Quote:I have no doubt that there's something missing in my build, and as I've said before, my lack of experience, and the pure variety of Kheld builds out there can make any 'fix' for Khleds tricky. There's no definite answer or solution, and the fact that my build is largely thematic makes for a rather skewed idea as to what needs 'fixing'.When I see things like lack of endurance and a request to have even more health I have to wonder about builds. Years ago when the Kheld forum was more active people would complain, others would ask them to show their builds and it soon became clear what the issues were, we would help them fix it up and this was before the the better Kheld changes.
If we could do it then I know we can do it now since Khelds in fact are WAY better than they use to be. -
Looking back over the thread, I do find myself wondering how the archetype can be 'fixed', so to speak.
From a personal stand point, I usually find myself lacking anything to keep my endurance up, even with Light Form, to the point where I believe Kheldian Powers cost too much for what they do.
Is that correct? Not exactly. The key point of a Peacebringer, as well as a Warshade is Versatility. While they can freely focus on certain roles and aspects of a group, their ability to adjust on the fly is astounding. The inherent power they both get emphasises this by having them be better at what they do based on the team they have.
That, and I'm sure I'm doing something wrong somewhere, as I've seen plenty of pre-incarnate Peacebringers have no endurance issues at all.
So, would the answer be to add more powers to gain further versatility? I don't think so. Again, it's the ability to adjust on the fly that grants a Kheldian its value. Adding more power changes would make it more of an archetype that can be practically anything, but once it picks its path is stuck with it until the next respec, and it would run the risk of blurring the line between a Warshade and a Peacebringer to the point where visuals are the only things that differentiate the two.
Are they underpowered? In my opinion, they are a bit. It's difficult to describe, as many people have stated that both Peacebringers and Warshades are almost completely different in regards to how they're played, but there's something about them that, to me, doesn't feel as 'Epic' as their archetype suggests, but this is purely from a numbers standpoint. Visually, it's the most fun I've had on the game.
When I made the suggestion to turn Reform Essence into a PBAoE heal, it was mainly to retain the back-up support role that the AT had. I don't really see a reason to remove Glowing Touch, as it work fine, both thematically and mechanically.
Thinking back, if there are any 'fixes' to the Peacebringers I would want, it would be these:
A boosted Damage cap
A boosted Health cap
(Maybe, not exactly sure on this one) Incandescence provides a recovery boost that's only half enhanceable.
(Also a big maybe) an adjustment to Light Form that would reduce or remove the crash. If it's easy enough to get Perma Light Form, and considering the boost it provides, I don't see a reason as to why it should be a stacking effect. If it were changed to a refresh effect, then I'd be happy.
Other than that, I can't see anything else that needs to be adjusted, but this is coming from a guy who plays a Pure Human for RP Reasons. To that extent, I'm sure my one year of experience and heavily thematic build doesn't give me the credible view point most would want.
That's just my two cents. -
Well, Rakeeb, let's have a look see.
I like the idea that the concepts are taken into account, and allowing for an increase in damage, health and especially Endurance Efficiency can provide a significant starting point for Peacebringers.
Personally, I would have simply settled on adjustments to Light Form. Instead of it being a Stacking effect, it would be a refresh effect, with the crash applying when you stop applying Light Form.
However, the changes you've suggested are ones that I really like, and they'd probably tempt me to play my Peacebringer again.
One thing I will suggest would be something that was suggested earlier, which is to change Reform Essence into a PBAoE Heal, since Glowing Touch would be replaced with Challenge, and it would retain the minor support aspect the AT already had. -
Hm, well, there is that.
Since I had a free open build, I've been working on PvPing my KM/FA to deal with Ranged Enemies, with a fast heal and the like. A lack of Immobilise is a bit of an issue, but the Knockback and Knockdown might help with juggling.
Here's what I have for that. I countered the low accuracy that usually accompanies KM. While it wouldn't be a dedicated PvP build by any means, it'd permit some instance of power and skill if it was pulled into a PvP match.

Hm, that I can understand.
My alrternative would have been Martial Arts/Willpower, using Rebirth as a Self-heal and Regen boost. My main concern would be, what a friend of mine describes as, a Cascade Failure, where the loss of an attribute would prove to be the death of him.
Here's what I have for it:

As for Accuracy, I've been working to get accuracy levels near 100%, but no matter how high that number climbs, it never seems like enough. Is there a target number I should go for in order to solve my accuracy issue? -
Mm, well, I've got a KM/FA, and he's probably my most powerful PvE character, capable of doing decent damage to AVs and having survivability to boot.
unfortunately, in PvP, he doesn't cut the mustard, mainly due to the lack of Defence, and as said before, accuracy is my biggest weakness. Kind of hard to get that uber damage on the go if I can't hit anything.
