This happened on my trial to the guy who had Des too. In my own case, I didn't have Des, but my brute was "targeted" so many times by both war walker bosses, that I didn't get much of a chance to fight them at all.
-
I ran an Underground on my brute over the weekend, and received an uncommon. I know for a fact that I participated for the whole trial. I'm now in the process of fighting with support over this, as they claim that I must not have participated fully.
The only thing I can think of is that I was "targeted" repeatedly on both War Walkers, and had to move back out of range over and over again. Of course, being a brute, this means that I couldn't attack for the majority of those fights. If this is the cause of why the game thinks I didn't participate, then I'd like to know if it's intended that I wipe my league in order to register my participation.
We'll see what NCSoft support says, I've been going back and forth with them, and right now this is discouraging me from running any more Undergrounds. -
I got a couple of Basilisk's Gaze sets, 3 LotG sets, and 5 LotG recharges. Not too much compared to some of you folks, but enough to help me make some improvements on a few characters. I don't often have time to grind alignment merits, so this sale is pretty welcome.

As someone who's been playing for a long time, and even has some names that might be attractive to other people, I don't mind in the least if they decide to change to a non-unique naming system in the future. If I run into someone using the same name, hell I'll /em salute them and tell them I appreciate their taste. I honestly don't feel any need to hold a monopoly on the names I have. My friends know me by my global name anyway, so I don't expect them to be confused.

My crab/bane is named Urbane Spider. He's a fashion conscious VEAT. I'm surprised it was free on Virtue honestly, seemed like an obvious pun...

Personally, I love Rad and think everyone should roll at least one character with Rad. However, I already have a 50 Rad/Dark defender, 40 Fire/Rad corrupter, and 35 Fire/Rad controller, so I'm not about to roll any more Rad characters.
My Ill/Time controller is 47 now, and will hopefully be 50 this week. I'm loving the combo so far, and I anticipate it will do well in endgame content. Time is an appealing set for veteran Rad players because it's another set that has a variety of buffs and debuffs, good survivability, and of course nice recharge buff which is much loved by Illusion controllers. My Ill/Time really does feel like a "jack of all trades, master of many" type character. He is a star on small teams, and strong player on large teams. He can shift rather fluidly between control/distraction, buffing/support, and debuffing a hard target, not to mention that he does decent damage. The only downside I can see is that there are *a lot* of click powers to keep track of, so it may not be the greatest combo for folks who get into a scrapper-lock sort of mentaility.
I guess the other downside is that IOing will not be cheap. I haven't even delved into purples at all, but with 5 LoTGs, Miracle/Numina uniques, and a bunch of Basilisk's Gaze, this build is already approacing "really expensive" (for me at least). -
Quote:Are you implying that Time's Juncture is required to play Time in an optimal way?It seems to me the notion of "illusion needs to be played from range" doesn't mesh with Time. Either the illusionist needs to adjust his playstyle to be a little more bold to melee, choose a different secondary or accept that they are playing Time in a far from optimal way.
I would say that defenders, corruptors, and controllers with other PBAoE toggles can get a lot of use out of Time's Juncture, but it seems situational at best for Illusion. I know I dropped it in my latest build, and don't really miss it. -
Quote:Thanks. That's unfortunate. Sounds like fire it is.The defense shield works nicely even though you really shouldn't need defense. The big problem, however, is that Mace Mastery does not have the quickly recharging single target blast that the hero-side APPs have. Fire and Ice are fastest, but Psi and Primal are OK. Earth's Hurl Boulder is too slow.
The Blind-SW-Blast-SW attack chain adds a huge amount to your overall damage. Part of this increase is the ability to kill lower level foes quickly, which allows you to keep the Illusory Damage from Spectral Wounds, Phantom Army and Phantasm. If you take out that Blast, your killing speed slows down and you give more time for the heal-back.
Mace Mastery has a blast with a much longer Recharge. (Base is 24 seconds vs. 8 seconds for the APP blasts.) It has some -Resistance which increases the damage some, but not enough to make up for the Blind-SW-Blast-SW attack chain. You also get a pet . . . but I'm not convinced that can make up for the attack chain, either. -
How is Mace Mastery on controllers? I've got a rogue Ill/Time at 41 and the Ice APP doesn't fit thematically. Fire works for the character concept, but a defense shield would be nice instead of a resist shield.

Pet: Cat
Name: Scrapper McFatty
Powers: Claws/Invulnerability Scrapper (mutation origin)
This is the cat in my avatar. His name is indeed Scrapper, and he lives up to it. He's a Manx mix (mutant) and he interracts with just about everything (the dog, the other cat, the furniture, the rugs) by beating it up. He's a true claws scrapper.
My husband and I mentioned to Positron at PAX that our cat was named Scrapper... and I think he looked at us a little weird. -
I sometimes visit bartleby.com for inspiration. Say I want a time related character, I might search quotations or verse for "time", or related words, and see if anything inspiring pops out. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, but I've come up with a few characters that started out that way.

