I only have one scrapper and he is DA/DM but languishing at lvl 22 at the moment

I will be interested to see how the merit system works out - it could have some very good benefits for everyone!

After regaining love for my tank I decided it would be good to kit her out with IOs. Being my first alt I felt I owed it to her to make her the first toon to be fully kitted out.

This is where the issue arose...

Although she currently has Crushing Impact and Scirrocos Dervish slotted in a few places an upgrade is in order. I turned my gave to the 3 Purple sets I want. And cried...

It will cost around 400mil inf to buy the three sets - Melee Damage, PBAoE Damage and Stun. I will be collecting my pension before I get that much inf. And no doubt soon there will be purple Heal and Defence Sets to purchase too. I strongly suspect it is for this reason farming was born!

Even I have been strongly considering getting a temp 2nd account to get more inf to help me get there. 2nd account aside how long do people think it would take to earn around 500million inf doing anything that comes up in game...

I have a low lvl Brute who is good fun to team or solo but my main Villain and the only one I got to 50 in 2 years of playing the game was a Stalker. I found something immensley satisfying Assassinating people

One of the things i love most about my Fire tank is the fiery sword. I can see nothing wrong concept-wise with a creature of fire being able to fashion a sword from flames (same goes for ice sword and stone mallet). The stone mallet doesnt appear from thin air - the character drags it from the earth!

Sorudo you mentioned that MA/Claws doesnt fit thematically with a Magician - but how many magicians would get involvied in fisticuffs - surely any decent magician would fashion a weapon from thin air...

As others have said - not all powers in the set involve weapons - you can always avoid the powers you dont like and take something else instead!

Yeah I noticed after an invasion in Atlas a couple of days ago that I got lvl 34 recipes - if the mobs scale to suit level surely a lvl 50 tank should get lvl 50 recipes???

The main reason I rolled an empath was because I had got my tank to 50 and wanted to see how the game played from the opposite end of the fighting spectrum. Whilst I have never abused healers I have seen it happen often where people think 'empath' actually translates as 'miracle worker'. No healer in the world is going to keep everyone alive all of the time and when a team member dies the empath usually feels worse than the person who faceplanted! (Unless they had previously been shouting HEAL for the past 15 mins)!

Also as Praf said some people think of healers as being synonymous with the word 'leech'. It is a shame this view is being carried because I would assume there are relatively few people who create a healer and set to Follow and 'Healing Aura on Auto' to lvl with minimal effort - but as with everything these few give a bad name to the masses (except of course Mothers Love who is famed throughout as the worlds greatest healer

My personal record for that one is 135 Carnies in a row... Go beat 45 Carnies x 3 in Peregrine of course. By the end of it, I was ready to beat on whomever came up with those 3 little pearls.

Oh my god Blue I remember that from my tanker - the killing wasnt the issue - the sheer effort involved in finding 135 of the buggers was a nightmare. I suspect the mission creator had a headache that day lol

I would love it to be replaced with something that gives KB Protection - I have acrobatics so dont really need a -KB IO and really would begrudge taking a power just for that considering the expense of the IOs.

Must admit I found a big difference from when I first played my emp/rad defender to playing her now (well - 6 months ago). In the 'good ole days' emps were hard to come by for teams and like they appear to be US side wrapped in cotton wool to be kept safe - now they have been superceded by Kinetics it seems Hence the reason my poor healer is languishing under several inches of dust on a srver somewhere

I didnt need Stamina on my stalker till late 30's - then I noticed more as you are in missions where the 'Stab one boss to complete' theory doesnt work and more sustained fighting is required. Also for team play in later levels I felt it was unfair for me to play as a 'Stab One Miss a Few' member so my end suffered. I succumbed to the call of Stamina at about lvl 38 iirc

I have Acrobatics for KB Protection atm but it is no longer 'all powerful' I know Plasma Shield (iirc) gives Mez/Hold pretection but woul like there to be a KB resist power in the set. I considered ditching Acrobatics in favour of 2 KB Ios but they are somewhat er... costly

Temperature Protection is pretty pointless as without it I am running at 90% Fire Resistance and there are very few enemies out there that do Ice Dmg, or at least enough to worry me

Not to sound entirely dim but - what exactly are APPs and PPPs???

After getting reacquianted with my Fire/Fire tank recently I started wondering. Does anyone actually take the 'Temperature Protection' power? I don't know of anyone that has it (granted I dont know every fire tank in the game) and in light of all these upcoming tweaks and adjustments to powers is it time it got exchanged for something more useful.

For preference I would like something along the lines of
'Wall of Flames' - Mez/Hold/KB Protection much like every other tank/scrapper set has. This would then mean I can ditch SJ and Acrobatics which has never been the same since it was 'adjusted'

I would be interested to hear other peoples thought on this!

I love the way a number of forumites are so willing to throw the teddy out of the cot over what they oerceive to be bad/poor changes. Surely the sensible thing to do is dicuss the upcoming changes with an open mind because until the new issues hit the test server we have no idea how the changes will affect our gameplay. Some of the comments in here will leave people looking mighty stupid after they have pi**ed and moaned about 'how the mission creator wont give new content' or 'how the levelling pact will be of great benefit to PLers' if when it arrives it is not exactly as people are fearing. Do you honestly think the Devs havent thought about the Levelling Pact being of benfit to PL'ers and will tweak it to be beneficial but also limit possible abuse? Levelling two characters at the same rate can hardly qualify as 'Power Levelling' it still takes the second alt however long it takes the first alt to to get to 50. Sure this means people can get from 1-50 with no effort but it is still a lot slower than PL'ing.

It has already been stated that Mission Creator is being held back so they can add customisable characters in there etc so this will add new and interesting dimensions to gameplay.

At least give the Devs a chance to show the results of their hard work before slating them for what you perceive to be bad ideas! Obviously if when it arrives then it does turn out to be a bad idea then they become fair game

Server merge threads are always fun - sure there are a few + sides to the idea but there are also a lot of negative sides to it. Personally I wouldnt care either way as long as my toon names don't have to change. As this is a fair sized risk I would have leave this theory /unsigned

After an instructive lesson on 'the uses of taunt' from Shannon I have finally respecced my fire/fire tanker. She now has taunt and (although still learning) after a couple of AV missions the same night I kept the AV taunted until his untimely demise and nobody died whilst fighting him - I was so happy! Granted the lack of deaths was probably mroe due to the great healing going on and the other tankers wading in - but it made me happy!!!
