Looks pretty good, but Mjolnir just doesn't look like something that can cause major damage...

I assume we'll be spending a good portion of the film with "mortal Thor" trying to prove himself worthy of wielding Mjolnir and then having his major super-powered fight at the end. I find myself worrying that we're not going to see Thor as Marvel's Superman, instead getting him as a peak-human who has a magic hammer.

Some time back-- perhaps around David Tennant's second series-- I wanted to show my wife some of the original show. We put on The Five Doctors because I thought it would be neat to let her see the various incarnations together. It was a snooze-fest.

Don't get me wrong-- I loved the original-- but compared to the new series, it seems fairly dull at times. I was surprised at how much of the show was "let's stand here and just talk for a bit. Then we'll go over there and just talk for a bit. Then we'll discuss the dire situation we're in. Then... we'll go over there and talk." It was really slow.

after that, we went back to the very first episode and William Hartnell was still awesome. My wife really liked that first story. So really, it's hit-or-miss, depending on which episode you get.

Overall, I remember the original being great. But sometimes, nostalgia colours one's view of things.

Well, yeah, basically I just want it to look as nice as possible. So when I say "maxxed" I simply mean being able to take full advantage of UM. I haven't really set a budget yet, but I want to pay the minimum to get the maximum. I don't want to pay $3000 for a powerhouse system to find out later that $1000 would have been more than enough.

... but my Search-Fu is weak.

I have been going through thread after thread, post after post, trying to find where the exact system requirements are for Ultra Mode. I am casually looking at buying a new system and if I do invest in something, I want to play the game maxxed out in every category. I just can't find the info.

Could someone take pity on me and provide a link?

I am curious about how they will work this in, story-wise. All these years with only, what, 5 or so Incarnates running around? Now there will suddenly be a population explosion. I am not sure how they will explain it, since they tend to try to put it all into story terms. Part of me would almost go so far as to suggest that we be allowed only one Incarnate per account, but that'll never happen (and I don't really want that, but just view it as a way to control their numbers.)

I only have one character that I will make into an Incarnate, because it suits his story. My other level 50's probably wouldn't become Incarnates because it would make no sense for them. My Stalker, for example, is Natural and I visualise her as being very-highly trained, but not metahuman. She doesn't even have a travel power. I wouldn't suddenly have her become super-powered.

I am another unfortunate soul living in Quebec (although perhaps not for much longer, since Quebec is making it almost impossible for my wife (from the Philippines) to work here, despite the incredible need for nurses) and I could just scream sometimes at the way I can never participate in anything.

Not really contributing to this thread, but I just wanted to gripe a bit, because you have no idea how much it pisses me off.

My laptop isn't even as good as the ones you listed. I can put reflections on Ultra with no slowdown. I can put shadows on minimum with it becoming somewhat choppy but (for me) tolerable. With those two things, it makes a big difference graphically. I could stare at water for hours... So I imagine that either of those sould be ok for you, depending on what your expectations/ desires are, but you certainly won't be able to max things out for the full effect.

I have a question in regards to drivers... I have noted comments from various people that drivers should be updated, especially with the release of Ultra Mode. I am normally hesitant to update drivers because every time I do, things get buggered up.

Well, I decided to try. I wasn't sure the best way to go about it, so I went through my control panel/ device manager. It searched online and found an update for me and automatically installed it (without asking). As expected, I am now having the screen flicker and behave strangely.

From what I can see (I am not the best at this sort of thing...) I have a Geforce 8400M GS. At least that's the only name I can find. I wanted to go to the Nvidia site and see if I can find something to fix it, but from what I saw, I need to buy this "driver detective" and pay for the drivers. I thought they were free (again, really... I am a noob at this).

Any advice to get my computer working right again and properly up to date?

Also-- I noticed that my fan was coming on and that the computer was hotter than usual. I wound up doing a system restore to undo it, but now it is kind of slow...

I only skimmed the thread, so I am sorry if this was answered already, but there seems to be some problem with how this works, or maybe I am misunderstanding it.

I have two accounts. One one, I have level 50s on both red and blue sides. The other account only has heroes at level 50. I went on this account to checki it out, but the VEATS are locked. I am not sure why. I have 2 villains over level 20 on that account, but the VEATS just didn't unlock for some reason.

Well, as I say, I never bothered playing one until recently. I never said that I thought it worked differently... I was just asking if it did.

That's too bad. And I don't really understand why they would do it that way.

Oh, well. Just means I will only ever use the first slot.

Ok, I skimmed through the older posts brought up with a search, but I am still a bit uncertain about something...

I haven't really bothered playing any VEATs until now and so my widow just hit level 10 and did a mission to unlock a new costume slot. I was (story-was) supposed to make a hero costume, which I did. I went back later to make a variant on my original widow costume, but the costume parts are not available. Does this mean that only the original slot can use them?

I really wanted to have 2 different widow outfits, one with the helmet and one without.

I'll pass on that thanks.

While I use it and love it for my ninja characters and one or two others, it doesn't fit at all for most of my guys and I wouldn't want it on them.

I remember seeing these (well maybe not with the CoH name, but I do think so) in the Philippines a few years ago. In addition to the generic heroes, they had 90% accurate Superman, Batman and Spiderman figures, often boxed together. It was pretty odd.

When they first announced that they wanted to put in side-switching a couple of years ago, I made a stalker that was really a hero working in the Rogue Islands. Any time she had a mission against Longbow, or any other good groups, she would stealth past them and only take out the objectives of the mission. In the various stories I've writeen with her, any time she would be sent to take someone out, she faked their deaths and smuggled them out of the Islands to someplace safe. I had hoped to bring her to Paragon somewhere around level 25, splitting her career equally between the sides. Unfortunately it has taken them until now to get the system in place. So she will be the first. Her two cousins who are undercover with her may switch now or later. I am not sure.

I have a controller who I think will "walk the line" between hero and villain.

Beyond that, I am not sure.
