First try and it worked, what is this. It wasn't even that far from the top. o_o Cheers for this. -
This is so much more win than the actual title. Do want. x)
Also, yeah, it's from the old April's Fools joke. The Limitless Radial Freeeem came much later. -
Trials by miles.
This is mainly counting the old trials, though. Cavern of Transcendence, Abandoned Sewer Trial, Eden... And the respec ones, although they're a bit more mini-TF.
One unique instance with unique tasks over a bunch of generic maps maybe leading to a unique map/foe.
Still sad redside doesn't really have trial content. Oh, and I love the incarnate trials, but I hate doing them. Why is this? Well, cool and unique in multiple ways ... but that kinda goes away when doing them for the umpteenth time in a month, just trying to get that darn reward.
Here, have a hierarchy-list of my opinion.
OldTrials > SFs > TFs > iTrials > zone events/raids. :V -
I mainly play redside (actually it's a pretty even split, but redside feels more homely), and I find that the 14-32 range is where a character really gets into their sets. Particularly levels 22 (SOs), 24 (power), 25 (more room for insps), 26 (power), 27 (more SOs) and 28 are just awesome.
Then it slows down a bit. 30 is a'ight, 32 is either really cool or really lame depending on sets, but it's also fresh SOs again. Then the Levels of the Many Slots come. I use to find these lame (it's not powerrrrrrrs), but now I find them more on the "incredibly useful" side. Then tier 8 and 9 from secondary and then epics and it's all pretty cool to me on the power side. The diversification is not that harsh (if all else is slotted up satisfyingly, MOAR recharge). More slots in more powers is lovely.
Regarding content... The 30-40 content redside feels a little lackluster. I love the 40+ arcs, though. So, yeah, happy enough. I'll just team a bit more in the 30-40 range to skip through 'em a bit faster.
I don't actually bother with the content blueside. Croatoa is cool, but mostly I'll just run a TF or tag along on a team.
As a side-note, most of my characters "sit still" for a while in their teens/twenties. Not quite over that point where they become awesome, not quite down in that area where levels just come raining down. 35+? Usually a pretty smooth ride to 50 if I don't lose interest (and no, not running endless ITFs; it's just a point where the characters typically gets really fun to me and therefore I play them more). -
I not only survived, I spent the day drawing. \o/ Which was nice, haven't felt like it lately and got a new forum signature out of it.
Was great to see the surge of new characters popping in on Union and the global channels there. Suddenly three hours (of busy broadcast and channel chatter) were poof-gone.
Be seeing y'all around the joined community. /o/ -
Union Chat ftw. :P
Will look forward to seeing a bunch of new faces.
Also, it's always feasible to roll a new toon... But if you just wanna get right in there, higher lvls and joining events and such are probably the way to go. -
Quote:My AR/Mental blaster is a possessed Nemesis automaton. Had a hard time deciding whether to go with tech or magic origin, the psi stuff being from a spirit but the gun 'n his body and all being tech. o:Let's just say that most people are going to be more comfortable classifying Psionic Powers as being either Mutant or Natural in origin, rather than Magic or Tech. A case can be made for Psionics being the result of a Science origin too, but that's rarer (and usually involves Countess Crey for some reason).
Tangent aside, I too found it weirdish that there was no real magic about. Certainly felt odd to run a magic character through it. But eh, not fussed about knowing why. If we're lucky an explanation will crop up eventually. -
I'll probably be all over the place eventually (that many character slots just can't be ignored), but for the most part I'll stay on Union. It's home. \o/
-
On iTrials, the damage output from my dark/pain corr feels somewhat negligible (until reinforcements where she can happily Anguishing Cry+Void+cone+cone+cone away), but other than that she's still my happy little toolbox of things to do, and other people becoming more toolboxy too doesn't invalidate that at all, it just means I do other things on her.
And for months I'd been saying mez was her only true weakness. Clarion<3
Regular lvl 50 TFs and SFs are getting a little too trivial, though. And steamrolled. Team a lvl 45 character trying to lvl up with a team of a handful of incarnates and some regular 50s doing a WST, that character isn't quite so useful.
