Looking at All Hell's post, it makes me think, knock off 32.5 for the 3.75s and 2.5s as they wouldn't be worth the slot investment, but that leaves you 179.5... You need defense debuffs and holds to pull that off, and having radiation emission would be useful... This is a quick trial, but with Dark Blast/Rad corrupter you can put together an expensive but playable 265% recharge toon...
Alright, might not have enough attack power, but the debuffs look good...

Be careful about claws, swords and MA as Sm/Le resistances tend to be high...
Dark melee may be the best, also you have to remember that with DM you get free health every 10s through siphon life and a decreased chance of being hit, so it is the safest as well as possibly the hardest hitting in real terms... -
I suggested a -regen attached to AS or just crits and was shot down. It seems that the -regen proc would cover one of the biggest holes in an underpowered AT...
-
You could clear a set of five tip missions in about 20-25m on a lvl 35 stalker. I use burst on con-gray minion groups to get tip drops, usually takes one to two minutes. Then do the missions, hitting any large groups on the way. At level fifty it sometimes takes up to 35m to clear 5 tips, but that's if drops are stubborn.
The nice thing is that you can choose which level you want for rolls (1 alignment merit = 5 orange recipes at chosen level) or you can go up to lvl 50 and choose specific recipes. LotG: +recharge seems to be the most cost effective recipe at the moment, giving you 220m every four days on Virtue. It is actually a better buy than most purples or PVP IOs. I tend to average around 100m for level 50 reward rolls. -
There are always widows, I soloed Snaptooth at level 6 with my widow...

I do not think that KM is low on ST damage. In fact I have heard many claim that it may be the best ST damage set for stalkers, and second best for other melee toons.
The problem it seems is that while Stalkers can take down everything up to EBs faster than any other AT, they lack the survivability and sustained damage output for AVs. There are some AVs out there that I can take, but it is so much easier with a scrapper, and that shouldn't be the case.
Since we sacrifice survivability and AoEs for Burst damage, shouldn't we at least be able to have equal sustained damage output to scrappers and brutes? -
I found that with Trapdoor I could overpower his regen until he pulled the third bif, then I didn't have enough. When I figured that out it was easy, keep hitting him until the third bif, then run around and quickly kill all three before heading back to take him down... (the mission briefing stated that his bifs help him heal...)
With Kin I can take down anything up to an Elite Boss faster than on any other toon I have, but getting to AVs I find that I lack the sustained damage capability and survivability that is needed to take them out... -
Why do people not choose Teleport?
Higher end cost than other travel powers?
Disorienting and hard to get used to?
Slow due to long, loud and irritating animation?
Long loud and irritating animation?
No defensive power linked to it?
No stealth (like Superspeed)
AotA?
If they decreased the animation time to 1s (for all TP powers including woolworth's etc...) decreased the endurance cost by half, added a short PBAoE placate and toned down the animation it would be a great power... if... -
I was just wondering if it was possible to make an AV killer build for a kinetic melee stalker with ninjitsu for defense. Currently I am playing one at level fifty, and unlike my other fifties I can't seem to take down those pesky AVs. Any suggestions or builds that you have found useful would be of great help.
-
TP needs an increase in animation speed... by that I mean it should be reduced to under a second. The speed of recall friend, TP foe and the various other TP powers could be reduced to 2s.
-
Having the trip mines lay out a mine field would be great, but they would set eachother off and most of the damage would be wasted... But it would be a hell of a lot faster than the way they work now. Time bomb seems to pair well with Siren's call, but utterly useless otherwise... how would you fix that?
-
question, I have been using the rule of thumb that 1def=2res=20 regen or HP, is that about right, and if not, what is the correct rule of thumb for regen?
-
I am currently deciding whether to go for a full purple set or to go for Four Mako's and then two Hecatomb... The important thing to remember is that damage is the primary focus of AS, you don't need to worry so much about recharge or endurance because it is a one and done, for the most part...
(The reason I go for Mako's over Crushing is the damage boost from four. You can easily stack up 35-50% damage bonus from IOs without sacrificing much. However, going with Hecatomb over Mako's pumps up the AS at the expense of 2.5% universal damage buff...) -
I tend to favor ST sets... And as some have mentioned before, Illusion Control actually has no AoE damage attacks. The pets work for crowd control, and damage multiple targets, but almost all their attacks are ST. (Phantasm has a single cone attack that is pretty narrow...) Which means that they have the benefits of AoE and ST without changing up. Stalker KM only has one AoE and it is the fastest toon I have for taking down bosses and EBs. Haven't tried any AVs yet, but I fear he may be slower at that than my scrappers...
If you want to feel super, two-shotting a +1 Fake Nemesis is a good start...
So, actually I am reading this thread and coming up with the opposite question. Why focus on AoE? AoE-centric toons are a dime a dozen, but when the team needs a specific boss or other trouble-maker taken out before the battle even starts, nothing is better than a stalker... -
btw, /EA is a great way to make a stalker-style Brute...
-
As far as ATs, Stalkers are the most underwhelming, or a blaster without a fistful of wakies... But I have to argue against Grav Control. It is actually not a bad control set, just different, I actually really like it...
Also, Psi blast has a great level 2 attack that makes it one of the easiest to run in the early levels.
I would have to go for Kheldians just after any update, as they seem to always get bugged as the worst AT, and Dual Pistols as the worst set... -
Quote:I seem to recall in initial testing that Burst started out with a radius of 10' and got smaller for no good reason. It is one of the smallest radii in the game, and I don't see the reasoning behind it. But that is neither here nor there. For Stalkers it is a good situational tool, and a double crit (Hide crit + random crit activating on the same attack, which happened only once for me, fortunately it was not wasted) on Burst can kill Lts, however rare that might be... Also, I don't recommend caltrops for kin/nin...My Kin/Dark just hit 50 last night.
Kin is good on Stalker. It's a bit on the "slow" side but the damage debuff is quite unique and I think it synergizes well with a defense set so that you don't get one-shotted to death.
I tested Kin on Pylon two weeks ago and if I cycle 3 attacks, pylon's damage on my /Dark is only about half but if I don't use Kin attacks, I only have about 1/3 of health left. The damage debuff is quite noticeable. (this is before I got Tough in my build)
I just respec my /Dark Armor and took Tough and man, between my damage debuffs and resistance, the elite boss in Alpha story arc was just scratching me. It felt good! Good to have elites scratching my itchy back!
I was afraid they gonna nerf Burst in i19 but they didn't. hehe
The only thing I think you may need to watch out for is Caltrops because when I play Kin Stalker, I want the mobs surround me as close as they can (since Burst's radius is kinda small) and caltrops may spread them out too much. -
For Primaries, you will be looking at Fire for Blaze, Ice for Bitter Ice Blast, Psychic for TK blast and Sonic for Siren's Call...
For Secondaries you will be looking at Elec for Charged Brawl>Havoc Punch>Shocking Grasp or Energy for Energy Punch>Bone Smasher + Power Boost.
For the best out of the gate two huge slugs from level 4 you will want PB/Elec or PB/NRG. For the best chain you will want to look at Fire/Elec with Flare>Charged Brawl>Havoc Punch>Shocking Grasp.
For the best isolation you will want to look at Sonic/NRG for the Power Boost>Siren's Call>solo one or two targets>grab a coffee>grab a donut>wash your hands>Power Boost>Siren's Call.
For an interesting mix you might want to look at Elec/MM for Short Circuit>Drain Psyche to remove the threat from the group and increase your regen and recov to levels that regen scrappers can't even achieve allowing you to safely take out targets with a decent set of ST attacks... -
I just made it to fifty on my Kin/Nin, and it has beens a great trip! BU has had its activation time reduced so that it is in line with other sets, but still has the fastest AS out there. Add to that the ability to one-hit kill minions with FB and you can take out groups at will without even using your bag of tricks.
One thing to keep in mind is that Kin is very ST oriented, but Blinding powder, Caltrops and Smoke Flash allow you to control aggro more than most secondaries. So you have a nice balance between the two. You have to have a plan, but if you didn't want to plan you'd play a scrapper.
The easy capping of defenses allows for a sense of invulnerability and the ability to wait to go into hide if you so choose... I was up fighting level 50+ rikti monkeys last night, waiting to go into hide, then burst, let them swarm some more and then wait until your hidden to hit burst again. I literally had twenty monkeys unable to keep me from entering hide while standing still.
I'm trying to decide on which path to take for the alpha slot (probably going musculature), but right now here is my build:

