Probably the most wallbanging part about female models/textures and lacking any sign of muscles is that there are quite a few gloves that used the muscular male forearm textures regardless of gender.
Now this would be nice for making strong women, but it fails even at that by the simple fact that the upper arms/the rest of the body do not look at muscular, and it is just the male textures wrapped around the comparatively smaller female arms, making them look squished, distorted and disfigured. It's terrible. -
Quote:I actually concur that it feels a little bit like warshades are the oddman out.Just one more suggestion and then I'll stop posting after midnight(my brain runs on stupid after) for a while.
We have Natural epic ATs and we have a Science epic AT. The other Origins are missing out! what about a Technology Epic AT and a Mutation Epic AT and a Magic Epic AT. No idea what they'd be but it feels like Paragon Studios is missing the opportunity to have a very cool set-up by filling out the Origins with Epic ATs.
Its just my personal opinion but doesn't the Science Epic AT seem a little loney there with the other three Natural origin Epic ATs there.
But on the note of other Origin ATs:
My vote goes for a Midnighter Magic EAT, a Preat Clockwork for Tech EAT (Tier nine is becoming a super Warwalker for a few minutes! Awwww Yeah!), and-... Can't think of anything for a mutant EAT. -
Okay, so one of the complaints that often come up is the monotony of instanced mission map tiles, and one thing I noticed while playing the new Posi was that there were quite a few recycled mission maps, just with new art doodads that really breathed new life into them with simply a few props.
So what I'm thinking of is that in various locations throughout office, sewer, small caves, big caves, Cimerora caves, and warehouse sets, there'd be pseudo 'spawn points' for special props to appear based on the villain group inhabiting them.
For example, the Hellions might have a few crates of vodka bottles next to a smaller one with rags and a tank or two kerosene/gasoline in a random place, maybe one of those glowing magical boxes on a makeshift alter in another, toss in a random goathead symbol, a makeshift desk with guns on it and voila!
It now feels like you're in a Hellion hideout and not just another office, cave, warehouse, etc. etc.
The possible draw backs would be the need to not only possibly design or go through existing artworks and pick out which would fit which group, but also possibly the need to go through at least two thirds of every maptile in the game and create these miscellaneous points. Then there would be the times when looking like an established base for a villain group would not be appropriate, such as when a group is simply raiding a place, or two gangs battling eachother and programming it to choose one of the other.
But all in all, it should breath new life even into the generic instanced maps.
What do you guys think? -
Quote:It still sucks since VEATs actually get quite a lot more powers than the average AT as well, but they still get epics.Kheldians purposefully get more powers in their primary and secondary than normal in order to make up for the lack of APPs.
Notably what I would like to see in Kheldian epics, would be passives that would boost abilities of the forms and possibly a whole new form for each one (Something scrapper like for warshades and something controller like for PBs, possibly. This is partly because it's always bugged me how apparently, all Kheldians have had the same species of host.) -

well, this answers my first question, now for a second one: Is there an official thread or something to suggest to the Devs ideas for new morality missions or will an official one be set up in the suggestions and ideas board, or should we, the forumites attempt to make our own?
-
Okay, by this I don't mean the transition of rogue to hero, I mean I was running around on my main hero, asserting my morality for hero merits, and hoping to see more of the new content.
And for the third time in a row, my morality mission tip was "Turn myself over to the police to clear my name" And for the third time I had to fight silent blade (I was so bored I let her get off Elude ala McNinja), for the third time I had to fight malta, and for the third time I had to fight my own, palette swapped clone and wonder WTF just happened.
One minute he's ambushing me, out for my blood and in the company of Malta, next he says 'let's talk', then he's claiming to have been the good guy (despite working for Malta and apparently contracting silent blade to kill me), and then he vanishes, and with the way the alignment thing pops up, it looks like he poofs in a pillar of blue light.
But I digress, this is the THIRD TIME IN A ROW I've done this damn mission, and I am getting sick of it.
Also, both characters I worked towards rogue did the same mission of helping Swift Blade, so in summary, is there only ONE morality mission alignment shift? -
For my kat/SR scrapper:
Exalted (Or jumped the shark since his RP story's gone from time displaced Samurai to something like this. I'm trying to fix it...)
For my Magical Girl Archery/Energy blaster:

Quote:But remember: We're not talking about OUR United States. Or even the United States we knew of on Primal earth of City of.It is in fact. I was so sad after talking to him. The idea that the greatest experiment in freedom, plurality, and diversity this world has ever known could be destroyed made me hate Cole all the more.
We're talking about a United States that elected general MacArthur as President, a US government that heeded his words and nuked the North and South Korean borders when our own people (including one who was supposed to be our greatest hero) would still be caught in the blast as well as the people we were fighting for, a United States that authorized use of nuclear weapons on our own country!
The sad fact is, it may be possible that Cole didn't change that much at all, just who was in charge. -
It must be the work of Longbow Storm Wardens and Vigilante Storm defenders and controllers.
Man, I might be a straight hero but I gotta hand it to them, they know how to go biblical. -

