I don't think it's a good idea to move MM's Heroside without also moving something from Heroside to Villainside.
Additionally this movement shouldn't be done until villainside is allowed to become more well rounded.
While some of the population discrepancy is because of what Rachel said, I think it's made worse because of the lack of story updates to the villain side.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd actually argue that the entire game has been lacking story updates for some time. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd rather they add more sets to MMs before any crossover or porting option for them.
Certainly a heroic MM would need some new sets.

Clowns anyone?
How about an Arachnos/PPD/Longbow (read Ballista) Mastermind? -

Would people renting more sale slots be able to store things in their regular slots while renting others?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is my biggest concern - using all existing slots for storage and bids and then renting a slot to sell. We already get charged 10% of our sale price for using the market - adding another 1-2% (as suggested by the OP) won't really make a difference, which means as long as you have an initial pot of inf to start with, you'd essentially have limitless (or whatever the rental cap is) slots.
[/ QUOTE ]
And if it's a drain on the market server, that COULD be a bad thing.
Then again one of the reasons given for the old 60 day limit on items in those slots was because it would lag the server to hell with all that data.
So either they upgraded that server recently, or after data mining the discovered that it's not that much of a drain after all.
So who knows. -
it's a good idea, but i don't think there is a system in place to auto adjust sales of items in those slots.

Cool video! Though I still think you should hire on Samuraiko! Look what she can do -without- your resources, Hmmmm...? Imagine what she could do as a contracted employee!

*edit* Samuraiko/Dark_Respite/Michelle/Lady of WIN!

This, the video here was ok, but the history one she did is just... amazing. I was speechless watching it.

Not to be in bad form, but anyone have a link to the one she did? -

QR, my two cents:
Adding a ranged power to the melee sets: good.
Adding ridiculously over-powered ranged powers to the melee sets: bad.
I actually LIKE that the melee mobs can hit fliers and kiters now. I do NOT like that a group of 3-4 melee mobs can get lucky and take out a squishy. And given the fact that my non-min/maxed SR Scrapper takes on groups of 5 or more at a time... between the 3 guys I'm fighting in melee range and their buddies pegging me with heavy ranged attacks, even I drop (or at least have to rest) after every battle.
(Obviously, dropping a few 100M on IOs would solve some of those problems, but I don't require them for any regular content...)
[/ QUOTE ]
lol don't you know that the we are expected to do these misshes with only granite tanks and the like?
Seriously, I'll say it again, this patch SHOULD have been kept on TEST longer so folks could actually TEST.
If these patches are being pushed through cause of the anniversary and issue 15, I say [censored] issue 15 and the anniversary. Get the [censored] right first before pushing it out.
Of course i don't expect anyone to take that idea seriously. -

You truly didn't think it was gonna last forever did you? I mean really.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but it totally [censored] normal teaming and everything people do AE wise blows.
[/ QUOTE ]
Please go find another game. If what you want is normal, then I am screwed. Please leave, and take everyone like you with you.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm actually glad the AE (non farm missions) are drying the regular content teams up. That might be a hint that the devs needs to focus more on CONTENT now that they've got their major systems up (merits, lolpvp, and MA).
Enough systems focused issues please.
Get back to making content folks want to play.
And yay to the two high level tfs coming in issue 15.
Would be nice to get some more lower level content one of these days though. -
Sigh.
THIS and the changes to maps are one of the reason's why I don't like how fast patches on TEST jump to LIVE now.
Back in the old days there was more time for folks to actually TEST patches on TEST.
It would also give the patch writers time to note what's changed accurately. (Referring; Lack of notation of maps being removed in these patch notes.)
Again, sigh. -

Figures we'd see a silly post like the one you guys facepalmed to.
shows that some people STILL haven't figured out that you SHOULD be testing your arcs properly. And no, testing with just a tanker brute or scrapper is NOT proper testing. -
Not going to happen. The devs have pretty much said they are happy with pvp the way it is. Some of your suggestions just takes it back to issue 12 pvp.
With that said I'd be happy if they did some/all of these. -