But really, my only annoyance with the incarnate powers is how people whine about not having them when exemp'd down to a lower TF/SF. "Yeah, you've been yapping about how cool your judgements are for the past two missions and how they'd tear through this Moonfire. Grrreat. Such interesting conversation."
Not everyone's worshiping their 50s because of this. I still have altitis and there's still reasons I make sure my characters work when exemp'd. -
Quote:This, this so much. The only thing with this vs invention salvage though is that you have to plan better. If I get a Hamidon Goo from a drop and later I happen to find out that I need a Pangean Soil, no big deal - I go to the market and sell one and buy the other. If I get a very rare reward table and happen to pick the wrong piece of incarnate salvage, I've lost a good deal of value - I now have a piece of purple salvage I may not be able to use which would make little sense to break down, AND I still need another bit of purple salvage that I either have to get lucky (again) to roll or have to build.
I like the flavours and that each of them has a tiny description (even if none of them make any sense what-so-ever to get from the trials); but when it's untradeable salvage and there's handfuls of options whenever a reward table pops, it's just grr-worthy. The rares and the uncommons, maybe, since those can actually drop (from getting badges), but with the commons, the many commons, it's just derpy.
Making decisions ahead of getting the reward tables and writing those decisions down to have 'em handy later is how I settled on dealing with it. :/ -
Quote:Any chance I can get a recap of this slew of in-jokes? I think I've been missing out.As far as Fusion and Jane Temblor go, I personally didn't find them funny. They're an in-joke based on another in-joke which was never funny to begin with, and Duray's forced fourth-wall-breaking humour doesn't help. That's kind of why I didn't want to post on the subject - I have little positive to say.
-
:O Where?? *hides*
But yeah. \o/
Looking at irl this downtime window actually fits what I was planning better, but it's still annoying they didn't announce it. :< -
Yeah, updating the "this is when they'll be down" info that shortly before taking them down is not cool.
On the other hand, we managed to seriously rush through a Moonfire in a slightly epic way and finish about a minute before the servers went. It was beautiful (but annoying that we had to). -
I've seen some really pretty ones out there, but as for use as something... Dark rad blast coloured dark red/original pain domination. So much blood. Such lovely blood. Irradiate and Nullify Pain in particular.
Regen also, as mentioned previously, look nice in blood tones.
Also dark elec armor, can look rather wormy. Like worms crawling all over.
Kin powers (both support set and melee) look swell with watery colours. SR is another nice one in watery ones.
Purple empathy fits default psi powers nicely.
Fire control's many rings of fire look neat in golden tones, like some small suns scattered on the ground. -
Quote:I agree. In retrospect I kinda skipped over what I meant and made it sound a bit too generalized - having enough Accuracy enhancements is the biggest thing to "slotted for it".Successful TFs at +4 is more a matter of team coordination than slotting. A well-timed Fulcrum Shift, or an Empath who knows who to give Fortitude to, will give you more of a boost than all the Incarnate powers together.
Generally good builds (both in power choices and slotting) are a big help if you're running +4s with people you don't know, though. There are lucky PUGs where people click - there are also ones where they don't, and staying alive in those is harder than when you're working as a well oiled machine fueled by a team-wide imaginary Fury bar.
I think I trailed off there. My concern would be that most PUG TF/SF groups would end up going for those extra rewards with the still-leveling ones (or people who just aren't all that survivable for one reason or another) caught up in the hurt. It could very well be a ridiculous and unreasonable concern, but it's there enough for me, personally, to not really like the idea of putting that extra shiny at the end of the difficulty. You already get increased inf from the tougher foes. (Right? I'm not imagining that, am I?)
That said, I think it'd be lovely if the actual challenge settings available on trials/TFs/SFs awarded something if you complete with them. Their current "MO or difficulty for painful lulz" is kinda ... flat. -
While I enjoyed running TFs and SFs at +4 prior to incarnate powers, I'm not sure this would be a good idea. Too big a chance for it to become the normal way for incarnate people to go, leaving the ones who aren't slotted for the task a bit behind.