Quote:Hell, if it meant piloting the Kronos, they could just give me a pistol and brawl and I'll happily fight any PC team!Screw riding a Titan, I wanna ride the Kronos!
Which is a question I asked in the Canon Fodder thread and never had answered: is the Kronos Titan a brain in a jar/a collection of brains in jars or is it piloted? I know if I were Malta I wouldn't be raiding the Pwn shop looking for Excelsior-addled brains to control my relentless machine of destruction. And piloting the Kronos could be some kind of loyalty reward. There has to be some incentive for that poor shmoe pointing a sap gun at a fully IOd, buffed to the gills 8-man team.... -
Quote:I'm not sure putting someone's brain in a super powered, army destroying robot is the best way to screw them over...Villains don't actually get to find that out though. Unless of course some Vigilante goes running through a Malta mission screaming "They're made out of people!" So maybe the Arbiter is genuinely offering to let you pilot a Zeus and leaving out some of the details just to make you go "yeah, cool! Forget this Rogue thing, gimme the giant robot!"

One of the biggest problems isn't just using vista tech to make make the zones you transition into have a low-res model in the connecting zone, but it's that in a lot of cases the next zone is NOT just on the otherside of the wall.
For some reason, when the Old Devs were laying out these city zones, they decided "HEY! Let's put these HUGE gaps between these city blocks that will be utterly featureless!" And some of these gaps are jarring.
(See this map: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/w/images//b..._%28GvE%29.jpg)
Like between Skyway, Founders', Crey's Folly, Faultline, and Talos, there's a gap that's big enough to be its own zone, not to mention the gap between IP, Steel Canyon (which the map shows as having a weird extension to it that I don't see in game), and Galaxy.
I think that there was a time when the devs had honestly considered making these placed into new zones, but those plans ended up forgotten and now we have these huge, hideous gaps between zones, and the zone they did add (Croatoa) was WAY out there from the main city. (Yet still so close to the end of IP that the whole damn thing looks like Family and Tsoo could still be fighting there)
Another problem with applying vista tech is that when you look at Praetoria, there's only one way to one zone. It's a straight path from Nova, to Imperial, to Neutropolois and back, but with Paragon, you have so many different things in different directions, and the gaps of (what's hopefully) more city between them,
I will be honest, do I like the war walls being EVERYWHERE? No, and I would love to see MOST of them go. (Hazard zones being a strong exception, and possibly make a much bigger and all encompassing wall around all of Paragon, hopefully with a more organic shape than just blocks)
Are they necessary? Sadly, yes, and we will likely NEVER see them taken down until City of Heroes 2. -
Quote:Ahhh... But it is the players choice if their minions are generic or meaningful.See, now there's a key error alot of people make; the mastermind archtype of City of Villains is not synonymous with "supersquad leader". Mastermind minions are generic, throwaway thugs. Splinter isn't a mastermind with 4 henchmen, he's a scrapper with 4 teammates. Especially true of Professor Xavier, not even close to a mastermind.
Now Shredder, Shredder is a mastermind, fielding a ton of faceless ninjas (or robot ninjas, for the spineless animation companies of the 1980s) who get swatted around by the dozen.
My ninja/storm heroic MM is a Yuki Onna with a team of ninja bodyguards (her husband is a freaking Nekomata, if you translated their powers into city of terms they'd be necromancy/illusion! and he's a good guy too), and each one of them is special and meaningful to her as even though she's their mistress, she feels there are family.
There's Basho Matsuo, a human who swore eternal service to her in exchange for granting his sister and brother-in-law safe passage through a mountain during the winter to get medicine for their daughter, despite their contract being eternal service, Kohaku still keeps the offer of retirement open for him, always. He has served her faithfully for a long time.
There's Sasuke Sarutobi, he has an amazing talent to be greviously injured by ANYTHING! (setting a high standard when he shattered every bone in his body picking up a blanket) But he's also probably even more immortal than the Tao since he's still fine. In reality he's a better diplomat, but he feels unchallenged there and prefers the excitement of bodyguard work.
Hanzo Hattori is a quiet one, says little, likes to cosplay, make plushies, and has a huge crush on Sasuke. (Is also actually a girl. She and Kohaku share many a girl moment together)
That's just the genin! Each one is cared about deeply and looked after well, Kohaku is a mistress of the ice, but cold and uncaring she is not. She is a hero of JUSTICE! -