Playing around with a few builds, I mannaged to get:
MA/WP: soft-capped defences, decent resistances, high regen and health, high recovery, decent accuracy, decent mez and debuff protection. Lack of any ranged attack is a major issue for me, as I'm used to Focussed Burst in KM.
KM/WP: same as above, with slightly lower defences, and endurance efficiency is reduced due to the high cost of KM's powers. Main advantage would be the fact that technically, this set has two ranged powers, and all of them reduce damage. Another key flaw is that Kinetic Melee is inherently inaccurate (odd, since the issue is so easily resolved in PvE, but then, it's not competing with redonkulous defences and -ToHit)
MA/Shield: Same as above, but with better debuff protection and worse regen. Also, due to how valuable some powers are, lacks a proper travel power.
MA/Inv: Again, same as above, more like Shield Defence, only with a travel power.
StJ/Regen: Low defences, damage and what-not. Fantastic health, as expected, can't seem to do so well with accuracy on this one.
Due to this being an RP based character too, a lot of sets are kinda out of it, and I've made it a personal rule that the character has to be unique in some way, if not within said character's group of friends, but within my personal roster.
To this end, The only things that remain thematic and 'valid' would be Fiery Melee, Regen, Willpower, Martial Arts, Street Justice, Shield Defence, Super Reflexes and Invulnerability.
Currently looking at a SR build, feel kinda bleh about it, so, I guess that's out. -
So... I'm a big fan of scrappers, generally for the high damage off the bat and decent survivability, and I'm looking to translate that into PvP.
While I know Regen Is considered the best secondary, due to it being ludicrously good at the one mechanic it uses, but I've found myself drawn to other sets.
Namely, I've been looking at Willpower and Shield Defence as secondaries, with Invulnerability coming up close due to high health, resistance and defence possibilities (though, the Psionic hole is something to look into)
As for primaries, I'm trying to steer away from the Weapon sets, focussing on either Kinetic Melee, Martial Arts or Street Justice.
There are two questions I really have to ask before I settle on a build:
1) Which of these would work best as a combo?
2) How does one get such high accuracy at a consistent pace?
I ask the last question because I can't find a way to overcome the defences of my opponents most days, and while I have plenty of Accuracy set bonuses, my ToHit seems to suffer with no method of repair, usually sitting around the 20% mark.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As further reference, I've tried the following builds:
Martial Arts/Willpower
Martial Arts/Shield Defence
Street Justice/Shield Defence
Currently working on more as we speak, but I'd like to have some guidance before I dedicate myself to anything. -
Hey there!
So, while I'm looking to have something made for the sake of PvP, I was thinking of making a Martial Arts/Willpower scrapper.
My main issue in PvP would be my accuracy, as it seems to dip a lot. I've tried a few times to adjust the build, but nothing seems to give me a decent ToHit bonus that can counter the high defences of my opponents.
This is the current build I have, and I'd love it if someone could give me some tips on how to up the ToHit a little.

judging by what Prometheus has been saying, which I won't say due to spoilers, there's a few things that can be seen with the Incarnate trees.
My prediction for Genesis is a single summon, like Lore, but one you can freely customise.
I see Vitae as something more of a toggle, possibly to improve certain stats, unlike Alpha, which is a passive, enhancement boost.
Mind and Omega are something I have no idea about. My original assumption for Omega would be a toggle/passive debuff. You know how in the Keyes Trial, if you stand still too long, you get a gradually building Debuff to your resistance, as well as other things? Well, since that icon had the Omega symbol in it, my assumption is we get something similar to that.
Mind's a mystery to me, must be said. -
Alrighty, after taking Jaso's advice, I switched some things around. Instead of going for Soul Mastery, I went for Mace Mastery for the Scorpion Shield and Focussed Accuracy.
The defences are double the previous build's, with enough speed and maneuvarability to make the defences matter tons.
Ageless is currently in there due to endurance issues, and I figure the higher recharge will permit constant Rain of Fire and Liquify.
As always, suggestions are welcome.

Ageless is usually the favourite, but the lack of heal with Sonic is probably the reason to take Rebirth.
My current build used Psionic Mastery, applying Mass Hypnosis to keep people in place for a little while. It was probably better suited to fight Melee Characters, standing in the Liquified area, with Fire Rain, and using varying applications of Sonic Cage to stop them while I prepare everything, even if it's only a 3 second thing.
While I don't have the 50 yet, I have a 35, and it's been a bit of a pain to get him there, not to mention I'm working to an RP concept, so... the two power sets I'm kinda stuck with. -
Hey there!
