Quote:I'm not made. I know a lot of friends who have elemental/nature themed toons, and capes and auras do seem to go underlying themes of natural origin. (Superman is technically science since it's a reaction to the yellow sun, and Starfire doesn't have a cape.)To answer some questions:
Nature Origin
It turns out that there is no Nature Origin, however, there is a Natural origin, which the updated trailer now reflects.
Testify, brother! My SG base is supposed to be set up on the southern edge near Indigo. -
Quote:And this is why nature origin goes capes but natural didn't.If I may, I'd like to quote a very wise woman...
"Do you remember Thunderhead? Tall, storm powers? Nice man, good with kids. November 15th of '58! All was well, another day saved, when... his cape snagged on a missile fin! Stratogale! April 23rd, '57! Cape caught in a jet turbine! Metaman, express elevator! Dynaguy, snagged on takeoff! Splashdown, sucked into a vortex! No capes!"
But the auras look quite nice, so I'll probably buy this when I buy a copy for Kyo's account.
We know better. (Or specifically have trouble making bio-degradable or energy capes look good).
anyway though, Paragon Studios, you are officially redeemed for the party pack. -
I've been wondering this myself.
Also, consider that Infernal still goes by his Primal name, nevermind that he's a logical nightmare, as is saying that Battle Maiden is a counter part of Valkyrie. (Different women from different worlds). -
Quote:Agreed, and in response to what Claws and Effect said to me I still have to point out: Defense isn't just something for defense based toons, as I said the odd "miss" tends to be the savior of even resistance based powersets. The endless avalanche of successful hits becomes the bane of everyone, and while you bring up defense based toons having a kryptonite, you're still forgetting FF defenders.1) The game isn't balanced around IOs, and Quartz were designed far before their introduction. You've also destroyed your own point: SR gets to be invincible (with IOs), so it needs its kryptonite...which is completely avoidable. This is not sound balance. Moreover, the game should not actively encourage people to avoid entire enemy groups, and it regularly does this through blatantly unfair mechanics.
2) My point is not about the method, but its strength. +100% ToHit completely nullifies defense. Not reduce, not trump, not challenge. Nullify. Completely eliminated. Do you really feel that the only way to challenge defense-based sets is to bypass them entirely? The Quartz buff could be significantly weaker and still be dangerous because ToHit is always a threat to defense.
Forcefield is a support set and relies strongly on teams to continue advancement. I'm not a strong advocater of nullifying the usefulness of support sets.
Anyway though, here's more own suggestion for what could be done to with Quartz:
PBAoE +20% ToHit for only a 30 feet around it, but in a massive, 100ft radius, buffs the Perception of all DE around it.
This maintains the challenge to defensed based characters through statistical probability they depend on. While they will get hit more often by a single mob, it's not a always going to hit. Rather the big problem comes from the fact that other mobs will now be likely to notice you and join into the fight. -
Quote:I can concede this, but at the same time, Quartz also negate part of willpower (RttC's -ToHit and Heightened Sense's +Def), about half of invulnerability, Half of Shield Defense, most of Energy aura and Ice Armor, all +def inspiration pops, Forcefield buffing, Arachnos Soldier ATs, Ninjutsu stalkers (since AS won't always one-shot a guardian and emitter summoning is uninterpretable and is usually the first thing they do after attacking.), hidden stalkers in general, and the list goes on. Hell, even a heavy resistance only toon might find themselves overwhelmed since misses still are natural damage mitigation of all ATs, but Quartz basically remove any possibility of missing, regardless of all defenses. Also, how exactly do you give SR a weakness without ignoring it's defense? Defense is binary, you either get hit or you don't. A softcapped SR will be nigh immortal in a large number of situations, it is perfectly fair for there to be one or two situations that will annihilate them.
Hell, quartz have caused my willpower tanker to get flattened and they've given my elec/elec tanker a lot of trouble too when her goes up against them. -
Perhaps not 'unique' and 'fully customizable' looks per-say.
But different skins just MIGHT be a possible alternative.
Problem is that they'd need to match up to existing animations and powers, and some alternate 'skin' models might not quite conceptually work.
Though the idea of being able to select a Vazhilok, Banished Pantheon, or Zombie Apocolypse Event skin for our zombies might be interesting. -
So, I just had a random thought about something to possibly help SR, at least for the possibility of a tank port: What if we've been going about it wrong? What if instead of buffing SR's ability to protect itself, what what it might need is a means of bolstering offense?
So, maybe give Evasion (or PB, or Elude, or quickness) a +ToHit buff (not sure on numbers thought), after all, Reflexes aren't just one's ability to avoid, but simply to react, this includes reacting to openings in a foe's defenses.
The only problem I see (at the present moment besides it not exactly helping with taking alpha) would be the idea of such a thing being too powerful, via slotting a Gaussian proc into it. But for that issue, simply making it either unenhanceable, or not accept ToHit buff sets.
