i wouldnt worry about being melee heavy, so long as u have some reasonably fast damage output at range, the energy primary is poor against anyone iwth energy res and isnt amazing dmg imo. the snipes nice tho.

if all ur stuns hit their chance to stun u should just about be able to stun a scrapper, but not a 50 tank, their protection is too high, you would need something like an ice/nrg or an elec/elec with all 3 holds to hit the mag 12 odd you need (think its more like 9 uactually need but can hit that).

KB is stackable, but not many people can do it through acro, i never get knocked down by energy blasters with acro up, and on test it stays up a lot more and i dont go down, nor against ill trollers who do a lot of KB with heir pets.

the thing you are looking for is a sustained KB mag, so get the powers you are thinking of against you in the arena and see if their icons stay on your buff bar at all, I have KBed an honoured brute before, and even a GA tank (possibly brute, cant quite remember) but afaik elec KBs stack.

o and btw, dont skip your epics, at least take a shield, its the difference between a scrapper mashing me in pvp and me standing there laughing at their face as i drain them. scrappers try to joust ME, not the other way around, so whos scared of who?

i would suggest going elec cos im biased tbph tho, you are energy, u have no ranged control and elec or fire would give u this, or munitions i believe, but this isnt really a minmax/pvp choice

the hold and the armour are great, highly worth slotting, FoN from the energy pool is amazing as long as its up, but the charged armour of elec has a 1 second recharge which is great in pvp, the attack and the nuke i wouldnt worry too much about, but up to u. force is prolly nice if u are worried about dying (pff to save) and repulsion field if u dont wana go into melee.

fires ok, nice hold, self rez, but meh. ice i wouldnt bother with, just doesnt really do the damage thing and its shield is def based.

as max said, only take the epic shields, they are something like 6x more effective at resing more types of damage.

for a million reasonsu dont need them, but to boil it down to what counts most, no blaster with fighting has ever beaten me, maybe if they had the damage output i had or the control they would have? but i know it didnt make the difference to let them win

ok lets clarify, testify!

TB, mid range extreme damage large (blaster large) AoE, high end drain, foe -rec, self -rec. 100% energy damage.

1st point, if you dont have aim and you have TB, respec, and at the very least drop TB for aim, it will boost ur overall damage output far more than a heavily slotted TB.

using TB as a drain, not a bad idea, its base drain is something in the region of 30 to an even level, i wou;ld advise sotting for drain only after slotting for either recharge or damage, if you have slots. i would aso say that as a drain use it only after at least short circuit, power sink comes after tB if you are /elec also.

slotting damage is great if you do missions on inviclible in large groups, i have found that soloing it is better used slotted with just 3 recharge and a damage if spare, using aim and BU each time. in short, the higher mobs you tend to hit, the more youneed it to hit hard than hit often. if you like to pvp then 3 damage is great, you will pretty much wipe out a squishy with it and BL with aim/BU.

TB's debuffs: to yourself it is -recovery, it costs about 30 end to use off thet top of my head and if it hits nothing, you lose no more but are debuffed ( a massive pain for power sink only blasters), if you hit one target expect the overall cost to be more like 50 end, and if you hit 2 or more targets you should bottom out. foes wont regain end for about 12 seconds or something if they are even level but this isnt 100% accurate, jsut off the 3000 hours of elec i have played .

i wouldnt slot it for range.

slotting for acc is worth it, 1 acc for pvp minimum i would suggest, as to hit buffs and acc work slightly differently but personally i dont slot it for acc.

the drain idea is viable but less so vs high lvl mobs and large mobs post ED and +end critter boost.

personally i dont use it any more, 1 single target ranged blast, 1 AoE, 1 pet saem as the single target, 3 melees and a few drains and holds fills up the power options. i slot 1 recharge into everything and took stamina, an alternative and still fun way to build this blater would be to slot an endred in each attack in place of a recred, drop stamina, pick up the extra ranged attack and snipe, and you are left with 1 more, for more powers to cycle drop hasten and pick 1 more power, this feels more fun, and is still effective, but less blapper=death to all in 1 on 1 pvp if you follow me.