I will admit, I usually play Melee Character in general, due to their sturdy nature, but... I'm not a PvPer in the least.
I was, however, wondering if I could get some tips on a PvP Fire Blast/Sonic Resonance Corruptor, if one is at all possible? -
Since one of my characters is a Bard, I'd love to see Sonic Resonance get musical notes as an alternative animation, and a sonic based heal would be great too, though would that cause Bubble players to ask for the same thing?
if a new power wasn't in the cards, perhaps Clarity could come with a Regen boost, or maybe a HoT effect? -
-
Sir Jameson here. I found the event to be really well organised, with a 3-4 team league of heroes alone, the event itself went pretty far. Gonna keep my eyes out for future events, that's for sure.
As for pics, mannaged to snag one myself when XM Radio had the heroes line up for their picture after their triumphant victory!
As a side note, it turns out I am a terrible scout XD
-
While I'm not a PvPer, I can safely say that, like Incarnates, PvP IOs don't garuntee a match win.
If you were here since Issue 13, I think PvP hasn't changed. I keep getting told the Devs walked away so they didn't upset the fanbase anymore.
I think I was fighting against a Stalker way back when I first got to Purple on nearly all of my Incarnate Abilities. While, true, I had no PvP IOs, I found myself unable to defeat him, and he didn't even have Interface at the time.
It all comes down to what powers you take and how you use them, as well as what set bonuses and IOs you take that can compliment your abilities the most. PvP IOs help, but not entirely.
That is, at least, what i can gather from it. -
Well, all that I didn't know, so thank you for saying so! Guess that's those ideas done and dusted with. :P
-
Not sure, but if it does, my bad. Still like the idea though XD
And thank you for the welcome! -
I do like this idea, and can give a lot of individuality to characters beyond their costume.
I feel, however, that Genesis might be the power people are after, simply by the name.
Either way, great idea on the suggestion -
Well, I had a few, but intead of making individual threads for each one, I thought I'd go with a nice big list.
Minor Aesthetics
There are a couple of things that aren't too important, but do bug me a little, and it would be nice to see them adjusted.
The first is the TPN trial. In the cutscene where HD interviews Maelstrom, I feel that the power he uses seems a little... over the top? While his back would be to the camera, I think the Executioner's Shot would work far better in terms of animation than Dual Wield. It seems so much more casual, so much more relaxed, and portrays Maelstrom's confidence more than an exagerated twirl and crouch, which to me, seems almost comical rather than intimidating.
The second would be the the Keyes Reactor Trial. While it seems like a no brainer, I don't think the proper reaction to time being frozen is to start choking (unless it was some kind of comical alternative, in which case, it works perfectly)
While equally comical, it would probably work better to use the frozen animation, as it would have the proper, statuesque appearance to time being halted.
Base Items
I haven't had a chance to see the new Base item list yet, if there is one. I think I remember new stuff was on the way when I saw the Player Summit livestream {thinks}.
Anyway, as for what I'd like to see, there are one or two things that come to mind, but the gist of it would be items that permit us more functionality, such as an AE terminal, with contact hologram and simulation entrance. Another could be the addition of an Auction House conduit, and maybe some invention tables. Going back to Aesthetics, we have a high-tech generator, and a magical generator, what about a steam generator? Perhaps even a thermal vent generator? Instead of just new things that do different stuff, a new skin for the old stuff could be just as sweet.
Story
Perhaps it's been suggested before, but some exclusive contacts and other content for Rogues and Vigilantes would be sweet, as well as possibly some potential to join significant villain groups if you're a bad guy to unlock some exclusive costumes and other items. I'd love it if my Warshade had the oportunity to join the Council.
As a minor suggestion, perhaps a bad guy AV duo called Push and Shove, Push using Energy Blast and Kinetics, while Shove used Kinteic Melee and Energy Aura. Just a thought, more of a tribute to Rant and Rave from Mutants and Masterminds, but I've noticed there is a lack in significant supervillain duos or just supervillains who are unaffiliated. I don't know what it is, but the Rogues Gallery just isn't impacting enough.
Finally, I'd like to see what Prometheus says, considering the events of the Magisterium Trial. He seems oddly quiet considering the outcome.
Aaaand that's my list. I would add all the things I want in AE, but I've done that before, so no need to repeat myself. Let me know what you think, and feel free to put me in my place if I seem to have missed some blatantly obvious stuff.
-
As the point has been made several times, soloing an AV is quite common. Thus far, the only non-trial AV my KM/FA scrapper can't solo would be Akarist, due to his high resistances and regen. Recluse, as of recently, is my latest victory, but it can be a very close call, and I may have had to rez a few times. If we're counting AVs that were made in AE, then throwing a Willpower AV at me will proove to be a hassle, especially if they have RttC.
