Precisely why I said 'consider' since builds are sorta like intellectual property (or exactly like intellectual property). Well, I know some folks are very protective of them at any rate.

Thanks to all for the advice!
  2. Um, not to be a naysayer or anything, but these god-like SS/FA Brute builds y'all have... Would any of you consider posting one just so I know what I'm in for?

I have 50% s/l/e/n defense with one target in range, 5% over the soft cap, but of course that goes up with more enemies present. That plus 90% s/l resistance and around 30% e/n resistance makes him really durable.

Brutes get the same 50% DDR as Tankers, according to City of Data, so it should be possible to make a pretty hardy Inv Brute for the ITF.
Sailboat, I would love to see that build, or a permutation of it...

Thanks for the suggestions... Well, I have the following to play with:

    Tank Fire/Elec
    Brute Dark/Shield
    Brute SS/Inv
    Brute Dark/FA

I could make a SS/FA Brute like many of you obviously have done. But, ALL of you have one. If I had all the inf in the world to trick it out, then I would. But, I am going to get it to 50, get it slotted, get it through a dozen or so trials for the incarnate stuff, and then I am going to run a duo ITF. Those solo builds look INSANELY expensive and I will have, at most, 500 million to outfit it. So, no PvP, no purples, and hell things like Oblits and Reactive Armor and Kinetic Combats will probably get rationed a bit (plus LotGs and other stuff).

I did say THE perfect Brute... Most of you suggest that to be a SS/FA one, and had I the 6-8 billion I think it would require (or the merits), I'd go there.

My fire/Elec tank does the ITF well, and he's got capped fire res, a hair under 70% S/L res, but like 40% energy and 45% negative energy res and then he is one small purple insp from the softcap. I've also not finished tricking HIM out... another 5 billion and he'll be just where I want him.

Thanks again... This is definitely food for thought.
  4. Well, we were kinda just moving along and killing as we went. I got a fair few shards.

Fiery Aura? Really? Other than fire res capped, what else does it do? I have a Firey Aura/ Electric Melee tank, and he is decent at trials and TFs, but I certainly wouldn't ask him to pull Nightstar, you know?
  5. Ladies and Gentlemen, I pose a question:

What is THE "best" Brute for an Imperious Task Force?

I ask because a few days ago a buddy of mine and I did a duo ITF on Virtue (see the server thread for the neato screen cap), and we were thinking about doing another, this time on Freedom.

He had a Martial Arts/Willpower Scrapper and I had an Electric Melee/Shield Defense Scrapper. I had incarnate powers but he did not.

In order to do it, we had to kill the Nictii one at a time and then attack Rommie. We did the rest of the Traitors last.

Anyway, we had to eat orange and red insps to cap resists (the Mire on those Nictii is auto-hit so my 'great defense' was for nothing), and that got me to thinking after the fact...

What other duo combo could achieve the same, or better results. He's going with another scrapper, and again Willpower, but this time Dark Melee.

I want to make a Brute that will have high resist against S/L and E/NE plus the damage output necessary to compensate for the slightly lower damage output from the dark versus the martial arts.

I was thinking SuperStrength/Invulnerability, but I am not sure.

What do the mighty Brutes here think?
  6. Howdy all!

So, @TrueBeorn with his trusty lvl 50 (+1) Electric Melee/Shield Defense scrapper Ajeke Veccera (with incarnate powers like Ion and reactive and the like) joined up with @PUMMEL and his lvl 50 Martial Arts/Willpower scrapper PAINFUL KILLER (who HAS NO incarnate powers) decided, on a whim...

Hey, let's try to do a duo ITF.

It is our favorite ITF. We have 50s on Freedom and some other places too, but Virtue is our home, so we thought we'd try it here.

We (tried not to spam) chatted the Virtue TF 2010 channel for ideas on the Nictii, since we (correctly) surmised they would be our big challenge.

We used insps, temp powers, incarnate powers (well, I did), and we DID in fact die, even though the screenshot says no defeats (although each of us had died only once prior to the final map, we died about 5-6 times each handling the nictii).

I know it isn't a "speed" TF. I know we did not "power through" it, but until the last map we were going as fast as any 'speed shard' team with a full compliment of 8 would go.

Anyway, I was glad to accompany PAINFUL KILLER. I'd do it again any time!

And thanks again to the great community on Virtue! I asked a lot of questions on the TF channel, people all over were more than happy to act as fillers so we could get the TF started in the first place. And, the advice, the help, and the good-natured ribbing (from @hotclaypot especially) about it would be easier with more people were great and fun.

Thanks everyone. THIS is why this is my favorite game!

On a side note, anyone have any tips for dealing with this? It is my biggest aggravation when playing my WS.
This... THIS is the only complaint I have about the Kheldians. So much so in fact my 50 PB I just made a second build that is human only and I play it exclusively now. For my WS 50 though, tri-form is a must... Still, the animation times are a bit... looonnnngggg.
  9. When is this going live? Cuz I just tried to make a dark/dark blaster and the option was not there.
  10. Financial real life stuff. But thank you all for the great times! I will be back!

You guys were awesome. Soon I hope to get ALL my guys to 50!

Thoughts? I have had tanks since the beginning of time, but this is my first fire tank (though, I do have elec melee on a scrapper, never had fire armor before at all)
  15. Extremely well done! Kudos to you!
  16. I am SOOOO looking forward to making a Union character! I'll probably just re-roll one of my Virtue toons and start anew. Just think of the mistakes I WON'T make this time! I can room for all NEW mistakes!!!
  17. Thank you very much Eldorado! I will read those ASAP!
  18. Black Widow Hexie and Ajeke Veccera had a BLAST. Though, honestly, I think the widow is more PvP-ish.
  19. Black Widow Hexie shall be there to face the "heroes" of Paragon City.
  20. BeornAgain

    Roll a D6

Sponsored by Coke! And, now to TRULY geek out. If she's a wizard, why does she have a bow and arrows? Elven maybe?
  21. I went back several pages about a build idea for this AT set and other than an old guide (i.e.- prior to inherent fitness), I got nothing.

I've been a melee AT person, for the most part. My main hero is a tank, my main villain is a widow, and then I have an elec/shield scrapper and a SS/SR Brute and an all melee Bane.

BUT, each of these handles soft-capping differently, and I would really like my gentleman of leisure, Viscount du Lac, NOT spend too much time faceplanting. He's relatively hardy now, with just SOs at lvl 38, but I would like to see people's ideas on how to do this as efficiently as possible.

I reckon a few caveats... I want to take all the primary powers, except the taunt, and I don't have anything AGAINST the tier 9 willpower ability, but I haven't taken it, yet... Also, I am not married to any of the pool powers, but I would like a travel power that is not TP or fly.

So, I assume combat jumping, maneuvers, and weave will be essential in the build, no?
