  1. For me, brutes are easier to level on the way to SOs. That extra 150-175% damage makes fury chasing well worth it, especially when backing damage auras or attacks like spin.
  2. With SOs, this is how I'd slot WP:
    HPT: 3heal/3dam-res
    MoB: 1end-red/3dam-res
    FH: 3heal
    IW: 1end-red
    RttC: 1end-red/3heal
    QR: 3end-mod
    HS: 1end-red/3def

Your slotting is fine on claws, but I'd go 2acc/2rec-red/1end/red/1dam in followup if you're using it.
  3. Why does the quick reply button keep randomly breaking?

Yall are talking about these endurance modification bonuses?
    http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/inven...20Modification

Yup. Buff max end. Never noticed that.
  4. I've also enjoyed soloing with /pain. Self-heal and a regen aura makes life pretty easy.

Please do. I wasn't aware of any IO that increased the the total endurance on a character.

I do not believe this mentality is appropriate for City of Heroes, either, because it assumes to ignore certain game balance aspects in ways that aren't healthy for the game. In their search for faster endurance recovery, players end up boosting their recovery IN COMBAT so much that it trivialises endurance management. Endurance, as I see it designed, is intended to be something of an absolute limit of resources, forming a cap on your abilities, forcing you to pick WHICH abilities to use, rather than using them all indiscriminately. Running out of endurance mid-combat is intended to be a sign of YOUR failure, not the game cheating you out of a win. You can't run all the toggles you can take. You can't use all the powers you can get. You can't slot and use everything you can learn. That's the point.
They give us the tools to trivialize in combat endurance management with IOs and Insps.

There are three stages while solo with endurance management:

    1: 1-21 The boring suck-fest stages.
2: 22-whenever you start utilizing IOs
    3: Fully IOed

There is NO way to avoid running out of endurance mid-combat before 22 unless you either alt-tab to internet surf between spawns or get on a team with some player that has an endurance buff. Forget insps, they run out, and hell yes I use them. My insp tray on lowbies is never full.

Stating that it's my failure is idiotic and laughable, Sam. It's the way the game is designed and it's a poor design. Stamina should not be as good as it is and base recovery isn't as good as it should be.

Base VEAT recovery is closer to where base should be for everyone.

This absolute limit of resources concept is also silly even while true. I have an absolute limit of 110 endurance once I have the accolades, correct? That limit has no meaning when I'm recovering end faster than I can burn it while running 7 toggles and using a non-stop attack chain.

Which bring me right back to the first point:

That disparity between 1-21 and 50 fully IOed is insane. It makes creating new characters a hassle instead of something enjoyable.

My choice? Buff base recovery, nerf stamina. Even out the ride.

Arcanaville once stated something about the way I use shockwave...

Yes, it provides wonderful mitigation, especially against +4s where it becomes knockdown instead of knockback.

As for Nemesis, I haven't run into a mission with them at +4s. It'd be interesting, but I always work backwards against them anyway. Minions first, then LTs, then bosses. Lessens the pain considerably.
  8. On +4/x8, I once herded 7 death mage bosses. One I added the 8th, my health really started to take a nose-dive.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to herd 8 bosses while clearing out their spawns and moving to the next with a claws/sr? At least I had provoke on that last build...

    Anyway:

Council, CoT, Freaks: all a cakewalk for my claws/sr at +4/x8

Arachnos are rough. I can get through them, but not without effort.

Carnies at +0 or +1 are a cakewalk. Higher than that and they start to seriously put the pain on me.

    Vanguard? Forget about it.

SR squishy? Ummm, no. Before SOs, yes, painfully. After SOs, not so much. Once you have all three toggles and passives? Doing good. Tack on tough, weave and CJ? Approaching serious mitigation.

IOed to the gills? Near godhood.

IOed to the gills SR plus aid self? Immortal unless you're taking a nap.

My claws/sr currently sits above the softcap on defense. He has 1887 HP. He has ~18% dam-res to S/L. He doesn't die very often.

    The problem is the term.