Quote:It would be interesting for grav trollers, but would also bring up the possibilities of a new form of timespace melee stalker that would pull enemies out of phase in order to isolate and eliminate them...I would love it if they did #2. Would be a very cool update.
But that is a lot of code... -
This is primarily a problem when you hit AS while they are unphased and then they phase as you hit them.
Fake Nems do not have phasing, they have personal field generator, so you generally don't hit them, although if you do they take nil for damage...
They need to rework the coding for phasing.
1) Phased critters should not be strikable
2) Phased toons should be able to hit phased critters
3) Phasing needs to be the tier 3 not the tier 4 pool power. -
Assassin's Strike only reveals you when you hit. You cannot hit an intangible foe, however, if you AS an intangible foe you will be revealed and do no damage and have no fear effect...
Am I the only one that thinks this is not working as intended? -
With Silent Blade she hits her Kuji-in Retsu, which gives her high defenses a bonus of 45% for two minutes... Just wait her out, unfortunately she doesn't crash like she is supposed to, but that's the dev's way of saying, we know it is a bad mechanic and will fix it for toons, but not players. Maelstrom has Phase shift which lasts 30s. Unfortunately I do not believe that you can phase shift to attack him...

On my laptop I have an older version of Mids, v1.8, which had problems with epic pool values, but had the combat defense listed. It is very nice, which is why I have yet to update to v1.81...
You might want to write into the Mids forums about that. It is so nice not to have to do the math in your head, which is kind of why people use Mids in the first place...
Also, most personal stealth powers suppress halfway when revealed, while most AoE stealth powers do not...
