Ok, so I was all giddy like a scholl girl when I read about the weapon customization today. I thought WOW! the devs really amazed me this time. Maybe they don't suck...maybe I'm too hard on them.

    .
Then I saw this. A complete listing of all the "customizable" weapons with pictures. Are you serious?

Instead of making everyone think this was the greatest issue ever, just to be let down hard....they coulda stated that we would get the same old lame weapons with silly skins on them. Same stupid super soaker just camoflauge, same katana sword....just black or red. Same recycled crap. Nothing has changed. Same old devs.

Tell me I am wrong. PLEASE I want to be wrong! Tell me these are just playeer made crap and this isn't what we are getting........please

EDIT* Ok I was wrong. These are player made mods....hope this isn't what we get though. I am expecting different kinds of weapons, not just different colored skins. I really wish the devs would clear up what exactly they mean my "customizable"

    You know what's coming, Bram.

But don't worry. I've probably done similar things. Like that time I got impatient and started a thread about the difficulty of using the auction market.

I am eager to see what the in-game reason is go to the Menders and to time-travel. Is someone mucking up time and we are chasing after them? Possibly, if we take the Paragon Times as clues to the story.

Otherwise, why are we going back in time to help events that already took place and were "successful"?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Same reason Bill and Ted couldn't find their keys.
  3. Ouroboros: Nice! Less need to find someone with the badge mission you missed because you JUST outleveled it.

Weapon Customization: An excellent beginning! I hope it continues. I want cybernetic zombies. Maybe a Ghost Slaying Heat Hawk, too.

New Invention Sets: Come on, Endurance Modification!
Also...I hope you start making Tech Salvage useful for more things.

Willpower: This is cool, if sounding a little bit overpowered from the description of it on the site. But it's available for ALL the melee ATs, so it's all good.

Dual Blades: A Combo system? Sounds interesting...I'm assuming it's more complex than Build Up + Sniper Blast, or Assassin's Strike + Placate + Energy Transfer. Sounds like the kind of thing the Archery powerset could use to be a little more on par with Assault Rifle in terms of overall power.(hint hint)

And yeah, the fighting style (more offensive or defensive) was actually touched on on another video (someone posted it from Youtube.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would this be the video in question? I just looked it up and it looks interesting so far.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Wow...this first version of CoH was radically different. A little more like an FPS.
    Some interesting things I noticed:
[*]What was originally the Freedom Phalanx base was recycled to make City Hall.[*]Jack said minions take 3 or 4 hits, but Rick is one-shotting all of them...including Nosferatu.[*]Wow, heroes used to have MONEY![*]...ooh, and hospital bills. [*]Arena? We didn't get that live until issue 4...[*]How come we don't call the servers "Continuities" anymore?[*]Well, at least we don't have to worry about mez-heavy villain groups having a larger presence due to the incompetence of others.
  5. I had absolutely no expectation that my character's story would get in, but why is it that there's not even a single veiled reference to "jerk hacking" or "duping rares"? It is my opinion that UniqueDragon has been shafted...again.

It's sorta sad to see something like that go away. I woulda still loved to have the aimer tool thing, maybe aim for the head would deal better damage but less accuracy, the chest is really the same, mod dmg good accuracy. having a go at his lower body could disorient him, for a lil while.

    still...

Agreed. Why didn't we get THAT spiky hairstyle, or that awesome chi flare-up from that screenshot, or the John Woo-style freeze-frame-as-the-camera-circles-the-fight?

At least we don't have to worry about obsessive min-maxers kicking us off the team for having the wrong Origin, or losing Fame because of inactivity or a crimefighting slump. But most important of all, we don't have to deal with Vahzilok zombies with ENERGY MELEE.
  7. I said earlier that Werner von Skülgrab's theme song would be "Thriller" by Michael Jackson(the real Michael Jackson, not the nutjob of today), but I'm thinking this song would be better suited to him.
Move Your Dead Bones, from the music video for the film Beyond Reanimator
Protip: Don't bother watching any of the AMV versions of this video, as they all suck.
  8. Okay, it occurs to me that Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" is more suited for a villain than a hero, so it instead goes to Autononous Prime's Praetorian counterpart, Sparksteam.

