actually, NPC teleportation doesn't need line of sight, remember? The ONLY thing that restricts it is going up inclined floors.

Though I will not /sign this.
I will say that in the OP's defense, we DO have an invisible ceiling to swing from.
you know, the one that keeps us from going higher than the war walls or certain sky scrappers? The one that's doesn't actually exist, given that the Talos Island mayhem says the Arachnos Flier simply flies right over the war wall with no opposition. (Seriously, what the hell are those war walls doing besides sucking power when the Rikti can teleport in anywhere or simply fly over them?) -
Just a (moderately, possibly horribly complicated, since I don't know the coding for AE powers) suggestion for Mission Architect critter editting: Give us the power sets for the Epic Archetypes.
I figure the VEATS could probably be broken down into multiple sets (For wolf, bane, crab, fort, and night.) of the branching primaries and secondaries.
I figure for Khelds, we can just have the primaries and secondaries with the AE versions lacking the form shifts. (since we have Dwarfs and novas as standard bosses anyway)
This should work, right? -
Quote:I think we might have some copyright issues there. Why stop at the music? Let's just set up giant projectors in the dance clubs and play TRON: Legacy on loop.
would be cool if we could get some artists to make some nice music for Pocket D and Studio 55 to cycle through than just repeating the same one minute track over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. -

Funny this should be brought up.
there's actually a Vanguard Insurance company here in SoCal. -
Rikti 1 - Guard duty: Lacks honor
Rikti 2 - Profound realization: you complain -
Quote:I thought that (toy maker villain) was Clockwork King? Though I kind of see what you mean. His soldiers look like tin Soldiers, and he started out as a toy maker. But then there's also Praetoria, as I mentioned. Sure, the 'evil alternate universe' is a staple in super hero comic books, but going as deep as we have with it, it hardly fits that anymore, and now it's a Bright and Shiny, Cyberpunk, Dystopia. As for the rant about Steampunk Nemesis. He looked more along the lines of CoH's version of a toy making villain to me.
I've also said in other posts, I want to see more villains in tights and looking the part of costumed villain and less "We're mercs!" or "We're magicy and demony!" enemies.
And about the only problem is that tights tend to be reserved for the elite in most comic books, if I recall. The Arch-villains at the heads of their organizations. Generally, in superhero comic books, as I recall, the tighter the guy or girl's outfit, the higher up they were.
Though I do see the point there too. I mean, besides Longbow, it might be nice to see the Outcasts get updated and maybe have a new leader take charge after the Hollows arcs (my vote for someone who uses electricity and stone in some forms as a contrast to Frostfire) and maybe we end up seeing some of the higher ups start donning tights, either as they, themselves dreamed of being a hero (or a truly great villain than a lackey) and have turned themselves into a warped parody of their own dreams. -
Quote:SO THAT explains why they're in the future ouro. apparently, cole wants to save Praetoria from needing to grind Ouro flashbacks.Apparently the tentacles are not from Hami... It's the deja vu monster!
...
It's effects are felt most on the forums.
or doesn't want people to ouro-flashback dead contacts back to life and constantly flip flop between loyalist and Resistance. -
WARNING: RANT AHEAD
Quote:I'm not sure the genre argument can be brought up here. The only thing that seems to truly define the concept of 'super hero' is that they're usually set in a modern or near modern time setting. After that, it seems it's all free game.I said superhero genre, not comics genre. If it was comics genre, I'd be asking for a lot more manga style pieces, and really in that category, anything can go, as they have comics of everything.
I mean, it's even broken in-game already. Sure Nemesis fills the Niche of the 'immortal-chess master-genius-super villain', but making him a steampunk seemed pretty arbitrary. Using older look soldier uniforms, sure, but an absolute refusal to use anything not steam-powered (Like how they have NO quantum gunners and only contract Void Hunters) that's magically superior to conventional tech and is still able to produce force fields, jet engines, portal tech, etc. etc.? Now you're just BSing me, original devs. (And I don't mean broadsword. Though secretly, I suspect Nemesis of cheating and only using steampunk aesthetics. After all, Nuclear reactors technically work on steam.)
but you know what? In the Super Hero comic book genre, no one bats an eye at that sort of thing, this is because the Super hero genre is extremely diverse and dynamic, and always adapting and being inspired by different genres.
Sci-fi and fantasy being the major ones, but even then you get shades of grey within genre. (And hey! what do you know? Praetoria is kind of a Shades of Grey of the Genre! I mean it's a bright, cyber-punk-dystopia!) -

Quote:Well, if you're a REALLY repulsive guy stroking them, it'll be the perfect gambit!Wouldn't stroking criminals just encourage them? Like if they does something bad, patting them on the head or hugging them might make them think it was ok to do it again.
They'll be so grossed out they'll attempt to take legal action to get rid of you, but instead they'll end up in jail! (Though they'll be happy anyway since they won't have to be stroked by you.) -
Maybe not "blaster" nuke, exactly. But I BUILT my ice/dark Corr around a tar patch, aim, ice storm, and Blizzard combo as an initial concept.
and you know what? I still use that combo regularly, solo and teamed.
This works especially well since he can stun, fear, and hold foes to keep them in the nuke area.
The REAL problem with most blaster nukes is that they're PBAoE (forcing you into melee), and the leave you mostly helpless in melee, and quite a few fail to do quite as impressive levels of damage,* as say Blizzard or even rain of arrows.
Though the former aspect is mitigated by the fact that most tend to have high KB components.
*This is spoken from the perspective of someone who's only personal experience with those PBAoE nukes has been staring at mids and a defender with energy blast. -
Quote:Well, the All Things Art: Building Edition seems to show there's good support. In the end, I think there are those of us that are suggesting that they focus their resources in different areas now (or soon). They likely set priorities based on percieved need. How many of us would rather they set priorities on updates rather than new? I started this thread to find that out and hopefully to show the devs how we feel.
But for the sake of the record, revamping and updating old zones is a project that has my vote. -
I can understand that. I mean in my mind, about the only type of action figures that would be worthy of City of (and various other franchises) would be Figma, Revlotech, or something like a Gundam model kit. At least for mechanical designs. (Hey, kids, wouldn't you want a Perfect Grade IDF Warwalker model kit?)

