Primal Earth candidates would certainly include Lady Gray, Ms. Liberty (highly unlikely though), possibly even Sis Psyche. Possibly even GW or Kalinda (Though how a ghost has email is beyond me...)

Yeah, there's a bunch of the remaining possibilities that I want..

1) Nin, EM, Mace/Axe, & Stone for Scrappers (I'd love SS, but that may be too much work atm)
2) SR for tanks ... or REGEN!
3) ICE for Stalkers!
4) Sonic for MMs
5) Thermal & Fire for Defenders
6-10) DARK SETS FOR DOMINATORS FOR THE LOVE OF ANY DEITY LISTENING!!!!

Prometheus I bet- he did feel rather "shoved in at the last moment". I know he's there for plotline advancement.. but it does give off a very.. unfinished feel.

I just unlocked Interface, and was halfway towards Judgment and Destiny... if I lose that progress there WILL be death!!!

It would simplify it yes, but unlike a fantasy MMO with its generic "+5 sword of smiting" or whatever, a Comic MMO relies a lot more on Flair.

Its much more fun for a person to go "ooh, got a Self-Replicating Alloy" then it is to say.. "cool, a purple component." It's all about a 'comic' state of mind. It helps some people get in groove with the game. It's the same reason we have totally different names for SOs, and 4-5 different sets of IOs for each type.

Specifically because of the reward table. If there were no components, just threads, then everyone would still be grinding to get T3s and T4s. I'm at work, so my math may be off, but a Very Rare component takes 1060 threads to craft (adding up att the sub component thread costs). Even if say the Trial awarded you 50 threads at a success, it would still take you more then 15 good runs to get what you need. (thats assuming 3-4 Astral Merits per run as well) That's also assuming you have everything ELSE crafted beforehand. (actually, to craft a T4 from the start you would need I think 1720 threads)

Thats grindy in a bad way even to players who don't mind grinding. With the Components, the reward table give's you a "shortcut" to get your shinies faster, simple as that. It's also no more complicated then the IO system, just 1 more "salvage" layer added to it.

I would LOVE if someone democorded that!

I think the problem is the "leechers reward" is showing up twice in the reward caculations. If you doorsit, you get 10 threads period. However, the 10 thread option is also included in the list of tables that the RNG picks from after you met the "participation threshold". Thats likely how that poor Huntsman got the booby prize I bet.

IF that's the way it works, then it's a bit borked- the "doorsit" reward shouldn't be in the list of rewards for actively playing.

This is my feeling as well. Tuesday night my connection was horrid. (Very Old wiring in building + heavy storm= drops every 10 minutes) I ran 6 Trials that night, and DC'ed 1-2 times in EACH. Guess what.. I got the 10 thread "ty for playing" prize EVERY time.

Last night I jumped into 3 Trials. The first 2 I "intentionally" leeched and did nothing- I got 10 threads each time. The 3rd Trial? I activated my Judgment nuke 1 time each phase. I got an Uncommon.

There is no way this system is totally random.

While I agree that your argument is solid at level 45+, it falls apart for the rest of the game. The awesome Barrier buffs mean Jack **** when you get exemplared down to do a Posi or a Mantis. Ageless doesn't matter when you are helping a buddy unlock their Midnighter's Clb access. At that point, I'll Gladly take an Emp or a Rad with AM because the Destiny buffs do not exist at ethat level. Sure a 50 could quit the team, buff all and rejoin, but that's a bit silly.

And there's one big component of Proliferation you are forgetting- Character Concept. I want Ice powers for Brutes not to make everyone even, but because I want to play a rampaging Yeti. Same with Thermal for Defenders. And I won't quit this game till I see Dark/Dark Dominators! Why? Because I love coming up with new concepts and enjoy the game that way. In fact, that was the biggest hurdle I had to get over in order to enjoy the Incarnate abilities- how does this fit into my concept? Some powers don't, so they are off the table, no matter HOW good they are.

Case in point- my hero main, Bench, is a Inv/ss Tank whose background is a 'normal' human with extraodinary strength and stamina who became a hero. For all of beta and even live.. I considered skipping Judgment because I simply couldn't make it work. Why would a normal strong guy suddenly be able to shoot fire or electricity? I only went Void when I came up with the idea that the power is an extension of his Rage power amped up. (recoloring it red helped) I had to come up with a similar concept for Rebirth before I could do that. Proliferation to me is just more opportunity to tell a new comic story, one I haven't though of yet.

Beefcake, are you reading my build? lol This was EXACTLY my thinking. I went Diamagnetic when I team tank for the extra boost to my Invincibility (thinking swap in a Reactive when I solo) and I am working very hard to get to the Tier 3 Right-path Rebirth (Tier 2 right now) for my regen. RA's? Pfft, who needs ya?
