I used to think they hated villains, then the Villain Epic classes came out and when I mentally compared them to Kheldians, I realized that yes it is true, the developers really DO hate heroes, not villains.
Was on a team not too long ago with someone who said they were playing their first Kheldian, and any time a Void Stalker showed up on the map he would scream "VOID! GET IT PLZ!" like we were honor-bound to save him from death. And if he died it was our fault.
Nope, whoever thought up Kheldians didn't love heroes, if you ask me. Which you didnt, just sayin'. -
Quote:So, whenever someone says "datamining" they're supposed to list an incredibly long list of stuff/functions/options/what-have-you in order to be consistent with your expectations of the actual meaning, anytime this word is used? Its one part of the process of extracting knowledge from large data sets. Imagine if someone said U.S. Steel built your car, or the Minnesota Iron mining association built a bridge ?
I wish you luck in getting people to comply; you'll need it. -
If it gets too crowded, you could always go to the VIP server, no?
No special privileges for Freedom and Virtue, no locking, no gating. I say this as someone with a bunch of alternates on both servers.
Let's send all the new people to a ghost-town! Great idea.... NOT -
I have someone wearing the Steampunk corset over a Mesh Tights top. This looked awesome, until recently. The back is clipped in three places, and the tips of her breasts clip through the front of her corset. Its like reverse-pasties. The entire top edge of the corset has chunks missing all the way around. It looks so bad - and so ridiculous - that I am about to take it off of the character in question.
I really loved these pieces, but the current clipping issue is unbearably bad. -
No special privileges for Freedom and Virtue, sorry.

Not to defend your respondant or anything, but please enlighten us all on the actual meaning of "datamining" if it does not mean keeping track of X, examining your numbers re X and drawing conclusions based on what those numbers show.
With that said, I dont think anyone could conclude "people love these trials! Lookit all the people running them!" when the only way you can get a bunch of end-game stuff is by running the trials. Any success achieved is not in making people develop a sudden lust for trials, but in forcing them to run them for specific content. And lets face it, if you want to unlock a slot, you are forced to run that trial. No other way to get it.
So what that shows is not love, but that people want the STUFF. Trials are not their most beloved of all activites, people just want their stuff.
What I'd be interested in is how well the Keyes Island trial has been received vs the other two. I have a feeling that set of data is not looking so hot at the moment. -
Quote:Superspeeding through a twisty warehouse with spawns every 20 feet? No thanks. Almost all of my squishies have Stealth and Invisibilty.I suggest getting Super Speed on your squishies and slot a Running +Stealth IO. You can then move around quickly and practically invisibly.
The problem is that every time I de-cloak in order to hit the grenade container, I'm instantly dead. I just find the grenade hunt supremely un-fun. -
...Well, my Dark sorcerer still has his Warworks pets. They're not consistent with his theme, but he loves Vicky so much he wont give her up.
Other folks will be branching out, tho -

Someone else: The devs have said several times on the UStream chats that bitter tears taste the sweetest to them.

...as for why people post rage-filled rants, its not because they hate the game and yearn to quit. They post rage-filled rants because they LOVE this game. -
Quote:Ah, so everyone who dislikes Keyes is a bad, weak character. I am glad you have cleared that up for us.You've hit the nail on the head. BAF is for characters not strong enough to handle either Lambda or Keyes, and for farming astrals, since it reliably rewards 4-5 astrals per run.
I don't mind it (though rewards should be reduced to reflect the lack of difficulty: the rare and VR table ought to be removed, and no astrals should be awarded for defeating siege and nightstar individually) because it's good to have one trial that gently introduces all the things common in endgame content. BAF is the shallow end of the iTrial pool.
"Farming" Astral merits, lawl.
I say we leave the BAF rewards alone, and have the developers nerf your rewards. You're so hard-core, you'd never even notice - right?
