  1. A 9800 is a very old card.. in fact I have one. The card plays every game I have very well.. including all new games. However, there is one game and only one, that can wreck this card. Its called City of Hero's. Currently for this halloween event I have dropped all the settings to min (on 22inch widescreen so the res is 1680 or whatever). I must say that even at min graphics settings the game still drops to 21 frames/sec which is so strange.

You can use ultramode settings in AE and on teams of 8 in regular missions and normally event free times but honestly in the open maps and for huge events like this.. my framerates are getting murdered and the lag is aweful as well and I have fios. When you attack banners or have a zombie invasion or Rikti invasion.. look out!

So there you have it.. anything less than this card would not be worth your time if you are looking to get better graphics.

Really you should hookup a new i7 and the latestest nvida card you can find if you want to see everything as nice as it can be in ultramode. Other than that you will suffer like me.

That is my point.. I handed out a ball park 5min just to watch some one beat it. Its so stupid. When I added my new time it ends up with someone sayin somethin like you all said. Seriously.. who cares about how fast you can do a mission... your build is not better than mine just because you can do something faster. People say well the faster you kill the faster you make money.. blah blah.. who cares. Maybe you save yourself 3 mins to get to 9999 tickets faster than me. Your already playing the game.. is an extra 3min gonna be that much worth the insanity of rage crash?

Oh and Firery Enforcer um I love your workaround for SS/fire.. you know the one where you don't even use rage. LOL! Nice one I think that about says it all.. if you want to do dmg don't bother doing ss/fire go with elec which almost certainly out dmg's an ss/fire who does not even use rage.. its not better and its not faster and certainly so if you don't need to use rage. The secret here is to use red insps so use whatever build you like.

    Isolate Farming?

So far Stormy your post about AE and not making money or exp is the funniest of all!

    Nice post..

I just ran a farm at 54/8 and capped out 1500 tiks in 2:30. Looks like your 10 seconds of downtime costs you more than you think.

As far as not seeing ss/fire toons running farms then you are not looking hard enough. Middle of the night right now and I just saw 3 of them and nothing else in the AE building in Cap.

Sorry to break the news to you, but your friend does not know how to farm. That does not mean there is an issue with the powerset, there is an issue with your friend. Also footstomp does not send the mobs flying away. If that was hapening then it is even a greater indication of your friends inability to farm because he was probably using handclap or acutally slotted KB into FS.

More aoe powers still does not mean it does better damage. 10 seconds of down time every couple min is really not that bad to deal with. Also rage increases the damag on all attacks, not just Footstomp. Patron powers, burn and blazing aura all do more damage because of Rage.

With AE any brute can get the fury bar to the 80s and have it stay there so that point is moot. Any good farmer will also keep as many mobs around them as possible, also moot. There is no fear in burn anymore and FS only does KD not KB so the elec fence comment is also moot. The only thing SS has to work around is rage. And that is easy. I take that time to clean up my insp tray, combine to make reds and such. Just keep an eye on your buffs and monitor your damage bonus and you will be prepared. It is far less difficult than you are making it out to be.

Ok ya you cap in 3 - 2.5min. Wow! that is so much faster than my ballpark 5min for elec/fire. I am building a SS/Fire brute now!

What AE arc is that please?

AHah I mentioned that 5min stat just so I could see who would be the first to lower that with their ss/fire is faster so ya it's better post.

And you really dont need any more AoE than just that one attack, with FS, burn, fences, and ball. I literally ALWAYS have AoE up.

Edit: also, everything fiery-enforcer just said

Yes some of the other builds here use that(elecFences) for some odd reason.

Are you saying that you don't have rage crash?

I think we can agree on the fact that we both like fire as the secondary however, I am not convinced that SS is the best primary to use with it for AOE becasue out of the box you are already relying on burn and then have to add an epic pool to enhance your lack of AOE. You don't need that with elec which makes it a better AOE dmg set as it has 3 usable AOE powers by default. And unless you are immune to rage crash then ya you have more to work around and you need to add more to your SS/fire to make it a viable AOE farmer and that is not the case with elec.

I don't use Elec Fences to keep mobs around me, that's what Blazing Aura is for. Also, what's there to work around to play a SS/Fire? Just get perma Rage which is very easy to do.

All I said was rage crash is lame.. and it is. If you wanna talk farming, well then with elec/fire you have no rage crash and a much easier time killing and is probably better overall for farming. I can't speak for other builds of elec/fire you have seen but I farm 54/53's and cap tickets in 5 min. I have honestly never seen one single SS/Fire build running a farm in AE on freedom. I did run with one friend tho and it was so horrible to watch him wait that 6 seconds before he could FS again.. and then wait.. and wait again.. one boring power that sends the mob flying away oh ya and then oh no.. rage crash.

