  1. The thing is that with IO's, Soul Mastery, and Incarnate powers, FA can be made survivable enough while still putting out the best damage.

Maybe not enough to take on things like +4 Carnies solo, but survivable enough for most content.

    Barrier

    T4 Barrier Core works like this(Taken from Dispari's Guide): Barrier Core Epiphany: +90% RES/DEF first 10s, 32.5% next 20s, 7.5% next 30s, 5% last 60s (120s total), 60ft radius

So for the majority of the time, the resistance and defense bonuses aren't significant enough to replace Tough+Weave. You could however build around them, getting up to 40% defense instead of 45% from IO's.

I'd rather save it for when it's needed instead of putting it on Auto, considering it's essentially a god mode for 30 seconds.

Yep. I also find that players who boast about their bad builds aren't good enough players to make up for it. Players like FKM are a prime example of stubbornness and self admiration getting in the way of self-improvement.

So yeah, a build isn't all that counts. But if you're not open-minded about improving your build, the same often applies to your play-style.

It's an SS/FA Brute, pretty much the most overpowered combination in the game if you put your time/inf into it.
  5. You can't be the "best farmer evah" if you can't post top numbers for the most efficient farming maps. Sorry.
  6. It will affect both toggles and click powers during its duration.

Look at the video in my signature, and watch the Ranged Defense attribute at the far right. Watch how it spikes when I use PBU.

Because people need the better buff/debuff capabilities to stay alive? Dead people deal no damage.

And before you bring up how people don't need buffers to stay alive due to IO's and incarnate powers, I'll say this: 20% higher damage is a bit of a wash once you consider how much damage Reactive, Judgement, and (buffed)Lore pets do.
  9. It would be nice to have the option of customizing current pets before adding new pets, though I wouldn't oppose adding more neutral pets.

Also, it's worth delving into the APP's for extra purple set slots and useful attacks.

I slot it for recharge personally, I find it helpful when exemping down.

And yes I agree, Doctored Wounds>Numina's on an Empath.

  15. You can always count on Defenders contributing more mitigation and force multiplication to the team, and you can always count on Corruptors contributing more damage to the team.

This is how it has always been and I can't see how proliferation will change anything.

Several posters have indicated soloing GMs with Rad/Sonic, so that is FotM for defenders these days.

You mentioned Empathy. Did you just recently look into defenders ?
Sorry, not being snarky, but Empaths suck at soloing anything tougher than a Lieutenant.

Mine currently can solo +0/x3 no bosses with Uncommon Ion, Spiritual, Reactive, Storm Pet, and the Rare Clarion for perma mez protection. And I STILL manage to face-plant regularly.

So dont choose Empathy if you are looking for a Super Hero.
Empaths can solo AV's and possibly GM's, it just takes a while for them to get there.

    /em points at sig

That said I wouldn't recommend Empathy for soloing, but if all you want to do is solo those tip missions at the lowest settings then it doesn't really matter what you roll.
  17. 1. Either fix the data-link of add a data chunk so we can port the build into mids.

    2. I strongly recommend you reconsider stealth, seeing as you can still get stealth with the +Stealth IO proc.

    3. As for Incarnates, IMO Spiritual Alpha is the most important choice to make as an SS/Elec Brute. Extra recharge benefits both powersets on a brute very well, and the extra healing power is welcomed for Energize.

    4. Here is my recommended high-end build for SS/Elec:

Then it got nerfed severely, making it unable to stack and some complex suppression mechanic was added. The most recent change to the proc removed the suppression, AFAIK.
  19. Why would you want to rely on Overload? It has a devastating crash.

Anyway, EA will definitely improve, but in terms of potential with IO's ELA still wins out. How much are you willing to invest? If you're going for the long haul with deep pockets, go for ELA. If you're not fond of putting tons of influence into one character, go for EA.

Convenient is a very subjective term. Super Strength might be convenient to one person due to Foot Stomp's ease of use, while it would be intolerable to another due to the rage crash.

Claws may be convenient to one person due to the sheer amount of AoE powers, while the positioning required to execute them would be inconvenient to another.

In practice, the top damage dealer for DPS will probably be a scrapper or brute. Maybe a VEAT. Your DPS takes a big hit when you're dead.

On paper though, the Fire/Fire Dom wins.
Yep, especially when most of the damage is fire which is rarely resisted nowadays.

Still, too squishy for my taste.

It might be the case for single target DPS, but /Fire doms don't have a lot of AoE to complement their DPS. And they aren't very sturdy.
  23. Brutes are what you want. SS/FA in particular is the pinnacle of damage-dealing, and can be incredibly hard to take down if built and played right.

Either way, I don't think ANY elec melee attack chain would be considered a "top attack chain". It's practically a pure AoE set. But in your opinion, what WOULD be the best ST chain for me?
The best attack chain for Elec Melee is CB-JL-CB-CI. It needs quite a bit of recharge into CI, but if you use that attack chain and slot expensive procs in the right attacks(see the build I posted), you can put out pretty respectable DPS.