Autonomous Prime's new theme song is the battle theme they used in the anime series Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

Aggressor's theme song is "Wasting Away In Margaritaville" by Jimmy Buffett. But if you ask him about it, he will probably deny it up and down.

    City of Secrets

((The page is broken. Somebody fix it.))

Brain Stormy D.((Hero from Guardian)): People often ask what the D stands for. "Dragon?" "Demon?" No, nothing like that. It stands for *clap* DY-NO-MITE!

Model Robot((Hero from Liberty)): If you must know my secret identity...I was the Lindbergh baby.

Werner von Skülgrab((Villain from Virtue)): I don't care vhat anyvun says...German is a beautiful langvage. Verständlich? Oops, I sink I spat on ze camera.

Autonomous Prime((Hero from Virtue)): I am indeed made from parts of Nemesis robots, but I am far more powerful than any of them. That is because my red paint job makes me 3 times faster.

    City of Secrets

We at the Paragon Times have spent many months interviewing various superpowered people, hero and villain alike. Over the course of those months, we have uncovered many details of the superpowered mindset; the kind of raw, powerful stories that even the most determined gossip magazines have failed to obtain. Without further ado, we give you a glimpse into the City of Secrets.

((This thread is meant to be like that sketch on Late Night With Conan o'Brien, where celebrities reveal silly nonsensical "facts" about themselves. Both Heroes and Villains are allowed to have their absurd stories printed here, whether factual or fictional. Following is a few examples using some of my characters.))

Nitro Rickshaw((Hero from Victory)): Not many people know this, but I was slated to make a cameo in the second season of Cop Rock. But the show got cancelled before that could happen. I guess there's no accounting for taste...stupid Nielsen viewers.

Shadow Rickshaw((Hero from Victory)):I grew up in a poor neighborhood. We didn't live near any nuclear facilities, and we didn't have that great of a school system. These factors contributed to some kids making desperate attempts to get superpowers. For example, a kid who lived next door tried irradiating some paint chips in the microwave and eating them. Regretfully, the only thing he recieved was the power of telepathic annoyance...and lead poisoning.

Autonomous Prime((Hero from Virtue)): Some people may know that I lived as a Bigfoot for over 30 years when my first hero career didn't pan out in the early 1970's. What they don't know is that it actually inspired a TV series. However, the TV executives and the writers working for them butchered the premise to the point of unrecognizability. The result was a flop called "Bigfoot and Wildboy".

Aggressor((Villain from Virtue)): Whenever I hear about a walk to fight breast cancer, I always participate. Not because I'm an altruist or anything; I just really like boobs.
  11. You're doing it wrong, Grym!
  12. Respek Knuckles(Ice Armor/Super Strength Tanker on Protector): "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees

Ninja Knight(Broad Sword/Super Reflexes Scrapper on Pinnacle): "Ninja" by 7 Seconds Of Love

Autonomous Prime(Stone Armor/Fiery Melee Tanker on Virtue): "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath

Werner von Skülgrab(Atomic Robot Zombie Men/Force Fields Mastermind on Virtue): "Thriller" by Michael Jackson(the REAL Michael Jackson, from the 1980's)
  13. *rolls the dice*

    Name: groin smasher
    AT: Brute
    Primary: Energy Melee
    Secondary: Electric Armor
Bio: he was built by crey to limit hero populaton by punching theyre groins
  14. Autonomous Prime has a new ability he did not have in the late 1970's. When with certain allies((those who have given him at least 3 buffs)), he can call upon a super mode known as the Omega Savior Form. This golden power not only makes him look cooler, it also exudes Awesome Energy, a type of energy given off by Awesome Beings, such as:
Metatron, Yahweh's giant robot/scribe from whom Autonomous Prime recieved his power...
Thor, the tough-as-nails Norse thunder god...
...and Bruce Campbell, B-movie actor extraordinaire.
  15. Where'd the Briefs pattern options for legs go?
  16. I don't usually RP on the forums, and have only seen this in-game. However, for the sense of completeness, I will mention it.