For best AOE dmg I would say electric is better than SS in that is has more AOE powers to offer and is not just based around 1 power that is dependent on another (rage) to be effective and again rage is nothing but a pain to deal with.

So (elec/fire) easier build to deal with, same or better dmg results and much more interesting to play all around.

Oh and I should also mention that with elec/fire you can get the fury bar to 85 and it will stay there. I keep the mob tightly packed around me to maximize Burn,LR,TS,CS. I don't need to hold the mob down with electric fence to keep them close by. SS/Fire has to many things that you have to work around to make it useful to farm with while elec/fire is much easier and much more effcient right out of the box for farming.

Elec/fire is the best for aoe.. SS/Fire = rage crash which is lame.
  9. For checking out your set bonus's its ctrl+b or just look under "window" on the menu bar, its the first option and anything that is capped will show in red as <cap>.

I would not respec anything until i19 drops anyway. Its better to see whats in it before you go changing things around. There is plenty of time to to hum and haw over your build and see how things are really checking out. Mostly you can settle your build out and then just add some one slot powers as extra's.

How do i see where i am over a cap ?

Also i thought about starting all over again and try building him as if he had perma Unstoppable on . ..
Or would that be a bad idea ?
  10. You have used your impervium armor more than 5 times. I would slot something else in Resist energies becasue you are not getting 2 of the bonusus from that set. If you use Ageis there you can get a fire/cold def boost. You are still over the cap for the end/sec bonus but whatever.. I think you are looking to keep the psy bonus.

Take a look at this. I removed the set bonus and it gets you closer to soft capping 2 more defensive spots fire/cold.

I have taunt in here but really you have so much AOE with this mostly cheap build that you may find you don't really need it. Whatever you like.. the oblits are a bit spendy but you must have them! Your defence is average so I hope you can rely on your team to help you out for that. Its easy to soft cap your S/L def down the road if you like to help you take a real beating but as it is you will need your teams help to keep you alive in harder fights.

Anyway you can improve on this build mightly if you want to but you would have to spend to get it. This build will work even for I19 and you can then pick some other power pools but be aware that you could only one slot them.

  13. I can post something later but you need FireyEmbrace hasten and you will need Buildup or you will be way to weak to kill anything. 6 slot burn and also think about not taking jacobs ladder.. take buildup for sure. I don't think you should use self aid either as you have healing flames which will more than do the job.

However my son has the bug, and the wife and I decided that this might be a good game to try him out on. He's rolling plant/plant dom, and she's rolling fire/kin corrupter. I'll be rolling fire/elec tank, and I'm just having a hard time getting a build pulled together for myself so I'm looking for comments.

    Thanks in advance.

  14. I dunno I think it may be hard with out any defence. I would at least use oblits on Fiery Aura inplace if the frankin slotting there to get more recharge and accuracy. You are also at the cap for your end bonus on your impervium armor so might think something else could help you out better there. Also the faster you can get Firey Embrace up the better. I would toss RotP.. and maybe try darkest night as for you it might help you not get hit so much.
  15. I made some changes here.. don't think you should slot consume for dmg even if its to get a def bonus. This build you have seems to be end heavy because of the lack of end reduction overall. Anyway

    elec/??/mu help

Fire.. Fire holds taunt so that you can then use fieryembrace and then burn them. You fury does not Get too 100% ever as the other guy said.. it gets to 85% and holds. Then you can buildup,Lighting rod and by the time you have done that you can fire off Burn again before Fireyembrace runs out. That combo works really well on the mobs that self Rez.

You can do S/L mobs and +3/8 or +4/8 and any fire mobs can be +4/8 but normally I like 3+/8 because I get to ticket cap fast enough with that.
  17. Blah blah.. you and SS.. you troll.

    Taunt?

I did not take any epics.. I used most of the AOE attacks in elec to help slot for S/L Defence. Consume is a great power when used correctly and Firey Embrace really helps pump the dmg high. I don't really use taunt that much even tho I have it as the Firey Aura holds agro well enough for me. Just slot for Melee and S/L defence and recharge as much as you can.

  20. I took out boxing and built up your health and endurance and got you closer to the def cap for s/l

  21. Well.ere. I would not use 3 slots in combat jumping.. just out a lotg7.5 in there you could also have better end production.

Use the builds in here for reference

  22. Slight oversight yes. However, you can add another one easy enough without destroying anything.

  23. This one improves Candlestick's by offering improved regen rate and improved stamina and gives more set bonuses all while keeping the +recharge and losing just a hair of dmg on 2 powers. If you wanted you could swap out the one of the mako's and go with the +recharge from the knockback set.

Your real defence is your ability to heal quickly and this will help that out much more as it will now take about 35 seconds to regen to full health at 62.5 hp/sec.

  24. I like it better now that the ranking feel is gone. I mean SS/Fire might be the meal ticket for the moment but that could change sooner than later as we all know so more reason to try something else.
