Quote:I just found it more boring than anything. Then do the exact opposite, thats what running the Magi trial is like.
Its slow, painful wreck of trial and the ONLY one that unlocks hybrid. Ive seen some bad trials, but this is by far the worse, maybe Voiced leagues can do this, but every single pickup league fails this trial.
Congrats devs........
No wonder they were calling for AT's the only real way to do this is to stack corruptors.
unpleasant, not fun and required....... BRILLIANT!
I have run it once on my main alt, I was not expecting us to succeed since everyone was new to it, and sure enough we failed. The leader dropping team mid-trial, long before it became evident that we were in fact going to lose, did not exactly help matters. Then he weas right back on the Virtue TF channel trying to form another league.... LMAO
The problem for me is, I don't particularly CARE about unlocking Hybrid. I honest-to-God, reallyreally just don't care - so that carrot-and-stick approach so loved by the development team is not working well in this instance. I have no urge to put all of my level 50s through this grind. It'll be interesting to see just how many people are still running this, say.... in about a month. -
Quote:So bad is this problem in Lambda, that I actually ended up deleting my baby Beast MM over it. Too many times the league is sitting at the main door, waiting for it to be time to acid the portals shut when all of a sudden, golly gee look! All of someone's Beasts, lead by that most annoying Direwolf [and does that thing ever SHUT UP, and here I was thinking Demons were bad...!].... when all the Beast pets break lose and make for Marauder as if they were so many arrows speeding to a bulls-eye. And suddenly its on, whether we are ready or not. Nice.because their AI is bugged in trials and also they're totally gimped in half of them. (Lam, TPN, Keyes etc)
The MM in question always says they're trying to heel, but the pets are ignoring him or her. Is this true? I dont know, and have little inclination to find out. I'm not getting another MM to 50 only to find they cant participate in half the end-game content anyways: as it is My MMs have yet to run LAM, TPN, Keyes or MoM - I may be crazy, but stupid I am not. The people I see dragging MMs through these trials almost never make a decent fist of it and end up causing tons of trouble.
Trials well-behaved MMs do well on: BAF, UG. Maybe DD. And that is IT. -
Quote:I am playing a MM. In fact, two of them.sure everything has god mode now at level 50+, but MM's invented it. MM's soloing GM's, AVs, pretty much anything. They are one player teams (at least /dark and /traps).
They are also unique to CoX as far as I know - being able to control so many pets with that much control.
So why aren't you playing a MM?
Rather than encouraging others to play them, it'd be great if we had fewer people playing them.
Most people seem unwilling to invest the time and energy needed to make sure they're not running wild. I wish I had a dollar for every time pets go streaking off into the distance when a Tank is trying to pull Seige to the desired spot. Repeated requests to heel pets go unheeded.
Yeah, have to say this AT really ought to have an IQ test attached before you can roll one. The only thing worse than a careless MM is a careless Stormy - and don't get me started on THEM. -
Quote:Can't speak for everyone, but it's sure a factor in MY staying out of there. There's also the perceived difficulty of the enemy groups in Praetoria, though I don't think that was a significant factor
The mere memory of my level 19? 'troller facing off against Vanessa DeVore and EIGHT copies of Vanessa.... uh, how about no.
Overall the mobs are absolutely brutal for squishies, and instead of facing three at once, solo players on +0 often faced swarms of seven or more - AT LOW LEVELS. And another wave will be comin' 'round the mountain in 5... 4... 3... 2...
Every now and then I run someone with shields through the First Wards arcs for giggles. But squishies? Hell to the no.
This kind of brutality is not how you win hearts and minds into sticking around in a zone. -
Quote:I am tired, tired, oh so very tired of this type behavior being defended as "oh, that's just his way" or "oh, he's just telling the truth."I've always pictured Venture as a guy that smiles a big wicked grin and spills his drink with glee whenever someone calls him a troll or ignores him.
You know if you want to offend, harass, or downright troll someone, nothing's more effective than telling the truth.
Truth-telling need not be defined as intended-to-provoke snark and just general disregard for the feelings of others. There is a HUGE school of thought online in particular, that rudeness is the new currency, its the new way to go, rudeness is power and if you cant handle being flamed, well you are just WEAK, and get your sorry @ss offa the Interwebs and STAY GONE, YOU CAREBEAR.