Run +4 if you have a team that thinks it's a cool idea, enjoy the larger inf drops they yield and so on.
Oh, and you still earn shards during all them things you could run at +4 even if you don't. They kinda equal threads, even if the conversion is slow. (Beyond making things difficult for people who were hoping to actually get nice use out of their hoarded shards there's really no point to separating those currencies.) -
Quote:I'm sure quite a few people have recognized Nightstar's aura as the Tendril one - consisting of tendrils similar to the ones used in Dark Blast, Dark Melee, etc.On to Nightstar.. Now I think we can all agree its obvious where they got the design for the Vickies that we frequently find in our face during this Trial. Miss Star is certainly the inspiration for her support. One thing that I have wondered about though ... Exactly why does a robot, supposed devoid of feelings or any need for self gratification, need to wear lipstick? My other question is .. did Nemesis help design her? I thought he didn't exist in this version of earth and yet she does seem to be smoking in her scenes. No I don;t mean a cigar.. smoke is seeping from all over hjer body? After the BAF trial she may want to have her wiring looked at because that can't be good.
The specific reason is that: "Nightstar draws her near-infinite power from another dimension known as the Black Shroud."
Oh, and the lipstick or whatever is easily explained with her creator putting it on her for one reason or another.
Also, she's not pausing constantly. She's denoting -emphasis- with hyphens on both sides of a word. It does sound silly to emphasize that many words in a row, though.
I generally really like the cutscenes, until I'm doing something with a cutscene several times in short succession. Then they get boring. I'm a bit on the fence with the BAF one in particular - due to slow loading times I've still not seen the very beginning of it, so occasionally I'll get just a few more seconds towards the beginning and be all "yay ". The rest of it is loooong. -
Seen two rares (both from BAFs where the only thing I did different from other BAF runs I was on was doorsitting and range-coning away at everything coming out), one uncommon (from a Lambda I was leading and therefore spending a good amount of time typing through Oo) and too many commons to count. I dunno. Feels sorta random, but if so my luck makes me a little sad.
Oh, and Interface does unlock faster than Judgement. It just does. -
Disagreeing on the BAF strategy (judging by Damz' post it's a Union thing to do so :P), but this post. I tend to get a small laugh out of the global channels when they have 5 or more people all wanting to do the same thing but no one willing to start grouping up the team. Wish more people realised it's not all that hard to lead.
Quote:Everybody knows that when something new comes out, a lot of people would rather join a team with a leader with will guide them through it rather than just jump in blind folded.
Tuesday/wednesday thats what i did, knew that a lot of people wouldnt want to risk being seeing as a bad leader if they failed terribly so for those two days i led them nonstop with a rotation of people who had never done it before constantly.
This was a very positive move because the people who at the time were like "no i dont want to lead, no chance, no way" are now leading their own trials or at the least offering advice as one goes along.
Thank you very much for that, btw. I had no experience with either of the trials before they hit live and the first few PUGs did not go too well. Then you ran those BAFs. Boy did we fail that escapee bit many times before we had it (but then we had it ); it was a good learning experience. -
Quote:Speaking of this sort of stuff, how many usually run the signature TFs because they're fun? I groan a little bit every time I realise I have a character I wanna run through Citadel's for the accolade. D:
And anyway my point is, I'm not sure you can say that finally tying substantial rewards to a multi team structure is a bad direction for the dev team to go with multi team content. Yes, it has to be fun, and yes, it should be done because its fun. But TF's aren't just done because they're fun. They're done because they give substantial rewards. Multi Team content, up until this point in the game, were not only some of the hardest to put together, but they were also some of the LEAST rewarded content. -
Elfis, you honestly sound like you've been lucky. I've been on BAFs that ranged from mindwasheds escaping everywhere to 9CUs overwhelming people to defeating the AVs with 14 seconds left on the timer and right up to the MO requirements being met.