*disgust* -
If they are going to make trials fail because people get mapserved, then stability needs to be addressed immediately. Not in six months, not in 2013, but NOW.
Out of 24 players assembled for a trial, it seems that 7-8 players are mapserved merely upon zoning into a trial. About half of those players will zone in halfway through the trial, but many dont.
My point being, the people left have no control over whether The Mapserved come back or not. I dislike being penalized beause the server is not allowing people back on. It also sucks because when I am one of The Mapserved, the game locks my computer up so hard that I literally have to turn my machine off and completely reboot. This takes a lot of time and guarantees that I lose my chance at a good reward. Fail. -
Quote:So you are noticing the same amount of ixp as you did before this issue? Outstanding. My people are now earning between 1-3% progress per run. toward whatever slot is appropriate. Which is much less than they were earning before. Smells like a nerf to me.*meh* Not worth bothering.
"Incarnate XP being divided equally across the entire league is a nerf!"
Some posters i take what they post with a grain of salt; other posters require a whole bottle of hot sauce.
Emjoy your Tabasco. -
Quote:Because they might feel that they would be giving too much value for the price of the pack. I have a feeling they have a set number of pieces per booster pack [I have never actually counted]. Plus if they gave the Baron coat to women, people would start clamoring for all kinds of crossovers re other booster packs, imagine the headache. "The women got the Baron coat, now I want my guys to be able to have a male version of the Witch Lace top!"I don't follow your logic here. Wouldn't making the Baron coat unisex make the Magic pack more attractive to potential buyers, as well as assuaging the complaints of those who have already bought it and are currently less than happy with their purchase? How would adding a female version to an existing booster-pack costume part cause Paragon Studios to lose any more money than adding a female version to an existing standard costume part?
But the Ascension stuff is free, there's no cost-effectiveness ratio to worry about. -
No backpedaling happened, not sure what you're referring to here. I never claimed I liked being on Warworks-spawn teams for "increased" ixp. Never cared about that, what I want is not to have to fight the AVs twice or have the trial fail.
And I do want a chance at the very rare table, I know thats an uncool admisison to make but there you have it. -
I don't reallythink getting caught in the cutscene with a league possessing 19 out of the 20 temp powers is reason to kick anyone. By the time you zone back in the door and catch up to teammates, the objectives will long have been over. Ive been caught in it twice running back from the hospital, both times i assumed the "at ease" emote and waited it out.
The more important issue to me is people not opening that damn door behind Marauder. DONT OPEN THAT DOOR, he runs nowhere and potential problem solved! WHY do people feel this insatiable need to open that door?!
People who refuse to hosp deserve an instant kick. -
...Ah, the great ixp nerf [and yes, thats what it amounts to]. Thanks for the reminder.
I never cared about any possible Warworks-team increased rewards; what it looked like to me was that the people on that team had less of a chance to score the very rare reward table. I have no idea how true that was, nor does anyone outside the development team... but had no plans to continue trying to find out. -
1. BAF is how we unlock Judgment and Lore, two of the most-desired Incarnate powers.
2. 90% of the time on Lambda, I get stuck on the Grenade team. I dont mind on a character running shields, but if Im on a squishy character this all but guarantees me the ten-threads-only reward, because I do nothing except die. I dislike this INTENSELY.
3. On Lambda people want to do stupid crap like not take out the turrets. This annoys me.
4. On BAF, people want to do stupid crap like assigning one team - which I am always on - to defeat the Warworks spawns. Unlike Lambda, I can ignore this command and keep hitting on the AVs for increased rewards. [I have seen several BAFs fail due to one team being redirected away from the AVs, luckily this stupid tactic seems to be going out of fashion.]
For all these reasons and more, I prefer BAF. -
Quote:Uhhh, source for that one please, and please make it a reputable one.Wearing armor above the knees was actually a subtle way of showing that one was homosexual in medieval times.
I have to say that at this time I give that idea like.... zero creditability.
