    He's attempting to ignore how much of the game was designed with soloing in mind.

    However, the workaround that allows one to get enough players to start a TF/SF, dump all but one, have that one log off and "solo" a said TF/SF isn't by design. It's a side effect.

    There should be content in this game that is impossible to solo. There's precedent for such events in comicdom. There should not be, however, arbitrary gates in the way of me attempting to do it anyway.

    There is a philosophy held by the devs that they should stop players from making stupid choices.

    It's why kheldians are locked out of the flight and teleport pools. It's why there are arbitrary minimum team size requirements on trials, task forces and strike forces. It's why they dumped freeform power selection before the game went live and went with archetypes instead.

    I do not agree with that philosophy.

    Better is subjective. I also play single player games.

    MMO means that you CAN team with other humans. It does not mean that you must.

    Some people play this game for the aesthetic value. Some play for the combat system. Some soloists are quite active in the community both here on the forum and in global channels.

    Do all of you adamant teamers sit on your thumbs all day until someone else comes along to give your existence meaning?

  7. I liked my idea more. Remove shards and shard related items completely. Replace with their thread counterparts. The devs came to understand and corrected the idiocy of 3 kinds of inf from the game. They should do the same with incarnate junk.

    For one, I wasn't "laying into" the OP, I was asking what he had done on his end. Far too often people tend to point blame in directions that it shouldn't go. My own brother was recently complaining of a memory leak in the game that went away when he updated his video card driver.

    As a programmer, you should know even 4GB of RAM doesn't mean much if you're also slamming your system with ventrillo, itunes and alt-tabbing to furrypr0n.uk.gov. (NO, I am not saying anyone here is doing all of this.)

    The point of the post, and it seems the OP understood this, was to ask "have you covered your side of it?"

    I understand that this game HAS had issues in the code before, I've helped pinpoint some of them. Considering how sloppy some of the patches has been lately, I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear the they actually had introduced new memory leaks.

    This doesn't free us from being diligent with out own system maintenance.

    I'd have to recalculate it. Back then I was using 180% damage buff from fury, now I'd drop it to 150%. (I rarely see fury over 75% in normal missions these days.) Gut answer? Brute still wins but it's a closer call than back then.
  13. 40 for brute. I honestly don't know if that's affected by AT modifiers.

    If it is, then scrappers should be getting 50. Mids seems to back that up. So I guess it is affected by AT mods. Holy crap that's insane on scrappers. A crit with FE up is base*buffs*3.4
  14. I have to ask what have you done to your system so far in an effort to correct the crashes? I believe that in all the trials I've run, I crashed once.

    Drivers up to date? Defragged regulary? When was the last time your wiped your rig and rebuilt it from scratch? Verified that all components are staying cool?

    I do realize that the rejoin from crash thing was broken with today's patch but if you're crashing every trial, when others aren't, shouldn't you be looking to your own rig for a resolution?

    I've personally soloed a LOT of the content that was "designed only for teams!"

    The Lambda trial has already been duoed.

    The completely ARBITRARY minimum number of players to start a trial has absolutely nothing to do with how "epic" and encounter turns out to be.

    Being forced to wait around X amount of time for a trial to start isn't epic.
    Being forced to listen to the inane ramblings of other players isn't epic.
    Waltzing through a trial without any effort isn't epic.

    And that's soloing.
  22. NOBODY should get priority. We're given a sandbox. The roleplayers are on equal footing with every one else. We all pay a subscription fee. (For now, I guess.)

    I actively avoid people in game that don't play as I do. RPers can do the same. Don't try to entice me into your roleplaying. It won't work. I was a theatre/physics major and played D&D and Champions for many a year in my youth. If I want to roleplay, I'll find another outlet to do so.

    I see absolutely nothing wrong with kicking team member 8 when 7 of them want to roleplay and he doesn't.