Regardless of whether this is a bad mechanic or not, there's problem of bad information here. Since this isn't clearly stated in the game information, there's no expectation being set for new players, and there will inevitably be some disappointment.
I honestly don't care whether they allow EATs to be unlocked by Praetorians, but they should make this very clear at the character creation screen. -
Quote:Yeah, my husband and I did a couple TFs/SFs with you, what seems like a long time ago. It's been about a year since we played, but we always found Virtue to have a good community of folks to do TFs with.ive never heard of goons causing trouble think i teamed with you soemtime or another in tf...welcome good goons or is it shades of grey goons?
Right now, all of my Virtue characters are villians, so I seriously need some "good goons" or maybe "grey goons".
Edit: I wonder if "Weapons-Grade Griefer" is available... or is that too long? (Not planning on griefing) -
I can neither confirm nor deny whether there are goons on Virtue.
But if there were goons on Virtue, it's very likely that they would be too busy playing with their shiny new GR characters, to even consider griefing at this time. Also, it's unlikely that they would do anything as lowbrow as calling people "gay". -
Going Rogue is fantastic! Congrats to the devs for putting out great content, and having a pretty smooth launch.
I only wish the new content went beyond the low levels. Please say we'll see more of this in the future for the mid-high levels... -
"While CoH will not have a presence at the NCsoft Booth this time around, we are holding a panel session and throwing a Player Meet and Greet, so come on out to see us! Read on for the details..."
Does this mean we won't be able to pick up the costume code on the convention floor? Will it only be available at the meet and greet (maybe at the panel)? Also, it's concerning that you wont be at the NCSoft booth... -
I'm taking an extended break from CoX right now, but I do glance at the boards now and again, and this thread caught my eye. I had to really think about "what kinds of things would really spark that desire to play CoX again?" Sorry to say, it wasn't puzzles, or tetris, or random maps. Here were some of my initial thoughts of improvements that could get me excited about the game again:
1) Better mechanisms for involving players in stories. I'm thinking particularly of custom maps, scripted events, and cause and effect type scenarios. Once upon a time, a long time ago, I ran the Hess TF for the first time. When my team discovered the "trap" and the room full of robots coming to life, I was really impressed, and I thought "Surely this is the face of things to come for CoX". Sadly, it was not to be.
2) More (interesting) high level content. Ideally, this should go hand in hand with #1. Give us some new story arcs and TFs that keep 50s looking for that next epic adventure, rather than hanging out at the retired heroes home. As an aside, finish and/or flesh out some of the high level content already in the game. I'm looking at you, Shadow Shard. Sometimes it feels like there are too many unfinished story fragments in this game, and some of them could really be a great starting point for our 50s to really feel like heroes (or villains) again.
3) Further improvements for LFG system. Super Sidekicking was a great start, but we could go further. How about a way for existing teams add more members with a "looking for more" feature? It would cut down on those "Do you have room for a [insert AT]?" tells. And since I'm indulging in wishful thinking... another MMO (which can remain nameless) just added cross-server instancing. I know, probably not feasable here, but it sure revitalized my interest in teaming in that game. I have a lot of characters on small servers here, and I don't always want to switch out to a character on Virtue in order to find a team...
4) Give us better tools to find (and share with our friends) the kinds of AE missions we want to play. Sorry, the rating system is useless, and "Devs Choice" just tells us what kinds of missions the Devs want to play. I'm more interested in getting recommendations or shared "favorites" from my friends or SG-mates. I'd pretty much given up on the AE out of frustration, but I would come back to it if it had a mechanism for community/social involvement. -
Are you planning on making it easier for players to find quality arcs that may not be Devs choice arcs? I'm thinking of things like improved search and browse, favorites lists, sharing recommendations between players.

I actually voted for Geek's before my own, because Speeding Through Time is just too damned fun.
I really appreciate everyone who took the time to play The Next War on Drugs. The contest was a great idea, but moreso than winning votes, I think the most valuable thing I got from it was just more plays and more feedback on my arc. I really got some great comments and I feel like I know what changes I need to make, and then I'll mark this one final. So thanks for taking a look at my arc! It will be better off for your input.
Then I'll have to work on the sequel. There's still a boss out there that needs to be dealt with...
Also, I want to say big congrats to all the other winners. As well as thanks to all of the participants for contributing some awesome arcs. I also think it would be kind of cool to have maybe a smaller scale themed contest every month... although I know it would take a lot of work to organize. -
Quote:I can't believe you recommended Liquefactionist! Hah.Check out The Liquefactionist Manifesto [191029] by @anachrodragon. I really enjoyed this one, and should be soloable for a low level.
It's my arc I don't advertise outside of my SG coalition, because I have no expectation that my odd sense of humor will find an audience anywhere else. I'm extremely gratified that anyone else has played it, let alone enjoyed it.
Also Sumericon's arcs rock. -

Big congrats to Fearghas!
I hope there are some more improvements for MA coming up. The file size will be nice, but really the interface could use some serious work. -
If you want to try something short (only two missions) and amusing (I hope), then give this 20s range arc a try when you're in the level range. It's a fabulous tale of high fashion!
Tailor Made

First, I want to say that I really appreciate you guys who have played The Next War on Drugs recently. This is where I have to admit with embarrassment that I haven't played CoX in over a month, and I wasn't even aware of Bubbawheat's contest. Then I logged in this evening and had a bunch of really nice comments on The Next War on Drugs, and had to find out what was going on.
So thank you again for the nomination, and to everyone who's played it, regardless of how you vote!
However, for my own personal vote, I think I'm going to vote for "Speeding Through Time" for Best Mechanical Arc. Geek Boy's arc was the first thing in the MA that made me go "wow this is crazy cool fun."
Edit: So for Best Use of Mechanics:
1) Speeding Through Time
2) The Next War on Drugs (might as well throw my own in there after Geek's)
Great idea for hosting these awards. Nice work everyone on some very excellent arcs. (Now I'm going to have to figure out my votes for the other categories)