Rudeness being the new norm is one reason the United States is on the verge of social implosion: rudeness rules the airwaves, everyone is screaming and no one listens because every last one of us is a very special, special snowflake who gets to disregard the rules of orderly conduct. it sucks society-wide, and it sucks when people get flamed for absolutely no reason on a message-board when they're trying to share their love of a given thing with likeminded fans. Did [general] you think you were gonna find some cool people to hang out with and discuss your love of CoX?!! Well prepare to lose your illusion, weakling.....!
There's some real home-truth for you. Hope you're not offended. -
Quote:Dude, do NOT quit over the forums. What goes on here and in the game are two completely different things. Night and day different! People tend to be extremely dogmatic here and they absolutely will attack as a group, aka "dogpiling" any time the whim strikes them. Not that this is happening in here, but just a general warning. So you're describing your own choices as "shrapnel?" No, you chose to act like a belligerent jerk and troll.
And just in general, can I not post anywhere on the internet without getting hostility and grief for the effort? I came here a few months ago with wide-eyed, gushing enthusiasm about the game. I'm now on the edge of cancelling my subscription and calling my attempt to be part of the CoH fandom a wash. I wonder how many other players who tried the forums made the same decision without saying anything?
Just shrug it off, or give the forums a break for a while, I find both of those tactics extremely effective. We have certain people who have been here a long time, who feel that that long-timeness gives them a License To Rude. Laugh it off and go on your way. -
This is gonna be fun.... no joke.
Quote:So, everyone who writes for Marvel is "intensely morally disturbed"? Because the Marvel U has been throwing villains in the Vault or Ravencroft, and using them as guinea-pigs for decades now. Have you ever even READ a Marvel or DC comic?! Much less a lot of what goes on in this game right here! Praetorian arcs must induce atrial fibrillation in you. Don't run the MoM trial by the way!! Intensely morally disturbed people wrote that. That you think brainwashing or medical study of captives doesn't reduce them to the same level as simply using a flamethrower, marks you as being intensely morally disturbed.
Also, don't read Marvel's recent "Carnage: Family Feud" TPB because you just might have an aneurysm at what is done to Carnage in the name of science. Carnage is not at ALL a nice guy, but that's why I love him... and what is done to him is in no way right and backfires horribly on his tormentors. One example of DOZENS over the years.
I don't remember posting that I thought brainwashing was a peachy-keen thing to do to anyone. It would probably beat being roasted alive, though.
Quote:I'm not at all joking. It's people like you who worry me. A flamethrower is evil, but brainwashing, an act which adds obscene violation on top of what is ultimately personality death regardless, is fine, is what should be done instead of the flamethrower. That's not right. That's not right at all. I'll take the flamethrower rather than personality death leading to programmed servitude in battle until I die thanks. Pretty sure all those Germans who got cleaned out of bunkers on D-Day would have agreed too.

Quote:You're reminding me of the people who argued entirely seriously that heroic Zombies masterminds are totally ok. Not people who figured that the zombie was a construct of pure magic or something, or some sort of summoned ghost or spirit that didn't claim an existing physical body, they thought it was perfectly fine for heroes to be reanimating the bodies of anyone to use as expendable cannon fodder in the name of heroism. The relativism is disturbing, where obviously wretched acts are kinda ok because they're not visceral enough for you to give a damn (like brainwashing), or you just don't care what other people think (like raising them and their friends and their family from the dead as disposable toxin spewing horrors).
But in answer to the above, you need to get out more. We are discussing comic books and games, not real-life acts. People summoning zombies can't happen in real life. Which is kind of a shame.... and would be morally wrong, but moving on:
Quote:Basic fact of the matter is that in CoX you can take a battleaxe to a Hellions face and the guy is tough enough, if you pull your punch so to speak if you also happen to be superstrong, to take it and just be subdued. Heroes hack, slash, burn, freeze, blast and irradiate their foes with what turns out to be a completely acceptable degree of non-lethality. To take that context and toss it away when defining the use of a flamethrower doesn't make sense in the slightest. It's like complaining that using a WMD is universally the act of a bad guy, just as Reed Richards is shooting Galactus in the face with one to stop him eating the planet. And Galactus won't even actually be very hurt by it.
Moral of the story: stop setting my character on fire, tyvm! And take a deep breath, this is a game, these are comic books, we are here to have fun and the fact that I dislike my level 20 being flamethrowered for merely appearing in a mission does NOT mean I would have been wearing swastikas in WW2. Sheesh. -
Quote:Sorry. its not and never will be "heroic" to run around flamethrowering people, or drenching them with hydrochloric acid or whaever.Let's get some damn perspective here people; Longbow use Flamethrowers in the name of heroism.
