Not sure if the OSX version have a different default key config, but try
/bind F1 "inspexec_slot 1" in the chat prompt, and repeat up to F5

System Preferences > Keyboard > Check the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys"
Normally you have to hold down the Fn key in the lower left corner of the keyboard to use the actual F-keys, but that checkbox reverses that behavior.

What CuppaManga said. I find that this not only enables F-Key insp use, it also makes it much easier to avoid accidentally adjusting your brightness or calling Dashboard in the middle of a fight.
Nothing says "you're going to die" like suddenly seeing your widgets instead of your health bar.

I've only recently put CoH onto my 17" MBP and discovered that hitting the F1-F5 keys do not in fact use inspirations. Is there a way around this other than simply reassigning the keymap for that function?
