Ok I'm kinda confused as I haven't read the whole thread but instead of worrying about power animations why not make it where you use it and you get hit you get knocked off the mode of transportation, either it falls over (more complicated version) or simply dissappears.
Have the mode of transportation a self contained entity when your in it you can't use powers or emotes and such. Make it on par with super speed where theres only horizontal movement or just forway movement as I see it most of the streets are horizontal regardless.
Hence it would be almost identical to super speed perhaps add some powers to have some kind of defense. Possibly using a exhaust trail power for motorcycles/cars that would add a disorient, or confuse and stealth bonus to the player. You can give jets/planes/etc a gale like power that knocks enemies back if wanted.
There is other creative powers you can give it but basically as superspeed is considered kind of a broken travel power leave this one the same way. Like super speed it has limitations in the real world its ok to reflect that in game.
Storyline wise there is no reason for a natural hero/villain to have a travel power currently but if we didn't we'd never get teams. So I don't see the problem with making planes/jets a variant of fly and cars/motorcycles a variant of superspeed. Each would come with different powers and would be programmed akin to their currently used variants.
[/ QUOTE ]
But it wouldn't make sense for your car to run through water. It also would not make sense for your car to go sideways (strafing).
As for natural characters having travel powers, whats wrong with using the rocket boots or tech wings? I don't see any difference between fly with rocket boots or using the temp jet/jump pack. -

Sorry! Sorry!
I'm just a big Steamtech fan when it comes to games and media. And reality. I like the smell and the look and the feel of a well oiled machine or an antique music-box. With mahogany paneling in a brilliant finish, polished brass gears spinning in an endless dance against each other to turn the roller and send the chimes ringing... *sighs*
But I also like the harsher side of coal and smoke and ash burning in a boiler, driving an engine, pumping and turning faster and faster until it seems like it might -explode-!
I'm just a Steampunker, after all.

Yeah right, and everyone that has said they remember it being said are all just liars. Just accept the fact that you missed it, or simply don't remember it. No one has ever read all the threads that have been made over 5 years.

There are all kinds of things people swear rednames have said. Brutes will never have weapons because of a fury bug, remember? EVERYONE had seen a redname post that one. Guess what? Never happened, and today brutes have weapons.
For that matter, several things that were actually on the "will never happen due to technical limitations" list are now in game. Custom Weapons for one. We've had strong hints at full power customization in on the way. These are, I'll note, entirely cosmetic changes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gonna call BS on your claims there. the devs did not say brutes would never get weapons. People asked why brutes didn't have weapons and the devs said because of fury generating problems. They never said brutes would "never" get weapons. The players eventually talked them into giveng brutes weapons anyway. It was a matter of they thought people wouldn't like it so they skipped it.
the devs have said that vehicles are just to much work to put into the game. There is also the issue of making them in a way that makes everyone happy. -

So I recently decided to roll a new toon. I'm not one for PL'ing or Farming (but that's my choice).
Here's my problem...
Say in broadcast "lvl 13 LFT" get an invite from a lvl 15 who goes on to form a team. Invites a lvl 11, 9, 2, 25, 30 and another 30. Ummmm how's this going to work?
Oh, they say, we're gonna do a lvl 40 AE farm.
AE says WHAT?? How can this work? No stamina, no travel powers (aside from purchased jetpack and earned ones from Mayhem missions), and limited attacks. And we're supposed to fight a Boss Farm?
MA could not have been intended for this. Shouldn't teams be formed within lvl range with enemies around the same levels? I don't understand.
So here I am, playing an MMO solo. That kinda stinks because the whole point of MMO is teaming up. If I wanted to solo through levels I could just play something on PS.
I know there are going to be those who are going to tell me to do just that, but I just wanted to voice my confusion about AE.
Hopefully this is getting a serious review by the Devs. I know they're fixing some of the things with the new issue, but.......... time will tell.
Happy Hunting

You haven't really been paying attention for the last month or so have you?
Just find out what farm it is and report it as such. Then look in the various global channels to find a regular team. -