Positron, you're not going to torment Nobel Savage with them, are you? -
Quote:Considering that even the Warden Resistance path involves getting a lot of blood on your hands and not even the worst you do in any of the Loyalist paths compare with the Par Course of the Crusader story-line... I'd say the choice still holds interest.I'm hoping they push the threat of hamidon even further. The loyalist vs resistance dynamic is much more interesting when choosing resistance also means you choose to allow hamidon, something that literally killed over 90% of the human population, to run around unchecked in human settlements.
As it is, you only find out what a danger hamidon is if you actually read mission text. As a result there were tons of people on the beta boards talking about how there was no hamidon threat.
I think it would be pretty cool if there was a second tutorial mission involving hamidon, something that lets you see what a danger it is. That would make the resistance vs loyalist choice a bit more interesting, I think. -
Quote:Somewhat making this worse is the fact that all click-based mez protections are for defense based sets, so at higher levels and difficulties with more enemies that would create a stacking mez effect... You're not even getting touched by most mezzes in the first place....what? The only time I get mezzed through single application of PB is from Reichsman, Ghost Widow, and other mezzes that are too big to resist without tons of break frees or stacked CMs. Heck, that's about the only time any of my Scrappers get mezzed with the sole exception of my /Fire Scrapper getting held in Malta gas patches, but that was largely due to being a level 19 SKed Scrapper, so the mez protection at that level was probably a mere mag 4.
And lower level toons are more worried about their one application of PB ending before it cycles back, not whether it's double stacked. Until SOs anyway.
Quote:In my experience, that's the last thing that's going to save me if my end is drained. And if it drops while your end is drained, you need ten endurance instead of one just to get your protection back. Not to mention, if it is a toggle and it gets shut off, there's always the break frees everyone else uses.
The elude crash scenario might have been the logic behind making /nin and /sr mez protects toggles, I'm not sure about Active Defense though, but basically a scenario which let you keep your mez protection even through tier nine crashes. (And possible also from back when getting mezzed shut down ALL toggles)
Now personally, aside from lacking quickness to make it easier to stack/perma, i've yet to have a problem with Active Defense and such, though this might be because my main toon that uses it is an SS tanker, and thus has no problem with being rooted and lacks a decent attack chain. -
Quote:The thing is... Because of how customizable our appearance is in-game, as well as those of other NPCs, there's really not much a point to something like action figures. I suppose we could use some NPCs, which only only serve to remind players what they CAN'T MAKE. (Like the four villains on the CoV box)Wonder how much lead paint is in those suckers, lol.
Hate to use bad words like 'Warcraft'. But it would be nice if CoX ever managed to market this game like they manage their merchandice. Statesman figurines, collector cards, w/e. Then have it all available online.
I think City of is something that would do better with things like posters, t-shirts, and little key finders that make the glowie hum (as per-a steelclaw suggestion. Or was it Moo?).
On second thought though: maybe Gundam-esque model kits of various robots from in-game might be cool, but it might become a bit mis-leading as to what this game's about. -
While not a case of the numbers being wrong, Tough and the Defender APP version of Temp Invul claim that both powers give damage resistance against all types. (Which would be cool for Tough, but even I'd admit that 30% out-of-the-box resist to all damage types for one toggle would be a bit hax, even though defenders could need it.)

Quote:To make it even more interesting: it is believed that you will only have enough Dakka when the entire universe is a bunch of guns.To be perfectly fair, the reason Orks need more dakka is because they can't shoot worth a damn in the first place. They use the 'spray & pray' strategy of long-ranged combat, but they have to pray really hard.
Hell, if you dismantle an Ork firearm, you'd find that it is physically impossible for it to even shoot anything. The only reason their guns function on the minimal level they're at is because the Orks believe it should work, and therefore it does.
But then you will likely only have enough ammo to fire once, and even then, fire are what?
Almost zen, isn't it? -
I'm gonna admit, Castle, I'm gonna miss you.
Especially if your successors prove to be like BAB's... (Oh god, Rain of bullets... They had to copy the DUMBEST thing from WANTED...)
But, good luck and take care. Hope to see ya around in game some time.
I roam pinnacle, mostly.
Hey hey hey hey! Be careful! I use fitness as it is pretty well! That movement speed protection keeps me safe from BCUs and Knives of Caltrops. -

Quote:I'll go get my Needlers.Powered armor.
Zombie meteors.
Giant Tentacle beasts.
Scary Dogmatic aliens.
So what can we conclude from all this? Well obviously, Hamidon used to be a Forerunner, he has now turned himself in the Gravemind, scared off the Rikti who were really members of the covenant which is why they did not invade Praetoria, and Positron and Antimatter are obviously Spartans who hunt members of the flood!
CITY OF HEROES HAS BEEN THE HALO MMO THIS ENTIRE TIME!!!
Now for my own crazy theory...
Praetoria is in the same setting as Assassin's Creed. Hamidon and Cole both have Pieces of Eden (which are the TRUE source of this 'Incarnate' business, certain pieces just lets the Ones Who Came Before take control of their users) and (most of) Cole's people are actually all Templars.
Now here's the real kicker: Most of the Resistance are ALSO Templars. Assassins are scattered throughout and between the different factions.
Which one is an Assassin? That's just part of the game.