Quote:Whoa whoa whoa whoa there.Oh I have no doubt that at $7.99 it will be the most PROFITABLE because they had to do the least amount of effort for it.
I just contend that they might have sold 3x or 4x as many of these packs if they had pegged it a $3.99 instead. *shrugs*
Now I think one of the things we need to consider is that the amount of time and work put into these emotes might now seem worth eight bucks to us, but they might seem worth eight bucks to the animation department, or the marketing department seems to think so anyway.
It's a paper thin and stupid reason, but there's your reason. -
Quote:I'll /sign this....can we at least make them look a little better and be more interesting?
Grimy concrete with rust stained drains and vents. This is OK for some zones, like the RWZ and Kings Row, but for areas like Atlas, Steel Canyon and Founders Falls, people would expect better.
Second, the walls don't look like high tech structures built fairly recently. They're flat, featureless and have no practical access points for the maintainace they must need. The cyan force field completely dominates the landscape and often clashes with the local color palette.
Specific suggestions:
-Consider having the walls look a bit cleaner than they do now in some zones.
-Consider having sections of the wall covered in ivy in zones like Founders, Steel and Atlas.
-Murals. In parts of town like Kings and Skyway, how about community murals like a lot of cities have?
-Grafitti. In the worst parts of town, one would expect more graffiti on the War Walls, especially when they're next to structures that already have a lot of graffiti.
-Consider adding model detail to make the walls look less plain and flat.
-Instead of the bright cyan energy barriers, could we instead get something a little more subdued or neutral?
.
Also, depending on the city zone and if we've "mastered the tech" in-universe, some zones might do something like have the walls change colors at night...
Though the truly mean thing would be to change them to a sky-blue JUST FOR Rikti invasions.
Dropship Captain: Infiltration team: Status Report
Infiltration: Statement of confusion: War walls already down?
Dropship Captain: Works better: for us: accelerating
Infiltration: Declarative Exclamation: TRAP!
Dropship Captain: N:OOOOOOO- *Boom!*
Like birds smashing into a window.
Okay, I doubt rikti would ever be that dumb, but the mental image amuses me. -

Quote:Actually, my theory is that their sunglasses and eye patches are not normal sunglasses or eyepatches at all, but special lenses that let them see the lasers of their laser sights while keeping them invisible to everyone else,(This is a real life trick used by militia that occasionally do use laser sights, although they normally use the lenses in scopes) thus allowing them to keep the scopes on their pistols for long ranged shots. They don't want to. Dual Pistols misses occasionally. Malta Gunslingers can hit you reliably through soft-capped defenses with guns held sideways. Even the ones with the eyepatch.
I gave my Dual Pistols guy an eyepatch in the hopes of improving his accuracy. Depth perception is for wimps.
But otherwise, you have about about why they wouldn't want to use DP. -
Quote:Oh no! this is bad!..Yes, more temp powers which're useful please. *deletes 7th power analyzer*
How could this happen?!
And yes, I will /sign this.
I want more craftable temp powers, temp powers that you can grab from various mission maps (hey, some Arachnos maps have freakin' armories), and so forth.
It would all be in an issue called: City of Heroes/villains: Locked and Loaded. -
Quote:Then you'll love my rules for RP: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted."You can turn that off you know. Their name doesn't HAVE to be hanging over their head.
This thread is actually a prime example why I very seldom roleplay. Different people follow different rules when they roleplay, and I usually don't feel like sorting out what rules the other person is playing by.
Oh wait, that's not my RP rules... -
I think a lot of people have covered most of what's essential EXCEPT...
The Mercy Island Arcs.
Okay, Kalinda is acceptable, she's a loyal Arachnos Fortunata mistress, the idea that's she'd instantly respect and revere you would be crazy.
But people choose Burke as a real chance to escape being under Arachnos' thumb, and not squashed under another's! It's even worse since Burke is a lone mercenary while at least Kalinda has all of Arachnos backing her up and she's in an Arachnos fort while Burke IS STANDING IN AN ALLY WAY WITH HIS DIRTY LAUNDRY HANGING UP OUTSIDE HIS SHANTY RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FORT!
So would it be too much to ask for him to respect me, and maybe the other mercy contacts, you know, accept that I'm apparently strong enough to do the work THEY'RE NOT DOING BECAUSE THE ONLY POWER THEY HAVE IS BRAWL?!
Oh, on the note of getting some damn respect as a villain, rework the damn Mender Tesseract SF!
I'm sorry, but I'm going back in time out of my own good will to help Lord Recluse get out from being a sewer dweller, and just because things go south due to circumstances BEYOND MY CONTROL, Lord Recluse decides to try to kill me when I'm his own chance of getting out from the sewers.
This is not at all helped by Tesseract constantly taunting me the whole damn time.
