  1. I want to voice right now that I had been looking forward to this pack sooo much I bought it immediately...
I then saw what all we ended up with and slowly came to feel the buyer's remorse, this is honestly the first time I've been disappointed with a purchase.
  2. I wish I had remembered we could preview pieces without buying them... Seeing how much is missing from the CoT costume set has resulted in me with a sevre case of the buyer's remorse...
  3. okay, I didn't see this on the Freedom FAQ (at least on the tab about premium players) but my brother is among the number of returning players in the Premium bracket and has an old base.
He's returned to find he is unable to pay for it's rent or even enter.
I just want to know: Are what are the abilities of a Premium player character in relation to their bases? I know they cannot form new SGs and only join, is this why he is unable to pay or enter his base? Will he be able to edit it?

And that Tactics includes both perception bonuses and confuse protection.

And that the developers have never, ever indicated, in word or in deed, that there is any toy that they will not take back from you if they think it would make for an interesting challenge.

And that the intrinsically binary nature of such effects as mez, stealth, perception, and many others is indeed a design issue with City of Heroes, and this has also been true from the start.

But mostly, that inspirations are cheap and plentiful and, unlike IOs, they are considered fair game for balancing standard content.

(If I were to make a complaint about the Resistance pulsing stealth and confuse auras, it wouldn't be about how impossibly difficult they are, but how uninteresting a problem they present. When the problem is stealth, the solution is colored yellow, and when the problem is mez, the solution is colored pastel purple. Be surprised by it once, then purchase the right consumables for a trivial fee and return to play as normal. But that problem is at a deeper level, and is not a faction design issue.)
I myself still have to side with others to say this isn't right.
I should note that my main is a katana/SR scrapper with tactics, so for him, the mission is actually pretty easy because he can see through their stealth and it's next to impossible to confuse him.

I say it isn't right on behalf of other players and because the Mindwash aura doesn't make sense: is this supposed to imply that our characters have failed the BAF trial BEFORE THE TRIAL WAS EVEN RELEASED? Or has the entire Resistance already been subjected by level 50?

If this is not the case, they need to consider at least removing mindwash aura, and for god's sakes, do something about the insane defense bonuses their supposedly unreliable stealth gives or lower the stealth level.

Lots and lots of spread sheets.

    They're Epaulets not pauldrons.

Also, I've always felt the Witch's hat should be unlocked by doing the Darrin Wade arc, you could just tack on some dialogue at the very end where Darrin's like: "By the way, this arrived in the mail for you, something about 'the Cabal showing their gratitude' does this mean anything to you because I don't get it."

Admittedly, with how many meteors hit buildings with people likely inside, it's surprising they don't have more dead bodies to work with.
  9. Randomly felt I should repost some ideas I proposed for alternate judgement animations from the beta boards before they're taken down:

    Quote:
Well, if we worked current judgements with existing weapons, I have a few animation ideas.

Katana/ninja blade/broadsword: You raise your weapon over your head and energy gathers into it (possibly briefly giving it an elemental aura of the appropriate power) and swing it down it a powerful arc.
Void Alt: Weapon is instead stabbed into the ground

Battleaxe/War mace/Titan weapon(???): You raise your weapon over your head, and energy gathers into it (Also possibly gaining an elemental aura) and slam it into the ground.

Claws/Dual Blades: You reel back, your arms crossing before performing a powerful cross slash with both weapons, the apex of the arc or elemental energy releases the blast.
Void Alt: PBAoE effects of both powersets used, but in this version Void colored trails trace the movements of your character's hands.

Beam Rifle/Assault Rifle: "Incarnate" energy is drawn into your gun and the weapon is fired.
Void Alt: the weapon is fired by a void colored muzzle flash consumes the area you're in, a transparent pillar of 'void' briefly envelopes area of effect.

Archery: Similar to the rifles but you actually get an arrow of ice/lightning/fire
Void Alt: Energy consolidates into an arrow of void that's quickly fired straight up, but comes down as hail of void arrows that seem to 'leak' into the void vortex focus of the caster.

Dual Pistols: energy is drawn into one pistol as the Executioner's shot (alt animation: the tier one DP power when used to draw the weapons)*
Cryonic Alt: Energy gathers into the guns and a much faster version of Empty Clips plays with icy bullets everywhere
Void Alt: Energy gathers into the pistols and Hail of Bullets animation plays, except it doesn't quite. Instead your character stands still while the 'after images' do all the firing and 'void' bullets fly.

*I kind of like the idea of the pistols gaining no elemental aura for this to make the destructive power feel understated, like the Noisy Cricket from the Men in Black movie, also to serve as a sharp contrast to DP's normally flashy animations.

the minor thing that does feel breaking is how Ghal's handgun entire clip's worth of handgun rounds did nothing to the Shivans while any player using dual pistols can two shot a shivan (and since this it likely before getting dual wield, assuming you didn't pick it first, the "two shot" part is literal).

