And it is easy to get to 50 quickly in the AE.

    Eco.
That WoW-attitude wasn't helped with how Incarnate Content was introduced.

For a quite some time TRIALS (aside from the two recent tfs) were the only major new content coming out.

So yeah people see where the people are (lvl 50 trials) and want to get there as soon as possible. This is surprising how?

EDIT: My assumption when Incarnate content was announced was there would be system in place to work towards as you level, just like the inventions system, and there would be small teams and solo content in place.

    I was wrong obviously.

Seeing as how you have to actively put League into your chat box to see it, doesn't surprise me that there are folks that don't know.

I think the number will go up when COH Freedom launches, btw.

The green button I can't help you with.
  4. The trail isn't fun because of the problems of COH's old UI.

If you could control a bit more of the UI and where some things go (like captions that pop up on screen) it would make seeing the things you need to do, in order to see things on the fly, better. Also the giant text that flashes on screen needs to stay on a bit longer so that everyone who is focused don other things, like NOT DIEING, sees it.

At certain points because of the UI it gets VERY hard to see the things you need to avoid.

I'm glad this trial exists for people who like.

For me I'll keep running my BAFs/Lambdas.

This game, like life, is full of choices.

EDIT: It's not surprising that Keyes isn't run more. It's a very hectic trial. When you have a BAF and Lambda, and I suspect the new Underground trial being very laid back and easier to get components on . . . well you do that math.

This ofcourse is a problem, as since it's not run more, many more folks won't learn it. And if they won't learn it, it makes each new run seem like the FIRST TIME it's run. I don't envy trial leaders who need to basically explain it EVERY time. Unlike the BAF and Keyes.

I don't know. . . I just have a feeling by the time the Underground trial comes, many folks STILL won't have run a Keyes or have run it enough to learn . . . cause it's not run that much even on the most popular servers.
  5. Couldn't care less. Advertise away. Means more money for COH.

Their version of teleport is a pain the PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE to use.

Villains tend to be "This is who the good guys beat up for the next 1-10 issues," then they get rotated out while you stick with the same "good guys."

Add to that - how many times have the villains *permanently* won? Sure, they kill Superman... temporarily. They take over the world... which gets reversed due to some space-time its-magic hand-wavey nonsense.

Villains continually get written as "They will lose - maybe it'll get rough for the good guys, but they'll lose." I can't see that *not* playing a part - no matter how good the content, etc. - of why more people in this game genre make heroes as opposed to villains.

Not to mention that the bad guys that DO get away with things for a long time don't really lend themselves to games. They do... what? They plot and scheme, buy people off while looking like a respectable businessman who gives to the community, etc. while behind the scenes he's getting protection money paid to him and sending out minions to get beat on. Now put that in COH... how do you level? What are your powers? The closest we come to that is the Mastermind, and that's so far off that example (what's the last thing your character got to plot?) that it's not even in the same time zone.

The only games I can think of that came anywhere close were Dungeon Keeper and Evil Genius... and even those were pretty limited.

Fewer people play villains because *we don't get to be villains.* We get to be thugs.
Actually now there are more than a few long running badass villain comics. Irredeemable being just one off the top of my head.

Whether we get to be thugs or villains I'd argue that more folks would still choose to be heroes simply because they come to games for escapism. There's enough evil in the REAL world.

Also it's VERY difficult to create an mmo setting where the villains have won permanently. The closest this game has is Praetoria. And funny how it's now mostly abandoned.

The cap works for teams because it makes the blaster more desirable. While a brute or scrapper has greater the independence from the team, the blaster would contribute more in the teamed circumstance.

This seems appropriate, the blaster is more dependent on the team it should do more with the team.

Blasters are less desirable on teams . . . riiiiggghhhhtt.

Yeah you and I definetly are playing a different COH than one another.

As I said before it would help you to stop playing with terrible people.

But that is just my observation on how others play. I sure do see plenty of buff bars that lack any inspiration use, even when it should be screamingly obvious to drop them.
Not using insp is probably a BAD player problem, not just a bad blaster problem.

Never understood why I STILL to this day find dead team maters (of ALL ATS) with FULL insp trays when I try to give them an awaken.

    I'm always like . . . lol wut?

As to an increase in the damage cap on teams she isn't even remotely close to correct. If you want to argue that a 40% buff to potential damage output for blasters isn't big or great, I just hope you have prescription for the dope you are taking.
40% that they will rarely EVER get to on their own.

When SOLOING (which I thought was the issue here) nearly any other buff they could give blasters on their own would be more useful including any type of mez protection and scaling defense that someone suggested in another thread.

I don't think I'm the one taking dope.

I think Aracnaville already laid out why a cap increase would be all but useless to blasters solo or on teams, or anyone who plays blasters regularly.

But maybe there's some unique slotting or strategy in relation to blasters that we're not aware of.