I have no problem with females receiving access to the Baron coat, but we're less likely to get that since the Magic stuff was a thing we paid for. However the Ascension stuff does not cost us a thing in real-world money, so they're not losing any of that by giving men access to the Ascension Armor boot. I have to say that this disparity in the boot genuinely puzzles me. What would the motivation possibly be for female-only access?! Makes no sense.... -
Quote:I am genuinely sorry to hear this. I agree that severe stress should be absent from what is ostensibly an entertainment experience.
A game shouldn't be stressful. It shouldn't be causing anxiety. And yet it was and I felt upset and horribly embarrassed, telling people as best I could what was going on and handing over whatever the heck the temporary powers were to someone.
My advice is to run BAF until you become more used to the idea of trials. Keyes is absolutely brutal. I have run it myself and I found it to be horribly unpleasant; BAF can be chaotic but its worlds-away simpler. The league leader will tell you exactly what you need to do on a BAF; just stick with your team and you will be ok.
The main problem with Keyes is that everyone other than the league leader has no idea whatsoever what they should be doing [if you are lucky, the leader knows what they're doing that is...]. This is because there seem to be ten things that each player needs to be doing ALL AT ONCE and people are running hither and thither like crowds fleeing the Martian death-machines in War of the Worlds. Then on top of this we have the death-ray pulses and incessant, continual death that at times even kills you as you stand in the hospital.
I actually like raids, but in my opinion Keyes is a horrible gaming experience. Compared to Keyes, the Apex TF is simplicity itself and that, my friend, is saying a mouthful.
Stay frosty. -
Quote:My Stalker ran two BAFs last night, and if I'm remembering correctly those two runs got him 9% percent of the way toward unlocking Judgment. I do remember squinting at my Judgment slot and wondering what the heck I was doing wrong, I actually went and made sure I had Alpha unlocked on that toon.peter: welcome to the trials
11%? seems low, but maybe since league ixp is now shared we get less now.
peter: you can use threads to gain ixp if you wish, they lowered the cost to do that from 2.5m to 1m.
Which I did. And this nerf sucks.
So instead of doing say, ten runs of the same trial now we're going to have run then 25 times or whatever for each slot. Like we were not already running these damn things enough! Yay for overkill. -
I am enjoying talking to a foolish-looking bird on top of a truck in order to remove league SBs. Nothing not to like about that; the ability to also evade Group Fly is just the icing on the cake.
Now if we can get Inertial Reduction added to the list! I admit that I am also not that keen on Ice shields, not least because they tend to be hot pink or solid black. -
...How about Fire Swords that didn't make me snort soft drink out of my nose every time I see someone pull one out? Some cool new fire swords?
Ice Swords could also use more options. The ones we have now are just.... ugh. My ice and fire people all skip the swords because of how ugly they are. -
Quote:Its cool, story-wise? What story? Guess I'd need to be the leader of the league to see it - all I saw was a confusing scrum of players as the league-leader tried vainly to let everyone know what they were supposed to be doing next. Go here! Do that! pick up those! Dont hit Antimatter! Kill those over there! To the bunker! No, not that bunker! Red and blue bubbled people, look out! Shout out when disintegrating! NO NOT NOW! Who has the power cells?! Taunt him dont hit him!! No not that bunker! Dead people hit the hosp! WHERE IS MY TANK! Who died and healed the AV!!I dunno, story writing wise I'd say Keyes is cool. Plus I gotta give Keyes props for being man enough to take on up to eighteen PCs on his own when all the others need to keep calling in backup.
I really felt sorry for the leader as every one scrambled about trying to do his bidding. But call the Keyes Trial a great bit of writing.... uh, no -
Two thumb's-up for the Good Spider morality mish! Which is worlds-away better than that boring Silent Blade thing.
Give the writer of that one a raise. But give whoever came up with that Keye's Island mess a demotion. If its the same person I guess those two things cancel each other out.