PLEASE, for the love of all things holy, do NOT rewrite the backstory of Paragon City/the Rogue Isles!
For example, no claiming that the Malta Operatives are rivals of the Legacy Chain, and no claiming that Croatoa was changed by science and not magic(especially if it's YOUR science).

I have actually seen these said in-game, and it's annoyingly stupid enough there.
  17. The front door of the Brown Dwarf swung open once more, and Monarch Penguin((Introduced on Page 2. -Ed.)) walked in. He had a few small rips in his spandex, showing short dark gray feathers. But more noticeably, he was carrying a clawed arm from a Zenith Mech Man.

"Phew...what a day. It feels like I've been fighting the bad guys here for a month."

Monarch Penguin then seated himself near the door, placing his mechanical prize on the table before him.
  18. Monarch Penguin merely watched silently, intrigued by this place. However, he then remembered why he came to Striga Isle in the first place.
"Well...I'll definitely come back for a drink when I clock out. However, I must now go beat up gangsters and soldiers."
Monarch Penguin then waddled out, waving goodbye with a finned arm.
((Sorry I gotta cop-out like this. I won't be able to use my computer for a week. But I will post again at the first opportunity I get.))
  19. [ QUOTE ]
OOC: Chertak is displeased that Rikti are not allowed.

BIC: The door banged open and a tall figure dressed in the style of a Circle of Thorns mage entered. A golden scaled snout peeked out from under the hood as the newcomer looked at the patrons and staff. Choosing a seat at the far left of the bar, the figure sat down on a stool, his thick tail falling free from the robes.

Muttering something in a sibilant language, the figure pulled his hood back to reveal a crocadilian face that currently had a large scowl dominating its features. Rapping on the bar lightly for the bartender's attention, the draconian wordlessly pointed at an add for one of the stronger forms of liquor avaliable.

While he waited, he looked more closely at the insectoid and the humanoid.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Monarch Penguin also heard Kriegg's chauvinistic remark, and turned his head to watch the inevitable rejection. "Hold that thought, Cafea. I gotta see this."
  20. The penguin-man stood up, relieved. "Ah...the 'Hamidon Jr.' resemblance threw me off. I'm sorry about getting off on the wrong foot. I'm Monarch Penguin."
  21. The cowering penguin hero thought for a moment, then responded. "Look, I can understand wanting to protect nature, but eliminating human life to do so is...well, a bit excessive. What's the Devouring Earth doing on Striga, anyway?"
  22. As the ferry pulled up to the Port Noble dock, an unusual looking hero came up from below deck. He was no more than 4 feet tall, wearing black and white spandex, ice blue sunglasses, and what appeared to be some kind of dark blue crown jutting from the top of his mask. He also had bare yellow feet that looked almost avian, and a mouthguard to match. As he came off the boat, he noticed the sign for the Brown Dwarf. Intrigued by the Home Away from the Homeworld tagline, he walked to the door and went inside. As he saw Cafea, he froze in his tracks. He removed his sunglasses to reveal bird-like eyes, then quickly put them back on and hid behind a table as cover, obviously frightened.

    Fun With Demos

I know I probably shouldn't nitpick, but what's up with Dark Sparky's new look?
  24. I'm pretty familiar with the concept of roleplaying, but I have another aspect of RPing in City of _____ that I'd like to have cleared up...how does it work in PvP zones, if at all?

    Mean Characters

Model Robot: Well, I don't remember anything mean I've done to anyone else, but...there was this time in late January when I was helping other heroes keep an apartment building from being frozen over by a couple of Winter Lords.
Suddenly, a squad of Council agents came out of freakin' NOWHERE and clubbed me over the head. When I came to, I found that the Winter Lords had already been defeated. I was a little disappointed about this, but I continued my patrol of Steel Canyon. I saw another pair of Winter Lords attacking another apartment building, but then the Council knocked me out AGAIN! As I lost consciousness, I could swear I heard them laughing at me. But mark my words.
My vengeance shall be a hellstorm upon them.
