  1. I'd like to state, that I really hate the idea of "hulking out" your pets with serum. It just doesn't feel right for the set. Actually Dz131's idea I like quite a bit and would change/add to it like this.

Replace serum with a "Promote" power. This ability would have a fair endurance cost and long recharge, very long. Basically it would be a third upgrade for either a single pet or for a group of them.

For instance, Promote the Commando and he gets the Tactics, , an additional AoE of some kind, and a small flat bonus to Damage and Resistance

Promote the Spec Ops and they get Manuvers, a cryo snipe or taser, and again a few small stat increases

Soldiers would get Assault, a grenade attack, and the medic would get basically the triage beacon in a toggle aura form, and again small stat increases.

I didn't think that through much but you get my idea. Personally I feel people underestimate Mercs, however Serum is still horrible. I think the worst part about it is lets say you're fighting a tough EB, you toss your commando serum, he lives, all the other soldiers drop like flies. Now you're fighting with one slightly more damaging T3 pet, sure he isn't going down but you aren't doing much.
  2. Yeah I don't complain much, I don't mind server downtime, but this is starting to get old. I just fail to see why the servers are struggling so much, this late into the games life.

    Energy Aura?

So it's a few bad powers, or in Stalkers case one, and a Psi hole? That doesn't seem to bad, unless I'm still missing something. Well that and that it's not positional defense.

    Energy Aura?

For what reason though? That is to say, I can see why it would be easier to stack positional but just set to set comparison don't they come out fairly equal with all the toggles/passives factored in?

    Energy Aura?

Why exactly is this set a joke to most people? Aside from Repulse most of the powers seem like your standard defensive set, and energy drain and converse power seem great for dealing with high endurance primaries. Is there something I'm missing or does it just not perform quite as good as other defense sets?

Is it better for some ATs then others?
  6. Thanks guys. He's still fairly low level so I should be able to salvage most of them with just my numerous vet respecs and earned ones.
  7. If I have a character that I'm considering deleting to make room for another one, and just because I don't really want them, is it possible to salvage my IO investment in him in any way? It's not too much but I haven't dabbled in IO sets on many characters and he's one of them.
  8. That fixed it for me, I'm curious did this just start recently or have people had this problem for awhile? For me it started last night, and oddly enough the same time tonight.
  9. I had this idea the other day as a serum replacement. Turn it into a "Special Equip" power. And this power could work many ways.

One way I was thinking was just having it be a single pet buff with a modest cooldown/duration that would grant your pet fire damage with all his attacks in the form of incendiary ammo.

Another idea would be have it equip the "squad" you pick, E.G. the two spec ops, one commando, or 3 soldiers. Soldiers get incendiary rounds, spec ops get cold, commando get's toxic.

Just an idea that would help solve the heavy resistance problem along with the useless serum power.
  10. Here's the real problem with gale. It causes you to gain aggro in a large cone, the idea is that it reduces damage taken but at the same time draws too much attention to yourself at low levels when your pets lack AoEs. I'm not saying it's bad, but it needs a bit of time to mature.

That said, I've always hated the forced choice of first powers and honestly don't understand why they do it.
  11. I actually haven't noticed this on my Mercs/Traps, possibly because I tend to keep me and my pets in practically melee range anyway. However I have noticed on my Bots/TA that they started to charge in like idiots.

On the bright side, at least now your Spec Ops are getting use out of their melee disorients?
  12. I'm not sure on the heal numbers, but I find the heal itself to be quite a bit more powerful then the shield numbers. The Ember Shield gives a really small amount of resistance that probably wouldn't scale well with slotting.
  13. I'd agree with Storm. I'm not sure on the actual numbers, but three snowstorms combined with three hurricanes means the very few attacks that even go off would almost always miss. Plus three hurricanes would make for great push control over groups.

