ok....i'm startin to have a feeling that once reach a certain level, you have no choice but to do missions with others....is this true? if so, what level is pretty much the end of the line for doing missions solo?
[/ QUOTE ]
I can mostly solo some archetypes (unless I have designed the characters to concentrate on supporting roles) from 1 to 50.
Some missions may have to be on Heroic. Some Elite Bosses in specific story arcs may indeed be too tough - Nosferatu is notoriously tough to take. Teaming up, dropping the mission, or waiting to get a level or so on the enemy are the solutions that work for me.
But you can effectively solo most content at all levels. -
I tend to go one better and wait until I see it in the character creator.

Obviously, mommy and daddy never explained to you the concept of COMMUNITY and how people should look out for each other. Copyright Infringement hurts the GAME and the COMMUNITY.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even in the analog community there are citizens who disagree with a given law, whether they consider it unjust or for some other reason, and who do not support it or act cooperatively to enforce it.
They too are often exposed to the specious argument that breaking such a law harms the community, in an attempt to guilt trip them into compliance.
The bald statement that violations harm the community does not prove it (insofar as such a statement can be proven).
But go ahead and condescend to those who do not share your point of view, as it is a proven means of winning them over to your position. -
I suspect blissful lack of awareness of the rules (EULA comes up, click OK, play game) is the root issue here. The character is not a clone, hommage, or adaptation, but simply The Vision, created in CoH, right down to the Marvel Universe bio.

Ideas:
1) Ignore red email
2) open, delete, close, move on.
Anything more is a waste of emotional energy, and any further development effort a waste of code.
There are some nice-to-haves (they do not triage higher, not for me):
- A select-all, delete-all function
- Turning mail off
- If it can be done with minimal effort, email filters (allow from friends, sg, etc.) would be the Cadillac solution. -
Left over MUD/MUSH convention. When I am speaking IC, it is evident. In a modern setting game, it may not be evident when I am not unless I make an explicit reference to the game mechanic, but just as I dislike emoticons (weak substitute for clarity in writing) so do I dislike (()) and similar notions.
So if I am in an RP frame of mind I just spend an extra second or two being careful of my typing and "voice". -

What if you're up against multiple enemies with Teleport Foe?

If they port you in opposite directions at the same instant, I hear you disintegrate. -

It get me mad enough when the run in general. With a travel power Doubt anybody will go for that
[/ QUOTE ]
It is no big deal with the Tsoo with kinetics (blue ink? red ink?). No reason regular Superspeed would be different/worse.
I would certainly go for it- no reason opponents should be kept wimpy. -

My 54 year old mother does play this game, and my 55 year old dad. My dad was the one that got me into the game during CoH beta.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am several years older than your folks - so just as glad my own physical resources are not that big a concern in playing this. -

The logical exentsion of the OPs post would be:

Reductio ad absurdum is generally considered a fallacy, not a logical process. -
I toss one (SO or an IO at 35+) into snipes as it has generally proven more useful than not in getting off a snipe in the middle of a hot fight,

Haven't read this thread, I'm forced to agree with the OP. Each title should support itself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wouldn't that have the effect of preventing any new title from ever being developed? -
Remember the mechanic:
- first hit it (slottable, improvable by insps, etc.) accuracy/To hit mods all apply.
- then overcome its magnitude to port it. As far as I know based on level, and not subject to modification.
Unless it has been changed, outcomes are:
- miss. Target not aggroed.
- hit and overcome magnitude: target teleported, aggroed. May trigger aggro from others mobs near target, same as a regular attack, though this can be ameliorated by distance, stealth type powers.
- hit and fail to overcome magnitude: target not teleported, is aggroed and starts to close on you, same remarks about adds as above. -

It's all about knowing your enemy, knowing what your guy can do, and having a good feel for recharge times, damage, resistances.
Any good CoX player can figure out almost exactly what he can and cannot do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Though there is a significant rush in the "almost" part of that equation. Standing there with a pile of defeated opponents littering the ground and a sliver of health left, thinking "I didn't really expect that to work." -
As you note, no twitch skills to speak of. Some grasp of tactics, use of ground, of which pulling is the most simplistic example. Knowing what power works best in a given situation.
Game knowledge counts for a lot. Physical skills, pretty much not at all. -

This is a quote from Avatea on the EU forums with regards the upcoming paid for additional MA slots.
[ QUOTE ]
I know how strongly a lot of you feel about micro-transactions, and if I weren't part of the team I would probably feel the same way.
I want to say this though. This is our opportunity to make sure that we get enough funding for our ongoing and future development. Bear in mind that any money an NCsoft game makes serves to finance all NCsoft games, not just ours since we are not an independent game developer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry NCsoft, this may be me being selfish but if I buy a Booster pack, respec recipe, rename token or now additional MA slots I don't want that money being spent elsewhere.
[/ QUOTE ]
NCSoft is a corporation. General income from any product is allocated to whatever purpose (including just pumping up salaries for executives or dividends to stockholders) the corporation sees fit.
Customers do not really have a viable stake in trying to dictate how revenues are allocated. -
If you don't convince yourself, no one else is going to do it. If the premise of the game (superhero/villain) is not attractive, nothing is going to make it so.
-
Oooh - a dazzling riposte from so sharp a rapier wit. I swoon. No, really.

Online forms of satire/irony are notoriously tricky, but using emoticons, conventions like [sarcasm] and [/sarcasm] etc rather than the content of one's writing to convey the intent seems to me like cheating.

Yeah... not much more to add to this other than "hurr... AE babies are stupid"
[/ QUOTE ]
Not AE limited, of course, viz. the guy who faceplanted a few nights ago and stayed put asking for a wakie, in a Kings Row mission (so we were all lowish) not 50 yds from the hospital. -
On a team a few nights ago, I was myself impressed at the sheer volume of pissy remarks some players felt entitled to uncork in the direction of a player in his low 30s - all with some refrain about "at your level you should know X." How to use Ouroboros (I had just taken him through the portal and showed him the badge location), confusion between yellow and green lines, etc.
He had (it was surmised) ebayed his account, or played nothing but AE, or otherwise betrayed the CoX spirit, and the strutting little know it alls who seemed inordinately proud of knowing crap about a fraggin' game could not contain themselves on criticizing every question or hesitation.
The guy was out playing PvE action, teaming up, trying to get into the game the way (I gather) the few and the proud seem to think it should be played, but since he hadn't learned what they think he should have learned, when they think he should have learned it, he got a heaping helping of punk-[censored] posturing about his lowly station in life along with such grudging advice as came his way.
Now that behavior, unlike some of these other observations, is fraggin' SAD! -
Terrible game. I have cursed every day of the last five years that I have spenthere.
The gear mania of the Everquest/WoW model is not an issue. A limited number of craftable enhancements to powers exist, and they do not degrade.
Repetitive play may bug you.
The absence of big endgame PvE raids or PvP settings is a significant difference.
The Mission Architect where you can design your own scenarios, or play those designed by other players, may catch your attention, as it is virtually unique in MMOs. You may find it a temptation to play the xp farm du jour, and rocket a character to 50. Or you may look for stuff with actual plots, characters, etc. Ilike the latter myself, but chacun a son gout.
Main thing is to enjoy being a superhero or super villain. If that doesn't float your boat the game won't last for you. -
Sounds like a latency issue as much as anything else.
I also strongly beg leave to doubt that this is an "exploitable" bug or that we must all now police ourselves to avoid ever doing it by mistake or deliberately, as one poster seemed to suggest, -