Also, forgive this idea if it's really that bad, this sounds pretty good as I write it at 4 AM. -
Quote:I'd say that on, on primal earth, at least, it's understandable. Watching everyone you love die slowly, everything you know shift and change into something unrecognizable, unable to ever quit because, as egotistical as it might sound, the world often sets itself on your shoulders or looks to you for inspiration. Oh, and just to top it off, you see that every other version of you appears to be evil as though you're destined for it.Honestly, I have yet to be convinced that Primal Earth's Statesman isn't evil.
Sounds like a tough life.
I think even a few years of that would make my smile slip. -
I-... like this... A lot.
I think I'd role it up and play it. -
Quote:There we go.Heya folks,
Just wanted to drop in here and voice a few of my thoughts. When approached about this idea, we were immediately excited. We think that the base building community would be well served by an organized committee that focused on the communities needs, and are happy to do what we can to aid in such an endeavor.
I also think that it is best for a small group of like minded individuals to initially do much of the work in forming such a group, without seeking extensive input from the community. The reason for this is committees are not effective in getting things done initially and the early organizational efforts do not require extensive input but merely setting up the framework for later interactions.
Having said that, obtaining validation from the community that any committee purports to represent is crucial or the whole effort is in vain. Much of the discussion I've had with Turbo has regarded making sure that the community will have access to the committee and be able to participate if they are interested. That being said I believe that the intention is there and the structure is coming along well.
Looking forward to working with you folks,
The committee's formed, the best we can do now is support and hope for the best.
The Ocho agreed, don't bother him about it. -
Quote:in theory, and NDA would mean that not only should they NOT port to the forums about it, but refrain from even telling their grandmother. If I came up with a loads of ideas for issue 25 and posted them off to the devs and all of a sudden I get a PM back from devs stating we really like your ideas can we discuss this further, would I then have to post on the forums to everyone that the devs have taken note of my ideas and we are in discussion?

Quote:Well, like Tibit Jr. said, Nihilism doesn't quite feel 'comic book-y', and with it being used on the Skulls, they're at least throwaway enemies. And like I said, they do need to be may a bit more interesting. (And I wouldn't object to hellions and skulls going up to twenty if they were made interesting enough.)No reason except that the Skulls are only around for 10 levels or so, but the Council goes from 1-50. And the Skulls aren't a believable threat to the safety of the world. They basically don't have the bite to support their bark. The Council are believable as a force that could destroy the world if they were given half a chance.
But that's getting WAY off topic. I do agree that they should keep the "Ubermensch" idealism too, since it would work out with them hating mutants, and while it steps back alittle onto the toes of the Fifth Column, Nazis tend to not always need to be associated with that, they've become their own thing in people's minds.
They're Nazis, the real life example of villainous mooks (even though a number of them were good people who weren't able to argue with their country), they don't NEED an actual manifesto, as long as they invoke enough of the nazi imagery that Samuel Tow mentions, they ride out the rest of it on Rule of Cool. (Specifically, the rule of Cool that is beating Nazis) -
Quote:Well, my own thing to point out here is that the Council use astrologically themed names with the exception of the Ascendants. My own recommendations for names of this new caste would include: Nadir, Crescent, Black Hole (though this may overlap with Vortex and Voids a bit much), Zodiac (Or any of the signs of the astrological zodiac), and... something else, I'm sure.I'd also ramp up the Galaxy and Ascendants, and get a half-way step in there. I'd like it so that by lvl 40, all Council have at least basic Nictus implants and are not using traditional weapons. Like how we now have "Nebula" "Prenumbra" and "Vortex" these new soldiers would be "Shadow". They start appearing at lvl 35, and become dominant at 40.
Quote:Arachnos, however, helps by weakening those who would stand against them. Play up the Council-Arachnos link, that they began as the same organization way back in the annals of time.
As a funny note about Nihilists, I once tried to reimagine the The Skulls for an AE arc where they're revisted as a group of Nihilists to fit their "death" theme. So if any enemy group gets changed up to have nihilist philosophies, I'm going to say it should be the skulls, they need a real banner. The Hellions are Satanic Anarchists, why can't the Skulls be Necrophiliac Nihilists? -

ARGH! I didn't notice this until now! And I had a cool idea for one before this that I wanted to have the new powersets for the custom characters for! (How can she be Luminous Amber without kin melee?!)
Oh, Rise to Honor... You'll be in my heart a dev's choice... -
Quote:No, I really don't agree with it that it's a challenge. It would be a challenge if Ghost Widow had her own version of Domination that made it mag 100 and AV's were not, by default, all but immune to most debuffs. That's not the only thing Ghost Widow has an unfair advantage over. Her version of Soul Storm is mag 100, requiring 5+ tier 3 Break Free's to get out of it. PitA. Her immunity to the Ghost Slaying Axe is much like Stateman's or Mako's crashless Tier 9's. It's cheating, specifically designed to make the encounter challenging, whether you agree with the principle or not.
But that's not the point, the real question is just: "Why?" -
I'm just curious about this: Why is Ghost Widow not affected by the undead slaying temp (and vet) powers we get?
Is it a story reason? Like because there's something special about her as a ghost or maybe she's not as undead she thinks, etc. etc.
