    Question.

    Funny, haha.

But seriously would anyone object if there was a non-real money way to get these items?

I say this in the nicest way possible: but who give a flying ****?

The point is players made known that they DO NOT WANT having to pay real money for a chance at a virtual item. The devs heard and are adjusting.

Everything else is irrelevant. I'm glad Snow is dropping it as it's a pointless discussion that sidetracks the REAL issue.

    Question.

Question: Does anyone else think that they should sell enhancement converters via the Astral and Emp store, if not also via the Hero/Villain Merits store?
  4. Didn't even know these existed. I've seen GG's stuff once or twice but didn't realize they (and others) were archived here on the forums!!!!

    Will check them out.

Maybe an announcement in the NCsoft Launcher from time to time would help get awareness out?

    *looks at Zwill and Avatea*

That's about it. All the silly nonsense about coupon's collector or what this is or isn't is irrelevant. The point is ONCE AGAIN Paragon Studios saw that the players were not entirely happy with what they were proposing to sell, so they modified it based on feedback.

    That's a good thing.

Fact is players prefer to know exactly what they are getting for the money they are paying. This is NOT the same thing as random rolling with AE tickets or Reward Merits. We are talking about REAL MONEY here.

The game suffered, in my opinion, from a very serious "cost of entry" problem where nearly every standard legal deck required 4 of that guy, which would set you back $500 or so. And that, while deplorable, is a side effect of the problem that the game designers literally can't stop the real world market from dictating the value of the cards.

But this is the sale of a randomized collection of virtual goods which are not necessary for players, and it's meant to provide players with something for their purchase. I'm seeing a distinct detachment between what we know so far and what people are assuming will happen.

Frankly I will have to see which costume parts are exclusively in it and what the odds are of getting them before I come to any conclusions about how "bad" it is for the game.
The randomness of it is good enough for me to say it's bad for players, but not necessarily bad for the game.

I have no illusions that these things are meant to make money. With that said I don't think the odds are going to be anything in the player's favor based on the history of other RNG systems in this game.

Thus anyone with gambling issues this might be bad for. However, I expect it to make money just for that reason. Which is good for the game. Financially. Only.

    Reputation-wise and goodwill building-wise . . . that's another story.

If there were an in-game mechanic that caused "free" enhancements and recipes and costume parts to stop dropping for VIPs so that VIPs were forced to spend more money to play, THAT would be predatory.

This looks like a way to enhance the value of a VIP sub. If these packs are only available to VIPs, then it's like a whole new thing that adds value to the VIP status.

Cool to hear. Has anyone mentioned what date it stops being available? I'm looking forward to taunting people with something they CAN NEVER HAVE.
Something completely random with no guarantee of getting what you want to pay for exactly adds value . . . for the seller. Like in casinos. Not hard to see why some folks might have issue with that.
  9. Good job Paragon Studios.

I probably won't ever buy a super pack as I don't like to gamble and I do not like random rewards.

But more power to those who do, I hope you make a lot of money off them.

    Well said.

The AI behavior has no basis in reality.

I.e. he was going to do what he damn well wanted, and the players could just lump it.
Which, really, isn't what PS is going for these days, as far as I can tell.
Agreed. That's not what I got out of this coffee talk at all. I just think they will be more careful in just making stereotypical outfits for females going forward. Nothing wrong with that.
  13. For what it's worth I have a premium (I just buy the cheap invention license) with some IOs (no purples) account ss/fire that can farm at +4/x8.

Works well when I want to PL my main account.

The premium gets no rewards in AE, but that doesn't matter, as it's just for leveling and the real account does get them.

Actually getting to work on Neverwinter Online (upcoming), Champions Online, and Star Trek would really diversify an animator's/artist's portfolio. Even if said games suck (you make your own judgments on that LOLOLOL) it's still good for the artist.

And LOL at this sentence from Jay's profile: "Video game character artist. Hand crafting pixels, vertices, and polygons with the quality and care of a level 80 Samurai Wizard! What, that's crazy!? Crazy Good."

There is a significant difference. And having been here for nearly eight years...I think I have a good handle on the level of quality I should expect from this game.
Pretty much this. When we stop talking or caring about what they do, THEN they should start to worry.

I've always said that if I wanted to play "those other mmos" I'd play them, whenever folks bring up traditional mmo play or other mmo games over here.

What you just stated is reason 1 out of 21312232132411 why I don't play those other games.

Something scaled down like avoiding what AntiMatter does vs. what the Avatar of Hamidon does?

The avatar fight is a straight up stats fight. Either you have enough confuse protection, debuff and damage to take him down or you don't.

For Antimatter you still do need damage and debuff, but there is also situational awareness.

I'm not sure how they will be able to do it for solo players though.

Yeah, THAT's a good example, and more accepted in terms of the type of difficulty than what Trapdoor is/was.

However, that's almost a given, as you can't do the BM fight in Apex solo . . . well you can, but to be able to even get access to it, it REQUIRES a team.

Had trapdoor REQUIRED a team from the beginning there might have been less ******** about it.

Trapdoor and Hero 1 on the Mender Ramiel arc are good examples of boss encounters that are easy for some people, but almost imposisble fro others.
Honestly the more I think about this the more interested I am in seeing what they come up with.

It will be very easy for them to come up with something that's too hard for new out of the gate 50s or too easy for tier-ed to the gills Incarnates. Not to mention the AT issues you just mentioned.

Will be interesting to see how they do it.

I think it will be a significant challenge actually for the devs.

Trapdoor and the honoree mission was the first foray into something that was a little bit more challenging than standard COH.

The reviews on that were very mixed.

Now with at least part of the solo and small teams audience having +3 abilities . . . it's going to be interesting how this is balanced.
  23. As long as they leave the OLD way of forming in sure. This should be in addition, not in replacement of.
