  1. While it's a nice idea, I don't think it would be used much. Those powers basically exist to give players another attack at low levels, since it takes so long to defeat foes early on. But with the preponderance of vet powers even that's pretty unnecessary. Also keep in mind that once you decide to go IO slotting, your origin is pretty meaningless.
  2. I would love to see the mission computer become something other than an obstacle when I'm zooming through my base.

My SG has been around since a few months after launch. One guy designed and built the whole thing, and apart from one time clicking on 'edit' just to see what the design system looked like, I have never touched it or had any interest in changing any of it. We don't meet or gather there, and now that everyone just pops into Ouroboros to travel, the transporters get little use. And since I got my field crafter I don't even do THAT there anymore. While I would love to see any additions to the game, this is something that I think a lot of people- like 99% or so- would rarely/ never touch.
  3. I remember being please as hell that they made that stand alone dealie, I loved dinking around with new outfits in my downtime at work without having to log in. And you could save them to load up in the game, a real time saver. Have to look around if I still have the .exe burned onto a disc somewhere around here.

    NPC costumes

I'm not sure where else this question would go, so if it's better suited elsewhere my apologies.

I've noticed that the merit vendors and various NPC 'heros' of the chump category (background guys in and around AE, for example) have sort of...dull costumes. I was wondering if this was a deliberate effort on the part of the devs to avoid using better outfits that might be in use by a player? In that vein, what would happen if they were to create an NPC costume that was identical to a player? I realize the chances are slim but there are certain trends that a lot of people follow.
  5. I've tinkered with mids when it first came out but was already 50 and not a fan of respecs. I created Bill on day 1 after reading that "in beta, DM/regen has proven to be pretty much unkillable." I've been ecstatic and am very happy with him. However, running the incarnate stuff is bringing challenges I never planned for. Aside from the 'here's my build, what can I change' post, what's the best tool currently out there for planning a build? I've fully purpled one attack and have 3 more slotted in the other 2 powers that will use them. At this point I'm just looking for a nudge in the right direction on moving slots around and stuff.

I've never been a number cruncher but I defer to those who do, so once I get a build plan I'll toss it up here for evaluation.
  6. It'd be a big deal to add day jobs simply because they'd have to add a new type of location, i.e. the university, AE and the like, and that's a big deal. So unless we finally get spaceports to the moon base...

Also, the day job accolade should be called "Gym Member", since it's the same ideal as big fitness chains have: paying customers that seldom/ never use the product.
  7. I think once they patch it so that 50's on lower level TF's have a chance to get shards, you'll start seeing some of those as weekly targets. Of course then it'll just be full of 50's and not lowbies...
  8. While I don't care how it happens, I would love to make Wee Monseiur even smaller.
  9. Don't feel bad, I went through 20 or 30 recipes before I figured that one out too when I was getting my field crafter badge. It was such a long, crappy grind of running back and forth from Uni to wentworth's, click click click, buying salvage because I was impatient...Fortunately (?) my wife and I had split up that weekend, so I was in need of a distraction. Every time I see someone's summoned crafting table I give'm a little salute, since it's such a PITA to get.
  10. Bill is missing a few TF's, so GF parole permitting, I'll be up for these. I think I've attempted Posi about 4 or 5 times before the revamp, none successful due to other players quitting in frustration or going disco and never returning.

That would rock, but never goinna happen.
Way back when EQ did their graphical revamp it was a pretty big deal, but I don't see why they couldn't do something like that. The character models in DCUO are unbeliavably nice and I would love to see that level of detail in CoX.
  12. Awesome, thanks again for the info. If anything I might fall from grace just because I've seldom been to the Isles since the CoV beta and don't really love any of my red chars.
  13. Well since you all seemed pretty well versed in alignment switching, I'll ask a non-related follow up. Are there any long-term benefits of having always stayed one alignment? I'm of two minds here, torn between my RP justification of Bill not faltering in his thematic purpose, versus my desire to have him fall just to snag more badges. Have they ever emphatically stated that there will or won't be permanent ramifications?
  14. @Jophiel: by 'sapper holds' I mean their endo draining stuns.

