Well I can understand your overall logic, that strikes me as somewhat flawed by design.

Okay, let's say we can have shirts that aren't tucked into our pants, but they're gated, but that should be okay, right? We have plenty of shirts that are tucked in but shirts none-the-less. What if I'd like a backpack of some sort, any sort on my toon? All backpacks to date are gated.

I think I've gotten some good enough points that I'm gonna stop here before I go off into one of my tangents. But do you understand Bosstone? Does this make any sense? And I don't mean to come off as rude, I'm just saying that it's kind of-... not right to say "well you have a millions of other pieces."

I speak partly from experience with my Samurai character Akuma Ryu. I hadn't been playing long enough to get him his samurai armor and he ended up feeling incomplete, this was not helped by the fact that the hakama- I'm sorry, Japanese pants we have in game look nary like actual Hakama, the martial arts 1 robe top hangs out and has no tucked in option (making my noble blooded samurai look like a GOD DAMN SLOB), without the samurai pack men have no Japanese style sandals, and it goes on.

Admittedly, I did have to grit my teeth and accept my samurai character would look more like a crappy anime bishonen than a proper Feudal Warrior of Noble Blood. But was it really okay? To be honest, not really, and the lack of various Japanese costume pieces like haori, proper samurai topknots, decent Japanese pants, or tucked in robes still grates me a little.

Okay, NOW I've gone off on a tangent.

Well I don't mind that being A REASON for Co-op, but I think in the future I'd like villains to be willing to work with heroes for much more personal reasons, here's how I'd see it:

Villains: Hey, Rularuu, I'm going to help you/try to mooch your cosmic power from you!
    Rularuu: You're small time
And Rularuu pulls some cheap trick to one-shot us or just in general attempt to murder the villains.
    Villains: NO U!
And then Villains go off to kick Rularuu's butt.
  3. Now, to be honest, given how vast the Shard is both in lore and in the actual game, part of me opposes making the Shadow Shard coop just because there's so many other places that could be explored that hasn't been. Like the Garden of Memories of Uuralur the Mirror, the Cube Factories of the What's-His-Name the Slave Master, and so on.

And instead of a regular firebase, whatever organization lets villains into the Shard should TOTALLY have an enormous Airborne Aircraft Carrier, with Lambda sector turrets that fire awesome death beams at approaching swarms of natterlings, wisps, and observers.

Plus, we could have not one, but TWO side exclusive Incarnate content areas, possibly coming to a head with a special PVP zone that discards all semblance of balance and lets players fight with their full incarnate shifts and powers.

That seems to be a big flipflop right there. I mean the descriptions for IDF commanders mention them being genetically modified, I think some arcs hint them being clones, and the trainer in the First Ward seems to suggest they're fairly normal humans in powered suits.

Not quite, GG. You'll notice that even if the skintones match, the powers do not.

I kind of would like to see Lt. tier wardens with some super powers and maybe some of the basic minions to pick up the beamrifle or the robotics pulse rifle.

I know a lot of people, myself included to some degree, have wanted to see a more super villain/hero generic group and I can't help but think Longbow might make a good shoe-in, they've already got the tights and the attitude.

Well he's kind of trying to summon Rularuu, and frankly, I've been wanting to kick his *** for a long time.

But ultimately, I also hope that Darrin Wade does a genuine betrayal to the the villains by the end of arc 5 or 6, so it's more than just "He's going to destroy the world, you have to stop him because you live there too" but more of "That @#$%er backstabbed me when I had done so much to help him! HE'S DEAD!"

And it has to be a REALLY nasty betrayal, like maybe he tries to steal YOUR power too and you have to spend a small part of a mission with little more than brawl and inherent fitness.
  9. You're all wrong, Zombie Man!

That's a Dryad, not an Elf.
  10. Actually, I think I know the reason:

It's implied in the updated Ouroboros introduction arcs that the Shivan attack on Galaxy was NOT part of the original timeline. The echo is basically a 'save file' of the original timeline, they're hoping to study it and find out what went wrong (or possibly even right) and maybe, when they get the timeline fixed, 'patch' the old Galaxy back into the primary timeline.

The ultimate goal of the menders is possibly to fix the timeline in such a way that either they never had to exist or there's next to no evidence they ever did.

