I am not at all anti-trial, just wary of using things I might need for slots such as Lore, which drop in trials - when shards drop elsewhere.
The i20 stuff takes a lot of threads, which is fine since threads drop quickly and you can also make them from other things. Everyone but my Tank is hurting for shards though. -
Quote:Actually when I tried to customize Ion Judgement, the tailor interface would only show Cryonic Judgement. Since I don't have Cryonic, well.....Actually, with the Incarnate Powers showing up in the Tailor Window indicates they've made progress on the one of two fronts in making Pool Powers customizable, namely, the UI.
Can we just change colors on Cryonic? Or what am I doing wrong? -
Im not handing my acids to anyone, heard too much about griefing.

...Now forgive my ignorance, but this has been troubling me for a while and before I waste 10,000 shards I dont have crafting this stuff, I am going to ask:
To craft the alpha slot tier 4, am I correct in seeing that I have to RECRAFT all of the prior tiers one more time, to get it? I've already crafted that stuff, but it says I don't have it, evidently that first craft does not count.
As hard as shards are to get for me, this seems like massive fail to me - so I'm hoping I'm wrong. I have extremely poor luck re shard drops and if that is how it is, I may shelve the idea of ever hitting the Alpha tier 4. -
I hate that BAF cutscene so much that it probably raises my blood pressure 10 points every time I see it. It is one of the most annoying things in this game. Usually we can't even all get loaded in the front door when someone triggers what feels like ten minutes of cutscene featuring a close-up of Mayhem's rack. Big whoop-de-do, nor do I care about two robots lecturing me on some boneheaded strategy that a three-year-old could see through. This close-up of Mayhem's goods may be great with male players, but does nary a thing for me.
Please move this abomination somewheres later in the trial, such as was done with the Lambda one. -
PLease stop screaming for bug-fixes, we spent 50 levels being absurdly underpowered, we get one ACTUAL SUPER POWER and people are like "O Lordy, let's fix this now."
They're going to nerf it into the ground soon enough. Shhh. At the moment I am too busy channelling Electro, one of my favorite supervillains. -
Quote:I'd be grateful to the point of permanently one-starring a posterior chapeau of this type; and then I would make sure everyone in our coalition knew not only that toon's name, but his global as well. What he is doing is neither praiseworthy or helpful - to the contrary.This.
I know the guy, and yes this is exactly what he is doing. People should be thankful that somebody is willing to put together a team when there's a room for of people broadcasting for one. But no, we get people complaining instead.
Thank God he's not on my server. -

General reply: Well, my first hero got Ion Judgement last night, and I will agree that stuff like this makes you want to play that character a lot, and leads me to want to continue earning this iXP. That is truly a "super" power, not to mention I badly want the MK Victoria pet [And unlike most, I dont give a damn if the concept fits my character or not].
We advance well enough with the iXP I think, but still distressed over the lack of shards, which I still badly need in order to continue my Alpha progression. Shards drop at an incredily slow rate for me, I find it frustrating. And now we can get shards OR iXP, but not both. Sucks.
The shortness of the trials is a plus.
But yeah, Ion Judgement is a hoot -

