Well Oath, you can get them for the women on your character-roster for a whopping three Empyrean merits - and I suggest doing it: this is the only flat boot my chicks will wear, everyone else is in heels. Really, having seen them both I think I prefer the "plain" Ascension pieces. They still glow, but are not as OUT THERE....
I'd say giving male characters access to the Armor boot is a lot less gender-bending than stuff like male shoulder kittens and females chomping cigars. That;s why I dont think it would be a stretch to make it happen for us. What do you say, developers...? Pwwwweeeeeeaaaaaaseeeee?????!! -
Yeah, that's just adorable Smiley-Girl. Guess what? I am female too. I have both male and female alts, and I love them equally.
However I have male alts that want the Ascension Armor boot. All the smileys in the world ain't gonna change that, kthxbi. -
..That may be why they did it, but if so that is a seriously retarded reason. That's not a thigh-high boot in the traditional sense; and even if it WERE, men were wearing thigh-high boots for centuries before women got hold of them.
Men need this boot. I say the development team should make it happen. -
.... For verily I say unto you, WHY IS IT THUS!:
.... Finally, at last and about time too, the Rikti have given up their stranglehold on all costume pieces with glowing lines on them. AT LAST we get our little grubbies on some glowing lines, and they're pretty darn cool, too. That Ascension belt might just be the coolest costume piece ever.
HOWEVER!....
WHY DO MALES NOT GET ACCESS TO THE ASCENSION "ARMOR" BOOT?!!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Those over-the-knee Ascension boot models with the sexy straps crossing the back of the knee are, well, SEXELLENT. Men need them! They want them! Why is sexellence reserved for females?!
[I do like the male Ascension boot as well. But seriously: make with the Ascension Armor boot for guys.] -
The Distinguished Competition has an "evening" skirt it lets players wear.
It is hideously ugly, and I for one have no desire to see it over here. Its ugly and the animations look stupid with it.
They have a lot of costume parts I'd give my left arm to see in this game, but that fugly skirt is not one of them.
Now as for Carnie masks, I'd like to see those. The skirt argument is a fail though. -
Quote:Why cancel your account over the fact that Ms Moo feels like she'll never have a 50? She wants a 50? As Picard is so fond of saying, "Make it so." She needs your help. That would be nice.
At this point, I'd take a bone like, 'Well, these costume pieces are incarnate-only now, but will be available in a booster on x date.'
I hated it when I dropped my merits on them and then Mrs. Moo had no interest in them because she'd never be able to have them on her characters. That hurt. I very nearly cancelled at that point.
Anyone with even a few friends who know what they're doing can PL/exemp friends to 50 in a matter of days - or maybe even one day. A few ITFs, a few farms and she's good. She can use Ascension armor. She can run trials, which like them are not are quite lucrative.
I can here you saying "I HATE FARMING!" from over here, and this is a valid point. Farming is boring as hell. No one will deny it. That's why you dont do it all the time, you do it to enable a certain task - like getting the other half her first 50, so she and you can have fun on a level playing-field.
And I DO want a new Trial every issue. What I also want are non-trial ways to get the salvage you need. I like trials. I just think we need more than two, and a new one that is so broken that people are not wanting to run it. [Saw this sentiment on two servers this evening.] Now that ain't cool. -
Quote:If I want these items, I must run Trials. We have zero other ways to get Empyrean merits, so if I want the items yeah I'm forced to run the trials. No, it really doesn't. You said it yourself, you want these things. If you needed them, you'd be being forced. At best you are being coerced, tantalized or encouraged. This isn't being forced. It isn't even a case of semantics, they're way far apart on the spectrum.
If we had other ways to get them, this argument would have merit.... but we got one way to get them, so it does not. And yes I want and need the armor, it is thematically appropriate for my main. He has to have it. So I have to run Trials.