snipe, worst opener if you think aim and BU are the way to start a snipe, great for hammering stalkers who try to run, not that much use other than those.

brute who can mez me mashes me in not very much time, those that dont slot for mezdur i get away from and come back healed, those that can take it for a while the fury really starts to get to me, but i can out drain them and bounce and drain and repeat and zzz borimg. but if i have to prove i can win. GA is a pain but not much of a threat wiothout someone who knows to drop it once they have mezzed the target (as if they are nrg/stone). not sure aboutpost nerf but i know that the WW energy blasters annihilate brutes faster than i can blink, but then i can take them in 3 moves if they dont DP properly or whatever. as with many builds, they really heavily on DP type powers and without them dont do too well, whereas a blaster generall gets to pound out their combos with no downtime, i cycle through 6 attacks 2 holds and 2 buffs erpeatedly without running out of end or attacks usually, and to those who debuff, it generally only takes one combo to take them out if they arent bright enough to run from Aim/BU so the debuffs mean squat anyways.

glad to see ppl are still arguing about it, botty and some stalkers are fun to fight, but most bore me to tears, not that they are bad players, just the AT is meant to work in a way that is great fun to see workking, but pretty miserable to be on the receiving end of.

Lightning Field has the same range as SC but PS is lower if im right in my thinking, not that i use it, but i think that Lightning Clap is the same range as PS.

In giving 10 ATs each with 2 sets City of Heroes can have so many different builds however so it does take skill to spot the better AT builds and use them well, (left CoH in I4 due to lack of PvP but when the game came out I remember controllers were thought of as completely useless and blappers were laughed at, infact if you even mentioned you liked fighting in the arena it was almost enough to get you kicked out a team ).

Anyway skill has loads to do with it but personally I think bad skill will effect most fights more then good and at high level PvP build wins out.

[/ QUOTE ]so i read a few posts here, can i just say on this point that ihave beaten arch whatshisface with his ice/storm controller, and yes he had hurricane and storm cloud, and ice patch, and freezing rain, there wasnt much wrong with his build, he was a little out of practice with that toon, but i still won 3-2 or more. skill comes into it a fair bit, amongst all skilled players i think builds make more difference, and tactics (which is skill), but a good player can devastate an inexperienced/bad pvper with any decent build they put together from any sets. at level 4 or so with a blaster i could beat a WS with nova form, go figure!? on the onion i beat some 50 scrappers with a buil of plight at 44 i copied from US, he has jumping etc, but also has slotted aid other and single slotted stimulant, this means he has less melee attacks/holds and 1 slotted shields to resist, still beating a regenner who wasnt really up to it.

it is, i think, very annoying that a bad player can beat u with a great pair of (as)sets and im talking ice/en/WW/PB/aid self in open pvp where u dont insp tank etc, when the playerobviously doesnt have the skill to beat u if u had identical builds, or at least balanced ones, other than that i dont mind losing to ppl with these builds when i have seen they are good with any toon.

lol Nad, good post, some good points raised some not so, but i would defo agree with xan, build is nothing without a good player, but with a good player builds do make a huge difference (see the stormie who didnt hurricane me til i asked them too, or the blasters who dont use holds cos i have BFs and must therefore be unholdable)

i will fight u, but on test where i am far faster, on live i find it hard to get near u even tho i can tp, on test i am just generally faster, ur damn pets are a pain, but im sure i could do something, ur healing rate sucks pretty badly iirc (u are rad). tbh i would say that the antithesis of this build is not unbuildable, just not easy to see, a blaster could be it, but would need at least 2 travel powers to cope, we shall see. I'll look u up nad

I think if you havent got it by now, there sosmething wrong Loki is one of the nicest, most pleasant and always fun people on the server and I'm so happy that after having to leave for a little while she has come back and gotten to 50 as she so much wanted to do, and I'm really proud to say that she calls the SG home