That you need to explain this to A_F says alot about how folks ACTUALLY play blasters in game versus how he/she thinks folks play.

I'd argue her/his view is not close to the reality of how folks actually play blasters in game.

EDIT: And in THIS instance I don't mean that as an insult. I'm just baffled why anyone would recommend packing reds on a blaster vs all the other insp listed. Just doesn't make any logical sense.

I'd bet money if you took a poll in game of which insp blaster players pack reds would come in second to last or very realistically DEAD LAST.

  14. CN needs to have more episodes of their GOOD cartoons in order to build a following.

The amount of TERRIBAD they show that does not go on hiatus just makes the long hiatuses for their good shows even more inexcusable.

Also new Thundercats ROCKS! Thanks for the FIANLLY SILENT SNARF!!!

    Rocket Boards?

We all get the "No Physical Ice" bit and have no serious problems with it, there are lots of visual "Cheats" to something like that, such as a robust path aura that hides the feet The question is, if a "Slide" power could be implemented that would use the same physics as a Character who is sliding on ice in frozen areas(Such as the Ski Chalet) or oil patches in Port Oakes. Possibly with the ability to rise. The More or less unstoppable forward motion, the wide turning arc, the somewhat higher speed.

The idea of a rocket-board power opens up a lot of Creative potential if applied less as a one-off fancy bit and more as a real pool with customization

Another thing to consider is the possibility of re-using Flying attack animations, the issue would then be making the effect/object draw under the feet while doing so, but that doesn't seem like too much of an art hurdle, considering path auras. Simply have the character hover a few inches off their board/ice slide/flying rock/giant bat-thing whilst attacking then revert back to their "Surf" animation mode.Or more logically, just stand on it, it's a surface, you stand on surfaces, why not just use the "Ground" animations?
    Power-Set: Sliding
With your hover board, hunk of ice, or flying(Insert thing here) you slide and zip around the city
Power 1:(Taking into account new movement power rules in i21)
    Surf:
    Toggle Power:
This would be the "Getting around the city" power, not a good idea to use indoors(unless you're just nuts like that, in which case, good luck, man) Basically the mechanics of sliding on ice, turning radius and all, with the ability to levitate(Hover in place) whenever you stop and a speed higher than Flight's base but lower than Afterburners allows for vertical movement like flight, but only when traveling forward (I.e. you can't just jump straight up but have to be traveling forward and going up)
The idea here is it's high speed is balanced by it's hard to manage controls and singular use, it's only good for getting around town, really.
Power 2: Skim:Toggle Power: Similar to Ninja run with a bonus to run and jump speed(but less so) a less pronounced slide-type turning radius and delayed stop possibly with a secondary buff to defense.

    Power 3:
Kick-Flip:Passive Auto Power: The ability to perform a single, Steam-Punk jump-pack-esque Double jump whilst in the air, so long as no other Slide toggles are active
(You make the ice, Pull out your hoverboard/e.t.c and jump off it)
That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'm trying to come up with ideas based on existing game mechanics.

Obviously some kind of "attack" and a fifth power are needed. Just a thought
Before they do this, I'm assuming they'd have to get GENERAL pool customization working first. I don't expect this anytime this year.
  17. Really? testing PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE. don't ban me!!

EDIT: Okay that hilarious. Also that pancake pic that started this: whoever came up with that picture is a sick PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE. That is all.

So what if you have to stop frequently so they can keep up. That's called realism. The hostages are exhausted mentally and physically from being captured, beaten, and terrorized.

If your redside then the people your kidnapping don't want to go with you. Duh! You have to force them.

I guess I get too immersed in the game for this to bother me.
??? do you mean the AI? My issue is that the AI OFTEN gets stuck on walls, on areas where it WILL. NOT. MOVE. etc.

Has NOTHING to do with whether we are super heroes or not all to do with the TERRIBLE pathing and AI this game's engine still has to this day.

I seriously doubt it can be done that easily or quickly.

I'd bet this would be on the level of power customization, simply because you're tinkering with nearly EVERY animation in the game, unless we are saying there are some animations we DON'T want walk working with . . . which would make this entire thread pointless.

Power cust still hasn't been completed. Without seeing the code, I'd bet money that pool power cust and other missing options (kheldians) are related to similar issues with Walk.

Be a loser, or in this case make a good farm arc?
  22. As Golden Girl said the 3rd Superhero mmo launched in January of this year. With EQUAL CONTENT and EQUAL PERKS for both it's hero and villanside.

The disparity of of heroes vs villains is 3 to 1 on EVERY server in THAT game.

People naturally prefer being a hero over a villain.

I think there were a GIGANTIC LOAD more people rooting for the Joker to lose then for Batman to lose in the Dark Knight.

    Pretty pointless and too late.

The problems (and I don't just mean farming) with AE and the utter lack of development have pretty much made the whole thing pointless.

Regular AE missions giving LESS XP than nearly any other FARM also probably won't do much to attract new blood.
