I have no dobut that folks will complain no matter how the winner is chosen.

personally, i'm not too impressed with any of the prizes, but that's just me.

the boss spawn rate has been up for quite a while, not sure if this was changed in i14 or i15 but definitly noticed it when I came back (left late i13, came back late i15), I duo a lot with a friend and some missions there would only be a couple of spawns which weren't 1 boss 1 minion on basic difficulty, others there would be only the boss spawn at the end if the mission called for one...

Don't mind the changes personaly in fact our corruptor duo (fire/rad, ice/cold) needed the extra challenge even at low levels, but I can see this could be an issue for others
I don't mind them either, seeing as how more bosses mean more chances for Pool Cs.

Victory has an unbelievable amount of TF's being run and they are always looking to bring new people aboard. I've had good luck on most of the servers, but tactics vary from server to server and population is not necessarily what determines how easy it is. Now for PvP I imagine that raw numbers is fairly important.
    This.

I don't know how many times it needs to be repeated that shouting "xxx, lft!!!" in b-cast is the WORST way to try to find a team. Seeing as how most ongoing PUGs are in INSTANCES (even more so, since teams don't have to wait around anymore for an 8th member--difficulty settings made the necessity to get 8 to get higher numbers of mobs something that no longer is necessary), you'll rarely see many in b-cast anymore.
  4. Just go to show you that some folks are just afraid of the star no matter what the devs do.

i remember all the whining threads about AE killing PUG forming.

No, the problem was many folks don't want to do any work to get a team going. they just want to get invited.

Once the devs fix it so that you can run difficult tfs again, what exactly would they have given up?

Folks keep talking as if the devs aren't going to fix the issue.

EDIT: And looking on TEST they've already started to fix the issue.

I can bet in a patch or two difficult TFs/SFs will be fixed back as well.

Okay, sure that might seem captivating to some pure naif from the deep rainforest who's never seen a computer before. But it is a huge turn-off for anyone with even a passing familiarity with computer games.

The intrigue of character creation & new powers and fun combat could certainly distract them from the fact that what they're running is roughly as fun as pounding on their thumb with a hammer.

That doesn't mean the content is any good, or that they wouldn't be better served avoiding it entirely and picking it back up when it stops being pure unadulterated crap.
The lower level content needs a revamp. That's for sure. ALOT of heroside content needs a revamp (*cough* Shadow Shard, positron *cough*)

What's been keeping me playing? The inventions system, the market, powerset proliferation and the wait for GR.

Once there is a new low level game, I might have the urge to roll a new alt.

With that said leveling from 1-24 isn't so bad now with all the bumps. Sewer team it, then do some newspapers/radios, mayham, safeguard and you are good for level 20.

Unfortunately as a vet I've done all that. I'm looking forward to GR.

EDIT: Luckily I got a few lowbies up to levels 17-20, using AE farms before I16, so I'm ready for Dbl xp push to lvl 24. Then it's just waiting on GR.
  7. Nice. As more and more folks post pics like this I laugh at the "this is harrrrd" folks still complaining about the market.

Personally as it's a stopgap measure, I think raging about it is a bit silly.

But that's just me. The OP's mileage may vary.

It's more accurate to call the sewers a grind than a farm.
Either way Nether's point is spot on.

You're SKIPPING content. As far as I'm concerned I see no different between getting on a PI farm from 1-5, sewers, or standing by the door in a mission while someone clears a map, or an AE farm where everyone on team fights from 1-5.

You're all skipping the low level content.

I ask because I'm crazy, and recently did a +4 ITF, and am contemplating a +4 LRSF and LGTF. TFs are fun, but not if we have to run them all on easy mode at +0. Hopefully you're looking at a solution to make it so we can pick our difficulties again, but not make them easier? Because TFs on +0 are not challenging and not any fun. I can get way harder, more challenging content just doing newspaper missions, and that's just silly. A task force being defaulted to easy is like... nonsensical. I'll understand if this is temporary, but please don't tell me this is how it's going to be from now on.

And while you're at it, tie merit rewards to difficulty maybe? Please?
LOL, I was with you till you asked for merit rewards to be tied to difficulty.

I can see the stuff before that being possible for them to code. I wouldn't hold my breath on the request you snuck in at the end.

    Nice try though.

    YEP!

Salvage was the only thing not epically broken by the recently found drop bug (which a dev just stated has been in since issue 9 ).

With the difficulty new settings (read epic levels of lts and minions killed EACH MISSION) I've had to delete HUNDREDS of salvage pieces to make room for rare salvage that's also dropping like candy.

Hmmm, I wonder if we'll ever see an alternate dimension of Paragon, as part of say, maybe an expansion, anytime soon?

Uninitialized variables can be anything, but often have tendency to be zero, which would not cause a problem (actually any positive value would not matter).

This bug as been in since Issue 9 and was not caused by specifically by anything related to I16 (Whenever code is changed the tendencies of uninitialized variables can change). I suspect the changes made with I16 caused drop rates to be closely scrutinized.
It's been in since inventions began?

And no one of us noticed?

Would that meant that stuff like saaaaaay PURPLES was always meant to have a higher drop rate?

Agreed. The $5 per person would pay for the server. (Upkeep would be different EXPENSIVE issue, as someone else pointed out.) And the Auto clear would make sure folks didn't just play on the test server. I would add:

    3) It should be dead last in receiving updates. I'd argue make it an issue behind every issue.

    Whoa nelly!

Unless what I've heard is completely off I don't think the comparison to the Sims and Second Life is all that correct.

Doesn't 2L need you to put real life money into it to get anything done in it? Unlike the Sims?

Also I would think the construction and family building tools in the Sims would be easier to use "from the get go".

If what I've seen and read is correct, then I can easily see how someone who likes the Sims may not like something like 2L, as 2L seems to be waaaaay more advanced than the simplicity of the Sims.

I then set about my goal to casually purple him.

I am currently lacking about 15 purples and I have 10 slotted plus my LotGs and other choice tidbits I wanted for my build. I have been playing him 160 hours at 50 so far. It hasn't seemed like a whole lot and truthfully if I was willing to spend the inf I have on hand down to 0 I'd only have 9 purples to go. But in any case I expect it to take me another 100 hours or so of playing (maybe longer with this horrible recipe drop rate going on).

Is 250ish hours of level 50 play to fully purple a warshade really a whole lot?
I think when he says a whole lot, he means that (for instance) 250 hours of lvl 50 play is no longer Casual. His point is if you are going after a full purple build . . . you're no longer a casual player, thus purples once again, aren't meant for casuals.

I think the idea that purples are meant to be for hardcore play was the point. At least how I understood it.