They do not use swords, axes, warhammers, all three in titan sizes, claws, disintegrating beam rifles, ravage with nightmarish dark energy, or freeze victims solid. On top of, of course, setting absolutely everything on fire with projected balls of flame, armour made of flame, and walls of flame.
The 'Longbow use flamethrowers' argument is even more stupid than the idea that the sovereignty of the Rogue Isles should be sacrosanct. The things we do to villains go so far beyond what Longbow does by utilising 'a flamethrower' it isn't even funny.
I mean seriously, do people even think these things through at all? Yeah, it's totally nasty for Longbow to break out a flamethrower. They should leave it to me, a flame shrouded, flame spewing, flame sword wielding ENTITY OF LIVING FIRE. It's totally ok that I use fire for....uh....absolutely everything, including as my own personal flamethrower, but Longbow baaaaaad.
EDIT: Oh, and PPD Swat teams will set up a mortar that drenches you in ACID.
I can do that as a villain, because I'm a villain. Longbow should just be honest and admit that they're not one whit less villainous than I am, despite the happy-happy joy-joy white outfits with stars on 'em. Using a flamethower on me reduces them to my level; they should be intent on capturing me and throwing me in the Zig for future study, or to brainwash me into working for them in the future.
Frying villains like a french-fry at McDonald's is not changing hearts or minds. And it makes them villains too, but ones unwilling to admit to themselves what they really are.
Its hypocritical. -
I played CoV for two years before I ever put one toe blueside.
Longbow are the bunch who FLAMETHROWER people in the name of heroism, as if characters on a team in the mission were a bunch of rampaging xenomorphs. Nice.
And now they own Fort Darwin, which makes bile rise every time I see it.... geez.
Longbow are not my friends. They never will be. -
Good Lord, who is this woman? And why do we not have access to every last thing she is wearing?
Please make the tattoos happen, for male AND female models. A variety of tattoos would be nice, esp. tribal ones too.
Seconding the request for Egyptian pieces, people have been begging for Egyptian stuff as long as I have been on these forums.... probably longer. -
Quote:This, please. No, never going to buy one. Indeed, it's easy enough to level.
That said, I hope (for the sake of people who said that) the whole "I turn off XP" or "it should be made harder" is hogwash to look cool on the forums, because I can't possibly understand this reasoning.
I have not and will never pay money to level faster, but for those who want to purchase xp boosters.... its not hurting my game.
With that said, when my people hit certain milestones they'll stop teaming in order to enjoy content. For instance once my villains hit St Martial, its slow and easy until they hit about level 41. I like almost all the St Martial contacts and I love that zone visually. Likewise, when people hit Marshall Brass or Doc Delilah, no more teaming until they get the O-portal.
But then, I'm one of those naughty villains who thought AE mito farms were a hoot, so don't listen to me. -
Thanks everyone, mission completed last night.
Not really sure this is the most well-thought-out mission ever, but at least I got through it. I must admit I am enjoying these newer missions with altered ambient lighting; this mission is lit by torches and I really like it. Adds spice to even the same-ol maps. -
Ok, perhaps it is just a lack of intelligence on my part, or maybe I just missed a clue somewheres.... but can anyone tell me what we're supposed to do in this mission?
I kill everyone I meet, ok good. Go through first portal, kill everyone else, ok good. Then I get to the room with three portals, and it comes to a complete halt. I have two choices:
1. Get 'ported to a dark cave-room full of 100 orange-title ghosts with a portal at the other end, said portal returns me to the beginning of the mission
or
2. Get 'ported back to the three-portals room, wash/rinse/repeat.
This happens no matter which of the three portals I pick. Obviously I'm missing something, please clue me in. I have two alts actually waiting to drop this mission, I find it so frustrating. -
Quote:I deleted mine at about level 30 because he just felt so incredibly squishy. If I have a character sitting idle for months because I'm avoiding them, they stand a high chance of eventual deletion. I really liked him and his concept, he just needed too mcuh micromanagement for my taste.but there are very few crabs out there on either side.
so why are you not playing a crab SoA?
And have you tried one?
Have a level 50 Bane whom I *heart* eternally, have a level 50 Fortunata who is just ok.... admittedly she still needs a lot of IOs, that will be the true test.
But the Crab, he had to go. -
Like a cat is going to allow a pack to be strapped to its back for any reason, much less serve as a pack-animal.... now we're REALLY talking some fantasy. Looks like a far-away dog to me.