I wouldn't have a problem with it in and of itself.
My issue would lie in the Coding. Would the Devs be able to mark specific spawns to carry that flag, after the most recent changes? Would they have to undo what they've just done to accomplish it? If so then I don't think it's a good idea, due to the possible game-glitches it would spawn.
If they can just move the enemies you're reffering to into a separate bracket "Hellions, Skulls, Rikti, No Rewards" I'd -definitely- be fine with that!
I do have a few arcs in mind that would be best if I could spawn Snake Eggs, but I'd be more than happy to have 0XP for the Eggs rather than not be able to do it.
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately the coding was something I thought of when I came up with the idea. I don't know if the devs could add them back in but with zero rewards. Or if there is a way, while running a arc flagged as No Rewards/XP, the player receives nothing (Like when testing).
But I imagine if its a change that has to go onto the critter itself its not something the devs are likely to do anytime soon.
I think its just a question really of how the testing flag works and if its something that could be applied to the mission itself and not just how its access.
Maybe... *hopeful*
[/ QUOTE ]
Seeing as how they have been removing them individually, I'd bet its something that has to do with the critter itself. If not, why couldn't they just mark all the things they removed as no XP? Or even severely reduced XP?
I don't see this happening anytime soon, if at all. -
With that said the best ideas are what I think Posi already posted.
If you exploit you get the hammer. -

I think the idea of Diminished returns is probably a more effective deterrant than a bonus on the first run.
If a group of people found a mish that was -very- easy for them they could keep farming it repeatedly and endlessly. Sure they wouldn't get the initial bonus on the following runs, but they do get full rewards.
Diminishing returns would make farming the same MA arc backwards thinking. Though I'd DEFINITELY have a different 24 hour timer on EACH character. =-3
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
Dungeons & Dragons Online did this actually. The more you ran a particular quest the less XP and rewards you received from it. It worked out well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually wouldn't mind diminishing returns as well.
This should of course come hand in hand with the tagging system, so folks know what dreck to avoid. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Rather than (or maybe as well as) diminishing returns, what might eb a nice idea is just to give a bigger reward the first time your character does something. Give double (or triple) the number of merits for the first time you do a TF or Story arc. That ups the amount of merits available to a character who just goes through doing everything once, is reasonably hard to farm (maybe the low level stuff doesn't get this bonus?) and should make doing something different more attractive to repeating something.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like that, bonus > nerf any day.
You could extend it to mob types, too. First fifty hellions give double xp, etc. Makes a lot of the tougher level borders more interesting (e.g. lvl 30.) But only apply these outside of MA.
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually like this idea. Better than all the MA-killing suggestions I've seen today. -

They just recently made leveling easier, right before the MA
This suggestion implemented would make no sense with that just being done. -
[ QUOTE ]
story wise the patron thing would be easy to get around. Just say go to a contact rebel side and have them say " hey we just stole some tech from "insert patron name". If you do some stuff for me i can give you access to them.".
And ya it would take forever and a day to get the content needed to make it worth while. But with the new mission maker UI they should/might be able to streamline mission production now. Never said it would be easy, but if they put the timei nto it i think it could be done. That said idk if it would add anything to the game.
For me i don't think i would bother with it because it would split the player base even more. Because u couldn't have people who work for one over the other teaming doing the content. It just wouldn't make sense. Hero side maybe but def not villain side. MY OP was just a suggestion on how it could be done. But i think it would add too little re-playability for the amount of work needed to implement. And as some one who has pretty much lost all interest in coh since i14:Farmers delight i mean AE Edition i think they need to add some thing's that add replayability asap.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think it would do jack to help replayability.
The devs just don't add content that fast.
I'd rather they focus on NEW content, finishing up the dangling plot points and offer more proliferation than this.
Also your idea for the patrons would seem like a half-[censored] hack to many players. -
[ QUOTE ]
If done right I think it could be a good addition to a future issue. Just about every group in COX has some other group they fight with. But it would tend to villain side better then Hero side because of the nature of villainy imo.
But perhaps a global type rep system, for example playing as a hero;
At lvl 1 you get to pick from 1 of say 2 different contacts. A Freedom Corps contact, or a vanguard contact, or some other such major faction hero side (legacy, wyvern, hero corps etc.). And have an over arcing story based on what faction you pick at the start of your character, like the Heat's/Veat's have.
Depending on which side you choose have some obvious pros and cons. Say if you went vanguard then you can earn random vanguard merit drops when fighting other things then rikti, or a few merits at the end of every mission you do for them. As well you can have a certain number of unique costume options based on what side you choose that will only be available to you based on what side you pick. That way when people see that you have the giant "x" hat then they can see that you helped side "X". Perhaps have your choice culminate in a Taskforce, that depending on which side you picked, it ends with you fighting big boss "x" over big boss "y".
Also depending on which side you choose perhaps have different villain groups hate you more so then others. So if I choose vanguard then the Rikti would have more of a hatred towards me then say if I picked Freedom corps and would have Arachnos hate me more. Even more so you could have within each faction, a chance to concentrate on sub factions within. For example maybe you choose to fight only the rikti as a member of vanguard and only them, or perhaps you *spoiler* want to help fight against the renegade vanguard faction*/endspoiler*, or some combination of the two.
The same thing can be done villain side. Let the player choose to work with Arachnos, or to try and take over/destroy Arachnos. Or conversely if they dont want to have anything to do with the faction system they can just ignore both of the new contacts and just do missions as they normally would.
But thats just off the top of my headlol
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah this would require MASSIVE content to have to introduced to both sides of the game, especially arachnos. They pretty much have their hand in just about EVERY regular contact. Especially when you get to the later levels. For instance if you choose to OPENLY work against Arachnos how would a villain get lvl 41 epic powers?
EDIT: Basically the Patrons would never talk to you if you could build faction against them.
The idea in general sounds fine but with the rate with which dev created alternative content is created (read nearly NON-existant and slooooowwww) i don't think this could practically work well.
If they introduced all NEW alternate factions for every level range sure. The chance of that happening in anyway reasonable amount of time for a faction system to actually work as a major part of the game . . . ummm, well .. . -
QR
This would work if the factions all spanned from 1-50.
With the way villain groups currently work, there just aren't enough groups that you experience game wide for reputation to really matter.
Unlike, WoW, the xp curve has been bumped up so much in the last issue or two that players don't spend nearly enough time in lvl ranges (say, 1-20, 30-40, or even 40-50) that reputation would matter. -