Now with that said, if we had more than the two, soon to be three ways to get Empyreal merits, this would be less painful. And thank GOD these are global unlocks. But I still have to run trials to get stuff, if only to slowly kit out Judgement and Lore and all that. I have 18, soon to be 19 level 50s. Not even half of them will pursue the Incarnate path, but that's still a whole hell of a lot of grinding the same few trials. Sisyphus is wearily eying that hill in Hell, thinking about how many more times he has to get that boulder to the top and ....GAH.... -
If at no other time, I log everyone in in order to collect the yearly anniversary badge. So some folks on off-servers have a long period inactive, but nothing too silly.

All three of these weapons are awful, in my opinion. Was hoping for something different.... I find none of them graceful or beautiful. A crossing sign?! Be serious.
Those who love these, enjoy, I guess. -
Quote:Yeah, it kind of does: we need Empyrean merits if we want the Incarnate armor. The only way to get them is through these pestilential Trials. Ergo, if I want the Armor, I am forced to run the Trials. Over and over again.I do not think that word [forced] means what you think it means.
Luckily I have saved my Empyrean merits so I dont think this'll be an issue for too much longer over here. I just generally become annoyed with the incessant cheerleading of every last aspect of this game from some people. Its like this game can do no wrong. I have been here six years, and do not get me wrong - I love this game. But some stuff needs adjusting, and a lack of trial content/ability to get Empyreans from other sources than these same two *headdesk*-worthy Trials is one of them. -
*sarcasm* Yeah, that's just adorable, Smiley-Girl. We should all just shut up and keep grinding the same two [about to be three] - THE SAME TWO FREAKING TRIALS! - for the next six months, because there's "lots" more in the future! At some unforeseen point in the future we will have the same amount of endgame content that that W-named game does, so WOOHOOOOO!!! Let the celebration begin!
You can celebrate because that's what you do no matter what this game does: however I will keep on agitating for Incarnate stuff to drop outside of these Trials. This should have been done a while back. Go ahead and throw a party for content that may be literally YEARS away; those of us easily bored by the same two trials day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day after day, ***AFTER DAY!*** want other options, and are not appeased by the thought of stuff that might happen next year or whenever. So solly, Cholly.
*gets off soapbox* -
I'd like to know how forcing people who are otherwise uninterested in Trials to run them ad nauseum [like we have not ALREADY run them ad nauseum] is going to engender within those persons a burning hunger to do nothing but... run more trials! MOAR TRIALS!
I am also confused as to the idea of every alt who is a level 50 should be doing nothing but grinding trials -which is what gating this stuff behind Trial-only content says to me, in a broad sense. What? We have two trials, about to be three. A new Trial is not exactly popping up every week. Or even every month. Two Trials? Wow.
And yeah, I know more Trials will follow but that's a long time in the future. Till we get that content all of our level 50s are expected to grind those two Trials NOW. I have seen those cutscenes enough! Its like Sisyphus + hill....
This stuff, especially emotes for God's sake, is still ridiculously overpriced. At the very least we need to be able to earn these merits IN OTHER PLACES besides these same two Trials, which most of us have run to the point of *headdesk* as it is - and now we are looking at weeks of more of the same. That defines "fun" to me, don't know about everyone else. -
My understanding was that originally, each piece of Incarnate armor cost a lawl-tastic TWENTY-FIVE Empyreal merits. Be serious, development people; there's ridiculous and then there's fall-out-of-your-chair-laughing ridiculous...
I am grateful for the reduction, but would rather spend actual cash. And am glad that I only truly haaaaaaaaaaave to have 4 of the 6 Incarnate armor pieces. Am hoping that I can use multiple level 50s to unlock individual pieces of the armor for everyone to enjoy.
I will spend Empyrean merits to unlock emotes on a cold day in hell. -
I'm a little worried that people who decide to go free to play are going to not be allowed to be members of SGs? Did I read that right? I can see not letting f2p people CREATE SGs, or maybe even have rank within SGs restricted.... but not allowed to join SGs at all?! That seems rather Draconian, the social aspect is a big part of this game and the freebie-ers are already so restricted in other areas such as chat. Not letting them into SGs just seems really mean.
