WinAmp HTML file FTW too. Generate one of those and you realise you will never work your way through your music collection.
  2. I doubt NCSoft will change their minds following a rather unceremonious end to an otherwise fantastic game and community. But it doesn't have to end there.

I'm sure the developers have plenty of stories to tell us. They could do a big spoilerfest in the coming weeks but we have to remember, the COH storyline was using the game engine as a means to tell the stories of the Freedom Phalanx, The Regulators, pretty much everyone in the COH universe. And there are formats other then video games out there to tell those stories.

Given enough interest, do you reckon the story could continue in another form such as a webcomic, podcast or other form of story-telling by the devs who still have all those plotlines they couldn't show us.

    I remember....

I remember doing the TP chain with Purramedic to ferry Hamidon raiders from one side of Eden to another.

I remember EuroCore doing a pink conga party through the server for Shallaya's birthday.

I remember how awful my first costume was and have been unable to recreate it.

I remember the pain of early Regen scrappers before I hit the golden Instant Healing + Dull Pain combination.

I remember trying to find ways to get defeated whilst running the Instant Healing + Dull Pain combo (It was hard!!)

I remmeber the sheer rage that PvP used to bring up so I had to stop ("WTF Ranged? F***ing scrapper or what?")

And lastly, I remember getting officer status in the server's Legion of Catgirls chapter as I was the only person from the SG playing on Victory. It never took off!

    Boycott NCSoft

Look, I am no fan of post-City of Heroes Cryptic. I played Champions for all of one week after it went F2P just give it a basic try, and found the world, missions, combat, and overall art style extremely bland and uninspired. Even the villain groups were boring. I know Champions RPG Lore, Cryptic could have done so much more with it, and didn't.

I have no love (or hate really) of Cryptic. But until something official is actually stated on the License pricing being the reason, I'm not tossing the blame anywhere.

If, and I say IF, City of Heroes was still profitable and NCSoft made this decision, there was definitely some underlying reason. Businesses aren't typically in the practice of shuttering profitable product lines. But unless the License or some other issues is the culprit, then the only other reason is CoH was no longer generating what it needed to.

And even if NCSoft ended-up making some off-the-wall decision for our game . . . as an above post said: I'm not going to punish the good people at ArenaNet for it. No, I haven't jumped on the GW2 bandwagon yet, but if reviews remain good the first 60-90 days post-launch, I do plan to get it.
I've already taken the liberty of confronting them on the STO forums over it and the thread never got deleted. Normally if it is true and they have something to hide, such threads get removed pronto. Of course, situation could change, I was expecting a ticking off from the STO mods over it.

    Dear NCSoft...

BRB griefing the tits out of GW2.

    >:|

But TBH ArenaNet should be quaking in their boots. GW1 is superceeded and doesn't have PayG so it won't make money. Other titles like Aion will go soon enough too...
  6. Too late, the bastards waited until after they got our thirty quid for GW2 before announcing this. Knew I should have held off.

    To all of you...

Thank yuo Zwill to you and all developers since Issue #1 and before. Never hit the big 10 years eh?

I'll cherish the memories of this world that followed me from picking it up as a student to waving it goodbye sadly as an office worker! Grew up with it man.

And I will ALWAYS be a Scrapper in any game I play....
  8. It's be an awesome idea, but who would pay the extra patching bandwidth.

(Think of the chance to wear Malaise pants again though!)
  9. I've been fighting most of the day to get City installed on my new Ubuntu install. WoW works perfectly but City is throwing up the error "Unknown Auth Protocol" when logging in.

Spent most of the day getting the patcher to work so it'd suck to hit a brick wall at this stage! It's using vanilla WINE 1.3.5 (Cedega won't even install the game).

Tried the usual sources like WineHQ so you guys are my last hope.

Removable hard disk for backups. I keep my cache files on one for games and keep it up to date with recent patches. Your retail CD on the other hand will be well out of date.
  11. That werewolf costume is pretty awesome. There is also a cheaper way that lets you stand normally by applying padding to a costume's butt, front thigh and back calf to give the illusion that the legs are reverse knee but on closer inspection the leg is straight. Doesn't give as good effects as that rig though.
  12. Another old EU player trapped in an NA server here.
  13. Arson_NA

    Ooooooooh!!!

I'd fill the lounge with Birmingham.
  14. If you have issues specific to the Euro region, post it here. Otherwise post it in the relevant section of the forum else you defeat the purpose of the merger.
  15. Cue increased use of black and red leather costume options?

A great impression on the floor doesn't count.

I did see the one way ticket but at the time, no-one else wanted to move. Large number of servers versus a tiny amount, cutting character slots by a huge chunk (and I know plenty of altaholics who could fill up the EU region twice over at the time).

So think of all the extra shiny character slots with a region merge...

We might venture out slowly and cautiously at first and dash back in the first sign somebody even comes close to contemplating about merely speculating about saying boo in the general region of a goose (or us) before legging it back into our nice coze eu box again.

But as with all kittens, once we've got the measure of this place, it'll be chaos. Cuddly, fluffy, cute chaos, but chaos notwithstaning and we shall be everwhere causing havoc.

Someone hasn't seen The Litter Box.
  18. Oh yeah, Vigilance. I forgot about them! Better then Virtue...but still not quite as good as Victory.
  19. Nooo the dreaded Soon with the funny symbol I can never recreate. :P

And I'm not talking about merging servers, that'd be a disaster waiting to happen. I'm talking making the servers accessible with no need for this EU or NA account stuff, all one region. They said in the past it was to do with EU data protection (stupid MEPs sticking their nose in) but the forum share means some customer data is being shared betweenthe EU and NA regions now?

@Viv: Seen you on Victory channel. Misread it as my SG Channel and thought "Ahhh old SG member (also called Viv) returned?"

Oh and a consolidation would be most profitable for Victory. Then we would be better then Virtue AND Zukunft.

May not be an important topic to you but that's because it doesn't affect you. For Euros who are still in the NA region, it has been a problem for a fair few years.
  21. But but...Arson_EU is me.

    Get me a mirror Charles!
  22. Now that the forums have been merged, are there any plans to merge the server regions? EU servers did appear to be more active during British peak hours but it means losing contact with my European friends on Victory, no global chat or ability to play my toons with them.

Likewise, I have two accounts, my original master NA account and the EU account that was set up as part of the transfer program a while back. Again, one set of toons or the other. The only way to retain access to them would be two subscriptions. Since I have two 50's plus my main with hundreds of badges and all my friends on NA region, EU account gets pushed out. The downside is I am asleep when US peak gets going so I miss all the groups and raids that are formed.
