  1. Did someone already say, "Movin' Right Along" by the Muppets? I'm not clicking on all those YouTube links to find out.
  2. K, I've updated the OP with current submissions we can test this weekend with the AE Storyteam.

For testing purposes, tho, I need some help...I don't know what the expected rewards would be for an optimized arc.

    - What's the preferred measurement? # of tickets per mish or # of tickets per minute?
    - How many tickets per mission (or minute) is considered 'good'?
  3. I'm thinking of framing that comment somewhere on my wall:

    Quote:
Dear sir, I stumbled upon your cafe while venturing into the AE building to avoid a storm of powerleveling in Peregrine. I expected a shoddy coffee shop, but was pleasantly surprised with a clean cafe full of tanks that brew shell flavored coffee. Needless to say, I will be attending this shop from now on. Furthermore, I shall visit more frequently for the next few days of Double Caffeine Weekend, leaving feedback each time.
I should have run a best comment contest! Maybe next time
  4. Thanks Bubba, now I can make an official review post!

Last weekend was Double XP Weekend and, as many of you know, AE Arcs are exempt from the Double XP boost...with one exception: Dev Choice arcs!! So, to take full advantage of the special occasion, the AE Storyteam hosted a Double XP Dev Choice Round-up! There was time for 2 arcs this week:

#71601 "[ZQ]The Once and Future King" by @Sumerian
    5 mish/Heroic

#374002 Two Tickets to Westerly" by @PW
    4 mish/Heroic
Unfortunately, I was out of town for the weekend but Bubbawheat was kind enough to give a couple quick reviews!

    Quote:
First we ran [ZQ] The Once and Future King by @Sumerian. It was an older arc, that could use some improvements but it was an overall decent, if occasionally confusing prequel story about Blue Steel and the Clockwork King.
    Quote:
Then we ran Two Tickets to Westerly by @PW. One of the more recent Dev's choices, which came from Aeon's 2nd challenge. I was more than a little distracted during this arc, but I remember it as an excellent as usual story from @PW.
I hear a good time was had and many Double XPs were gained! If you haven't tried these Dev Choices, load 'em up and judge for yourself if they're DC-worthy. Plus, earn a few XPs on the way

Next meeting: 8/21/11, Virtue Server. Theme: "Optimized Arcs!" Following up on my recent post about finding story arcs that give rewards comparable to farms, we'll load up a few of the suggested stories and see how they pan out! Join us on Virtue at the AE building in RWZ, all levels and ATs are welcome!

    The Alt Alphabet

It's interesting because your alts were somehow memorable. I pug as much as you alt, so remembering a pugmate is a rare thing...much less 4 of 'em! You must be fun and vocal in team chat

    The Alt Alphabet

Incredible collection of alts! Really diggin' the Quick Red Fox outfit

Y'know, I swear I've teamed with at least 4 of these characters...
  • That was super sexy. Welcome back Supa!

OH, and you need to post this in the scrapper forums
  • My guesses were right and it was fun to flip some 25-30 generic IOs for great starting cash on my new lowbies.

Still need to check if my pie-in-the-sky priced generic IO ever sold.
  • Thank you for making Double Caffeine Weekend a grandé success! Dozens of you blessed our little shop with your fantastic powers and presence this weekend and many of you joined in the drawing for 2 Alignment Merits.

Well, all the names went into the hat and the big winner is:

    ...drumroll...

@Molten Slowa! Congratulations! You've just won 2 Alignment Merits!

Again, a big thank you to everyone who entered, commented or simply stopped by the Crafter's Cafe to check things out. I hope you had a fun experience and we'll see ya back soon

  • This week's nomination:

#25622 "Teh Freakshow Artz Klub" by @Geveo

Have fun & may the froth be with you!
  • BTW- I added TCOSR to the GoodReads.com library. It's what I use on Facebook to share my reads/reveiws with friends since Visual Bookshelf closed up shop.

I hope I got all the book info right, I mainly copy/pasted from the scribd listing.
  • This is one of those areas I see story arc authors really needing to improve upon. Just think of how many more players would give your arc a try if you could tell them your arc gives full to max rewards? Or if you could tell them, up front & accurately, how many tickets they could expect per mish and how long each will take.

There's no reason we couldn't tell a compelling story AND provide optimized rewards.

We could really learn something from our farm-crafting counterparts in this respect and be a benefit to both ourselves and our players.
  • Only 1 arc submitted to this thread?

Wake up call: this is a niche that needs filling.
  • So does this make him "more" or "less" likely to be the one WHO WILL DIE?

In case you didn't know already, the workaround for this is to reset the leader once everyone is in the mission. For some reason, passing the star pops everything back into place.

I usually find 1 other player on the team to toggle leadership with and have them pass back the star at the start of each mission. It's extremely annoying, but it keeps the team alive.

Another work-around is to wait til all members are in the mission then kick & reinvite a member. This is much more difficult and dangerous as the kickee loses SK for a brief moment and you have to re-invite them within 10 seconds or they get kicked out of the mish.

I really hope this bug is quashed in Freedom.
  • To celebrate this weekend's big event we've made our first video!

The entire movie was scripted, shot & edited in about an hour, I hope you enjoy:

A quick intro to the Crafter's Cafe.

(apologies for the quality, acting & script, we got a limited budget here!)

  • To celebrate the upcoming Double Caffiene Weekend I made this quick intro video!

Don't forget: leave a comment after completing the arc between August 11-14th and you'll be entered to win 2 Alignment Merits! Limit 1 entry per day, per global handle

    PANCAKE Leagues!

You know, I joined a Mothership raid last night and the group organizing it opted to avoid using league for the event just for the above stated issue.

Many players seem to be experiencing poor performance in league mode, even today.

Personally, I have not been affected by it *knock on wood* but when I start to see work-around behaviors in-game, I know it's an issue that needs to be addressed. Much like the much-aligned Team UI bug that greys out random players (this bug is worked around by passing the star back and forth to a diff player once everyone is in mission.)

And yes, this needs to be addressed before you bring an influx of players back/into the game.
  • Just finished reading TCOSR a week or so ago and wanted to give a big thanks to you, Michelle, for such an incredible story!

I was amazed at how well you fit common gameplay events/mechanics into your world and kept it so grounded with the personal relationship of Posi & Tava. I'm guessing there's a TON of easter eggs and shout-outs that I didn't catch, but the ones I did brought a smile to my face.

This was my first fanfic read and also the first book I took from a PDF and converted to .MOBI to read on my kindle. Aside from the occasional spacing issue it was a perfect conversion and an easy way to read it!

I look forward to Pt II (when it's done) to do the same
  • 4 mishes should be fine as long as they're pretty much straight-forward action missions. 3 or 4 mishes should be easily doable in 1 play session and if the rewards are "maximized" then that works great!

What I'm trying to avoid are arcs that incorporate excessive chained objectives that run players around missions, sinking their time, or large map defeat alls that make it feel like you're grinding instead of making progress with the story.
  • The winner tells me what they want me to spend them on and I send the purchase/s thru global email.

    Congratulations!

If I couldn't find any trials or TFs forming I'd probably roll an alt or log off and read a comic