Or maybe I just read that wrong; these threads have been hard to keep up with since the announcement.
I plan on remaining a paying player, but dislike the idea of friends losing access to the base and what have you. -
Quote:A large collection of anecdotal nonsense [dare I shout "FIXT!!"] is worth not one whit more than any one person's anecdotal statement. You don't accept my prior statement. I don't accept a mountain of invisible, hearsay nonsense that you don't even have a link to.And a large collection of anecdotal evidence is worth just as much as one lone person spouting off nonsense? That is what you're saying.
Sorry. -
Quote:Ah, but if we want THE COOL STUFF, we ARE being nickeled and dimed to death. I say that as someone with almost all of the packs; I paid to get them and I rather resented it while I ponied up. I'm more than sure NCSoft doesnt care that I resented it, especially given the dearth - nay, the COMPLETE LACK OF - of new free costume stuff to offset new stuff we have to pay for, but I did resent it.As for the packs, nobody has to buy them. If you don't feel they're worth the price, don't pay it... Simple. You aren't being nickel-and-dimed. All you have to do to access the game and enjoy free content updates is pay your flat rate subscription.
This is the exact same argument we saw with badges necessary for certain accolades being placed in PvP zones: "Oh but you don't HAVE TO HAVE those!" Akshully.... I do have to have 'em.
And we're all being nickeled and dimed. This forum has some of the most diehard apologists I have ever seen. If word came out that NCSoft mailed vials containing pure Ebola virus to every subscribers house, we'd have people out here defending that decision until the last death-rattle caused em to drop dead from their computer-chairs. -
Quote:If you did not believe I was wrong, you would not have attempted to change my quote into the exact opposite of the original. Unless, of course, you are just looking to start trouble for no reason - which would be par for the course in these forums.
Oh, and please point out where I said you were wrong.
You are more than smart enough to understand that one can say "you are wrong" without actually typing the words "you are wrong." Attempting to fire semantic bullets in this fashion is good exercise for you, but isn't getting you anywhere.
Quote:Except that we are not "Saying you are wrong because you are wrong," as you imply. We are saying "This is inaccurate because we have all this evidence that proves contrary."
Forumite A: Theory!
Forumite B: I don't seem to be seeing that in the game, sorry 'bout that. Hmm...
Forumite A: Haha! You DO seem to be seeing that in the game, FIXT! By the way Im not telling you you're wrong there, just presenting evidence otherwise.
Righto.
My original comment still stands. -
Needed no fixing, standing by my original statement which was:
Conversely we see people saying the exact opposite on a regular basis:
"You're wrong!
"Really? Prove it!"
"You're wrong because I say you're wrong!"
See: discussions regarding the actual randomness of the RNG, especially re Incarnate trials, see past discussions of whether or not it was a good idea to bother taking Stamina.
*****
The playerbase has "accumulated no facts," they've accumulated a bunch of unverifiable hearsay which is not one whit more substantiated than my strong suspicion that the RNG is influenced by several if not many qualifiers, and its "random" after that, maybe. Pffft. Please.
By the way thanks for proving my above quote: you just said I was wrong because... you said I was, which is SOP for out here -
Quote:Or they took a lot of their villains and went completely blue, to be able to level those alts. Which I did. About ten of my villains are now heroes and are going to have to stay that way, on pain of having no one to play withYes it is dead. When GR went live many of the "red-only" players went Rogue so they could team with the more active and team-friendly blue-side. People still go red but only for a specific purpose.
My unregenerate, never-gonna-repent villains all moved recently to a higher population server, so they can actually meet some other evildoers. -
Quote:Conversely we see people saying the exact opposite on a regular basis:I have seen it frequently.