    But that's just nitpicking.
For those who'd like a happy ending, just pretend your hero swoops in and lends the good detective a hand, otherwise what good is your character?

But I do agree we need more gun sets. I've got a good handful of ideas for a shotgun set and a rifle set.
  12. But without the hats, how can I make my Oranbegan Knight costume? In case you haven't noticed, the Spectral Knights (who can be assumed to be the dead soldier caste of Oranbega) use the tall hats!
  13. All of them, everything.
I want those hats, I want the shoulders, I want the capes, the tights, the skirts, the pointy back things, the belts, ALL OF IT! EVERYTHING! MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

And then add the PC perspective into the mix...

    PC perspective:
You are The Hero, Twinshot's the Lancer, Proton is still the smart guy, Dillo is the Big guy, Flambeaux is the Dark Chick (though this is only with meta-knowledge of where he actions lead her), and Grym is the Sixth Ranger.

They'll be just fine. (The old tutorials handled this so much better: There was your first contact, patiently waiting for you to get your act together, and you could begin whenever you were ready, no pressure.
*gasp!* How alien and incomprehensible this must sound to you but NOT EVERYONE SPENDS THE FIRST TEN MINUTES IN-GAME SETTING UP THEIR KEYBINDS, ESPECIALLY IF THEY'RE NEW TO THE GAME AND HAVE NO GLOBAL CHAT CHANNELS TO PUT UP, UNLIKELY TO HAVE PARAGON REWARDS, OR ANYMORE THAN HALF A TRAY'S WORTH OF POWERS!

Seriously, I've got global channel tab setups I need to do and powers to arrange, and even I'm not moaning about this.

Don't like that you have to spend time setting up and missing out on the action?

Or here's another, alien and out there suggestion: go and play the tutorial and wait on setup until AFTER you're out of the tutorial.
  16. Agreed, I also want to point out the gross lack of claws or bows for archery.
  17. I think the reason you don't get any closure is because the First Ward isn't that kind of zone.
It's not a zone where you get closure, much less a happy ending. The First Ward is the first missions a Native Primal would be able to take in Praetoria canonically, and for Praetorians, this is either your chance to return or find yourself casted out from the wonder of Praetoria proper and into where anything that's considered a rising threat to Cole goes.
You're at a level range where you're becoming a heavy hitter, one of the big boys, but the First Ward is meant to remind you that in the end, at this stage, you are still but a leaf on the wind, helpless and unable to help against forces much greater than yourself, and with how even Diabolique and Mother Mayhem's Seers seem to only have minimal effect, it shows that even level fifties are simply trying to stop only to get rolled under the wheel of inevitability.

In summary, I tend to look at the First Ward as sort of a warning to characters who might not think Praetoria is half-bad as a: "Behold the inevitable fate of this world and despair."
  18. Ha ha ha ha ha!
Silly, you think the Devs care about bases!

  20. I'm just curious, does Beam Rifle unlock for custom critters in AE when you buy it or is it not out yet?
  21. This is probably my one gripe about the whole Galaxy City thing: the fact that it looks scarely anything like Galaxy city, leading to a bit of a problem with revamping a place and destroying it in the same instance.
I briefly wondered, after my second run through, if Galaxy city really was being destroyed or if the freedom phalanx, Arachnos, and everyone else was playing a prank on me and at the end of the tutorial they'd all jump out and say: "GOT'CHA!"
I mean as you showed, there's no sign of the hospital, no sign of Freedom plaza, no sign of the AE building, no sign of the Arena, and given that Galaxy Girl's statue is actually a generic one that you can find dozens of others scattered throughout the city, not to mention Galaxy alone, it does make me question if that's supposed to be Galaxy Girl's statue in the background too.

Though your joke about Shivans moving buildings it pretty funny.

Yes you are. You're /regen, you don't have any psi damage resist outside of procs and set bonuses.
Even then you wouldn't have a lot.
What you mean to say is that you are PROTECTED against MOST STATUS EFFECTS.
I know it can be confusing, but there's three powersets that can deal psionic damage without being control sets.

If possible, claiming the enhancement could award the Knowledgeable badge.

The old tutorial gave a pair of damage training enhancements, but adding in an explanation about combining might be bit much in comparison to the pace of the rest of the new tutorial. So a single level 5 damage training enhancement would probably be simplest.

Anyone else think the store in the tutorial would be better if it actually gave your character something useful and taught you to use a feature other than (just) the store?
Not a bad idea, just one problem: You can't claim email until you're a certain level if I recall. Furthermore, I don't think freebies have access to email.
  24. there were also a trio of dual pistol customizations back in open beta.
They only worked for masterminds though.
  25. beautifully done.
Admittedly, I still think my absolute favorite was Going Rogue, but this one was definitely a very close second.

Though I do wonder if it'll be easier or harder to do some of these trailers with updates coming smaller and more frequent.

(If I could, I would probably make a street justice trailer when it launches that uses lots and lots of retro fighting game sound effects... >.>)