Well I respecced after doing the third TV trial and just by moving around a couple of slots (thank you, Inherent Fitness) I am absolutely plowing through the CoT yard trash in PI once again, and I did a variety of radio and alignment missions last night. All seems in order and with the alpha slot, now I finally feel uber. Thanks for the advice!

*minorly related gripe* I wish you could just 'back down' when respeccing instead of having to start from 1 every time, I always have to take photos of my monitor to make sure I don't bork up my build and have only respecced 3 times ever, just for this reason. I'd love to reorder my last couple of powers/ slot taken, but not so much that I want to take 20 minutes to accurately rebuild things.
  15. Yesterday I did the 3rd respec trial after I got a random tell asking me to join. I didn't need it, as a 7 year vet I've got more than I can ever use. But I figured what the hey, I'll do it for the badge.

At the end when presented with the choice of a respec or reward merits, I took the merits, naturally, as I have a surplus of unused respecs. Uh...only thing is you don't get the badge for the trial unless you take the respec option. Can this be added to the text presented to the player at the end? I really don't relish the thought of doing the trial again just for the badge, plus people hardly ever run them anymore...it's been at least since 2007 since I did one.

If not, well at least pay attention before hitting 'accept reward' or end up like I did. Badgeless. Not a total loss, I did get a purple recipe I could use and 2 shards, so there's that
  16. I've only recently put CoH onto my 17" MBP and discovered that hitting the F1-F5 keys do not in fact use inspirations. Is there a way around this other than simply reassigning the keymap for that function?
  17. Figured it was a perception thing but I dunno...it's a pretty pronounced difference. No mission difficulty changes for several weeks, so that wasn't it. This wasn't just regular radio missions mind you, this was the bank robbery. Still, the radio missions I did leading up to it weren't any harder than usual. I'll try unslotting and see if that makes a difference. Thanks all!
  18. Ok, I did a search and found a lot of non-relevant results on the forum so here goes: I just unlocked my alpha slot and have it slotted with the entry level Muscle enhancement. I ran a radio mission last night and orange con Dark Mistresses were SCHOOLING me, dropping my Integration constantly, and my endurance recovery was in the toilet. Similarly, Sappers were immobilizing me 9/10 times, whereas before I easily shrugged off their holds. WTF? Does running with the alpha slotted shift all the enemies in your missions as well? Because I was clearing some CoT yard trash in PI and didn't have this problem, but did notice the extra damage working.

It was originally taken on Triumph server, but the guy was never online for me to request the name; after the whole deal of names going back into use after account deletion happened, I finally snagged it. Got to protect one's brand
  20. TOTALLY never even knew about that. Exactly what I wanted, thank you.
  21. Are there any official resources available for us to do say, a mock-up of a comic cover and use the CoH logo or something? Let's pretend I wanted to do a CoH comic featuring Bill, and have the title, and me in the little corner box, with either screenshot art as the cover or custom art, or what have you. Anything like that? The nuts and bolts stuff, typeface, fonts, that sort of thing. Not for print, mind you-- just to a forum sig or something of that nature.
  22. First image is RIDICULOUS. I can't fathom what your base upkeep is. It looks like you guys defend the Mall of America, then?
  23. You know, I was an EQ player from about a year after release and when they had the big graphical update--Shadows of Luclin, I believe--hoo boy, did that ever divide the community. Villagers with torches and what not, people feeling like their game was stolen because their creaky box couldn't keep up anymore, etc. Me, I just thought the new character models looked goofy, but I got used to it, and after a few months you totally forgot about it until you ran into an old zone that they hadn't updated the mobs in.

The point is, man do I love chocolate chunk cookies. Yuuuummy.

*edit* Board 'rookie' because I don't post often, but Week 1 veteran FWIW.
