockdown sections with footstomp (thatsame technique applies to mace and axe I think), Ice can slow cones and taunt seperate chunks of enemies, Energy Melee can toss stuns around and taunt the non-stunned, the list goes on. If tankers are going to have to stand out over ED it'll just take some skill. Not to mention you're forgetting that you should have a team with you, which generally, each member can solo at least 1 enemy, not even factoring in whatever mezzes, lockdown or support they have.

Quote:A long time ago, there were Fire/Ice Tanks. They wre incredible. Nowadays, not so much. Ice Patch is good on its own, but the radius isnt very high, whereas burn's radius is twice as big or so. They're a great combo on paper, but in practice a combination of taunt, a taunt/damage aura, and AoEs works better.Hey folks,
I know about the changes made to both powers from some time ago. Just wondering if these have good synergy still. And if I should expect a really good output of damage versus the effort (Burns dmg vs. mobs running away in fear and cap on ice patch).
I do see some folks aren't happy with them because they are looking for more ways to keep foes in vicinity of combined powers.
I would rather giggle in glee than somewhat glee.
Thanks in advance. -
No. This will only happen when I can have the following as a power pool.
Unstoppable (6)
Knockout Blow (6)
Rage (14)
Foot Stomp (20) -
The difference proably has something to do with the -Def component. Or mybe that you can slot it with an Achilles Heel -Res proc. Firing that off every second with defiance would make it a complete monster.

Keep an open mind. We have a hefty amount of RPers (which are a minority, but still, its more than any other server).
Main channels you'll want: VU2009 and Virtue TFs.
And welcome to Virtue! -

The softcapped ranged defense will be nice, but I have to agree wih everyone else in saying that it sacrifices an awful lot. Also, there's no reason those generic Accuracy IOs should be in those attacks, they should be Recharges or damage procs, or even better, the Achilles Hel -res proc. Not to mention you'll barely ever miss with TT: Leadership and the +Acc passive on at the same time. It's just a superfluous amount of Accuracy that isn't needed. Also, you shouldn't need the seadfast +3 def to all thing. It's nice, but expensive. Try slotting a full set of Thunderstrike in longfang instead.
Also, you want Serum, trust me. Fortification, Maneuvers, Tough and Weave all deserve at least 1 EndRedux IO (or 3 and 4 pieces of Gift of the Ancients (for defense sets) and Impervium Armor (For resistance), they both offer recovery bonses with are nice, and some +Max End, all of which will help). -
I occasionally see 2 sappers in a group, though it might just be 2 little groups near each other. But sappers really arent a big deal if you're paying attention. Just kill it first and move on.

If you're fine on END now I see no reason to take Physical Perfection.

My TanCrab. With Survivablity numbers ourperforming a shield or Ice tank, Provoke, 4 group toggles, and a bunch of AoEs, He's basically an unstoppable killing machine that I've used to prove tanks/brutes aren't the end-all beat-all.

Red on Red isn't THAT hard but it's easier to read the whit text. (I'm using villain skin).

10 Pages? Whew! The first page is inticing, I'll certain read the rest as soon as I get some time.
-
Scratch me off that list. Something has come up I can't avoid. Sorry.
-
Shield Tanker is now level 10. Name is Captain Mask.
-
Posi? If I can get my Shield/SS Tanker up to 10 by 7 tonight I'll go.

I haven't got much experience with Fire Blast or with Radiation Emission so I'll keep this brief. I was wondering about Choking Cloud, and is it neccesary if I'm not going to be in melee range much? Also, Fire Breath, is it better tha the tanker/scrapper version? Em Pulse seems to be nothing I can make use of considering all of the other Debuffs Radiation has and my tight build. Is it really worth it or can I live without it?

Since i16 went live, I've been DCing from game, crashing at random moments, and have been having an incredibly hard time loading missions. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong, and I'm not about to yell "dooooom!", but do you think this may have something to do with the incredible graphical/cosmetic change to the game that was just added, not to mention the increasing stability issue frequency? Specifically I've been trying to play on Virtue's redside in Mercy Island. I havent even attempted to play anywhere else for fear of constant crashing. Anyone know if this is a legitimate bug or something and not just CoH showing its age?
-
Ok, problem solved. Just deleted the pigg and let it fix the CoH folder itself. Works fine now.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured posting it somewhere would lead me in the right direction eventually.
Am I the only one having an issue getting the game to launch from the launcher? Every time I hit next -> Accept I get the following:
Quote:Relaunching the launcher makes it verify, then fix files. Launching again gets the same error. You can probably understand why I wouldn't want to reinstall, what with all the patching involved. What do you guys suggest?./piggs/texVWorld2.pigg: string Datapool error-1
Your data might be corrupt, please run the patcher and try again -
Webmaster Grave looks up after punching out some puny arachnos soldiers who were attempting to cash in on he bounty.
The flyer passes overhead and he removes his hat and salutes to it.
"Y'all ain' never gonn' see a soldier 's good as he was."
Spits on the semi unconcious soldiers.
"Y'all got alotta work ta' do."
OOC: Seriously though, it's always a sad moment when you stop playing your main. I do hope you come back to virtue for the Going Rogue madness, though. -
I could have sworn having radiation powers that amazing made you immune to such petty diseases.
Get well "soon".