Considering most things, the bigger achievement would be, as others have said, what difficulty they can do it on, as well as how much they need Incarnate Powers in their builds.
On the subject of Tanks, I doubt they need more damage and/or survivability. Thinking about it, they seem pretty fine as is, and the Bruising condition can help their damage a fair amount, especially if they couple it with a Weapon set to reduce the target's defence, and maybe the Reactive interface to increase that resistance debuff.
The general rule when it comes to classes would be the idea that all of them should be capable of the content availible to them, but not to the point where it robs them of their unique values; by that logic, it should really be possible for all ATs to solo AVs, each one does it in their own way.
That's my two-cents, anyway -
So, with Issue 23 being melded into the main game as of right now, I had an idea that I was originally going to use for my SG, but, hey, chances are you guys thought the same thing.
While the War might not be over for some, the defeat of Emperor Cole marks the fall of his Regime, and chances are, evacuation of said dimension or repopulation would require a significant day of rememberence for those who died trying to achieve it, or were unfortunately caught in the cross fire.
So, my suggestion is to mark a day in mid to late June that can remember those people. Will it get off the ground? No idea. I made this thread to discuss an idea that has probably been suggested and discussed a few times before, and whether VP day will be remembered as an annual holiday is, well, subject to discussion.
What do you guys think? Good, bad, stupid, brilliant, let's hear your thoughts on it all! -
Quote:Hm, that does make sense, and with Hercules and the like, it would be logical to assume that the previous Golden Age of Super Powered Heroes was reffering to the Greek Myths. The Greek gods were incarnates. Sometimes that incarnate power diffuses back into the well, and sometimes that whole concept or meme is passed on wholesale, ala "Incarnate of Zeus/Tartarus."
The game, however references a "higher" being overseeing everything on a number of occasions. The recent DA stuff seems to hit fairly close to Christian mythology, but that might just be my own interpretation.
Plus, I guess it's safe to say that Hequat and Tiellekku are Gods, given their need for Worship instead of a reliance on the Well.
Quote:As I understand it, yes - if you take the WEB OF ARACHNOS novel into account, plus in-game story stuff, he's been trying to synthesize the effects of the Well, both by using additional water taken from it (albeit an impure sample since removing a pure sample was supposedly impossible), using his own blood, etc. (I believe the whole PROJECT: FURY thing relates to it, but would need to double-check.)
Recluse is a technocrat of the highest order - according to him, EVERYTHING can be explained via science/technology EVENTUALLY. And if the Well works on any sort of faith, cutting it off from its source of worship could be seen as a potentially catastrophic event.
So runs my theory anyway.
Michelle
aka
Samuraiko/Dark_Respite
I guess I asked because of an RP hook I have for my character. He's done exstensive research on the Well, and news of this reached Recluse's ears. Whether or not he knows a way to disconnect an entity from the Well is a mystery, even to him, but it would be reasonable to assume the guy knows something valuable, at least. If Recluse was still obsessed with this desire, it would be rational to assume he'd have an interest in the poor guy; leave no stone unturned, as it were. -
Question 1: It's been noted that Recluse seeks (or at least, seeked) a way to disconnect himself from the Well but keep his power. Have there been any significant attempts at this in the past, and is he still trying?
Question 2: It's been a little confusing for me, but some say gods do not exist, they are incarnates. Looking through the Lore, War Witch states Gods do exist, while Prometheus states that Zeus and Tartarus were incarnates. Does this mean War Witch is wrong, Prometheus is wrong, are they both right etc.? From what I've seen, what neither says contradicts the other, it's entirely possible that the rest of Greek Pantheon were infact Gods, and judging by what War Witch states, the Well itself can be considered a God, as it were. I'd just like a little more of a definitive answer. -
Come to think of it, if Wade stole Psyche's powers like he did Statesman, wouldn't that mean that her mind riding schtick be completely wiped out?
Granted, it's possible that she put herself in another body before it all went down hill, but that would be a one way ticket.
And in retrospect, it being a world where superheroes are pretty much 50% of the population in Paragon, and super science is near common place, if Psyche did transfer her mind before she lost her powers, then they could just clone her a new body.
Hell, Cloning is common place in Praetoria, and with the numerous psychics in the city, chances are there'll be one that can carry her over to the clone. Being a mutant, I'm not sure if the same DNA signature would carry over so she;d get her powers back, but for a woman who wants kids, that might not be so bad in her eyes.
Hell, if she has no powers by then, I'm sure Manticore can train her in the ways of the Badass Normal (Apologies for those who are lost in the luring vortex of this link. It had to be done)