As I mentioned in my previous post: the better question is WHERE THE HELL WAS PUBLIC HOVER-TECH BEFORE? I mean seriously, is this a world of super powers or is it Modern San Jose with people who happen to like wearing tights and throwing fire?

Given that this IS a world where Super powers have existed in force since the 1930's and even further back (I.E. the Circle of Thorns, Arachnos, Kheldians) it's a better question to ask why aren't there MORE hoverboards and cars, why are steel canyon's skyscrappers not reaching into the upper atmosphere, or why there are so few cool things like buildings that double as gardens?

Another is that the cutscene for the Keyes Trial has him addressing the league about the other Incarnate trials they've done previously, whether or not they actually have. Is he just a big conclusion-jumper? (I decided to be kind.)
On point one and two, I'd say that that's been the case since ouroboros was introduced with newsies shouting about it.

On the second point, I'd say that's more of a minor continuity error, and given the difficulty of the keyes trial, it was expected you needed to have done some of the previous ones first. That, however, has changed a bit.

I personally kind of liked it since it did feel like we were making actual progress.

Another interesting example of the way he makes his movies is that even when filming had started on A New Hope, Obi-Wan wasn't meant to die - his death was only written in later because Lucas wanted to add more drama to the rescue, and to avoid having Obi-Wan end up with nothing to do during the final fight in the same way that Leia's role is less important after the rescue - but the death was shot in a way that could also allow for a backtrack in any sequels - so I guess we could have ened up with Force teleporting instead of Force ghosts
one of Lucas's original ideas for the Yoda training was apparently to have Obi Wan prove to Luke Yoda was a great Jedi master by having a lightsaber dual with him... somehow. But apparently one of the ideas was for Yoda to fight... Well, how we saw him in Attack of the Clones.
  15. Some interesting plot threads are mentioned in the old lore, such as the implication that Pandora's box was first opened back in ancient Babylon, possibly even implying Gilgamesh was the first Incarnate.

@#$% Prometheus, I want my god king to be guiding my through iTrials, and to be honest, when Prometheus talks down to me, it's annoying, with Gilgamesh, it's understandable given who he was. Besides, if he gets uppity I can just ask him "How's Enkidu?"

She doesn't necessarily have to agree with Lord Recluse's decisions, but as she is bound to Arachnos, and he is the head of Arachnos, she obeys. It was never said (and would be highly unrealistic to think) that she had the exact same views on the goals, objectives and future well-being of the organization as Lord Recluse did when she was alive, and as you mentioned, the dead cannot change, so she would still have those differing views now.

*Though that's highly unlikely given the amount of work that would be required to overhaul THE major 1-50 faction for the villain game. Just sayin.

Edit: It could make for a decent bit of content too. You could have a power struggle after Recluse dies, with the Patrons fighting among themselves (Moreso than they do currently) to claim ultimate leadership. With various outside groups doing their best to manipulate the situation for their own gain.

Scirocco would probably just throw in with GW if she batted her vacant little eyes at him. Which could ultimately be the deciding factor leading to her winning power. He would, of course try to manipulate her into moving the organization towards the "good" cause he's all anti-villain/tragic villain/Emo or whatever, but of course he'd fail.
Actually, it's pretty well established Ghost Widow's loyalty to Arachnos does not equal loyalty to Recluse. When she finds out Lord Recluse basically destroys Arachnos along with the rest of the world at the end of the Time and time again arc, she helps you just as willingly as any other patron.

And Scirocco would probably not even need batted eyelashes, he doesn't strike me as too happy with how Mako and Black Scorpion are. At most he might take this as a chance to just leave Arachnos.

Of course, letting Aurora-Psyche take over Tilman's body is out of the question, but locking it up inside Tilman's mind is no solution either.
    NOPE.avi

Read the souvenir you got at the end of the arc. Malaise didn't want to really help the Aurora-Psyche, he simply wanted to destroy the real Sister Psyche and replace her with something insane and evil because he wanted glory as an ARTIST than a superhero/villain. He also would not have let the situation end without his death, one way or another because that's part of how he was hoping it would go, he was hoping as an artist death would make him immortal.

In the end, Malaise was definitely far gone, anything and everything he did was a personal quest for glory and to be recognized.

    SSA4 and Johnny

What I wonder is why the Dirge is even around.
In the first Mercedes Sheldon arc heroside IT GETS DESTROYED unless Darrin Wade made pirated copies... which leads to the funny thought of Arachnos busting his *** for music piracy.