Well the Trials are already petering out on virtue. Its getting REALLy hard to get into a lambda run after a week as people have stopped playing it. I haven't really STARTED on my Freedom toon and I am massively worried.
So If I don't man up and put up with repeating these two missions NOW while the rest of the playerbase is Putting up with it, its less and less likely I will ever get slots done.
*sadness* -
Quote:Thie thing that irks me is that I am only 87% toward judgement after multiple trials, and soon the glitteratti [i.e. those who do nothing but this sort of thing, all day every day] are going to move on, leaving me with still the need for these slots - and no one to run the content with. Because I actually have a job.Its not that I can't get a team
Its not that I cannot finish a trial (that bug was finally fixed).
I AM making progress...
Its just that I am bored out of my mind repeating the same two bits of content repeatedly.
I haven't even finished the first judgement slot on one character, and I am not having fun doing these trials anymore.
Am I alone in this?
I can't even bear to log into the game because I know all I will be demanded to do is incarnate content, which is just the two same tired boring trials.
People are figuring out how to run this stuff, but boy I saw some cussing and some ill interactions between the experienced, and people still learning. In one instance the newbies were compared to "monkeys ****ing footballs" because they were new and inexperienced in how to beat BAF. [Does that simile even make sense to you? Not to me, it doesn't.]
Leagues were getting punted out of BAF, and the leaders were reforming in Pocket D, and picking up new people instead of reforming the actual league, evidently out of laziness. Wow. I am incentivized to run this stuff again and again...>! But I have to, if I want the new shinies. Oh yay. -
*snerk*
Honestly, how many forms of in-game currency do we have now? About twenty?
I have a full-time job; I don't have time to sit out here and read these forums all day long, looking for other players to tell me what all this means and how to use the new twenty forms of in-game currency, becasue its all so complicated that it would take me a month to figure it out by myself. What the hell is an Astral Merit? What does it do?
I am sure that more content will be added besides the new TFs. But this is all just becoming needlessly and overly complex. Not to mention, I tried to run the new 20-40 TF with the two Durays at the end, and you know what? Even more than BaF and Lambda, that TF is what I would use if looking for a pictoral definition of ANNOYING!!!! were even needed.
That's not fun. Its just effing annoying. Rezzing in the hospital and then instantly being killed again is just annoying. If I wanted to debt-farm I could do that on my own, tyvm. And this insta-death does not happen just once, it happens over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, and then it happens a few more times for good measure. -
Honestly, I wonder why they even have a test server when content as buggy as this is released. Its like it wasn't even ON test.
I was not kicked this morning, and thank you God for that, had I been kicked two minutes before the end of a TF they probably would have heard the cussing all the way to the home office. -
QR: all this sounds about as fun as a trip to the dentist without Novocaine. Wheee.

Quote:I suggest you take five.Honestly, they might just be holding them until the last minute before I20 comes out. We're still supposed to get whatever that Incarnate costume is, as well. So we'll just have to wait and see, be patient, etc.
If there were new pieces included with the new issue, they would be on Test. There are not, so almost certainly we are getting no new costume pieces. This is just simple logic, please do not hyperventilate. -
Quote:They put the new stuff into booster packs nowadays because this is a significant source of new revenue, not because so many people are using the issue 2 "basics" or whatever.
That said, I have to ask, how often have you used these new costume pieces?
Maybe the reason the have made them into booster packs lately, is because a lot of people stick to the basics of what they had available way long ago.
I have no problem with boosters. My problem is with ***NO*** new costume sets included with a new issue, that we did not pay for. I understand the need for new revenue streams, but throw us a bone every now and then. Some of us have been here for 5+ years. We've sunk a lot of money into this game - including boosters. Must we have to shell out for EVERYTHING?
Rhetorical question only.
Quote:Someone else: I use them all fairly frequently except for the Animal pack which I didn't buy. The one I probably use least is science. Mainly because it's 80% masks so, if I don't need some set of goggles or a gas mask, I probably won't be using the science booster. -
Quote:I don't recall having made the statement "there are no good costume pieces available for free." What I did say was that these days we are expected to pay for ALL of the most interesting new costume pieces. Deny at will, but that's a fact. There are still plenty of good costume pieces available to everyone for free. You don't have to buy any of the booster packs in order to make a good costume, and you don't have to buy any of them period.
And yes, power customization counts as a costume, since you're altering your appearance. And this includes alternate animations and weapons, as well.
Power customization will count as costume pieces for me when I can put hot-pink Cloak of Fear on any of my alts that I choose, just like how I can put Valkyrie on anyone now - from my toughest Tank to my most delicate Controller. Power customization does not appear on the physical-appearance pull-down menus when building a new character, with the exception of weapons. Weapons can be costume pieces. And speaking of that, we need new weapons.
The verbal semantics some of you will employ to try to deny what's happening are actually pretty funny.
Nobody here wears hot pink:

