    Yeah, something like that.

(Another MMORPG had a small square above your regular powers tray for these kinds of powers, something like that)

In those giant crossover events, you didn't have every hero in the same place fighting together at the same time the whole time. They broke into smaller teams or pairs, that way everyone got face time. Smaller teams doesn't mean 24-32 people.

And even when they were all together, each character got their moment to shine. Hulk got to hold up a mountain. Captain America got to tell off Thanos. The Flash got to make the ultimate sacrifice. Superman restarted the universe. Batman killed Darksied

    .
And all that happens in trials. Like the last BAF where Ms. Flaming's barrier saved our bacons from those AC9's, or Comrade SMERSH cracked that hilarious joke against Siege.
  3. It would be nice if the grenades/acids either showed up on a special "plot relevant power" icon, or at least was grouped in a separate place from your other 15+ temp powers.
  4. Superheroes gets one-shotted all the time.

So you can have the Incarnate Praetoria War content with just a single team or even solo, now it doesn't have to skimp on the challenge, infact it shouldn't.
The Sutler TF clearly takes place in the context of the Praetorian War.

    Like the new TF's?

What do you consider a reasonable time-frame?
  9. I think the point is that it's not really balanced for the extremes (people who grind until their eyes bleed to be first with the new content, or people who refuse to do the new content) it's balanced for people who do a trial now and then but would still like to advance while doing other stuff.
  10. You can still advance by doing pretty much any content and converting the shards to threads. (It's slower, yes, but it means you advance even when doing other content than the iTrials)

Remember, the time-gated conversion is pretty good.
  11. There does seem to be *something* going on with the alpha, my Fort is hemorraging end when doing the trials.
  12. Seriously, giving us rewards for even partially completing a trial? Very nice.

The thing with Pugs is that they are, well, random. You can end up with the best players in the game just as easily as the worst.

Even assuming threads drop 5x as often as shards did, that's 4 times as much work as getting the very rare alpha slot was. And getting the very rare in the alpha slot was no walk in the park.

And we don't even have a large variety of content to run to get these like we did with the alpha slot. We just have to run the same two trials over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

And from the one I attempted earlier tonight they're not even that fun. I took my purpled out, softcapped fire/sr scrapper into the lambda sector trial, and died at least 5 times in the first 15 minutes.

I finally checked out the combat logs to find out "oh hey, instead of being floored at 5%, these guys have over a 30% chance to hit me"

So instead of giving me awesome new content that makes me feel like my character is a superhero, the devs give me a long repetitive grind that invalidates the several billion influence worth of IOs that I spent several months earning the money for.

    Thanks Devs!
You get at least 10 threads for winning a trial, more if you convert your astral/empyreal merits. And you get components too (I got 2 uncommons, but you can get a rare)

There's also the fact of the matter that the molecular acid is so wildly more valuable and raid-altering that I'm tempted the next time I run to have the entire league or at least a much larger group raid the labs rather than split evenly.

It really wouldn't be nearly as bad as it is if the human bosses didn't spam battle drones. Without their hyper-stacked buffs, Marauder's horde might be surmountable.
No it isn't, we finished it with an 8 man PUG. The trick is getting all the acids in stage 2 (It's not as important to get all the grenades)

It's rare or uncommon depending on level.

No, I don't know why that is either.

  20. The irony of Protean taking over after Manticore is staggering
  21. That would be pretty fun.

Especially if a villain can do it so that you can use the war to grab some incarnate goodies

Perhaps the Dev's need to re-examine Archery ranges. And don't give me "balance" sillyness.
    That would be your snipe.

How so? One tiger pretty much looks like another.

And that's ignoring the people who deliberately go for a uniform-ish look.
  25. I wouldn't go for purples unless you're really a completionist and/or have nothing better to do. The differences between purples and oranges are relatively minor, but the price difference is... Rather steep.