Or is it a gameplay reason like too bothersome to make multiple ghost widows who are and are not affected, to prevent a gangup of GSA vets in RV, she's a 'special AV' and that means being an exception to weaknesses of standard character, etc. etc. -
Welp, won my vote. So what can we do to help with this?
Or is it the waiting game for now? -
No, but your avatar makes you one in my eyes... Alll hail Yotsuba!
Anyway though, for my own low-hanging fruit requests...
-I'd like to see maybe getting the trees and plants from the planters without the pots or planters. (Whew, try saying that three times fast)
-That thin, tech computer without the huge platform attached
-All decorative items to be reduced in price by either 50% or to 0. (Okay that's a bit out there)
-And for something a little up there: 1x1 squares made up of the desks, only baked together, this would have the benifit of GREATLY reducing the polycount of most bases and reduce server strain. -
Quote:Well, my own experience with duplicity has been a lot of 'miss' bubbles.I actually find it most useful on scrappers, brutes, stalkers, and tankers.
Doesn't have to stack, really, to take all the minions out of the fight while I wail on the LT or Boss and they fuel my AoE Taunt Aura ability or just put them out of the fight while I placate someone and tear them a new .... nostril.
-Rachel-
As stated, I can understand why you would like it, though I still lean a bit towards Call of Justice, at least on my scrapper because it helps me feel like a bigger team contributor. -
I myself wouldn't mind any buffs for Kheldians, but I do agree that part of it is playstyle. You have to rememeber that the kheldian is your swissarmy AT, anytime you see a certain and mob and think "Damn, I wish I was on my X AT" you can go "Oh wait, i don't need to be on my X AT!", prepare yourself with a bit of strategy and move in.
But one of the problem is that you can't always do that because the power that allows you the mimic "X AT"is anemically slotted, you can't afford slotting anything else into it, or maybe the power just isn't that great on that particular AT.
Though perhaps what Kheldians need aren't damage buffs, but like mentioned, shorter form shift animation times, or possibly modified numbers in other stats, such as maybe buffing their armor modifiers to be on par with doms. (This would boost their out of the box shielding from 22.50% resistance with the base toggle shield to 25.50%)
And maybe another possible thinmg to REMOVE THE NEED for extra slots would be to boost some of the number bonuses on the alternate forms. Such as boosting the recovery rate bonus on them to 20%.
So khelds have problems, maybe, and there's a lot of eways they could be brought up to a stronger par with others, so slots can be an answer, but not the only answer.
In reality, I think Warshades are fine but Peacebringers are the ones hurting the most, sacrificing the stronger controls, utilities, and debuffs of a warshade for... raw attacks that often aren't even so damaging. -
Quote:Ahhhh! I'm sorry, it's just that whenever we talk about zone revamps, my default thinking includes visual face-lifts to the buildings too. That still makes no sense.
New Zone; Need to build it from the ground up, add contacts, content, etc
Revamped Zone; Zone already exists, no need to change it, add in contacts and storyline.
I don't mean 'revamp it all and change every last little bit of the map'. Dark Astoria is a prime example; that place has so much character, it's one of the few zones I actually find rather creepy. Yet theres no contacts there, no trainer, nothing. Theres essentially no point to it even existing, at all. It's a waste of space, as it is now.
So why not use it? Theres no good reason not to.
This is namely because Paragon City was supposed to be a city of Art-Deco buildings, but because of graphical limitations, it looks more like Architectural Brutalism.
In my dreams I see Paragon and the Rogue Isles having thier respective, under-lying architectural themes realized with additional themes based on the area/zone.
But all in all, it would mean a lot of Paragon would look like pre-fall Rapture from the Bioshock games, though zones like Galaxy City, Founders' Falls, and Atlas would have a slightly different approach (Googie, American Imperial, and Neo-classical respectively).
But that's my own personal opinion, and I'd be just as happy to see contact changes and mission fixes with modern mission tech.
Hey, I didn't say I agreed with that logic, just telling you why it might be. now lemme help ya reboot and git'cha back on yer pistons an' shock absorbers, son. -

"I hate you..."
"Don't challenge the big boys, Console, you'll only make yourself cry." -
I agree with Techbot but just a few things as to why the devs may not feel the same:
Quote:Because zones are a lot more resource intensive than added numbers and correcting mistakes that weren't supposed to be there in the first place. And I just find the last part so intrinsically flawed because...well...surely if something is being ignored it should be fixed? Graphical bugs get fixed, powerset suck-points get buffed and tweaked...why are old zones any different?
Quote:I'll say it again.
Why, other than from a perspective point of view, are 'New Shinies!' touted as being better than getting rid of old junk and replacing it with something high quality, using all the current day tech?
(why do you think there are a billion and a half-versions of what demons, vampires, elves, and other beings can and cannot do?) -
Quote:I know i'll give it a chance. Our intention was not to make anyone mad. This is not the first time someone has tried to carry this torch only for it to be dropped, then picked up again and rinse and repeat.
Turbo has gone further than anyone. If we dont support him then, if we remain on opposing sides fighting for the same cause, then yes nothing will get done.
Do we want to continue to be ignored or will we give this idea a chance?