I like the new trials. They give me the same jolt of "ohshi-" as the Abandoned Sewer Trial (which has been my favourite team activity pretty much since I got to try it out) - that need to work to-bloody-gether or actually have consequences beyond "Oh, uhm, hosp, use more insps, go!", and I like leading these sort of things. There's a purpose to dishing out strategy and a beauty to a large group of people working together that very much appeals to me.
I do not like the progression in the shinies, though. I've been going a tad mad with the grind on my main so I could be done with the "I wanna say I finished it" - then I realized what very rares cost. Well eff.
Just look at my "shopping list" for what I'm still lacking (with two rares and two uncommons slotted)...
Clarion Partial Core Invocation
Biomorphic Goo / Common / 20 Threads
Nanotech Growth Medium / Common / 20 Threads
Ancient Texts / Rare / 8 e-merits/luck
Warworks Partial Core Improved Ally
Arcane Cantrip / Common / 20 Threads
Enchanted Sand / Common / 20 Threads
Ancient Texts / Rare / 8 e-merits/luck
Void Radial Final Judgement
Void Partial Core Judgement / Ability / Crafting
Void Core Judgement / Ability / Crafting
Void Judgement / Ability / Crafting
Genomic Analysis / Common / 20 Threads
Enchanted Sand / Common / 20 Threads
Arcane Cantrip / Common / 20 Threads
Detailed Reports / Common / 20 Threads
Arcane Cantrip / Common / 20 Threads
Worn Spellbook / Uncommon / 60 Threads
Genomic Analysis / Common / 20 Threads
Semi-Conscious Enegy / Rare / 8 e-merits/luck
Nanotech Growth / Common / 20 Threads
Meditation Techniques / Common / 20 Threads
Forbidden Technique / Very Rare / 30 e-merits/insanity
Won't be bothering with very rares for more than one of the four if they remain that costly. The raids, though. Fun and shiny. Limited doses probably preferable, but fun they are (imo).
Quote:The fact is that if you're running the trials multiple times, it is a grind. Now, whether or not you enjoy the grind is another question. I have two t3's and one t2 slotted up and overall have been enjoying myself.
I do think the incarnate trials should be the fastest way to gain incarnate powers/rewards, it makes sense. However, compared to how the alpha slot was setup, I do believe they took a step backwards. There are 4 times the incarnate slots and way less content to do in order to get these new slots in a reasonable amount of time. I think adding the option for threads to drop in regular content at a reduced rate will go a long way.
In total agreement here, btw. -
We so went and did this (on Union), and it was cool cos we weeded out the impatient folks that couldn't be bothered traveling to Neutropolis and then waiting upwards of ... forty minutes or something (for the first who joined). Heck, it might even have been longer. But cool run and felt way more right to land at the actual facility afterwards than being flung back out into a pocket dimension. :P
-
If in "best" I'm allowed to read "favourite" there's not a fraction of doubt that it's my main, a dark/pain corruptor.
She doesn't exactly excel at anything, but she's so versatile even when exemp'd down. Buffs, debuffs, soft control (and ST hard control), HP regaining (both self and allies), attack chain made of cones, can ghost, can tp, can solo decent sized mobs or tough mobs (too many tough mobs tend to hurt a bit), has snipe and can pull AVs safely even on MOs thanks to Phase Shift, can tank if fed just a few insps... Incarnacy is rounding out the toolbox even more.
It's lovely and means she's hardly ever stuck doing the same thing in every team. Versatility keeps my altitis from twitching. \o/ -
Quote:This was actually what I've been assuming is happening - I haven't "had time" to go stop by Ouroboros to listen through that weird new guy's rants, and when on a raid I don't exactly have time to catch the non-league/team chatter that isn't in a cutscene, so to me it really has just been a gang of superpowered beings deciding to take the fight to Praetoria.Hell, they could even had us organize the trials, as if our characters decided on their own volition to organize themselves into several teams and go over to the other side to take on the praetorians; I mean, we even just appear outside Lambda and the BAFT, no group drops us off. the voice-over could just have been the omnipresent narrator.
And I've liked it that way. :3 -
13 others? But we should totally try this. I'm sure it'd be possible with enough charismatic yelling on the channels.
