  1. Dechs,

Last I checked, they do not self-cap.

Although there is the possibility that they will 'fix' that in the future.

I have that slotted into Innocuous Strikes. I already had one of those drop out of the Super Packs, so that is not a problem. I also have a Gladiator's Armor def proc, and Shield Wall proc. The problem will be getting the Fury -res debuff, to put in Death Shroud. Although running a lot of tip missions and the SSA should get that in less than a month... I'm looking at a cost estimate of around 2.5b plus those three procs through hero merits.

The question is, should I spend money on buying Erads through the Paragon Market (which will mean that they will effectively become lvl 50 when I get there) or is there a significant difference. I will likely buy them if they are on sale for half price...

Edit: Apologies, the numbers listed prior incorporated the ATO proc. Please subtract 6.7% from each for the non-proc numbers.
  3. I think I have my build builtish, as far as I can without it being on mids.

    That being said, I think my defenses are about S/L 44.8, E/N 45.4, Psi 27.9, F/C 40.4...
That being said, I think my resists are about S/L 79.6, En 40.1, Neg 71.5, Fire 61.3, Cold 66.3, Tox 41.1, Psi 85.7...

Would these numbers be workable, and should I aim higher? Ifso, where?

Again, I would like to get these numbers primed prior to going all out on the incarnate junk...

Edit: Sorry, had the Fury of the Gladiator proc causing trouble with my resist numbers. That being said, I juggled my defense around a tad. It didn't change the def numbers much, but did give me an extra 5% to Cold resistance... My kb protection is at 7.
  4. I have been playing around, and am looking at going more towards the typed damage, using oblits in Spring attack and Sky Splitter only. Figuring out other ways to pull up my recharge.

I am currently trying to get the recharge on Sky Splitter to 6.336 without Hasten or Alpha slotting. That would basically be all the recharge I need. (approximately 50% Global recharge). The next step will be working on S/L def.

Looking at the build I have some work to do
  5. Dechs, I was referring to 'using the right form from staff can heavily mitigate that issue' when I made my statement.

After watching your DA vid I have had a haunting desire to work it into a build. Unfortunately I haven't made a toon with it as an option (except for a stalker, and I really wanted to try ninjutsu) since watching your vid. So, now that I am going to finally make my tank, I think this is the primary to take. That being said, do you think my suggested attack chain is legit?

Also, would you recommend filling the AoEs with Oblits (to cap melee defense and increase recharge) or Erad (for the energy defense and max endurance) plus two or three others (possibly Fury of the Gladiator, which, although expensive, can give KB protection). If I go with Erad frankenslotting, where would I make up the recharge?
  6. So, you are saying that you would run DA/Sta w/ the endurance form, possible chain GS>SR>IS>SS?
  7. I've never gotten around to making a tank, but thought I should try, and staff looks like it will be a good option. So, I will be making a tank, am looking more towards resists, and was wondering which primary you like/recommend for using with staff? And, of course, why?
  8. Also, a side-note, if you purchase from Paragon Market, the sets will become level 50 sets. Yes, it costs money, but on the other hand, some of the great sets (Such as Basilisk's for trollers or KC foe melee toons) are now a great deal more viable...
  9. Alright, here is my entry and it has everything you want. It has solid defense, 45+ in range and melee, and close to that in AoE and extra defense from Vorpal. It has all your permas (provided you use Ageless Core epiphany) (I would also suggest buying your Call to Arms from the Paragon Market as it will give you a little more recharge). It has all the procs you asked for, and KB 12 protection. It is an all around build with the powers you want and slotting so that they are all effective. Good endurance manageability becomes even better thanks to Ageless Core. And you have that ST attack chain that you asked for.

This may not be the first build to meet your requirements, but I would contest that it is the best. It gets you what you need, what you want, and it does it in style. I feel that I have met all your requirements, and exceeded them. I have offered a build that is better than the competition, and I will wait quietly until next weekend until your final decision.

  10. I wouldn't agree that first come first serve is the best approach, I am planning on putting the finishing touches for my entry on this afternoon because I've had tons of meetings and work towards my PhD this week, which is why I haven't made a submission yet. I will not be reviewing any of the builds before I make mine as a lot of people don't know what they are doing even if a redname randomly pulled their name out of a hat for a previous build contest...

jk THB, and props on your build for that contest which would have been my second pic, maybe third...
  11. One more thing, you can buy Kinetic Combat from the Paragon Market and they will actually adjust all the way to level 50.
  12. My calculated DPA with this attack chain is 209.

Calculated DPA with Blinding Feint + Attack Vitals combo is 184. (I included the AV proc which moved the DPA from 172-174)

The pause is ~0.195s without Ageless Core Epiphany. Adding a low dpa attack in the chain would actually do more harm than good.

For mitigation, Smashing/Lethal is near softcap with strong resistance as well. Fire/Cold is softcapped. Energy and Negative are very close to softcap. Psionic has good Def+Res mitigation. Toxic is my weakpoint, but very rare. Strong Regen (611%) should be sufficient to make it for trials. (Although if you have any suggestions, I could make changes)

One of the nice things about DB/WP is that it requires so few powers and slots for the powers that you are using that it allows you to mule a lot. On the other hand, it requires you to mule a lot if you want to hit those juicy mitigation numbers.