"I'm right!"
"Really? Prove it."
"Didn't you just see where I SAID I was right? That proves I am!"
"You're wrong!
"Really? Prove it!"
"You're wrong because I say you're wrong!"

Quote:So true, so true. I'd like to be able to take Epic powers earlier as well.I wonder why I couldn't just take the extra Epic Pool power I have to skip later on instead of the standard pool?
I always have to take pool powers, even if only to get Flight, Tough and Weave. What I resent is having to take bull**** powers like Boxing or Kick, which I simply cannot get off my toolbar fast enough. Useless, stupid wastes of a power-pick. And no, I have better powers to put six slots on, ty.
With that said I have several characters with everything chosen out of their primaries and secondaries, with NOTHING out of any Epic pool on them. -
Quote:Excellent post, Wendy and I agree with every bit of it, especially the above. I cant tell you how often I have had to wait to get out of the damn hospital, then died again and again as I struggle to rejoin my teammates on the grenade map, which engenders more waiting.... All this the game regards as my "not participating" which I think is grade-A bullhockey.
Oh and while we are here complaining that STUPID door at the hospital doesn't help matters either. I die.. I tp as fast as possible to the hospital so I can get back into action and then.. "DOOR WILL OPEN NEXT IN 20 SECONDS" So while I am standing there helplessly for almost half a minute the other members of the team are fighting. I am in TIME OUT... Basically its like saying "Oh well you were a bad girl. you died so you stand here and think about what you did for a while and then i will let you rejoin your playmates." I didn't like it when I saw it on beta and i like it even less now.
Last night I honestly gave serious thought to just not leaving the damn hospital until all of the weapons were collected. I was sick of racking up debt only to get the ten-threads reward again, what is my motivation to do that?
I was teamed with friends so I left the hospital, but I consider this trial irretriveably broken. It needs some serious "looking at," and until it gets it I think I am not running it any more. The only thing I hope is that Keyes Island IS NOTHING LIKE THIS.
I never have these problems on BAF. Never. Not one time. -
Quote:I don't have a problem with people leeching getting what they deserve.Mostly signed, as long as the measure implemented goes toward penalizing leechers rather than rewarding power-gamers.
I'd rather not have AT choices, bad powerset combinations, lag, lack of leet skills, lack of IOs, etc, to determine whether a player gets a good reward or a bad one. I *do* want slackers and afk'ers and ppl who don't check their temps for acids and grenades to be stuck with getting the worse reward possible.
I DO!!! have a problem with my Defender getting stuck with 10 threads every time he runs a Lambda and is placed on the grenade team. If you're not a tank, scrapper or stalker on the grenade team you are in great big trouble, because you are going to get jack and ****, in that order. You'll get jack and **** because you're going to die every five seconds. And that's WITH INVISIBILITY. If you're not leading the charge on the grenade team, you ain't getting nothin' honey. Resign yourself.
My Defender isnt leading the charge because its stun-stun-stun-stun-stun-stun-stun-stun-stun and then a few more stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuns of 5 minutes' duration on top of that for good measure. Last time I took him on Lambda I literally had an entire tray of nothing but BFs.
From now on only melee people run Lambda, on my account. Sick of this. It sucks, almost as hard as that arbitrary 10-second timer on the hospital door sucks. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT if not to ensure that people can do less, thereby +chance to not get a reward? The whole mess is so infuriating.
Quote:Voodoo: This is how I run my Trials. Everyone typically walks out with a Very Rare. Period.
And if I did, it would only bear out the point others have made that there is something seriously wrong with how player performance is graded in these Trials, so once again has the opposite effect from what you intended. I find it laugh-out-loud funny that some seem to be stating that the 10 threads reward is "random." Uh, not hardly. -
Perhaps he means that the next booster pack will zap all our computers back to the eighties, including graphics. Those look like some 1980s graphics for sure; thats one level above Pac-Man.