My ma/sd scrapper is 13 now. He has an end-red in each attack. He has an end-red in battle agility.

    He runs at +0/x2 w/bosses.

After each spawn, he'll be at no more than 25% end by the end of the fight. Usually far less. Due to how slowly health/endurance rebuild, I'll easily be at the next spawn before I even have 50% end back.

This means I have to sit. And wait. And waste time. And be bored. EDIT2: This would not change if I were to drop it down to +0/x1.

It's bad enough that we have to do it for 22 levels. I truly can't understand the people that do it from 1 to 50.

Edit: In contrast, my two mains can run at +2/x8 w/bosses and never stop to rest. The only thing that stops them is death.
  10. When every response to any problem is, "I can solo that."

    ...

Side note on shortcuts: Don't try to powerlevel a lowbie using a stone/axe tank.

    /shudder
didn't even make it through a single spawn before deciding soloing scanners was faster
  12. And that right there, Sam, is all anyone has been stating all along:

Is stamina necessary? Nope. Not for ANY character, EVER.

Does that mean all of us can or will have fun without stamina? HELL no.

I still HATE the 1-22 range. Even with as quickly as it goes by these days. Characters just don't feel right without 3 slotted stamina and/or QR.

the % of people who will actually use ultra mode is so low i really cant believe they think it was a good idea.

there are people who still cant play in grandeville for crying out loud cause its too laggy.
30-45 FPS with ultra mode cranked to 11 at 1920X1200 and 4X FSAA.

    Your computer sucks.

Side note: All existing ATI issues on live are gone on test. ALL of them. They wouldn't have bothered fixing those without ultra mode coming down the pipe. Course, now there's the new issue with FSAA and Occlusion not playing nicely, but I've a sudden newly rekindled faith that even that will get dealt with.

Time, and money, well spent by the developers.

It's the stupid pets and their base 75% chance to hit. I really wish castle would fix that.

If it does, or does not happen.I can still try to find the bright end of the tunnel for EM.
I decided that I also wanted an EM tank. So I built an EM/Inv brute that I'll cross sides with. Even if I don't take ET, I'll be dishing out more damage than a tank and I'll have enough mitigation, especially on teams where buffs will be flying, to get the job done.

Sorry, Werner, they won't let me push it past +4/x8.
  18. While I gave that some thought, damn kids aren't utilizing their brains anyway, I've determined a different path will be chosen.

I'm going to utilize the secondary build option, finally, and go for a max dps, pure single target beast for AV/Pylon/PvP.

I'll post that build shortly. Edit: Or not. Can't get a build that satisfies.
  19. I just found Fury Flechette's fire/sd builds in a thread further down. As many responded positively to the builds, might want to take a look.

Got cheap, moderate and expensive builds.

    -Rachel-
I'll still be running faster and have more regen. Health also gives me a spot for all the health uniques.

What can be slotted in hasten apart of straight recharge enhs?

Don't get me wrong, I'll also take hasten when I'm going for max DPS or max mitigation from long recharge buffs, but that will be on top of fitness.

The fact is simple: Any build that lacks the fitness pool will never be as efficient at accomplishing the one thing that advances a character through the levels as the same combo with the fitness pool.

Do you guys honestly notice a difference between 43 and 45% def in actual gameplay?
Honestly? Not against groups like Council and CoT at +4/x8. Against other foes, maybe I would have. I'm sure if I had been given more time, I might have noticed it.

However, my latest build on live has Bill sitting at 47% melee defense and I feel like I'm getting hit MORE than I was when I was right at the cap...

In other words, I don't trust my perceptions.

  24. PvP recipes are pretty much out of reach for me, but I see where yall are going with the Red Fortune usage.

    Thanks much.
  25. Energize
    Energy Drain
    Stygian Circle
    Accelerated Metabolism

The list goes on and on an on and on for powers that buff recovery or reduce end cost or refill endurance.

I still take stamina on Every Single Character.

But I don't want fitness changed. Every character I make gets 3 power pool choices and an APP/PPP. Works out fine.