Executioner Jenkins: Making illegal music copies? You make me sick. I bet you'd download a car if you could.
    Darrin Wade: DOWN WITH SOPA!

    Revamping NPCs

So, I decided to take a crack at redesigning two NPCs and weighed pros and cons in my head: First up we have Back Alley Brawler

Among the first things is that I gave him a bit of grey hair since he'd be the first to say he's getting on in his years, another thing I did was gave him a vest and such to try to distinguish him from Marauder's appearance. In my mind, Marauder's look conveys wasteland savagery, Back Alley Brawler's should convey street wisdom/savvy/justice. I also kind of used the "camo" pants and work boots to echo a bit with paragon's street gangs. He wasn't one of them, but probably could have easily been mistaken for one.

The draw back of this is that I think even if I could have given him his piston gloves THIS DOES NOT LOOK LIKE BACK ALLEY BRAWLER AT ALL. The only similarities I see in this are: huge black dude with sunglasses and it stops there.

And next we have my (Poor) attempt at redesigning Sister Psyche

I felt that given she's a crime fighter in New England, she might wanna dress a bit more weather appropriately, I gave her tights but couldn't keep the pattern partly because it didn't feel very "psychic" to me. Unfortunately, what we have as examples of psychics are Mother Mayhem, Aurora, Seers, Fortunata, Syndicate, Carnival, Clockwork, Malaise, Penelope Yin and classic Sister Psyche. The fashion choices of each one is incredibly broad, and the best I could see was some flowing article of clothing. I also added a sort of blinder with a 'psychic power' colored aura to the eyes. She's supposed to be the world's most powerful psychic, so I kind of thought the idea of giving her something that suggests that such power is only barely contained (even if her actual control is pretty damn strong)

The problems with this is that I was apparently schizophrenic with the design, unable to settle between a golden age outfit and more modern one, and like Back Alley Brawler, this really looks nothing like the actual character we have besides a few passing traits. This also doesn't fix her lack of any unique pieces.

Steel Shaman hits the nail on the head. It seems you have yet to be fully blinded by the rage of the forums.

Now to give some of my own input on how I think this sort of thing could be improved/how I would have gone about it:

I would fill trials to the brim with nothing stronger than minions. The idea being that your team is an unstoppable cosmic force ripping apart the IDF.

What balances this? AV teams, multiple GMs, and the odd Mega-AV (or Reichsman class).

But fighting those guys would be a more incremental thing. BAF, for it's length, gives a good feel about what it would be like, laser turrets aside: Crushing IDF, kick an AV's butt, beat up more waves of people (or the special mechanic segment), another AV, then AV tag team. There could be small variations, like instead of just fighting two AVs needing to be defeated together, Cole actually throws his own league at yours. (They let off their destiny powers, summon their lore pets, call down judgements, smack you with interface debuffs and DoTs, the idea is that these guys would be a mirror match)

Of course another problem about how hard it is to balance easy and challenge in this game is due to how AVs work in this game.

As Yahtzee: "A boss should be a final exam of everything we've learned up to that point in the game. Not just a standard mook whose downed a couple of protein bars."

And stopping here before I go off on a tangent.
  21. Actually, wanna know how to make it still a challenge?

Make all the regular citizens level 5 just like they are in Praetoria.

The danger comes not from them attacking you, but the fact that even damage auras can one-shot them. Hell, looking at them too hard would likely hurt them.

In all seriousness, it seems only SLIGHTLY odd that a character can take several lasers, plasma blasts and rockets to the face, but Gods above forbid if an angry civilian throws a rock at him! WE'RE NOT TRAINED FOR THIS!

What's funny is that a common reply seems to be "It's the -Def debuffs"

... Well, yeah but .. that doesn't change the fact that it's a ROCK

Not a grenade, or missile or even a nuke. It's a rock. And no amount of Well Juice will make it anything other than a rock (Unless they could throw them at supersonic speeds)
it's defense ONLY right? Because if it's res (whil in story it makes no more sense) that might also explain it.

Also, I thought he used Energy Melee when not wielding his sword, but I may be mistaken.
this is another important thing: if Hero One comes back, HE NEEDS EXCALIBUR. And Excalibur better get it's own unique model. I think this will do nicely:
