Even though I have one at 50, tankers are my least favorite to play unless I am on a team. If I'm not on a TF or something else that requires a team, I tend to solo, so yeah. My tank will likely sit idle.
I do have a 50 of every AT (yeah, I'm OCD), and there are definitely ATs I love more than others. Scrappers are number one for me, I love them to death. I can't play any other Mastermind other than Bots/Traps, I've tried. Defenders are near and dear, as an Empath was my first 50, to go along with my husband's Scrapper. It took me awhile to warm up to Brutes until I rolled a DM/WP and fell in love. Same with Stalkers until I found DB/Regen. Sometimes it's not a matter of the AT, it's a matter of finding a power combination that works for you.
The other ATs I can take or leave, I'll likely not play them unless it's for roleplay.
As for the HEAT/VEAT debates... I think it took me the longest to level a Peacebringer, as I rolled one right when they were released. I never disliked them, but sometimes they were a little boring to me. I did like the challenge of the different forms. I vastly prefer Warshades and all the great things they can eventually do. VEATs are wonderful once you get them to level 24 and beyond, I like Soldiers and Widows about equally. -
I need to grab a more recent screenshot! He now has the Valkyrie armored wings.
Titanium Falcon by Nonsequiturlass, on Flickr
My main hero, Titanium Falcon. Former male supermodel, he was pulled into the heroing world by modeling a super suit... which he then got stuck in. He eventually figured out how to remove it, but by then he realized he was hooked on being a hero, so a hero he stayed, doing some modeling work with Icon on the side. Rumors are flying around that he's been spotted in the Rogue Isles recently.
Been playing him since early 2005 here on Virtue (my first server was Protector, from back at launch). -
I have a few homages. Oddly enough, my main hero isn't an homage, though after seeing Chris Evans in the Fantastic Four movies, it was like *he* was an homage to how I RP Falcon.
They are as follows:
Red Luna--Batgirl
Blue Marksman--Green Arrow
Holly Harlequin--Harley Quinn
Vikki Vines--Poison Ivy
Steel-Siren--Iron Man
Princess Mera--Prince Namor
My Warshade was influenced by Aeryn Sun from Farscape, but that's not a comic character.
Yeah... definitely more of a DC Comics fan. I might have one or two more, but I am not fully awake yet. -

I don't think I could ever really leave this game... not until they pull the plug anyway.

Ok, maybe not THAT long ago, but six years ago I started playing this game, having never touched a computer OR roleplaying game before in my life. I had grown up first with the Atari, then the NES, but that was about the extent of my gaming. So when my husband bought this game at launch, I was scornful at first. I mean, computer roleplaying games?? Those are for gaming nerds, amirite? And I am NOT a gaming nerd, no sir. Well... I didn't used to be...
I am, however, a GINORMOUS comic nerd. I have been surrounded by superheroes since I was a kid. I love everything about comics, from the cheesiest Superman stories to the grittiest indy books. It's one of my favorite story mediums. When my husband made me sit down and play with the character creator, I was hooked. I believe my first character was a catgirl, haha. We played on the Protector server at first, until I got sick of the grind, and almost left the game.
Then, I found this server, and roleplay. There was a wonderful, awesome player on Protector who would roleplay with me in whispers, and she is really the reason I got interested in it. We had to RP in whispers because not many people RP on Protector. She ended up coming over to Virtue a little while after I did, and she's still here to this day, and is still one of my best friends in the game. But I digress.
The reason for this post is because I got my tanker, Dead End Allie, to 50 tonight. Technically, she is my oldest Virtue character, though her badges won't reflect that, as she went through a couple rerolls. But, she was the first character I rolled here, back in 2005. She was also the last character I had to get to 50, to have one of each AT, both hero and villainside. I'd like to stress that none of them were powerlevelled, unless you count spurts of double XP weekend, and even then, I may have only gotten a handful on any given character. Mostly I just got by on large teams and sidekicking.
Since playing CoH, I've played a couple different MMOs... and I always come back to this one. Because it's fun. And the community (yes, that's all of you!) is awesome. I am really looking forward to Going Rogue and the new content that will bring.
Sorry this is so long winded. I'm gonna close with a list of my characters, most of them I still play. Now that I have one of each AT at 50, I'll likely focus on RP and story writing until Going Rogue comes out.
So, thanks again to this wonderful community. The best PUGs are on Virtue, by far. Thanks to everyone in the CapeRadio channel for their help with my various characters!

I'll have to check it out, that's awesome! I have to admit, I became a fan of the series simply because Mike Allred did a cover, I think for an annual. I'm a HUGE Mike Allred fan, and because of his cover, became a fan of the book rather quickly. Been picking it up ever since.