After reading this thread up to Phillygirl's response, I felt there was something that needed to be said...
If you feel a mission is exploitive, report it. If a GM feels the arc is exploitive they'll pull it. IF it isn't they won't. Pretty simple.
We as players cannot ban arcs. Only the GM's/devs can do that.
[/ QUOTE ] Problem is, I strongly suspect that not very much evaluation occurs. It seems that if a mish crosses a complaint threshold, it is auto-banned.
[/ QUOTE ]
And what are you basing this on? Fabricated statistics again?
[/ QUOTE ]
No I believe (pardon me i am way to lazy to look it up) it's 5 complaints and the mish gets auto banned. As forbidden put in his posts because of this a GM can then go look at it and if it is actually ok they flag it so it can't be auto banned.
[/ QUOTE ]
Prove it. I haven't seen anything from the devs saying 5 complaints = autoban. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, heavy farming does a valuable public service, It provides endless fodder for inane complaints by nosy parkers whose idea of big fun is constant whining about how others play, and allows some to seek that most gratifying of modern cachets: The Martyr Card, when they manage to frame a argument proving that framing does them harm in some way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats odd. I seem to see alot more whining from the farmers then the anti-farmers lately. -

I would prefer they do extra work not just for the sake of them working, but for the long desired sake of new bloody content in the game! Thanks AncientSpirit!
I dunno Ad, I haven't seen any answers at all in the thread, unless he is responding to everyone by means of a PM, which I think would be a bad idea if more than one person wants to know about the same thing. Or are they answering the questions by putting the info on the COH website...I made mention about how he would answer in the thread so we will find out.
Either way, we will have a new Midnighters story eventually.

Whether or not it will be yours is yet to be seen. Don't get your hopes up, too much chance to be disappointed. -
So because one monster in a tf is bugged and gives merits when it shouldn't you want another monster in a tf to be bugged and give metirs too? Honestly, thats kind of rediculous to ask for.

When AT&T (or any other business) accidently "loses" customer account info they usually send a letter to everyone informing them of what happened, how sorry they are it happened, and the steps they have taken to make it up to you and to prevent it from happening in the future.
They do this whether your particular info was stolen or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your example does not fit the current scenario. They allegedly took action against people whoe did not deserve it. They have no reason to explain themselves to anyone other then the people who may have been inconveinenced. Proplr like to think that they are a community, but they only use that word when it will benefit them. Bottom line is that we are customers and when it comes to customer service that is all that matters. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
On the other hand, I think it IS good policy for the company to discuss their policy or philosophy regarding discipline, including aggregate numbers. For example, I think it would be OK for them to state (with my own made up numbers):
"Recently we took disciplinary action on 157 accounts that had engaged in exploitive conduct inside the mission architect. On further review we realized that we had mistakenly disciplined 15 accounts. Those accounts have been fully restored, compensated, and have our sincere apology for the misunderstanding. We are reviewing our internal policies and systems to ensure that those errors are not made in the future."
I would appreciate seeing a post like that. I'm sure others would as well; and a bunch wouldn't like it all . . . like most things in this forum.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would be one of the ones that would greatly appreciate a note like that being made. Some note, something that let the playerbase know that while they made a mistake in handing out punishments they learned from that mistake and will try to not do that in the future. Its really that simple and it would have done a lot to make the playerbase feel better about what was done.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can see how people would like to see something like that. But, honestly its none of our business. Any disciplinary action taken, even if taken mistakenly like some have claimed, has no bearing on anyone but customer service and the customer concerned.
For example, me and my niegbhor both have ATT wireless. My niegbhor tells me his cell phone has been shut off. I have no idea why unless he tells me. ATT should not have to send me a letter explaining why my niegbhor and X number of other people have had thier phone shut off. Its none of my business and expecting them to let me know about it is ludicris (I am pretty sure I spelled that word wrong.). -

You must be using old math. You have to use the new internet math. -
since they are just fluff, why not make them purchasable with tickets from AE. then they could be either a model of the full size version or just a hologram that looks real.
Also I would love to have one of each GM possible. might be hard to have a mini-lusca or mini hami. -
The cool thing is it might have gone faster with two less blasters and two more defenders.
-
Why not just craft them and put them in the enhancment storage bin?