Three Thunderstorms? Who even needs minions with those?
  14. That's actually quite scary to me Gulver. Just last night I keep swapping characters because I just couldn't seem to hit anything, How often do you really miss 3 Assassin's Strikes in a row on a +0?
  15. This is really the kind of message that should be on the launcher to read while you update.
  16. Incredible, a bunch of great ideas and even illustrated in nifty screenshots. I particularly like the team leader commands, lately for me I've been having troubles keeping teams in one group because people apparently don't read chat or check their overhead map. But big pop up text in the middle of the screen is not so hard to ignore.
  17. I would like to put my vote in for Serum. Gives your Commando a godmode he will never need, has an incredibly long recharge, and then crashes his endurance making him quite useless after being useless from the power itself.

It's even worse compared to the other similar MM powers, Gang War, Flash Bomb(Or is it Smoke?), Soul Extraction, even Repair will get much more use then Serum.
  18. I'd like to agree with the sentiment that Serum needs a fix much sooner then repair, which is actually decent. The idea of making repair a "primary" heal doesn't fit properly with the rest of the powers. Your secondary should provide a spammable heal, if it is that kind obviously.

Serum is hardly unique, it's a generic godmode power. The only thing unique about it is the animation which is only used by Crab Spiders and Mercs. It doesn't even need a major design change, most everyone agrees up the damage bonus and lower the recharge. You can even greatly lower the resistance/defense buffs, you're obviously throwing it to the commando and how often does he actually die?
  19. I'm going to guess that it's a cybernetic attachment, but is not controlled by thought alone. I'm sure you've all noticed that when you use a limb your character seems to mimic the action with his arm, I'm sure it's a kind of mental link between their real arms and the spider arms.
  20. Anyone with a high level Sonic Blast character that could figure out all the sonic attack sounds?

I used the list provided by thingamajig, http://cohsounds.nerdherd.com/, but I don't even have a level one to test the sounds for!

Hey, you know you could combine all the flavors into one .gif avatar. Put a couple second delay between changes and show off the work that way.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Make that delay a tenth of a second, and I'm totally behind this. It should be a seizure-inducing showcase of raw talent.

Must...scan...drawing! Bah it wouldn't look good unless I did the whole draw over thing, it's just a guy unconscious in his chair from the awesome avatar that sent him into a trance.

    I love PuGs!

Pugs are so awesome, like bulldogs compressed into a smaller space.

I'm extremely disappointed that an image of Statesman would be used in such a way. I know that we designed City of Heroes to appeal to "children of all ages." My proudest accomplishment with the game is that many parents (including my brother) play with their children...sharing, I hope, the same joy for the comic book world that I've had ever since I was 8. I cannot express the shock that I felt seeing that a character created by Cryptic would be used in the same sentence as Columbine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To be frank, when I saw the shot of Stateman in the trailer, I thought it heavily undermined the credibility of the film because of the very reason you give. How a game that espouses Superman-esque morals is in any way comparable to the [censored] and murder of everyone's favorite example of violent video games is beyond me.

And don't get me started on the logic or lack thereof behind the flight simulator-9/11 conspiracy theory...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much. The entire thing was just plain and simple fear mongering. I find it disgusting.

People always have to have a scapegoat. This time it's gaming. Thing is, it's up to the parents to police what the child is and isn't exposed to. If more parents would do that, this kind of crap would be history. If your child isn't ready for violence, don't expose them to violent types of media. Simple, no?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The damnedest thing about that flight simulator thing. I actually kept trying to fly certain planes in between the Twin Trade Towers. Most notably the only one I could get was a 737 which kept blowing up on the wings!

Ah yes, Flight Simulator 98...I must be a terrorist, or the game taught me how to be! Not like I'd try stunt flying a jumbo jet in real life, that's just crazy

    "Moral Combat"

You gotta love how the "You are what you pretend to be" comes right during a clip of a WW2 game showing a N -azi camp!

Looks like I'm a member of the M.E.C. now, oh and the U.S.M.C, oh and the Peoples Army...And the Spetnaz, and the Seals...Never bought any booster packs...