Hi! I love your art, it's so fun!
Here's a linky to some headshots of my main hero, Titanium Falcon
http://www.rootology.com/images/andi/TFicons/
Short bio: Brad Peters, AKA The Titanium Falcon is a supermodel, husband and father by day, superhero by night! Prior to becoming a hero, he modeled for Calvin Klein, Guess, The Gap, and Levi Jeans. Now he has an exclusive contract with Icon.
I included non-costumed headshots cause his glowy eyes kinda wash out his face a little.
Woo! -
I have a tank I could bring to Sister Psyche and Moonfire on the 10th. Her name's Dead End Allie.
-
Sister Saturn, level 35 Gravity/FF Controller. Costume: Techy Stuff
She is from the 31st Century, sent back to stop... something from happening. She's not telling. She's starting to feel the loneliness. She's trying not to get involved with other people, but it's getting harder. She's not trying to *save* the future per se. The group she belonged to in the future pinpointed the moment the world changed to set in motion the situation the world is in in the 31st century. She's also starting to doubt that changing the catalyst she was sent back to change would make the world any better... in fact, it just might make it worse... -
At 60 months, would be higher if not for a couple breaks from the game.
The first character I played to 50 was an Emp/Dark on the Protector server, made to play with my husband's MA/Invuln. Ahh... the memories of perma-unstoppable...
After that, I heard tales of roleplay happening on Virtue, so I peeked over there and rolled my Claws/Invuln Scrapper, who quickly became my favorite character, both play-wise and character wise. Roleplaying really sparked my creative juices, and I ended up with two accounts just to hold all my alts, both hero and villain. Of course, after I get a couple characters on the other account to 50, THEN they give us more character slots.
I am trying to get one of each AT to 50. Heroside I need a Tank, villainside a SoA and a Brute.
50s on my main account, all on Virtue Server:
Heroes:
Titanium Falcon: Claws/Invuln Scrapper
Lacey Liberty: Empathy/Energy Defender
Zephyr Starr: Empathy/Dark Defender (xferred from Protector)
Lil Nova: Energy/Energy Blaster
Toxic Marrow: Spines/Regen Scrapper (xferred from Protector)
Red Luna: MA/SR Scrapper (xferred from Protector)
Isaura Darkstar: Warshade
Aurora Lightblade: Peacebringer
Villains:
Craftswoman: Robots/Traps Mastermind
Black Cataclysm: Dark/Dark Corruptor
Vikki Vines: Plant/Thorns Dominator
Dearth: Dual Blades/Regen Stalker
Operative Grayshade Widow (dual specced Fortunata/Night Widow)
50s on my second account, Virtue Server:
Heroes:
Princess Mera: Katana/Invuln Scrapper (Yes, I love scrappers, and I love Invuln)
Amazing Zatala: Illusion/Kin Controller
15 50s, with a small handful of characters in the mid to high 40s. I have always loved this game, and only needed a couple short breaks due to burn out. -
This was ages ago, pre-ED even. I was on the Numina TF, playing my Claws/Invuln Scrapper. Now, he would often tank for the group if there wasn't one available, and I loved every minute of it. But this particular moment is one of my favorites of his career.
One of the missions in the TF sent us to Eden. I had to afk, and when I came back, most of the team was dead due to a hot door. If I remember correctly, there were about 4-5 yellow/orange Devoured bosses slapping people around. The tank was dead, as well as the blasters, and I think our storm defender was trying to keep them at bay with hurricane. I dropped from the sky into the middle of the group as the defender went down.
My scrapper took them all down while everyone watched. I could have just entered the mission while everyone else went to the hospital, but I wanted to see if he could do it. And he did. And it was glorious. The tank complained about it, which just made it better. Rawr Scrappers! I have four at level 50. Definitely my favorite AT. -
Welcome, Silas! I am a transplant from Protector as well, though it's been a few years. Hope you have a great time on Virtue! The people here are pretty awesome.

Quote:Huntress: So... what are you wearing?I'm not going to make him trade me for it though because he mailed me a Question JLU figure for by birthday last year.
The Question: Blue overcoat. Fedora.
Huntress: ...you really stink at this.
The Question: Orange socks?
((Sorry... couldn't help it. I loved the JLU version of The Question so much. Jeffery Combs FTW.
Best friend, ever!
*cough* Back to your regularly scheduled thread)) -
Got my Warshade to 50, ended a level and a half shy of 50 on my Peacebringer. Inching ever closer to having a 50 of every AT. >.>
Realized over the weekend that Warshades are much more fun to play than Peacebringers.
Now all I need for my goal is a tank, brute, widow and spider. -
Quote:Blasting? Elaith, you're the only Empath Tank I know.Still took a bit longer ebfore I got as blast happy as I am now, but thats when I stopped completely ignoring them. I will say that I try to pass along the love if I can. Got a "nice heals" once with a dark and a FF on the team. My response was basically "Heals? I'm blasting. Thanks you two!"

Awww, Lighthouse. I'm not on the forums much, but I'll be sad to see your name not among the red ones.
Loved meeting you at the Elephant and Castle back in 2007! You sat at the table I was at for at least an hour and talked to me and my friends, which I thought was awesome at the time (Still do!)
Good luck with the next phase of your life! -

Nice! A CoHer at Golden Age. I never knew...
My husband and I go to breakfast at Pike Place market every so often. We'll stop in next time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yay, please do! -
Husband (Blue Wrecker) and I will be popping in for wherever the M&G is held. We can't attend PAX this year, but as we live in Seattle, and we're hosting a couple CoHers, it'll be fun to hear the con stories!
Also, if any of you over the weekend stop in at the Pike Place Market, come on down to the comic store Golden Age Collectables and say hi to me! I'll be the forlorn girl behind the counter since I have to work allll weekend. Not really. I usually do have a Deer-in-the-Headlights look on my face though. Tourists'll do that to you. -
* Supergroup Name: Dawson Enterprises
* Website (if any): None yet, will make one if there's enough interest
* Leader or Recruiting Officers: Steel-Siren, global @ZephyrStarr
* Preferred Method of contact: PM through the boards or /tell to global
* Guild Description:
Dawson Enterprises: Aiding the Heroes of Today to Bring Us a Better Tomorrow
((OOC goodness:
I have an intro thread here which has a bit of backstory. Here's some of the rules I came up with, more to come:
All heroes will be wearing Dawson Industry armor, which uses the "Tech Crey" base and a helmet. The hero can trick out the armor however they choose.
The hero does not need to be unpowered or even human, though unpowered individuals are what the company caters to. Powered heroes can use the armor to augment their own abilities.
Secret IDs are encouraged, though that's not a hard rule.
There are no specific powersets I have in mind, but something that fits the theme of a powered suit is encouraged.
I am looking for RPers, and prefer moderate to heavy RP. OOC stuff is fine as long as it's marked as such.)) -