[ QUOTE ]
I see your point wikked, I just do not agree. I do not have any statistics to back it up, but I don't think all of the powerets appeal to 4/5ths of the player base. It is the variety of choices of sets that makes it great.
I really have no problem making this set available for other origins, but since the other EATs are single origin only I just think it is befitting for a Magic Wand to be Magic Origin. If the devs think it would be OK to make it available to other origins then that is just fine by me.
I have found a way to fit it into the game lore. This E.A.T. would come from a new Midnighter story arc. Since all the Midnight club is really good for so far is going to Cimerora. I would write them a new arc that could tie into the whole Demon Summoning power. There could be a new group of demonic villains that has to be stopped. As a reward you get the wand EAT from the Midnighters. That is just one idea, I am open to other story ideas if anyone has any.
[/ QUOTE ]
Believe it or not, I look forward to reading your finished idea. I enjoy any well thought out and planned suggestions. Just don't get defensive when someone comes in and disagrees with part of your plan. The majority of us are just trying to help your idea appeal to the largest group of players. the more players it appeals to, the more chance of the devs looking into it.
You may also consider workin in what the villian counterpart will be. That will give it an even better chance of being looked at by the devs. -
First of all, I was not disagreeing just to be rude. I was just saying, orgin specific KILLS your idea.
Second, to make this an EAT you have to have a way to fit it into the game lore. There has to be a point. And no, "because it would be cool" is just not going to cut it.
Third, do you really think they are going to create something that 1/5th of the playerbase would use? No, they won,t. In fact if 4/5ths of the playerbase were against or indifferent it would never happen. They try to and things to the game that will make the bigger percentage of the playerbase happy, not the minority. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well thanks for your opinion wikked, but honestly, my power idea is very cool in my opinion, and many people that I have talked to in game agree. As do a few other people that posted about it.
And you can think of wands in the D&D only sense as much as you want, but that doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way you do. The idea of wands have been around WAY before D&D ever thought about existing.
I am not thinking of them in strictly the Harry Potter sense either, as I have said numerous times earlier in this post. These wands could be short or long, and have many different weapon customization power ideas. They could have many different shapes, and be made of many different things. Their Main appeal, is that the powers add new and interesting animations and effects, they mix up many different types of powers, and they are a new weapon for ranged toons. Just because you dislike it, does not mean it should not be in the game, and that is a fact. There are many things in the game people dislike, but they are there. I am sorry to tell you this, but your opinion isnt the only one that counts. Neither is mine, I am just throwing this idea out there because it is something that some people would like. Maybe it is only 1/5th of the games players that would like it, so what. Us magic fans deserve a power a little better than the [Blackwand].
If you, or anyone else has a better idea for a ranged weapon, please create a thread on it. And maybe I will like it. But all I can say is this, my idea is unlike any other power in the game, it is unique, innovative, and well thought out. So please, if you can tell me an idea for a ranged weapon that is NOT a gun, bow, or crossbow, then please by all means toss it out there.
[/ QUOTE ]
So only the people who agree with you should be listened to? Do I have a better idea for a ranged weapon powerset? No, but that doesn't mean I have to support this one.
Your idea was rather well thought out. Except for the whole origin specific part.
Other then that, it is a great idea for power customization. -
[ QUOTE ]
OMG!!!!!!!!!!
We ALREADY HAVE ORIGIN SPECIFIC POWERSETS!
Natural Origin ONLY include: Peacebringers, Arachnos Soldiers and Arachnos Widows.
Science Origin Only includes Warshades.
How is, the idea I am suggesting ANY different than these? It isn't! Did all of you whiners complain when these four Archetypes were created? If you did then im sorry, go cry about it, they are here. Just because you dislike something, doesn't mean it should not be in the game. I only made this post because people were griping about my other magic post. You have the chance to post a better idea. And when you do, I hope a pack of rabid dogs like yourselves tear it to shreds.
Go ahead and sit back in your little comfort zone because this game WILL change, or it WILL die.
[/ QUOTE ]
Peacebringer, warshade, arachnos soldier, and widow are not powersets. They are archtypes. Yes the game will have to evolve or die, but your idea will speed up that death because it is a bad idea. -
If you want to try to come up with origin specific EATs I would support you. But this whole origin specific powersets thing is just rediculous. A powerset should be able to fit with all origins. An EAT on the other hand could be origin specific. I doubt we will see it though.

