Auto SK

All the MA farms have shown me an awesome way to find teams. It was incredibly easy to get on, find a team and play. So why can't we have auto sk always in all content? We all know the benefits so I'm not going to focus on those. Instead I'm going to focus on the problems.

First we have the exploitive behavior. Specifically when you have a very low level fighting in a team of high levels he gets xp design for small number of kills. While the high level team will mow down mobs like they were paper. So I think scaling of XP needs to be put in place. On a side note, I think this will cut down on PLing in general. Mainly because be so easy to PL a char from 1 to 20ish.

Another way to address this is to limit how far auto sk works. Say within 10 levels. So everybody will be auto sked to the mission level as long as they're within 10 levels. This works in regular missions but a level would have to be added to the missions in MA's. Maybe base it on leader or highest level member in the team for those. Or just whatever the level that the mission spawns at.

So with potential solutions to make it non exploitive, and with all the team building benefits, what do you guys think?

I think it'd be fantastic if every map in the entire game auto-SKed players to the lowest level the arc is offered to and exemped players to the highest level the arc is given (if they are above it)

But this -could- lead to powerleveling sprees as level 45-50 missions get farmed to tears again with level 1 sked-to-45 players on the team. So I like to 10 level limit idea for that.

As for scaling XP of lowbies: I kind of like that. Seriously: If a team is mowing down enemies in an efficient manner, you should be rewarded for it. Maybe make the XP hit a flat 1% per level sked? So that a player at the extreme of the auto-level feature loses 10% of the XP they would normally gain from an individual foe.

They'd still level really fast, based on how many people are on the team wiping the floor with foes, but not Alarmingly fast.

Not so hot on this idea. I think it's clumsy in the MA, and really don't want to see it expand to the regular game. The whole point of sidekicks and exemplars, as originally introduced, was to allow friends to play together even if one was higher level. The point wasn't to fight at a higher level and gain more exp, it was to play with your friend. Auto-sk essentially serves no purpose but to facilitate powerleveling. I'd rather see it taken out of the MA, than added elsewhere.

I dunno. One of the handful of things I LIKED about EQ2 was that it let the whole team exemp to one person's level. What if we could do it both ways? Auto-sk up to the mission's level, so long as the mission's owner is in the range, auto-exemp if you're too high level?

Alternatively I'd just LOVE to have the ability for multiple people to SK to the HIGHEST MEMBER of a team. It couldn't be used for powerleveling. =-3

I agree with the poster before you.

The rampant stupidity here on the forums and in game created by the farming+combined with auto sk is something I DON'T want to see repeated throughout the game. I'd rather not have a repeat of the idiocy that came from the extremist ends of pro-farming and anti-farming groups happen again, if this potentially resulted in a new exploit.

I would keep the auto sk where it is and keep the regular sk features as is for the regular game.

The risks of what could happen if the devs botched up the implementation of such a feature game wide are just too much to stomach.

AKA, /unsigned.

How about the auto-exemplar feature, at least? Or the ability for one person to exemp multiple people?

I would tentatively /semi-sign multiple sks to one person, with the understanding that it would mean perma 46s could be used to pl multiple people.

Even that worries me a bit.

EDIT: multiple or auto Exemplar I have less issue with as that has nothing to do with xp really, and is just about getting highbes to be able to play with lowbies.

There was a lot of farming because the auto sk had no counter measures. Specifically when you had a 40 teamed with a 10 fighting 50's. Add to that tailored mobs you get super farms. This is now what we're adding here. In fact, this would limit farms in general more then is done right now. The 46's sking lowbies wouldn't give you 10 dings in a mish. it would give you 1. More or less at the same rate that if you would do low level mish yourself with a team your level.
