    Good.

Any word on when a proper fix is coming for TF/SFs or are we stuck with mind-numbingly dull TF/SFs where you get to kill enemies by looking at them funny indefinitely?

See above. Like others, I think this is just temporary to eliminate the "Master of" on -1, but I'm sure you'll eventually be able to crank up the difficulty.

And like KitsuneKnight said, if you really cared about a challenge, you could always use the Ouro-like difficulty settings.
    Repeating myself annoys me.

Challenge without equitable reward is stupid.

Yes, I also believe the devs will eventually put in a better solution than the one we're being given. When they do, I'll go back to running TF/SFs when the mood strikes me.

Until then, they'll be a boring waste of my time.
  3. Mine never nags me about my game time, but she won't touch the game either. I've even tried to get her to make a character for me just to get her into the character creator, but alas... no.

She's got her books and I've got my games. And her books.
  4. If the cost of allowing a -1 setting is that we won't be allowed to increase the difficulty of TF/SFs, then that cost is too high and the -1 should be removed from the game.

If you have characters that can't handle +0/x1/No/No difficulty due to build choices or whatever, that's a great time to start utilizing the dual builds feature.
  5. That last one, however, I can't disagree with enough, LX. I have stopped bullies from bullying myself through violence. I have stopped them from bullying others through violence.

Sometimes, violence is the Only language a person will understand.

You can't reason with a rabid dog. You have to put it down so that it can't harm anyone else.

Another thing, if the justice you bring is agreed upon only by you, yourself and no-one but you, you're probably just being a bully
I am in complete agreement here.
  7. You scare and sadden me, Sam. But it appears that the feeling is mutual, so I'll leave it at that.

    That said:

but I've found the people I've delt with here are a LOT more polite and open to requests if you don't treat them like garbage and demand they fall in line. Animosity only breeds more animosity, and unless you want to go to war with everyone you antagonise, it simply isn't the right way to go. Not as far as my experience has shown me.
We're in agreement here. I will deal rationally with the rational. I will allow words to accomplish whatever they can.

But words don't work against zealots. Words won't stop the insane. Words won't save the life of someone being beaten.

    Quote:
Throughout my life, I have been subject to "mob justice" more than a few times, strong-armed by people who felt they were right and I was wrong for no reason other than because they could beat me up.
I haven't been bullied since I was in 6th grade. It stopped the day I stood up to a bully and beat the crap out of him.

There are victims in the world. There are abusers in the world. There are justice bringers in the world.

I'll stick with the third choice. I find the other two choices distasteful.
  8. Sam,

A lot of people will be disagreeing with you on that post.

    I'm one of them.

If someone breaks into my house to take my belongings, they die.

If someone attempts to do harm to myself, my wife, my child, my dogs or even my evil cat, they die. Yes, my family members' lives outweigh the worth of someone else's life. My dog's life is worth more than some fool that has chosen the thief's life.

That's the extreme case of when I feel it IS my right and duty to play judge, jury and executioner.

It goes wider than that, however. I'm all for vigilante justice. Mostly due to the fact that I lost all faith in our legal system and those that uphold it ages ago.

Quite frankly, Sam, I find that our society has become the pit of uselessness that it is BECAUSE far too many people think like you do. It IS our job as members of the society to police our own. It IS our job to rid ourselves of behaviors that are detrimental to our society. It IS our job to shout down the tinfoil hat brigade and spit on the zealots that would do us harm and attempt to take from us our freedom to live as we see fit as long as we aren't interfering with the way they live.

It's when one chooses to act in a way that interferes with the rights of others that they give up the right to exist freely. As soon as that happens, someone like me will step in to show you the error of your ways.

It is my place to fix the world. At least my tiny corner of it. And for as long as there is breath in my chest, I will continue to fight against those I find wrong the moment they bring their BS into my part of the world.

When I see things like that I'm reminded of the adage about how power corrupts.
Yup, that's me. Mad with the power to sway others to mock and belittle those I find useless.

And for the record, I would Not have physically attacked the woman in Eisregen's story. I was raised better than that.

I would have sent her away in tears and shame belittling her with words alone.

  11. I am of the opinion, especially in light of how the DPS tweak equation unfairly affects brutes more than scrapeprs, that the DPS equation should be tossed out.

Unfortunately, I have yet to come up with a solid enough argument to get that changed.

Awww man I love reading the comments to kinda funny some of them, but what really bothers me is the grey rep with no comment. Now what am I supposed to think of that, was the person neutral?
Looking at the FAQ for the rep system, grey means that the system doesn't view the person leaving the rep as capable of altering rep for whatever reason. I assume due to that person's rep being too low.

It's too bad that many don't bother remembering that this is generally the normal M.O. for our dev team.

I was concerned that Synapse had turned a blind eye to the issue. I brought my concerns up and was quickly corrected. The next day he posts to the forum that the cause had been found and soon would be corrected.

I was, and am, thankful for that.
  17. Don't ya love it when someone attempts to neg-rep you but can't because their rep is too low for the system to consider them worthwhile?

    I sure do.

Hopefully. Which is why I responded to him with the respect he deserves.

On the other hand, nerdraging about this issue is also silly.

If you do TF/SF's for merits, you still can. Will it be boring? Yes. But it won't last long.

If you want purple conning enemies until the devs fix this properly, run non-TF/SF content at +4/x8 diff solo.

For me? If I have to run the villain side SFs for power buffing accolades for my main brute rebuild, I'll do them. The single necessary time.

Beyond that, I will not be doing ANY TF/SFs until we are able to push our difficulties up again.
  19. Before I-16, I liked running TF/SFs at 5th diff. It was fun. It wasn't a cakewalk. The rewards were good.

Acemace, you're very wrong in your opinion. Is it unreasonable for me to ask for a salary that is in line with the job I'm doing? Is it unreasonable to accept that to lose 10 pounds I need to eat less and exercise more?

No, neither of those stances are unreasonable. It's also not unreasonable at all to expect X reward for accomplishing Y task in a game when that standard has already been set within the game.

I disagree with this change. I find it a sloppy workaround for a problem that should have been dealt with in a more logical way before the new difficulty settings went live.

Standard difficulty TF/SFs are boring. Expecting someone to increase their difficulty without comparable rewards is idiotic. At least when we do it in Ouroboros we're doing it for a badge.

Quite frankly, your "correction" of the post comes across as trollish and nothing more.

And I say this as someone who generally enjoys your posts.
  20. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so pathetic and sad.

Does it now use the melee damage modifier instead of the range damage modifier?
It appears to still be using the scrapper ranged damage modifier.
  22. Moot point. Got verification that suppression can't be changed to where it also suppresses endurance.

Does anyone really want to pay for non-functioning dam-res shields * 3, inky aspect and orbiting death while blasting in nova form?

The questions is.... could we talk the devs into allowing specific powers to remain functional while in the forms?

I'd dig dwarf form if I could have IA and OD running.
  23. Thank you. The bad part of my brain started working.