Quote:Had you not purchased Going Rogue, they'd feel a lot less "free." As in, you would not be looking at them.Hmm. I had forgotten that Clock, Prae. Police and Resistance were specific only to Going Rogue... but you know, I can't think of who hasn't bought Going Rogue. So it was effectively free for me, because I wanted everything else that came with GR. Faction switching, Praetoria itself.
The costumes were effectively just 'free icing'.
When I speak of costume parts, I think of things that I can see when logging in and not hitting a single toggle: pants, shirts, armor, wings, faces .... stuff like that. I'm not stretching the point to include being able to make Dark Armor powers pink, and whee! thats a new costume part! .... 'cause to me it isn't, I can't put that on anyone regardless of power-set.
I CAN put Valkyrie and Mutant stuff on anyone regardless of power-set, so that IS true costume stuff to me.
Having to purchase every last damn cool thing sucks. I say that as someone who has bought almost every last booster. -
Quote:I would take that further: I really don't give a frankly-my-dear about NPC costumes, the only costumes that matter to me are ones I can put on my characters.
Zyphoid: How large are the costume request threads now? How often do we get new costumes (for free)? Has power customization been finished?
Threads about this stuff pops up constantly, and yet they seem to not realize how important player costumes are. New NPC costumes are great, but I want new costumes for MY characters.
I can't remember the last time we got a great included-with-subscription-fee costume, I really cannot. Perhaps the addition of the new faces, might be the last thing I can think of. That was a while back.
I remember when boosters were new, and people were roundly pooh-poohed for worrying that the era of costumes included with new issues was over, and now we would pay for any interesting costume parts. So far from that prediction being wrong, it seems like that day came to pass a while back. -
Quote:1. There is an old saying to the effect that "leaders lead by consent of the governed." Not many people are willing to put up with micromanagement in this game, which is entertainment - we get enough of that at work.
Members of the party got a little shocked (so does the jackass). In all fairness, they all thought I was disrespectful and that I should have "respected the underlings before being respected back."
I have one-starred many people for stunts like yours. Because you don't lead *me* without my consent.
2. Other people are not your "underlings." -
Quote:Yes I know that Lucks are very helpful, but in a long, sustained fight - which this was - I cannot store enough Lucks to get me through that fight. How many Lucks were you popping at a time? 4 gets you to the soft cap and no matter what the mob is, it starts missing a lot. It doesn't matter how many there are, they can't hit you.
If you are level 50 that is one thing. But level 19 is too low for multiple waves of one of the most powerful EBs in the game. As I have said before, having to repeatedly leave a mission to fill back up on inspirations is the very definition of a poorly-planned encounter, at least to me it is. This type of thing is why I stay out of the Mission Architect, because people think its funny to create bosses with such powers and how about no....?
All I can do is Just Say No.meanwhile Praetoria has seen the last of me, I think. Just like The Distinguished Competition has, sadly.
-
At level 19 I think I can carry ten? inspirations. Ten Lucks or BFs are not going to overcome multiple waves of the same Elite Boss. If I even touched her green bar she summoned yet another wave of clones.
This is so far beyond the pale of what a level 19 can do that I find it almost funny. -
Quote:As I mentioned before, had I went in with a team we probably would have ended up fighting 30-50 Vanessas as opposed to the ten. [I stopped at ten via intentional death, because there was no sense in my level 19 trying to overcome that amount of stacked sleeps and mezzes.... c'mon, lets be realistic here].Are you soloing content? I did prae content with teams and it was challenging in the underground but above I had no problems with it.
Also, is the AI different for Prae. I thought I read something about Prae having new dev engineering/features.
Praetoria is viciously difficult to solo. I find this to be dangerous in that I don't want the rest of CoX to follow suit with new content. I am in fact leaving the Distinguished Competition over this exact issue: unsoloable [and often badly bugged] content. I really like my characters over there but I find extreme hassle to be the opposite of fun. Nor do I like being locked in a room with an Elite Boss and my recharge/regen STOPPED, yes I said literally STOPPED, but that's another game thank you God.
I can't say it enough: I don't want that developer mindset in CoX. Praetoria has it in plenty and let's us not slide down that slippery slope. -
Quote:Try it on any flavor of level 19-ish Controller and let me know how you do.Interesting. I did that mission the first time at +1(I was level 18) and smacked her around in short order. She's not very tough. You just have to focus on her and not the clones. I was using my nin/nin stalker too...not exactly the most robust stalker out there. You don't even have to take her life all the way down...
The problem was not that I wasn't focusing on her, its that I can't take hits from 10+ Vanessas on a level 19 character - especially on a character with no shields whatsoever. I can't carry enough breakfrees to protect myself from ten mezzing/sleeping/whatever Vanessas. I would have assembled a team, but in Praetoria that would have meant facing 30 Vanessas, not just ten: I know how Praetoria rolls. Teams just make it worse.
*abandon mission from contact* Finito.