I would also like the option to turn off email for a character. I never use the in-game mail system anyways.
**
In my opinion overly restricting the trial accounts is counter productive. It obviously is not hindering the RMT spammers in the least, but it is annoying potential customers. This is a very good game with a great community, but how long can it continue to stay that way if it makes the introductory experience for many new people more of a hassle than it's worth?
[/ QUOTE ]
The trial restrictions in CoH are no more restrictive then any other game that has restrictions. -
[ QUOTE ]
This isn't about Demon Summoning Wikked, he was just using that as an example because it is the next powerset comming. The Origin issue we are discussing is a new Magic Wands powerset.
And you shouldnt say that limiting a powerset to one origin is retarted, because the Devs have already done that with Peacebringers and Warshades...are you calling the Devs Retarted, Wikked?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok let me try to explain this. PBs and Warshades are EATs. Your idea for a wand based magic powerset is not worth making into an EAT. It is at best an idea for power customisation. But thats about it.
I brought up demon summoning because he claimed it was a magic only set. I just tried to explain that powersets like that are not origin specific.
Another thing is that your idea of a wand powerset does not fit MY idea of how wands should work. I think of wands more in the D&D sense. A wand does pretty much one thing, ie firballs, magic missiles, types of holds. Your idea of a wand powerset is more along the lines of Harry Potter.
I only say that only to illustrate the point that just because it will make you happy doesn't mean it will make everyone happy. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Need I go on?
The point is, and I cannot emphasise this strongly enough, that almost all contemporary powersets would be just as at home on a gadgeteer tech user as they would be on a skirt-wearing bearded wizard. A wand does NOT fit that description in the slightest, not even by a longshot. Yes, there are magical characters in the game. There are also Tech, Science, Mutation and Natural characters, yet I can't remember the last time we've gotten a set for one of them. People have suggested Power Armour, Cybernetic Transformation and so forth, yet none of them have ever happened.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your right since none of the ones that you have suggested have never happend we should just quit evolving the game...Keep it the way it is so it dies off as an MMMO and find another game to play. I guess the people that suggested Dual Guns for Blasters or the Upcoming Demon Summoning power should never make it to the game either. As Demon summoning for one, implies Magic. I suppose you could work in science if you wanted to. But Hmm? I think we should all just take the I am in my freakin comfort zone and not change a thing attitude and see how long the game lasts then.
Way to go there.
I think Origin related powers are possibly a new evoltution to the game. Maybe not now but it hasnt really been explored on CoH.
Why cant we explore different sets for Magic based Characters and Different sets for Tech based characters? And maybe instead of Wands being required they can be earned (for toons that want them) just like Capes and Auras on magic based toons. They have other unlockables. And as for the new powers suggestions. Again it was a suggested idea. for a new powerset. Of course it would have to be altered some in order to fit into the game just like anything else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why do you intend to limit yourself to only magic origin demon summoners? Maybe you use a tech device to pull demons from another demention. Maybe a science experiment gone wrong altered you so that you can pull demons from another demension. Maybe you come from a race that can summon demons naturally. Heck, you can have mutant with pain domination powers that stole the tech device that allows him to pull demons from the other demension.
The simple matter is that ANY orgin can be made to work with ANY powerset.Limiting a powerset to a certain origin is just retarded. -

It does not mean you can make a villian archtype on hero side with new unavailable in cov powersets. Its about taking a cov character with cov powersets and turning them into a hero and vice versa. -

How about Italian Nachos?
deep fried pasta with shreded chicken, italian sausage, cheese and creamy alfredo sauce. That is some good stuff. I refuse to drive an hour and a half to get some though. -
Honestly I have no problem with them adding this to the game.
As long as its not gonna be a drain on resources and cause them to hold off on things that would effect more people.
I personally think its a complete waste of time. I mean come on, don't want to reroll your 50 to make him a her? What else are you gonna do in this game? This game is all about rerolling and making another alt or 12.