How about the auto-exemplar feature, at least? Or the ability for one person to exemp multiple people?
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
I would tentatively /semi-sign multiple sks to one person, with the understanding that it would mean perma 46s could be used to pl multiple people.
Even that worries me a bit.
EDIT: multiple or auto Exemplar I have less issue with as that has nothing to do with xp really, and is just about getting highbes to be able to play with lowbies. -
[ QUOTE ]
I dunno. One of the handful of things I LIKED about EQ2 was that it let the whole team exemp to one person's level. What if we could do it both ways? Auto-sk up to the mission's level, so long as the mission's owner is in the range, auto-exemp if you're too high level?
Alternatively I'd just LOVE to have the ability for multiple people to SK to the HIGHEST MEMBER of a team. It couldn't be used for powerleveling. =-3
-Rachel-
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with the poster before you.
The rampant stupidity here on the forums and in game created by the farming+combined with auto sk is something I DON'T want to see repeated throughout the game. I'd rather not have a repeat of the idiocy that came from the extremist ends of pro-farming and anti-farming groups happen again, if this potentially resulted in a new exploit.
I would keep the auto sk where it is and keep the regular sk features as is for the regular game.
The risks of what could happen if the devs botched up the implementation of such a feature game wide are just too much to stomach.

I do have some extremely good news though, we are setting up a custom power selection mode for Issue 15. Critters will start with the standard powers for their rank, and any other power in the set can be added individually.

Yes, and we also discussed a lot of this over there. The problem is with all the things that were unnecessarily broken in the meantime while we await i15, coming Soon(tm).

Players that have abused the reward system egregiously may lose benefits they have gained - leading up to and perhaps including losing access to the characters power-leveled in this fashion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Though I believe that action is necessary, I would dispute that this is necessary or even warranted.
I get the impression that MOST of the players, especially ones who came here new to experience this content, have taken part in at least some form of power-leveling.
I feel to remove what they perceive they earned, not only in effort but in real money spent, would cause a serious reduction in population. There are precedents for this.
Just a thought.

I assume he means those who have gone from 1-50 in 3 hours.
I don't assume he means those who might have gotten a lvl or two or three from it.
Then again since, as usual, there are no definitions or specifics in that post, it's up to Posi to clarify. -

Sweet, sweet relief.
Of course, prepare for the forums to become an unusable pile of wailing and gnashing of teeth at your oppression of hardcore exploiters supposedly unharmful 1-50-in-3-hours playstyle, but hey, you're wearing power armor, you can take it.