The PVP proc will take a while, but you can get it through hero merits via tip missions and/or merit reward conversions.
  15. I have an old scrapper laying around, thinking of rebuilding for iTrials, and was looking at increasing mitigation and simplifying my attack chain.

Mainly a solo toon, but would also like to be a productive member of a team,
    Proposed attack chain is Blinding Feint>Ablating Strike>Sweeping Strike>Short Pause>Ablating Strike>

Can I improve my attack chain?
    Can I improve recharge?
    Can I improve Def/Res/Reg?

I am not hooked on any of these powers, and will take all criticisms to improve the build. I also haven't played this toon in over a year, so will have to relearn anyways, but that's where I stand:

  16. Alright, with the information given I took this build and said, let us take you into melee range, and focus on incarnate soloing. A real Dark Astoria focused toon that will be great in this new region.

Why melee with a troller? Well with this build one of your biggest mitigation powers is Arctic Air, a beautiful confuse power that can also have a contagious confusion proc added in. The stealth together with the -visibility from flash arrow will allow you to sneak up to sleeping foes, did I mention the stacking sleep combo of Flash Freeze>Poison Gas Arrow that will mean that you will have all the time you need to get into range for your PBAoE Glacier to put the entire group on ice. Mitigation? They can't hit if they can't move. And those that can move are hitting eachother...

Acid Arrow>Disruption Arrow will drop resistances, especially with the Achilles' proc in the arrow, or the Achilles' proc in your oil slick that will be lit from underneath with a

With a reactive Radial Flawless Interface any of your damage dealing powers could spark the oil slick, but you also have a selection of fire attacks to be 100% certain. This is a build that is procolicious with 30 procs. There are procs in almost every power, -recharge, -resistance, -to-hit, placate, heal self, extra damage, this is a gambler's build which will make the outcome of each battle unique.

If you still want a little more scrapper-like mitigation, I'll slot you in for Agility Core Paragon, bonus recharge and defense!, Vorpal Radial Final Judgement, bonus defense! and Barrier Core Epiphany, bonus defense and resistance!, and Cimeroran Core Superior Ally, they can't hit you if they're hitting these guys, who also hold the title for the highest DPS of the lore allies!

So, now that you've heard about it take a look:

And if you are brave enough you too can live this build by choosing it as your future build! Best of luck in making the right decision!
  17. Congrats THB, don't worry, I'm not bitter...

I was referring to toggles that do not detoggle when mezzed, such as tough and weave. Of course, toggles that detoggle or are generally toggled on during combat need to retain their cast times. I would also add that having long cast times on powers makes trying to get back into combat after faceplanting more difficult than it needs to be.
  19. Here's a better idea, decrease the cast time of toggles! There is no game mechanic reason to have a long cast time on a toggle, it will not affect combat aspects of the game, but it will make life a heck of a lot easier, on start-up and when using the annoying travel powers.

    Bug Out!

There are three -res, so I didn't think it would be too overpowered, that being said, I think it would be reasonable to place a -dam, -to-hit proc instead of the -res, -def proc for hornets nest.

The concept of this set is a new take on illusion with a corruptory feel. Also, it should be a nice set to conceptually match with /poison.

    Bug Out!

I had originally referred to that, but thought better of it seeing as Beast Mastery is still, technically, under non-disclosure.

That being said, a single power is not enough...

    Imagine a Control set:

T1 Stinging Swarm (Moderate DoT (Lethal/Toxic), -res, -def)
    T2 Scorpion's sting (Minor DoT (Lethal/Toxic), Hold)
T3 Spider's web (-reg, -rec, immob, minor toxic damage)
T4 Insect Camouflage (+Def (self), -threat)
T5 Nesting Field (summon nesting field (targeted AoE, 30s effect, -movement, chance for minor lethal/toxic damage, chance for stun, chance for terror)
T6 Personal Swarms (Summon Pet swarm x3)
T7 Plague of Locusts (Targeted AoE, Hold, -res, -def, minor smashing DoT)
T8 Hornet's Nest (Pseudo-pet, area toxic/lethal damage aura, -res, -def, chance for terror)
T9 Black Widow's Kiss (Summon Black Widow, Black widow powers include a minor summon for spiderlings)

    Bug Out!

I was looking at the Devouring Earth Swarms. It is an interesting visual and I was wondering whether it would make a good set.

What do you think, would this be a good set, should it be ranged, control, or support?

What powers will fill in the blanks?

I will be posting a set later, but I want to hear what the community has to say.
  23. If I am going to be soloing with this build, would I be better off rolling it as a corruptor?

To be blunt, you're still missing bothing Sonic Barrier and Sonic Haven, AKA your shields. Yes, I know it has no effect on you, but it will help your teammates out a lot. And now that they are AoE it's easy to buff everyone on your team.

Like I said, your build is good for solo play, but that's it. If you ever plan on teaming, even if only to get the Task Force Commander Accolade, those two powers will be loved.
Would you recommend that I cut Super Speed and Piercing Rounds to take those powers? Where can I make up the loss of recharge?