Now as to the whys of a dog running around on the moon with no breathing apparatus, you got me with that one. -
A small change that almost made me quit was the Hover nerf removing KB protection. This was a BLATANT attempt to force us to use IOs, and I'm still actually quite peeved about it. Not about using IOs, but over something that had been in place since launch of game suddenly becoming an 'exploit" or whatever the Reason du Jour was. The Hover nerf was, and remains, stupid.
A change to IOs along the lines of Enhancement Diversity might get me out of here. I don't know. That would not be a "small change" however. -
I just want a base expansion pack, is that so wrong?

Quote:Sad to say, this is a spot-on assessment except that I dont recall ever seeing vampires in the Virtue Pocket D. Xieveral forgot the catGUYS though. I get a big kick out of those.I don't know if that's a serious question but yes. As a matter of fact, most people blatantly state they're a futa in their bios.
Fun fact: furries and futa make up about half of the typical Pocket D crowd the rest being a hodgepodge of S&M schoolgirls, vampires, werewolves, "dark and edgy" magic men, teenagers with pseudo-Japanese names and a sprinkling of people just passing through.
I never fail to be amused when I log someone into Pocket D - having parked there for the badge - and there's someone madly jumping up and down in front of me: "meep?" "meep?" "meep?" or maybe just a string of hellos.... GO. AWAY.
Quote:Anyway... more on topic, I am exclusively redside and have never had any griefing issues. For the most part,we no-good dirty villains have good manners. You get the occasional punk but they don't do much more than ramble in broadcast. -
And neither will you.
"Oh wait, I didn't say I was leaving!" you say, whereupon I reply "But that's my line. Nowhere did I say I was leaving."
Deal with it.
I am a tier 9 VIP and will remain so; however I disagree with having to STILL pay for a sub and just about....everything else on top of that. That shouldn't be what VIP-ness is about. With that said, appreciate Zwillinger's input on the situation.
If you - whoever you are, you are not familiar to me - don't like my opinion, you got Ignore like everyone else. Use it. Won't hurt my feelings a bit. -
Quote:I sure do get points for subscribing; and these items cost more than 400 points at a swipe, which is my entire point puns not intended. That's 6 new powersets a year. Or 3 new powersets and 6 new costume sets a year. You have control over how you spend those points. Points you get for just simply subscribing to the game.
And since i get tokens for subscribing, they are not exactly free. So, I pay a subscription and then pay more money on top of that; sweet deal for somebody... not for me though. -
Since the stipend is 400 points and [for instance] new powersets inevitably cost 800 points, you can see how that's going to end up.
-
Quote:My main Tank got invited to a TF once, and two Storm Controllers were on the team. I had an idea that my life was about to be made a misery, and politely bowed out before start. On occasion, my friends and I do a form of griefing that involves powerset conflicts.
For example, all four of us had illusion/storm controllers, so sometimes we would team up and then invite scrappers and tanks to our team. With all the knockback and repel and wild storms ... well at least the melee guys got xp.
This kind of thing is what makes people avoid teaming with stormies, just saying. What's all in good fun to you might end up with you being quietly one-starred by your victim. -
Quote:'Cause the Black Knight armor is not part of either the Chain Mail set or the leather set, that's why. From the overview page:
"New Chain Mail and Leather Armor Costume Set: All VIP players have access to the Chain Mail and Leather Armor costume set. Look the part of a crusading knight, yeoman archer, or a rowdy barbarian in this versatile set."
So... I don't know why you're expecting to pay for it.
Hey, I'd be delighted to be wrong. Hope I am. -
Quote:1. I'm a she, thanks.I can't tell what BI is moaning about, the Free for ViP chainmail costume or that he may get the chance to spend his monthly stipend on the Black Knight pieces sometime in the future.
2. Black Knight pieces also should be free for VIPs, just sayin'. -
Quote:The Goon Squad can be annoying, and their leader kind of bossy... but this sort of thing right here is why I tolerate them.Member of this "Goons Squad" are the kind of element that is DESTROYING our game. I have REPEATEDLY had my costume contests crashed by certain members of Goons Squad. I work very hard to put on fun, interactive community activities where many members of Virtue's vibrant furry and otherkin community can come together and share their experiences, and it is VERY FRUSTRATING to have the Goons Squad come in with their terrible costumes of nude men with butterfly wings and destroy my work!!!!!
The mental picture this evokes is worth the price of admission alone!
p.s. public events are public; to avoid The Wrong Element I suggest events held in your SG base.
